hello there guys..,
here i am a newbie asking question that probably has been asked so many times..,
so let get to the point then..,
i want to know is there a way to move app to sdcard without installing custom rom??(maybe by just rooting)
is there a way to save user data?? most preferbly saving the game data??
cause most of the time if i have to install custom rom/ got back to stock rom / or install other custom rom i have to clean all the data (dalvick chace and etc) including the user data
*if this question has been asked/discused please give me the link,
1. Check out move2sd enabler or link2sd.

there are three tabs on the top: overview, backup/restore, and schedules. go under backup/restore to restore (this restores apps one at a time). to restore pretty much all of your backed up apps, hit the menu button and then select batch. scroll down to restore and run the operation of your choice

sorry for being such bird brain on this but does the titanium backup also backup the app data?? such for game it's saved data ??

There is one more trick which utilize the custom recovery function.
Doing nandroid backup but instead of selecting all, we select only data to back up.
So after flashing new ROM, nand restore should only covered data not system applications etc.
I believe I read this somewhere in the forum but I forgot where, so, credit goes to him/her

Hi.
I want to find out wich is the BEST COMPLETE BACKUP of any android mobile phone program and if i can install it to an UNROOTED android phone.
I hear that clockwork is the best but i don't know if this program can work fine with UNROOTED phones because it suggest to install it only to rooted phone.
So please the persons who KNOW can answer to me with proof.

gotta have root for those backup programs.
Sync your contacts to Google and there you have a back up of them. Any paid apps from the market will always be allowed to be downloaded by you since you paid for them.

O...nope. your definitely going to have to root to have access to that.

firstly you need root for any significant backup, withought it the best thing i would sujest is connecting your phone to a computer and just copy everything over, that will save most apps and things. But even with root i am not aware af any comprehensive backup app because there is so much to backup: ROM, Kernel, Contacts, Data, Apps as well as different locations where they are: OS storage, internal SD and external SD.
despite this i have found helpfull combinations of:
App Backup & Restore
Mobile Backup II
MyBackup Root
Titanium Backup
ROM Manager
some need root, some don't and some are partialy limited without root, but all were helpfull and have saved my rear a few times

There is a way. Bring a storage device like a thumb drive and go into a sprint store or a radio Shack. They have machines (cellebrite) that can backup contacts pictures video and sd contents. Or you can do it yourself buy pushing everything to dropbox.

Yeah, that's not "everything". If you want EVERYTHING backed up on your phone, you're going to need root. Normal "copy everything off of the SD card" doesn't get you things like app data or preferences/settings (like ringtone and notification tone settings, as two out of a thousand possible examples).
Now, if your device has fastboot enabled and you have an on-hand recovery image, you can likely

(make appropriate substitutions for your on-hand recovery image file and device), and then do a nandroid backup from there. Aside from the data written to your storage device (on-device or SD card), that shouldn't permanently modify your system in any way.
With the titanium backup that it work ONLY on a rooted mobile we can make A FULL COMPLETE BACKUP of any android mobile.
And when i am saying full complete backup i mean(Rom, kernel, apps, settings e.t.c.) ALL the things that it has the mobile this time.
And after a change of rom or kernel i can restore ONLY the apps and settings to the changed rom/kernel?

TB doesn't backup kernel and its settings, widgets placed on homescreen, and certain system apps when you reflash same Rom. Only one way is a android backup which is same as an image backup in windows.

Clockwork doesn't do a COMPLETE FULL BACKUP of any mobile?
I search one program that can make a A COMPLETE FULL BACKUP of any android mobile device like samsung galaxy s2.
Clockwork backs up your entire system. Including apps installed to sd card, but it won't backup info on your sd card normal storage (the one you can use a usb mass storage).
clockwork nandroid backup+regular backup of sd card = full backup of everything on your phone.
Of course, successful restore of the backup without modifications will only work in phones with the same model (no restoring a gingerbread backup of an htc device to an ics samsung device for example)

Then you can restore ONLY the apps if you install a custom rom to the mobile or the restore must be a complete and not a part of it.
A 'nandroid' which is done with clockworkmod or twrp or amon-ra is a complete backup...

Titanium backup will also let you open the backup and pick out apps to restore if you use clockworkmod or twrp

Yes but not to a USB hard disk. You can chose from internal or externa SD card.
After that you can move it line any other file.
Pretty comon on flashaholics. They try a ROM and a few minutes later flash his entire system(nandroid backup) back.

And the complete system backup you do with clockwork can toy restore ONLY the apps from this backup to a custom rom or kernel that may you have installed at the mobile like samsung galaxy s2?

One more time .. recovery=clockworkmod and does a backup equivalent to an image file in windows. You can save backup to pc, flash other roms and restore your user apps+data from titanium backups and start using. If not happy, restore cwm backup and it'll be exactly how you had it before. Do a nandroid backup, transfer to pc and look inside using winrar, 7zip etc and you'll see what it saves.
When flashing different roms you may or may not restore data from apps via TB as certain data may affect stabily, each custom rom lets you know. For TB best to gooble search their site for guide, troubleshooting, q&a.

So bottom line is that i can make a complete full backup with clockwork and then can make apps restore with titanium backup correct?
If i leave the oficial rom and change the kernel then i have any problems from the apps restorations?
Nandroid does the full image backup everything, system, boot, apps, data just like windows image restore
Titanium backup for apps + data is great when using same apps across different roms .. read up on its site

How do I Backup/Restore apps for changing roms.
I'm using a cm9 and want to try some other roms and I want to backup my current applications and then restore it in other rom simply.
I know and application doing this but when I want to restore them I have to install them one by one. but I want to do a backup for my apps and then restore them in the other rom all by one click .. like restore all apps.
Any good program can do this?

Yeah use Titanium Back Up as mentioned in the post above.
Once u open TB, on the top right of the screen u will see a tick within a box. Click on this. It will open Batch Backup/Restore options.
Click on Backup all user apps before flashing a new ROM.
once u have flashed a new rom, click on Restore missing apps with data.

Ultimate Backup
App2Zip - You choose the apps you want and it puts them in a flashable zip on your SD card or internal storage. When you install your new ROM, just install the flashable zip and you have your apps back. Only thing is, it doesn't save the app data with it
AppExtractor - You can extract and install apps AND/OR app data from CWM recovery backups. You can also restore WiFi info, Bluetooth settings, contacts n I think a couple of other things.

As far as I know, cwm backs up both user apps and system apps with their data so if u restore it from there, the old sytem apps and data might conflict with the new one...so I would advise against it.
Use cwm and completely restore ur old Rom, make a backup usng tb and then flash ur new Rom... Safest way!

I just want to select user apps and data associated and restore it from backup. I wont be restoring the system apps coz of interference.. Is there any kind of app or program to do this ??

After installing a new ROM just restore APP+DATA via TB... best way to sort and backup and restore apps individually :thumbup:

Not recommendable....if your phone is on different ROM before backup, restoring the backup data into different ROM will make your phone bootloop (really bad cases) or lost statusbar/setting and etc (light cases)....
since he already make a backup then TB is the best choices...

FYI : Backup from CWM contains the whole pack of the previous ROM....when you choose to restore data only, it restore all data including User Apps Data and System Apps Data....when System Apps Data is restore into a different ROM, you bet it going to make your phone into bootloop....

I was talking about the selective backup of nandroid backup from TB. Ofc in a CWM data restore all apps(system+user) get restored. Im well aware of that and I wont be trying that

Well, I come here six months later, but Google brought me here...
I guess you're already using Online Nandroid Backup combined with Nandroid Manager. Just two days ago I restored user apps+data with Nandroid Manager from a backup created through Online Nandroid Backup. Both apps from H3r3t1c are really useful, specially working together.
Aside of this advice (surely already not needed) I was looking after a script to restore those user apps+data from a backup. I wanna include that script in my list of zips-to-flash in ZipInstaller
I'd appreciate any help. Cheers.

you can......BUT......restoring system data is not advisable, it may lead to multiple problems.....take the time to set up again, that way you will be exploring your new Roms settings, and definitely don't restore data if you are dealing between Samsung based Roms and others eg. Cm10/aosp/aokp

In my experience, the same is valid for TB, do not restore system data. For user apps (e.g. games), till now I had no problem restoring their data.

Yeah , well what i do for back up while flashing roms is the following:
pictures +music files +videos + contacts > back up to external sd
apps > titanium pro (best way) and you can also restore app data but as the other guy said , is not always recommended...

1) I did a titanium back up and then mistakenly restored user app+data TiBu gave a warning message that the restore might not work properly on the new rom and then it certainly didn't work and ended up having a FC
2) I flashed again and before flashing i did a TiBu but after flashing TiBu showed no back up's taken.After lot of reading i was told to restore via cwm through advance restore(restore data) but that resulted in stuck up at boot animation so i returned back to previous rom.
3)The question still remains answered.....

Hi guys, my question is: are you using Google account to backup/restore after full wipe?
My experience is that only application linked to Paly Store are restored (start installing after set up Google account).
Is it necessary (or recommended) to backup data to Google? Or is it useless?

IMO it's useless, backing up with a custom recovery and Titanium Backup is more than enough.

Thanks. I don't know what data are backed up via Google but I think nothing important for recovery after flashing...
Custom recoveries will not wipe the music or dcim folder and therefore u do not nid to back up those.

I see in titanium backup you can select a batch backup or restore of user apps.
Can you restore using batch just user data obviously I do not want to do system data since that can cause problems.

When I install a rom upon reboot it will automatically install apps from market which is ok so then instead of going to each app and restoring data only would be nice to batch it.

The general consensus is that restoring data can introduce problems but there are people who do it.
Personally, if I can keep data in Google I have it in Google. Otherwise I try to pick apps that have their own backup/sync routine. Rather than doing a wholesale restore of data, I'd be selective and restore data where I really need to. If you have problems you can uninstall the app and then reinstall the app asking from TiBu without data, or just install a new copy from the store.
And of course have a nandroid backup.

Hi,
I always thought the problem was restoring system data but not user data? I am only looking to batch install user data picking the apps I want and having it saved for future batch restores.

I have one suggestion /data/data is where user data is being stored. You can multi select those directories using es file explorer compress as single zip file and restore it back by extracting at /data/data
I tested with an app manually it worked. Even permissions were retained.
