Hi all, and thanks for your work.
Does anybody know how to adjust screen resolution to avoid the stretched and distorted view? I looked around but can't seem to find a thread about it.
I suppose it's not just about changing the pixel density but the actual pixel ratio.
I find it really annoying that one cannot look at a straight circle on this thing.
thanks

Apparently nobody knows anything about this.
By the way, I fear that the pixel is not square at all, in this case, I can't imagine any solution.
Have you tried an app called LCD Density Changer, which of course is about density, but still you could try?

I've tried.
The Viewpad 7 has a stock density of 160 dpi - lower than 140 dpi is unreadable.
140 dpi gives some more space, but the resolution is stretched in it's width again.

I did try it, but it does not become larger for game or apps
Density just makes the screen look virtually smaller. I don't think changing the LCD density will help you to play WVGA games. The minimum density I could set with FontChanger was 140.

Well, you can always do a factory reset with clockwork recovery.
I used this app to set the pixel density at 170 on my tab 8.9
I think it looks awesome, give it a try.
(you need to be rooted, and I am using the latest overcome rom)

Thanks for the sharing. I am considering to change the LCD density but not comfortable to root yet (still reading and learning....).
1) Can you help post the screenshot on home screen, app folder screen. If possible, can you install the CNN News and post this app home screen etc. Due to original 160 setting, the font on CNN News is extremely small.
2) Can you help posting the above with 240 setting.
3) Any problem install app thru market (i heard market can only install with 160 or 240 LCD)? Anyway I am prepared to reinstall the old mkt version as it does not has this limitation.
Sorry to trouble you and appreciate your helps and sharing.

thanks for the app recommendation. But my tab went crazy after switching density. gmail force closed, calendar force closed... it because quite unstable. Reset back to default density, and removed program. All good again.

Strange, did you set it to 170?
not sure if I can tell a difference.. icons seem to look larger on the screen...
market and apps will act up if you change density. switch back to the default values to fix this.

I believe it's 170, at least according to the specs listed at GSMArena.com.
I'm not sure I understand the advantage of doing this. My display looks beautiful as it is.
Hello, has anyone had any success with modifying the screen density on a Samsung Galaxy player 5.0?
I'm rooted and considering using an app such as LCD Density Modder Pro or perhaps even manually editing the build.prop file. Before I do this I'd like to know if anyone has also tried this and how successful it was.
The reason why I ask is because after a forum search I found that someone had tried unsuccessfully to do so: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18045727&highlight=density#post18045727
Thanks
Well, I did it on my 4.0 using font changer, worked fine, just made a lot of apps not work right so I undid it.

Changed the Density on my 5.0 to 200 and i actually like the slightly more scaled down nature of everything. You might run into a button or two that's slightly off because of this but in general the pros outweigh the cons.

I used Root Explorer to change the density directly from the build.prop file. It just seemed like a better idea than using an application to do it for me.

You guys should try and post some before and after screenshots. Would be interesting to look at.
This was already discussed, with several screenshots, in a thread called "Has anyone played with the LCD Density of the 5.0?" in the General forum. Sorry, I can't post links yet. The last update was 23/1/2012.

Please set your DPI to default as well as make sure that the soft keys are visible. Soon we'll look at supporting multiple DPI settings for devices.
Any progress with alternative DPI settings on the Nexus 5? I'd love to run a lower DPI, say 421 or 381 for example.

Not yet, as it's an immense process to get all the widgets, icons and wallpaper to align correctly. Right now when Themer is installed it looks at what the device is called and chooses the appropriate themes. Throwing in custom DPI's makes this a bit more difficult, but the development should still be able to implement soon. :good:

I've run some of this themes installing first on stock DPI and custom softkey, then after set up the theme reverted to my pref DPI, no issue at all on my side
potential cause
A potential cause of that error may be the tweaks you've made to the navigation bar through gravity box.
My debug info, current screen dimensions, says 1822x1080, DPI=480
Custom ROM and disabling my navbar mod, still no clue

Hi, your N5 screen dimensions should be 1776x1080. This means that your navigation bar might have been adjusted.
So which DPI setting should be applied? I tried 440, 480 and stil the launcher says the resolution is not supported. Could you assist?

Any intention to support multi DPI?
Alot of Custom ROMS allow easy changing of the DPI, Seems your limiting your potential market.
I Love Themer, I just cannot use it, as Landscape and Multi DPI do not work properly.

In the future we might look at multi DPI support, however at this moment the task is a lot harder than it sounds. Sorry about that.

I completely understand the complexity of the multi DPI.
But has anyone considered some pre defined DPI's
So at least the user can get a Near Enough DPI, and then tweaking the theme to fit perfectly is only minimal changes.
Again just a theory, I have never really worked on DPI.

There's a strange relationship with a device's DPI and resolution, which is why many device aren't supported (such as the G3). We've tried what you've suggested, however "near-enough" isn't what the average user wants

Hi, unfortunately the Mega isn't supported just yet due to its resolution. Hopefully it will be soon though!
I have a rooted Nexus 5 with SlimKat ROM running. SlimKat changes the DPI by default, but using BuildProp Editor I changed it to the stock 445 DPI. However, Themer says my resolution is wrong. If I set Themer as my default launcher, I can press the home button and see the default Themer appearance, I just can't download anything from the app. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
I was running trents rom on the GN2 at 270 and it looked ok. I have gotten away from this application recently though.
