[Q] Galaxy 10.1 can't see my HTC HD2 wireless router - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Looking through other posts seems that I'm not the only one with this issue, though there have been no solutions in answer to the previous posts!
Have HTC HD2 running WM6.5 I'm normally able to connect to various laptops using the HTC wireless router - with the Galaxy 10.1 it can not see the HTC - I did note in another thread that this was because the HTC creates an AD Hoc network and android can't see these? (don't really understand the technical issues there!)
I have tried manually setting up a wireless network but the Tab did not like the settings I used - is there an app that would sort this out?
Or any advice on manually setting the network up?
Please help!
Many thanks

[Q] Ad Hoc Connections and Wifi Tether

Hi, I recently got my Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 (Wifi only version) GT-P7510 and I am interested in having my tab connected through 3G using a nokia N8 (With Joikuspot application).
I already read the thread with the supplicant file thing and rooting needed.
This is my first Android device so:
1- What is exactly rooting? Does rooting affects the original firmware, there is any reason for NOT rooting my tablet? (Do I loose general updates? Could applications installed be affected?).
2- The guide for making ad hoc network to work seems quite easy, but there are several replies saying people had to do it several times, because of one thing or another (because was it permissions that was not correct or airplane mode not off? Did someone made a flawless guide? Maybe the thread I read is not updated).
Is there any other way of doing this, Android might add this feature in a future update?...

[Q] please help me figure out what else i need

Hi, I'm planning on using my i777 as an android hotspot to run a small car PC/ media system
1) no matter what rom I use my wifi tether never works. I always get errors . I just downloaded the wifi tether app so I will try it out when I get the chance. Does anyone have advice on getting native tethering up and running? From my limited knowledge I am thinking what I need for this setup is infrastructure and not ad hoc.
I just bought the galaxy wifi 5.0 to mount in the dash.
I have an archos 5 with 500gb hdd I will hide to store media or I can buy a media HD if that's a better alternative
So in theory do I need anything else or should I be able to get a simple system together with what I have with the i777 tying everything together and providing a internet connection to the galaxy 5?
Thanks in advamce. I'm sorry if not all the questions pertain to the i777, but I figured most people who could help me with my error issue would know the rest of the answers and it made more sense then cluttering up a few different areas with separate threads

[Q] Connect two Android phones to share voice and data

Hey guys, I'm looking for a solution to connect one android phone to another over bluetooth to share voice and maybe data service. What I want to do is use my old Dell Streak as a GPS/media player in my car without having service to it. I would like it to connect to my current phone so I can make call through it, like a headunit with hands free bluetooth calling. I'm not so much worried about data, though it would be a plus but I don't think Android supports connecting to ad-hoc networks. I can't seem to find any app that supports this, and I'm not seeing anywhere on the Android system where this is possible. I haven't owned a car stereo that supports bluetooth calling so I'm not sure what to look for. If anyone has tried this and could help me out it would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Edit: Nevermind. I found a thread on here with a group actively looking for a solution to this. Thread can be deleted.
I guess a simpler way to put it is to say I want to make the phone in the car act as a handfree device for my phone with service, which would be in my pocket. I did find a couple threads which were just dead ends when searching with those terms. Does anyone know if the bluetooth api supports the phone acting as a device? I see that might be an issue I have come across in my searching so far.

[Edit] Moved to Q and A section: Portable Wifi Hotspot problems - S3 i9300

Realised this belongs to Q and A section, moved post.
Tried connecting two separate devices (Galaxy Tab 10.1 and a laptop) with the built in portable wifi hotspot on the international i9300. The devices are able to connect, but I'm unable to browse the web (or skype) with either of the connected devices. Tried with security on and off, no luck. Previously on Galaxy Note, didn't have any issues using the same method. I'm with Rogers and I'm sure they haven't changed their policy in allowing tethering with their data plans. Any help our pointers in fixing this issue would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Shiraz

[Q] Note 2 Wifi, Ad-hoc support w/o tethering

Hi there!
I pump an ad-hoc WiFi signal from my office PC's network adapter, which works fine with my other devices. I would like to connect my Verizon Galaxy Note 2 to this hotspot but as we all know there is no native ad-hoc support.
What would be the easiest way to accomplish this? An app similar to the WiFi manager on the Archos 101?
My phone is rooted, rom Beans 4.1.2, unlocked bootloader, w/ Perseus kernel
And I realize this question has been asked before but so far I have not searched up the right answer, plus I can't freakin' post anywhere before I get to 10 posts lol. Long time visitor but now that I actually own my own Android device rather than just working on others, I figured I'd finally make an account.
Thanks in advance for the help
3rd Party Temp Workaround
Hey Guys,
So no responses eh? Anyway obviously I wasn't about to give up on my searching, but so far I have only had success with Connectify.
Its a third party application that shares your wired internet connection with your wifi adapter and pumps the signal. Basically it does exactly what ad-hoc is for but it can be seen by Android devices.
I am using the Lite version not the Pro and it has been working fine. But don't get me wrong I STILL WANT TO ENABLE AD-HOC. I am still searching for a way to do this but in the meantime I figured I'd post this info in case anybody else is still trying to do this as I am. I Googled earlier and the second listing that came up was this Q&A thread I posted, so I figured if somebody else Googled the same thing and came to this thread I didn't want them to leave empty-handed.
So if anybody has any info on how to make ad-hoc networks visible on the Note 2 please let me know, but until then using Connectify can have you set up and saving 4G data in a few minutes.
I can't speak to using this on the note, but I used adhoc switcher from the play store on an early lenovo tablet that for some reason could only tether to a phone as adhoc. The app had a ton of settings so I am betting you could make it work in this situation.
