Google talk - contacts seem offline? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys!
I'm running stock KH3 (with Chainfire kernel) and for some reason my Google Talk keeps showing all my contacts are offline.
When I log out and back on, they are online again.
Anyone have a solution?

BUMP! I am having the same issue:
I am running villianrom 3.0 on my S2. baseband I9100XXKG3, kernel 2.6.35.11-ninphetamine-2.0.5....
Google talk keeps saying that I am offline (when in a chat to a person) and that all my contacts are offline (when looking at main contact list screen). Signing in and out resolves it but it is irritating as I do not receive messages or notifications when it happens and I haven't got talk open...
Has anyone else managed to fix this? I'm not sure it is villianrom related or something else, sorry.

It seems the problem is present on multiple devices, so it's likely to be related to Google Talk itself. In order to maximize the efforts to find a solution it's better if we focus on one topic only. The following one seems to have the greater number of replies so far:
Google Talk issue - after a few minutes Contacts are all offline when not

[Q] Problem with Heywire! (Free texting)

Before I switched my ace to CM7, Heywire worked fine. Now that I switched roms, it keeps giving me a wrong ID message every time I put the right password countless times. Can anyone tell me something about this? Or is it something to do with the rom? If so, how does this happen?
Or as an alternative, does anyone know any other international texting apps? I'm using textplus but it doesn't give me a phone number and a lot of people had my Heywire number.
Any help?
Alternative? Use whatsapp. Low CPU and memory footprint.
WhatsApp is a messaging thing basically. I'm talking about just texting. WhatsApp only lets me contact those that have WhatsApp installed and not a random phone number.

Odd Google Voice issue

Just wondering if anybody else is having this issue.. It's a bit random but I can't seem to work out what's going on.
I am having a few problems with dictating text messages over 3G/HSDPA. When I do it over wifi, it's fine but I just get 'connection error' when I use data. It's a problem that seems to be rearing its head across both Go SMS and the native messaging app and only started recently. I can't figure out when but I think I must have updated something.
Using it to search for a song, search the web or dictate a message through soemthing like Speak to It Assistant has no issues. It is solely something to do with dictating messages but it's driving me mad as this is where I use it most. Does anybody have any ideas?
I'm running ICS Wanamlite ROM with GalaxSih kernel
Cheers

"Call" Voice Command only searching Contacts

I've been using voice commands for years on my Nexus S from the Gingerbread incarnation of Google Search all the way until 4.1.2 and Google Now. One of my most frequently used commands is Call. For example, if I wanted to call the nearest Best Buy, I would simply say "Call Best Buy." This always worked perfectly up until a few days ago. Before, it would bring up a card with the nearest one or two Best Buys and a phone icon to call them instantly. Now, whenever I use the Call command to search, it only returns people from my contacts who may have one or two letters in common with what I searched for.
I find that if I wipe the data for Google Search, the problem goes away temporarily. Usually within the next day, however, it stops working again. I am syncing Google Now with my Gmail account, so I'm not sure if there is some setting being restored by the sync that is breaking this functionality.
Here's my setup:
OS: CM10 Stable (4.1.2)
Phone: Nexus S AT&T (i9020a)
Google Search: Latest version w/ Google Now
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. I use this feature all the time, and it's very annoying when it doesn't work.
I know more people than us our having this same issue. Wish there was a solution!
Weird. I don't have this issue. :|

Gmail/Hangouts/Groupme/etc failing to receive push notifications

Hi all,
I'm running a custom rom on a Huawei H1611 Ascent XT with only addition modification being Magisk V12 (I've tried posting this question in it's thread, but so far no luck https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/rom-ascend-xt-nexusxt-b160-t3597766 ). The rom replaced lots of stock apps with google apps so maybe something is going on there.
Basically, gmail, hangouts, and groupme all fail to notify me of a new email or message, especially when the phone is off. As a test, if someone sends me a hangout message, I won't receive it until I open the hangouts app.
I've gone through all the notification settings, the battery optimization settings (ensure gmail, play services, hangouts all set to no battery optimize), and can't find ANYTHING to cause this issue. Also done multiple wipes and reflashes.
I feel like one time I read about a blocked wakelock causing an issue similar to this but I can't recall it. Does anyone know what could cause an issue like this and how can I figure out what is going on? Driving my crazy...
thanks!

Disappearing Contacts

Okay this sounds dodgy… but ever since I’ve been using P9000, contacts that have been in my account (some even for years) disappear! I notice this when someone I know calls but his name is not shown, or when I browse between older messages in SMS app or WhatsApp, I notice the contact details have disappeared! As you can understand this is very annoying … recently I had a hard time to find back the number for my car mechanic, as his contact details were erased.
In attempt to fix this. I’ve installed the Google Contacts app, and disabled the Elephone Contacts app. This did not fix it.
I was hoping that the update to Android Nougat would maybe fix this. It did not! After flashing Nougat first things I noticed was that some essential contact details had disappeared!
I have not had this issue on any device before. It started occurring ever since I start using the P9000. So the question is…. Has anybody else noticed this issue? Why is this happening? Is Elephone doing naughty things in the background with my contacts??? Is there anything to do about?
