So here is the deal. At any time and any place my phone will seem to be perfectly fine. I can cruze the internet on 4G and WIFI but not 3G. I cannot make or receive calls and txt and MMS. Sometimes the phone will continue like that till I reboot it and sometimes it will reboot on it's own.
This is not a constant but more or less once a day sometimes twice and sometimes I can go 2 or three days without the issue.
official OTA MR is installed. A co-worker has the same phone and nothing, not one issue with his, but he is not rooted. So I am beginning to wonder if rooting the phone is the cause. I even thought virus once and downloaded AVG and Lookout and neither report an issue.
It is odd, not super annoying as it has never occured during a call or while I'm using the phone, it is only when I am not using it at all, which is hardly ever considering how bad arse it is.
So has anyone else seen this. It is not a full lockup of the phone just the 3G/Voice radio.
Did you have the same issues before you rooted? If so, unroot and return to the store. If not, remove as many apps as you can and slowly add apps until it starts again. This phone is sensitive to some apps that weren't designed for it.

So I went and did a factory reset on it. And within 12 hours the issue occured. So I went to root the phone and found out that root was still there!! So when did a factory reset not clear the phone? So I did it again and still root and all the files I put into the system(ie.. webtop over HDMI, root, and talk2 with video) are all still there. But all my txt phone and other items are gone as well as everything on the SDcard(media space). So what gives?

You'll need to flash the last MR5 in this thread. You'd think something called "factory reset" would do this.

Is this MR5 newer or older than the OTA as I have the OTA installed already.

I did the dock root the day it came out. Funny thing about that too is that the files for that remain in the /var/tmp/pulse directory and I can see it and see them in ES explorer but not in terminal emulator.
After I did the factory restore I installed super user and it was good to go. I never had to perform the steps to root and all apps that require root are working perfectly fine.

My hubby's been having an issues on his mobile that I've never seen before.
Issue 1: His phone would randomly go back to sleep upon waking.
Sometimes this happens while we're just waking the phone and sliding the lockscreen. So it's like the phone is asleep, we hit power, slide the lockscreen - phone immediately goes back to sleep.
Issue 2: Call issues.
I'm not sure if this is subject to software or not but sometimes this phone will not ring when receiving calls. The problem is a bit intermittent but it's still quite annoying.
Issue 3: OS slowing down.
Generally, his phone runs fine in terms of speed but at other times, it can be slow as molasses. The sad part is that his phone has the smaller SD card and the least amount of media in between the 2 of us.
I would just root and flash something on it but it is his phone and he isn't really that comfortable with the idea of messing around with the firmware and such. So I guess my question is does anyone have any advice on how to fix these issues?
I'm not sure if this will work but your best bet is to Odin the stock JFD again to see if it fixes anything. Be sure to back up apps & data.

If the OP doesn't want to mess around with the phone that much, flashing something through Odin is probably more complicated than rooting the phone (takes one click) and trying One Click LagFix (OCLF).
No matter what you do (to the OP) make sure you use Titanium to backup apps and data just in case

Well, it isn't my phone to mess with in the first place, otherwise that thing would be on a Bionix-V ROM like mine is. Even today, the stupid phone crashed and he lost his unlock. It was by pure luck I retained the code we got from T-mobile.
Update it via Kies to KA6, KA6 runs pretty well. Enable USB Debug, and it should go without a hitch.
Root it.

Yeah, I think I'll do this first and see how it runs for the next few days.
Just one q: When I uninstall ROM manager, will CWR also be wiped at the same time or will I also have to find another way to uninstall it?
So, before I start this, Yes I was a noob. I didnt make a nandroid backup from when I first rooted my phone and everything worked 100%. I didnt read, and I guess its now biting me in the ass.
The past few months Ive been having issues with Wifi, it continuously says "Unable to scan for networks". I did a factory reset about a week and a half ago and for the first time my wifi was able to connect, however it was dropping out every couple minutes. Wouldnt even stay connected to install any market updates.
I figured that it was something with my dying router(Which Ive since replaced) so I flashed in BAMF to see if I could keep my wifi connection with another rom. Ive been using VirusROM(Love it even though its out od date). I wiped and flashed in BAMF, and restarted. When I restarted, I had no wifi again. Since then, Ive been trying out different ROMS and kernels in hopes that I would find something that would fix it. Nothing did.
After this I figured that I would just do another factory reset and go from there, however with all of the times Ive done the factory resets it never actually gets reset. Does it wipe my info? Yes, but it boots back up with all of the portions of whatever ROM I had installed last. Not reset. So now Ive ended up with two problems.
1. I still have no wifi
2. I cant factory reset so that I can figure out what is going on with my wifi.
Ive wiped Cache/Batt Stats/Davlick and done a factory reset literally six times in a row to hopefully clean EVERYTHING OUT to no avail. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. I hope Im just missing something small because Im still new to android.
Edit: I DO NOT use kernel manager and I dont use ROM manager to flash it in, I flash everything in through recovery.

I'm sure there's an RUU out there that will take your phone back to stock but I honestly doubt that's the issue here. What radio version are you using? Have you tried flashing different radios to see if that would fix it. You can find a list here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1045081. Also what ROM are you currently on?
When you install a ROM, it modifies the /system directory which is responsible for everything, how the rom looks, included apps, drivers etc.
When you do a factory reset, I'm guessing through recovery, it is only clearing the /data and /cache partitions.
You will have to flash a stock RUU to get it to truly go back to the day you got it.
Here are instructions on how to return to stock:

The ROM Ive been on hasnt mattered. Ive jumped through BAMF, the new Cubed Rom, the Deodexed stock debloat and Virus' Airborne(which is my daily driver). Ive done the different radios. I was on the v2 leaked for a while, then I switched to the new 3g and old 4g to see if its worked but it hasnt. I may have to try out the original one and see if that works, but I havent had wifi since before I flashed in the leaked radio when it came out.

Gotcha. Trying this now. I will make sure to make a nandroid this time if it works. lol.

Still having wifi issue though. 100% out of the box stock and I get the "Unable to scan for networks
**** me, I should have read that before I did it. Now I have to reroot. Goddamnit.
Have had the same problem with WiFi before and after ADB root. It will sometimes forget both my home and work networks. I've found the problem usually occurs when I'm connected then move put of range. A reboot fixes the problem sometimes. Other times I have to re-enter my settings. I'm still on the stock Rom, nothing custom.

Thats a separate issue than what Im having. Im not having issues with it forgetting my networks. I cant scan for networks.
I am thinking of downgrading the radio.

I'm on BAMF 1.7. I just noticed that programs that require root like Wifi Tether, Shoot Me, etc. don't work and question whether I have root access.
Root Checker says I have root and Busybox is correctly installed.
I want to install BAMF 2.1 and am not sure what I should do. Do I need to re-root to be certain? I did the manual ADB method the first time and the root-required programs worked fine before.
Any ideas appreciated.

Ok, so weird.
I re-rooted without issue. Installed a new ROM and it's all good. The apps that quit working still aren't working after restoring with MyBackup Root.
Some of the errors:
ROM Manager: Failure to execute privileged commands
Shoot Me: No root access
Wirless Tether: Starting tether failed, verify root access
So that was last night. I let the phone sit overnight and this morning and was able to Fix Permissions w/ ROM Manager for the first time. Shoot Me and Wireless Tether are also working. Any idea what would have caused/fixed that?
Also, I still have some apps that are Force Closing. They won't uninstall from the Application management area. An Example is WindAlert. Why is this happening and how can I correct it?
I had this happen once with one of Chingy's ROM's. I think it was TPS 1.4. I just reflashed the ROM and it worked like it should. If I recall, he suggested you had 2 options if that happened. 1: reflash the rom. That worked for me. 2: flash a full rooted RUU, radios and all, through the bootloader. I wish I could remember the thread.... I want to say it was on his Gingeritus thread, but I can't remember. The answer is out there though. Doing the ADB root again isn't at all needed since you've got s-off.
Something is still not right.
I would verify the md5 on your rom. perform a full wipe. 3x cache, data, and dalvik. reinstall rom. once phone reboots, allow the phone to sit for a while to settle in. i wouldnt use Ti backup for restoring apps data. definitely not system data.
I've been ripping my hair out the last couple days trying to figure this out.
In the process of flashing a ROM and kernel I did a number of things:
-Carrier unlock (I feel like this is the culprit)
-Unlocked the bootloader
-Flashed Wet Dream (2.3.6 build)
-Installed webtop
-Attempted to root, unsuccessfully (let me know when the 2.3.6 root is available, haha)
After all this, everything was working fine--including wifi. But somewhere along the lines, maybe 15 minutes after I complete all these steps, out of the blue my wifi won't connect. It just says "obtaining IP address" and never connects.
So I got pissed and went on a wiping/reflashing spree. Got everything reset. The wifi was working great again. Then randomly, it just stopped working again.
Question:
Does anyone know why this is happening and what I can do to fix it?!
I'm dying here. Just as a side note in case you need this information, I think I'm going to flash to the 2.3.4 Wet Dream so I can root my device. Also, I don't mind going back to stock. If that's what fixes, it then I'll be more than happy to go stock. I plan on running webtop2sd as well.
Thanks in advance.

Benjat, thanks for the reply.

nvm.. maybe do full wipe again..
what ver of WD u using? with what addon? im using WD 1.4.3 full
I've already done a cache/date wipes to no avail.
I'm using 1.4.4 lite. I'm thinking of flashing the 2.3.4 based WD though (is that 1.4.3?).
I could flash something else too, I guess. I really need webtop (with xfce mod) and I heard Wet Dream works well with it.
If this really is a software problem and it is the ROM's fault, then does anyone have a webtop compatible ROM recommendation?

i cant tell if its problem with rom or what.. 1.4.3 is 2.3.6 base. and yes webtop work well with it.
here's normaly what i do..
Boot CWM Recovery
Wipe data/factory
wipe cache
wipe dalvik
flash rom
reboot to fastboot and do fastboot-w & then fastboot reboot.
let it boot for 1st time (until stable/full load) i left it around 10 mins
then reboot back to CMW to flash addon. usually i flash 1 then boot.. continues untill flash all.. maybe a bit fussy step.. but i prefer all loaded before flashing another
*i never tried webtop2sd yet.. still dont buy bigger mem card coz funding for lapdock
** maybe can try this one to make it clean wipe.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1421522&highlight=fastboot+-w
Yeah I realized too late that everything cost me way more than I had originally intended to spend. SD cards have come down in price but still pretty pricey for a 32 GB card.
And thank you for the link. I'll try it out tomorrow and report back. It's 1:00 AM here in Seattle!
Hey Mankey,
Have you tested different Wifi networks to ensure that the issue is not with the phone or the ROM at all?
Also, check if someone else on Wet Dream thread had WiFi issues, if this happened with someone else, then they should have fix for sure!
Usually I do what bejnat mentioned and usually works.
Also, about the root, try to follow a root process again. It happened with me before, then I had to install a .zip file through Recovery mode to have root access again.
Hope this helps!
wouldn't just flashing the radio or a newer radio maybe fix his issue??
Yeah it doesn't work with other networks either. And as for root I don't think there's a direct way to root 2.3.6 yet.
Sk8trix, I think I'll try that after I flash back to stock 2.3.4. I've tried just about everything but the radio. Kernels don't fix it.
I'll post an update in a couple days. I really want to get this fixed.
I had the same problem with my dark side when I 1st got it and to fix it I flashed another ROM ,loaded it then flashed back ,cleaned delvik cache and flashed gapps then rebooted and 1st boot fixed my problem was using 2.3.6 with webtop2sd+nebtop app hope this helps you

Was your phone rooted and / or modified before the update? Is it an official Virgin phone or flashed from another service? Please share the build version of the software update. But basically your 3 options are to factory reset, reload original system (after reset), or installing a custom recovery and custom rom.

I hadn't done any rooting to the device. Also I did a reset like 5 times already. Didn't help. (By that I mean I went into the setting and hit the reset button and it wiped everything.) That didn't work at all. Also this is an official ZTE Supreme I bought from their website about 6 months ago.
Where do I go to get the build version? I see baseband version which is N9810B01. Is that what you wanted?
I am getting really pissed thinking that my phone might be ****ed because of an update :/
Just thought of a possible issue with the data... See if you can update the profile and prl in the Settings. Most likely will be near the bottom above About Devices, or in About Devices. If that doesn't work, dialing this: ##rtn# is supposed to wipe user data and activation data so upon reboot should attempt to reconnect to Virgin services. As far as the camera, well, try clearing the caches of the camera and gallery in the Settings / Application Manager / All. As far as the slowness, I can't think of anything besides reloading the OS or a custom one. If the issue is in the /system then factory data resets don't touch that part.

You can try this app to get your MSL (also referred to as SPC depending on the situation) http://www.4shared.com/android/M8qqY_ge/MEID_Converter_052.html
But I provided links to both, the files you need, and the guide for how to install them. Did you not even bother to click on them?

It'd be best if you read through the thread and then asked questions afterwards if there is something that isn't spelled out somewhere throughout the thread. They aren't THAT long and you could learn a lot. This stuff is not rocket science, but it does need patience and reading comprehension. The threads there are populated by n00bs and advanced users as well, so there's a good chance someone has had the same questions as you do. The people on those threads will also probably be more likely to help as it's not a very popular phone and not much support for. xda doesn't even have a specific forum for it. But, as you start, you'll need a working Windows (XP/Vista/7/8/8.1) computer or Linux, if you're more comfortable with that for some reason. A good data sync cord. The correct drivers. You probably only need the system.img, but won't hurt to do the others to get a complete full restore.
