Hello.
I'm unable to install the mint.com app or a few other apps, because the Android market says my device is incompatible. Does anyone know why, and any workarounds?
Is it the lack of phone function?

You can't even find the mint.com app in the app-store app. Probably because it is "incompatible".
You have to go to the mint.com homepage and click on the Android link which takes you to the Android Market website for the app.

The workaround that I use is this... I install it on my (unrooted) N1, immediately use astro to make a backup, upload the backup to dropbox, install app on flyer from dropbox, then uninstall from phone.
It's a bit tedious and I don't get the luxury of updates for most apps that are installed in that fashion, but it works.

The Flyer is my only Android device at the moment, so no luck there...
Ahh. I can see the issue you have then.... You may have some luck with AppBrain + Fast Web Install. It kind of bypasses the market restrictions for those apps that aren't able to be installed traditionally. Free apps only, paid apps have to go through Google's market.
Both apps above are in the android market.
On edit: tried that and doesn't work for Mint's application.

I see the app on getjar.com. you can download it from there.

I used my backup pro to restore apps after a new rom. Now all of the apps I got through the amazon market are showing as purchased in the google market. Is there a was to completely remove them from the google market. I tried uninstalling bus as soon as it is reinstalled the google market thinks its was installed from there and wants to give it an update, which fails. Also, a few apps i got from amazon for free I want to actually purchase to support the DEV and they already show as purchased in google and will not let me do so. Any thoughts?
*edit* ignore my sig, its old
Never used backup pro but titanium backup has the option to delete market link from specific apps.

Bump....... Anyone?

Well if you paid for them you can just re-download them from the Amazon market instead of restoring them.

I have same issue. For some apps I uninstalled them, then reinstalled them from the amazon marketplace. It didn't work. They still show up in the android market, and it says they need updates (even though they were just reinstalled from amazon marketplace). I think what's needed is a Titanium backup option to "fix amazon market link", or some other way to accomplish that.

You need to disable and re-enable your device from the web site. It's happened to me a couple of times.

Thanks, i'll try that

...looks like it worked. Thanks.
By deactivate do you mean set it to not show in menus? That's the only option I see

He means goto amazon app store on a pc and disable your phone from there, then reenable.

i cant use papago on my htc flyer and i cant other software to support it, any suggestion?
Is there a reason you won't use Google Map Navigation?

If you have WiFi only, just download the areas you wish to navigate in using the maps labs option for local storage.
Copilot, Navigon, and Sygic all have options to save the maps to local storage. This is assuming the maps are even available for your area of the world... Since you mentioned Papago, I'm guessing China.
You could also check to see if there is a map pack you can use in the built in navigation HTC includes as part of the car dock mode application.

I know quite a few people are running HC like myself on their Flyer. How do you access HC apps on the market? The market still recognises the Flyer as a GB tablet. Any way to work around this?
??? I can install most off the HC Apps from the market. And this till a made the update to HC.
And there are still other Apps with some other resctrictions (resolution) which we can't install, not in the Market and not directly from a file.
Yep. What elim said in landscape their should even be a section for staff picks for tablets

I have had a persistent problem with moving around from one hc Rom to another. Basically on globatrons stock s off hc my system apps can see and access my external sd. I have a backup saved. If I flash a custom Rom and wipe my data I can not get system apps to see my external sd. If I do not wipe data they will. I have had this behavior flashing every hc Rom for the flyer.
Has anyone else experienced this and if so how did you fix it?

mcord11758, that's on my to-do list to look at if nobody get's it sorted before I get to look at it.
Ok cool just wanted to make sure I am not crazy or missing something basic. For what my knowledge extends to I have tried every trick I got. Not a huge deal as suitable replacements are available, just an annoyance

Don't ask me why, just installed alternate music and gallery apps. Opened the alternative gallery, then the music player. The music player has an option to dl album art that is missing. Did that. Wouldn't you know, my stock gallery and music app now see my ext sd. Do not know if this helps with a potential fix..... Go figure

Market links apps that have been downloaded&installed outside market.how to stop it?
Hi,
This has been Bugging me for a while now... I'm a confident android user... and have had my HTC desire for over a year and a half, and now have an Asus transformer...
Basically, I have an app that I didn't download and install from the market, however, the market says that I have "purchased" the app and gives me a download button. If I click it I get an error message. An app in question is setCPU, I have downloaded it from xda, but now would like to buy the app to support the developer and get market updates.. at the moment this seems impossible for me to do... It is linked to my account as "purchased" even though I haven't actually purchased it...
This is the same with another app that I downloaded a while ago, and now I have some spare cash I would like download the app, get updates, and more importantly support the developer...
Also, PIRACY IS BAD, THESE ARENT PIRATED APPS.. SUPPORT DEVELOPERS!
Sorry for long post, and any mistakes, I wrote all this on my phone...
Hopefully someone can help me...
Many thanks,
Matt

thanks for the reply... what if the market doesn't have an uninstall button and only an open or update button...

In fact that didn't work for me... I uninstalled it via the market and it just said purchased... I then clicked install and it gave me an error...

I googled and found this
- Unlink the app from the market with titanium backup (long press on the app in titanium backup), uninstall the app
- Go to app setting menĂ¹ and click on market apk, here you have to clear data/cache and uninstall the update
Now if you have the last market version installed by default, you have to download and install the previous version:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=743249&d=1318041888
Now you have to find the app you want to buy on the old market before the phone update it again (if the app price is different don't worry, they will charge you the real price). Do this for every app you want to buy

thanks a lot... This has half worked.. I purchased the app, an got the order receipt email, but then market has stopped working, and is force closing. I will have to go back to the up to date market, download the app, then back to the old market and so forth... I'm actually fixing permissions at the moment, whih i doubt will help, but worth a shot!
anyway, thanks so much dude...!
