If you have WiFi only, just download the areas you wish to navigate in using the maps labs option for local storage.

Copilot, Navigon, and Sygic all have options to save the maps to local storage. This is assuming the maps are even available for your area of the world... Since you mentioned Papago, I'm guessing China.
You could also check to see if there is a map pack you can use in the built in navigation HTC includes as part of the car dock mode application.

I am using copilot, official license, when I try to download the maps it says that I do not have enough memory to install the maps!!!!!

[Q] HTC Premium Navigation

Hi all,
Anybody is using the HTC Premium Navigation ?
I do not like the google navigation and I am now considering either Navigon or HTC Premium Navigation.
While I can get many screenshots of Navigon, I cant get any information about the HTC navigation . What does it look like ? reliable? easy to use?
Feedback from actual user would be appreciated
thanks,
Just to be clear... you're not talking about the Premium version of Telenav right?
nop,
The HTC one that we can access from the Locations app already loaded in EVO 3D
Are you on a gsm device?
He's not on Sprint, he is in Canada on Rogers. They probably have different preloaded apps than us.
Yes on GSM device. Does it make a difference ?
Yes on Rogers. Probably different preloaded apps (I know that we have some Rogers app preloaded like WIFI-Calling and MyAccount)
Do you guys on Sprint have the following apps ?
- HTC Hub
- HTC Likes
- HTC Locations
thanks

We got hub and likes. No locations. Post the apk and odex and we will look into it.
So I got some info on the HTC Navigation
It is route66 engine with TomTom maps.
Will give it a try.
@ Rydah
IS it the Locations app you want, not the Navigation (Nav being lauched by Locations) ?

youtube tells me that the link is mul_formed ,,
Thanks
i like HTC navegation is nice i use it all the time
The premium nav is in locations and has a thirty day free trial. Just download the map for Canada its free and activate the worldwide premium nav and away you go. I am rogers too and have used it during the trial period but for how much I use it I am not willing to pay the $30 fee.
Nice app though

Incompatible applications

Hello.
I'm unable to install the mint.com app or a few other apps, because the Android market says my device is incompatible. Does anyone know why, and any workarounds?
Is it the lack of phone function?
Sent from my HTC Flyer P510e using xda premium
You can't even find the mint.com app in the app-store app. Probably because it is "incompatible".
You have to go to the mint.com homepage and click on the Android link which takes you to the Android Market website for the app.

The workaround that I use is this... I install it on my (unrooted) N1, immediately use astro to make a backup, upload the backup to dropbox, install app on flyer from dropbox, then uninstall from phone.
It's a bit tedious and I don't get the luxury of updates for most apps that are installed in that fashion, but it works.

The Flyer is my only Android device at the moment, so no luck there...
Ahh. I can see the issue you have then.... You may have some luck with AppBrain + Fast Web Install. It kind of bypasses the market restrictions for those apps that aren't able to be installed traditionally. Free apps only, paid apps have to go through Google's market.
Both apps above are in the android market.
On edit: tried that and doesn't work for Mint's application.

I see the app on getjar.com. you can download it from there.

Hc system apps not seeing external sd

I have had a persistent problem with moving around from one hc Rom to another. Basically on globatrons stock s off hc my system apps can see and access my external sd. I have a backup saved. If I flash a custom Rom and wipe my data I can not get system apps to see my external sd. If I do not wipe data they will. I have had this behavior flashing every hc Rom for the flyer.
Has anyone else experienced this and if so how did you fix it?

mcord11758, that's on my to-do list to look at if nobody get's it sorted before I get to look at it.
Ok cool just wanted to make sure I am not crazy or missing something basic. For what my knowledge extends to I have tried every trick I got. Not a huge deal as suitable replacements are available, just an annoyance

Don't ask me why, just installed alternate music and gallery apps. Opened the alternative gallery, then the music player. The music player has an option to dl album art that is missing. Did that. Wouldn't you know, my stock gallery and music app now see my ext sd. Do not know if this helps with a potential fix..... Go figure

gps working

Weird and by accident discovery today....i tried the tethergps app to see if i can tether GPS signal from my ideosx5 to TP and found this....when i activate server and client at TP gps. Work fine at least with Google navigation that i tried, can this be true?
Yes, that app works to share GPS from your phone. And yes it is functional.
You can just download fake GPS from the market and it'll figure out your GPS locations using wifi only very well

tell me more... when I look at the fakeGPS I find in market, it sounds more like it lets you set a fake GPS location instead of using wifi to pretend to be full GPS.
I'm hoping I've mis-read, b/c I'd really like the function you're describing...

WiFi Direct - it is only WiFi connection between devices. You need to use some applications or services like FTP, NFS, Samba, etc. to transfer files over this connection.

OK let me Google it for you

MySelfAjay, we are building an app that does exactly just that. The app is called Drop, and it is a simple, fast, and secure way to share files with people/devices in proximity. We are going into a limited Private Beta soon, so if you're up for the challenge, (and running Jelly Bean) then sign up at www.get-drop.com. Seats are limited, and we have a rolling enrollment, so check it out.
I always use SuperBeam for direct file transfer. You can download it from play store. It's simple and fast.
At the source device you can select shareing > superbeam. The program make a QR code on the screen. On the target device you can start superbeam scanner and it scans the code from the source's screen. After that the they are syncronising each other and files transferring.
It's very simple
