[Q] Phone going into charging mode without cable - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My S2 recently got wet a bit, while cycling in the rain and since then the phone switches to charging or/usb mode all by itself, without having a cable plugged in. Anyone else having this? Anybody knows how to fix it?

Yeah I had this problem, but in my case it was beer causing the problem
The problem went away after a week or so. Try cleaning the usb port as much as possible. And plug in the cable and then pull it out a lot of times.

[Q] Car dock app keeps popping up

Hi all,
I have a weird problem.
Since a few days the car dock keeps popping up.
But this isn't the only issue.
Also sometimes the battery seems to be charging without any cables attached ( wireless power? )
Also i cannot connect my SGS2 to any PC.
I ordered an USB JIG and downloaded the original firmware for my SGS2 to send it back to Samsung.
Is there any who has a solution for this issue? So i don't have to send it and have to miss my phone ?
Thanks in advance.

Check the usb port. Probably dirty. Try cleaning gently with a dry toothbrush. If that doesn't work, try taking out the battery and cleaning with a q tip and rubbing alcohol. Let it dry completely before putting battery back in.

EDIT: when I said " If that doesn't work, try taking out the battery and cleaning with a q tip and rubbing alcohol. Let it dry completely before putting battery back in.", the cleaning I was referring to was the USB port. Not the battery. Just to be clear.

[Q] Touchscreen problems when connected to computer

Hi there, so when I connect my cell phone to the computer via the USB cable, the touchscreen on my phone acts weird and sometimes I cant even tap anything, does anyone have the same problem?
I also have this problem and would like to know what is causing this.
Are you using original cable?
cable + charger related.
i had same issue with my last htc phone as it acts weird on non-genuine charger, now same chrger do same weird stuff on my S2 but. and the cable if used alone via computer also doesnt work properly. so i threw them few days back.
its a voltage problem, so never use local cable or charger, always use original that came with phone

I always get that notification when i am charing my phone in my car and i turn the ignition off. I think the line gets a spike, because all the other equipement shuts down. Never had on USB charging or regular charger. So probably your power source isn't stable.
This has happened to me a few times. I purchased a longer usb cable from ebay but for some reason, I got this message also. Once I switched to a belkin cable or the cable included with the phone itself, all was fine. So it could be a faulty cable - or you may just need to reset to stock and go from there.
its not a charging problem its when the phone is disconnected

Then likely its the fault of the USB port, or the battery. I'm no expert on hardware issues however, I do know that moisture buildup under the battery cover or in the port has the potential to cause this issue. Try leaving the phone in a bag of rice for a few hours. If that doesn't work, you may have to think about sending it to Samsung for repair.
Seriously this question have been asked for zillion times, try to use search it help!
All you have to do is to clean ur usb port, i used a needle scratched it abit and moved the center piece back to the middle, this should help, if it didn't you need to change ur USB board
Already discussed here, Google search would have retrieved it:

Cannot charge with Wall Charger, only USB works

Hi everyone. I own a GS3 that has been running flawlessly for about 3 weeks but since last 2 days it has developed a problem whereby it only charges via the laptop USB port and not the wall charger. I have tried factory reset, flashed two different custom ROMs based on two different firmwares, pulled battery many times, etc etc, to no avail.
the phone starts charging from wall charger, but after a few minutes, charging stops. I have used the original Samsung charger, my old HTC charger, with a combination of many different USB cables and the result is always the same. The USB port appears to be undamaged
ny suggestion to fix the problem?
Android 4.0.4
I9300BWLH1
Kernel SIYAH S3 V1.5.2
Check your usb port of the s3 maybe its damaged.

Without paying someone to open it up and look into it, process of elimination will help.
blow lightly into the port to remove any dust
Try a different plug in your house
Try your neighbours outlets
Try with a different charger
Try with a different charger cable
worst case, a dab of WD40 shouldn't hurt (should help if any contaminants or rust has accumulated, preventing proper contact)
If your experiencing any major heating on the back plate while charging from the wall then the issue is most likely a bad charging mechanism. I had similar issues with my S2.
I had the same problem, as with many other people. See here if anything helps.

(Even mods got frustrated saying it was a solved issue. Clearly it's still unsolved.)
For me the problem disappeared on its own.. All that changed was I started using a Belkin surge protector.. didn't help initially but then it started charging after a few days..
My guess is it's a software bug.. or some sort of a caching issue..
Btw I'm using latest XXLH1 unrooted.

My Phone is CRAZY !!!

Before two weeks my phone was charging and i accidentally pulled the cable but for the moment nothing happened. My phone was ok and cable was ok. After 2 days when i tried to connect my charger nothing happens. Charger wont work. At first i thought the charger was damaged when i pulled its cable and went to buy a new one. After i bought a new one it was the same problem. After that my phone started to do some crazy things. Airplane mode,Driving Mode,Charging Mode even when it is not connected. I cant do anything. My phone do whatever it wants. I tried to clean the charging port . I blowed in it and tried to clean with some kind of little screwdriver and i tried to charge it agan but nothing. Sometimes it start charging and after 2 days it dont charge anymore. I dont now what to do. I have tried installing stock samsung firmware cuz i thought it is cuz i was on RR 3.1.2 but the same thing. Plz anyone help me. I dont now what to do more.
Use a toothpick to bend the flat connector inside the socket slightly up towards the screen of the phone.

If that doesn't help and you're still on warranty, send the phone to samsung
