[Q] Touchscreen problems when connected to computer - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there, so when I connect my cell phone to the computer via the USB cable, the touchscreen on my phone acts weird and sometimes I cant even tap anything, does anyone have the same problem?

I also have this problem and would like to know what is causing this.

Are you using original cable?

cable + charger related.
i had same issue with my last htc phone as it acts weird on non-genuine charger, now same chrger do same weird stuff on my S2 but. and the cable if used alone via computer also doesnt work properly. so i threw them few days back.

its a voltage problem, so never use local cable or charger, always use original that came with phone

[Q] Problem when using phone while connect to USB

when i connect my phone to USB, i can't seem to use my phone at all... it's very slow and lag, ... if i install the OCLF, does it help? thanks
I had this problem when I used a cheap wall charger. I think it had to do with incorrect voltage or something. When I use the included cable and wall plug, everything works fine. With thaw $2 chargers, the touchscreen wouldn't register or was about 2 inches off or the buttons wouldn't work at all.
Not all chargers are made the same I suppose.

[Q] Weird screen problem

Hi,
I've had a problem with the phone out of the box: when the phone is connected to the charger (non Samsung charger) or the USB in the computer, the touch screen bearly responds. I try to use the phone but it's like the touch panel does not respond, or sometimes it responds and some time it doesn't. Once I disconnect the charger, it goes back to being fully functional.
Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a way to fix this? Is there an app in the market to test whether there is a problem?
Gosh, I hope this is not a HW problem..
Thanks.
I'm guessing that the flow of the electricity might be causing interference to the capacitive sensor as I've experienced this a couple of times on my SGS1.
Haven't had this issue though on SGS2.
Some of the HTC Evo 4G phones had a similar issue when it was launched last year. HTC was able to fix it with a software update. But I don't know if your phone ihas the same underlying cause. If it is easy for you to return, you may want to try that rather than waiting for a fix.
I have a Galaxy S1 and had a similar problem. I bought a non samsung usb cable to charge my phone and it caused it to be unresponsive while connected. As soon as I disconnected it, the phone returned to normal. I bought some samsung data cables from ebay and never had the problem since.
A friend of mine had a Blackberry (i think), and used my samsung cable to try to charge his phone in my car. It never worked.....or atleast his phone never said it was charging.
My guess is the cables may have the same connector, but the wiring my be different.
I could be completely wrong though, but this is the experience I had with the original galaxy s
I've had the same problem with the galaxy s 1. No matter what charger I used though charging via usb made it better.
Happens with a lot of phones, Aridoasis above hit the nail on the head.
If you read the manual you will see that it say that that will happen of you are connected to an unstable power source. Which I think will happen when the cable used to charge the phone somehow doesn't match it.
This happens to me when I used a standard micro USB cable to charge it. But goes away when I use my ATRIX's USB power charger

P7500 (WiFi/3G) doesn't charge, instead goes into MTP mode when plugged in!

I don't know if anybody else has had this problem before, but I hope there is somebody out there who can help me with my problem.
Basically, until a few days ago, my Galaxy Tab 10.1 was working fine until I did a reinstall from a backup as I was having a problem with the device due to it running sluggishly slow and crashing every so often.
Now, for some weird reason, the device won't charge at all when the USB cable is plugged into the official USB AC Adaptor and instead all I get is the "MTP Initialization" message that somebody would usually get when connecting the Tab 10.1 to a PC or Laptop.
It seems to charge when hooked up to a laptop very slowly but that's about it.
If there's anybody out there who can help me fix this problem, it would be most appreciated at all (to be honest, I can't wait until I go back to university in September and I can sell this POS and buy a 64GB Transformer Pad Infinity instead!)
EDIT: I've tried another cable and now it's saying that it's MTP-Connected instead of not MTP-Connecting at all!
Bump as I have a feeling that this isn't a one-off problem and that it's affecting a lot of other Tab 10.1's as well...
Never had that issue.
Are you sure your cable is ok?
Having exactly the same problem, no idea how to fix it at all. Looks like it's faulty usb port, because sometimes my laptop 'recognize' the tablet, but it's very rare (don't really know what does it depend on). I'm afraid sending the tablet to service is the only solution .
Try a different charger, different cable and check the port for debris

I've checked the port and there's no debris in it, I've checked the new cable that I've bought and it's already worn through from the look of things at the end with the plug that connects to the device itself.

[Q] Charging issue

Hi All,
I am facing issues while charging my phone from the wall point. It works alright when plugged in into Laptop.
However, when I replaced the USB cable with my old HTC phone's, the charging works fine even from the wall point.
I have a couple of queries:
1. If the issue is with the cable then how the phone is getting charged via Laptop
2. If I am using a different cable, does it mean harm to the phone? I understand that charge is controlled via adapter, but still...
It's well known that Samsung cables are a piece if $&@/!
If your old htc cable works then go with it. I use an old htc one myself. Don't worry, it's just a cable.

[Q] Funny Charging Problem....HELP!

Well the problem is, that when using a original or any charger, it wont charge the phone at all, doesnt matter what rom or even stock, or with some usb and a plug it wont charge, but only works with one or two usb leads and wall plugs....whats going on lol
If it's cross different roms it sounds like an intermittent hardware problem
