Twitter apps? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

There are so many Twitter apps out there and I'm having a hard time picking one. I used to use the "official" app but it seems to have lots of issues, it likes to give me a black screen if I open it more than 3 times without rebooting, so I'm in the market for another! I don't want anything too heavy, I primarily just read my feed and post tweets. I only have 1 account so multiple account support isn't a requirement.
What do you guys use?

Plume is excellent. There is a paid version also which I use.

I'd go with Plume, Tweetcaster or UberSocial (what was called Twidroyd).
We did a two part Guide on all the best Twitter apps here:

you should try twicca .. hands down the best
TWICCA

I can't believe nobody has mentioned tweetdeck!
It's the best for me (plus you can add a Facebook account)

i used to use tweetdeck before twicca ... but i just like twicca better. the one thing i did like about tweetdeck though that you cant do on the other clients is being able to RT people with protected tweets

Remove Peep - Best replacement?

I'm sure I've seen a way to remove Peep. Maybe it was connecting in and using the command prompt to delete it...
What's the best Twitter replacement? Ideally, I would like one that Tweets and sets my Facebook status at the same time...
Just search the forum, I am sure you'll find it.
First set Peep to manual update or never update in the background.
Log out of Twitter in the Social Networks section of Settings.
Then install Twidroid and Swift and log into Twitter via these apps. Both can be used so you can try them out. Both are Free, and are very good and far less resource hungry than Peep.
Twitter is a lightweight service, but for some reason Peep seems to use a large amount of data.
I bought Twidroid Pro and am keenly keeping an eye on Swift.
I really like Twitdroid, but I like a Widget with it so I use Twidget also.
bouncing between Twidroid and I Tweet at the moment.
there's bits i prefer on Twidroid, and bits i prefer in I Tweet. Not tried the others yet, but i do miss the peep today widget, it's just a shame it drained so much speed from the device.

Everyday use apps

So i like to try new apps all the time and I'm making this topic the way we can share apps for new and old members, maybe is an app you never use before and you guys can try it out and same for me alright so let's start
Read it later, I believe 99cents in the market
Really great app, what it does is if you are in the web browser reading and article, press menu / share and add to read it later, it will save the whole article with pictures but no adds the way you can read it later when you have time use this app in daily basis and is one of my favorites

Tweetdeck for Android / free
Nice app for Twitter and facebook, I don't check Facebook often so this keeps me in the loop about Facebook updates, you can also comment as well, in the Twitter side it supports twitlonger, translate, etc. Anyone with tweetdeck on the computer will definetely check this out

Appbrain/ free
Great app to see recomendations base on your curently installed apps and if you link it to your Google account it will memorize what apps you have downloaded before by device, actually helps a lot sometimes when you switch phones or you flash a lot of roms , use it daily as well

Twitter app to replace Tweakdeck

As you know, Twitter shut down Tweetdeck for Android, I was using a modified version by Modaco (Tweakdeck).
It was an old Twitter client, but it had the ability of putting all your searches in separated and unlimited columns.
So I had the basic colums: Timeline, Mention and DM, but after that I had like 10 searches!
My city name (So I knew what was happening anytime), one of my search was "nexus 4" so I had all the tweets in the world containing nexus 4.
You had add someone timeline as a column itself (If you didn't want to follow him or the timeline was very important).
But now it doesn't work , app was pulled from the PlayStore.
I have installed a lot of apps and no one can do what Tweetdeck or Tweakdeck did..
Do you have an option that I can try?
Nothing?

Twidere
Not sure if you are still looking, but Twidere lets you save searches and it remembers your last position. Pretty minimal client otherwise.
Tweetings is based on the same source, and has a lot more useful features, but saved search tabs in Tweetings are VERY buggy (not useable).

[Solved]What's a free note taking application that has a Windows Desktop Client?

Hi All!
As it says in the title, can someone recommend a good note taking application that has a desktop application?
I've read a bit about the topic and Evernote comes to mind. However, it's not free. Thanks in advance.
Bumping this to the first page.
AFAIK, Evernote is free with additional features added in a premium subscription. If you are looking to something completely free and lightweight, try Google Keep, it provides web access and also Chrome extension.

Yes, Evernote is indeed free up to a certain point but 60MB, even for full text notes, isn't sufficient.
I tried migrating my notes to Keep right now and I think this might actually work. I've read about it in the past but it didn't appeal to me because of the lack of an actual desktop client (I never used Chrome Apps before). Thanks for suggesting it!
Pros:
1. Very clean interface
2. Offline note taking and viewing in both the Chrome Application (More on this later) and the mobile client.
3. All features are free!
4. Sync seems to work flawlessly
Cons:
1.Chrome Application means I have to sign in to Chrome and disable all syncing except for Apps as I don't like syncing my data onto Google.
2. Chrome Application is preventing me from maximizing notes as I edit them. I have wall-of-text type of notes and this really hurts my eyes. I suppose this can be remedied by changing my note taking habits.
3. I can't re-order my notes. They are shown in ascending order by date created?
All in all I think I can make this work. I just need to re-arrange my notes for this specific application. If anyone else has any input or can show me how to relieve myself of the OCD inducing annoyances I've found so far, please chime in
I haven't really used Google keep yet (already a long time user of evernote) but have you looked into one note by Microsoft? It has a free version. Lifehacker.com just did an in depth comparison of evernote and one note. Might be worth looking in to.

Seconding the Microsoft OneNote suggestion. There's a free version for Windows now and AFAIK it also works with their Android app

Yes, I recently saw that article. But this completely shut down the idea for me. Apparently, I'm only able to use this in the paid version:
Create notebooks on your PC. Create notebooks saved to your hard drive (offline) in addition to being saved to your OneDrive. Being able to work with notebooks offline as well as online is great for anyone with a spotty network connection or those who are always on the go.

But, I'm not so sure I understand what it means. Basically, I need to be able to access my notes offline (I don't have a mobile data plan) and once online, be able to sync them again. Since you folks seem to have experience using it, can you tell me how it works?
Honestly, I was able to see the UI of OneNote and it seemed a lot more appealing to me.
I tried out one note briefly awhile ago and it should do what you want. The paragraph you quoted seems to say the same. The notes are saved offline and they sync with your one drive account.

The paragraph I quoted is specifically under the "What do I get in the premium version of this application" section. However, I guess it wouldn't hurt to try. I'll download it now and see how it functions. Will let you guys know. Thanks for the advice!:good:

Might be a little late here, but still - Google Keep has web access from any browser, try keep.google.com. Cheers.

Accessing it from there has the same exact interface as the Keep Chrome Application. Thanks for the suggestion though
I still wasn't able to find the time to test out the free version of OneNote. Been a bit busy today. I suppose I could take a note that I should test OneNote in Google Keep which I'm currently using
I'll make a short review once I'm done doing just that.
Thanks for all the suggestions!
Edit - It seems I haven't found the time to review OneNote. In addition, Keep serves me very well. The only real caveat I have with it is the inability to reorder my notes.
Edit 2- It seems my brain is tired and after a week with no suggestions from other users, I've finally figured out how to move notes around.
One simply needs to click and drag the notes around. < How I didn't figure this one out seems baffling to me. I need to exercise my brain more :'(

What are your must-have/can't live without apps?

Aside from games, which apps can you not live without on your phone/tablet? I have numerous apps I use every day without fail...Some before I even get out of bed.
First port of call is always Gmail, quickly followed by a scan of Google+, Facebook and Twitter
Facebook, Twitter, and in China WeChat is the most popular, Sina Weibo is similar to Twitter (would be daily, but I'm not such an addict that I can't wait to get to my PC)
My favorite todo list manager is AnyDO and I use both the Android app and Chrome extension to manage my deadlines
Chrome, obviously The big daily apps for me...
There are several others that I frequently use, but are not quite daily for me.
Infrequently used, but occasionally invaluable
Quora for Q&A, read millions of fascinating answers about every subject
italki for language learning, communicate with people all around the world and learning by the way
I love having an Android phone. I would feel lost without it. So.... What are your must-have/can't live without apps?
Telegram. I'm using two unofficial Telegram clients for my dual SIM device though : Plus Messenger and Dgram.

You mean the "Telegram" is an app? I have never heard about it, I think it would be very useful for dual SIM and how to get it
Adguard, Lastpass and Outlook. For me these are the top three most important app right now.
NoRoot Data Firewall. Its ability to block hosts, block IP, block apps, set DNS, and block image sistem wide in one VPN service is unmatched yet. That's important because Android can activate only one VPN. Need update though.

The Adguard is the exact app name? I cannot search it on GP... The Ads always annoy me, I think I need one this app

And yea, Adguard is the exact name. But the one you'll find on play store isn't the best version.
Download it from their official website.... https://adguard.com/en/adguard-android/install.html
You can also find it here on xda... http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/adguard-ad-blocker-doesnt-require-root-t2958895/
Lastpass also has a desktop chrome extension. And your data is synced for free. So any login details you save on your phone will be available on your computer and vice versa.
Adguard too is available for your computer (if you're interested).
And since you use fb, g+ and twitter, give reddit a try, if you haven't already. You can directly visit their website @ reddit.com or you can just use their app (named Reddit on play store). At first it might seem overwhelming but trust me, you're going to get addicted.
APP2SD for low internal memory problems and xposed module PREVENT RUNNING..and AMPLIFY for battery save.

:highfive: The developer of Prevent Running comes from China, I used to use it very often, and the Greenify is also awesome.
It seems that the 2SD is also available to hide apps, is an app manager, NICE!

Yep. I use Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Powerpoint for that. I've never tried anything else. Microsoft products worked really well for me. And so I stuck with them.
Btw I sent you a PM. Do check it
