I decided to make this thread to answer anyone's questions on MOSTLY but not limited to the EVO 3D's hardware.
Oh and for those who want to take screen shots hold the power button and quickly tap home for a surprise (only works with stock 2.3.4 Rom)

I got two.
Any chance someone could make a kernel that runs the cores synchronized?
Recommend a accurate CPU widget that shows the current CPU speed?

2 great questions, alright for the synchronization I think they'd have to be ultimate hackers because the snapdragon processor wasn't designed for that so try and make a request
And as for a CPU widget Temp+CPU widget It's great
Hope I helped.

Why the g2x had SO MUCH better benchmark scores now before anyone says I'm *****ing know that I'm not I'm just asking why 2 phones with the same processors have such diff scores the photon NEVER goes over 60 fps in quadrant but the g2x gets like 100+ and out had 1080p video recording like wtf was motorola thinking sprints best motorola phone is average now a data now I'm just asking why cause that's really annoying but honestly this is just a question not *****ing again

because moto blur takes up more processing power ALSO the the photon has a 1ghz dual core and teh e4gt has a 1.2 ghz dual core. same ram i believe... but honestly until internet speeds are crazy increaded and battery life is maximized idc they all run around the same speed imo.
I think the G2X uses a different cpu/gpu.

No the g2x uses the tegra 2 same thing

I think it's software Optimization.
Its almost the same spec, and maybe our photon dont use its full power to conserve battery? Like shut down one core or something?
another viewpoint its the drivers.

Motorola has qHD resolution, so the gpu has to push 25% more pixels.

One of the things that throws of the result is the nonstandard resolution of the Photon. This odd screen size requires scaling be used to run most benchmarks full screen. On an unscaled Smartbench run the scores are much higher than scaled and are fairly close to the GSII NVidia.

There are three different CPU's used in the GSII (NVidia, Samsung, Qualcomm). The benchmarks vary with the Qualcomm being the bottom of the list.
Hello.
I want to buy the Evo 3D. But I met some opinions that second cpu core is almost always offline, even while playing with games or benchmarks.
It is right? Is there any fix for this? What is the situation in stock HTC roms?
Greetings.

It's just for battery life.
If you want both cores to be online, download the free version of system tuner and force both cores online through the cpu tab.

So, without System Tuner, in stock ROMs 2nd core will be always offline?
will not be always offline, it will be offline when you dont' need it, and start when you need it, just as your pc.
when you write on forum it probly use 1 cpu, when you use photoshop it uses 4.
it's just an example!

No. It'll turn on when the phone needs it; if cpu0 gets "over loaded", then cpu1 turns on to relieve stress on the other.

Well I was attempting to be able to over clock my i717 galaxy note...Had received alot of help from some mods and reg personnel here and I finally figured it out installed it and now my note keeps rebooting ? so what can I do am I doing it wrong ? I was and am still hoping to make this work I want to over clock my i717 galaxy note past 15 i was hoping for the 19 or 18 that everyone keeps bragging about ...can anyone help me ? :crying::crying::crying: hahaha I know this can be fixed ...thnx for the help in advance
Just pull the battery and put it back in. Hold volume up and down while pressing power to boot in to recovery. Restore using the backup you created prior to flashing; you did make a backup right?
As far as overclocking goes... a kernel, for the most part, will not affect how far you can oc.

Anyways I reloaded again...so we are clear I loaded h0tkernal-5s1 and now I didn't completely over clock it but I went father than 15000 mhz and it seems to be really stable.....YOU KNOW IN ALL SERIOUS...YOU GUYS ARE REALLY GREAT FOR ALL OF THE HELP......Makes me feel cool or important that someone our all of you take the time to answer anything from me..its a gift to be apart of something this great....thnx for all of you're help...have a great weekend......PHIL
You probably just overclocked it too much. If I go past 1836 my phone keeps rebooting

My phone isn't even stable at that, can't go above 1782 and iirc, that makes it reboot too. Not that it matters, OC really does nothing.

When you oc and your phone and it keeps rebooting you need to add more volt instead of undervolting.

Yeah, mine rebooted on 1736 or whatever it was on benchmarks so I added a bit of voltage and it was happy. I run stock because it's fast enough though was just ducking around then.
Edit-used system tuner pro to over volt

How do I add voltage ? I don't see anywhere to do this
Excellent app, I can vouch for it on the s3, knowing the battery it has been saving me, (%1 in two hours), should hell you guys a lot, the plus of this above similar apps and scripts? No lag! Do thank Eugene.

I guess this should be partly controlled by the governor and init.d config
i know on my amaze 4G, with the interactive setting, the second core is offline most of the time anyways

Nice find, Eugene was the only reason I stuck with my BH2 as long I did (till the mT3G-S dropped).
I wonder if this script/app would interfere with faux's kernels.

There is an app on the play store that emulates Motorola's new active notifications now I know that the reason that works is because of the amoled screen. Does anyone know if the same level of battery efficiency will work with our screens as on the motoX? It works well and is really cool but I keeps the screen on.

Yea I am using it on my Verizon Note 2 running Paranoid Android 3.96 and the battery consumption is very low if not any more than a usual app and is updated everyday or two...I am running it on a 4.3 rom so I don't know how it is on 4.1 and 4.2 roms as the developer just released it for 4.1 and 4.2 roms

Well they're listed as being used for 'contextual awareness' and'natural language' so maybe the contextual processor has something to do with it. this all depends though on how those processors operate on a firmware level. big difference if they are simply nonconputing but aware cores used to activate the main application processors like most sensor processors or they actually run specific software actions like Motorola seems to be alluding to with the nomenclature.
I would suggest running a hotplug governor to produce a similar effect.

almost every kernel that allows customization has some type of hotplug governor, although they don't always call it that. Hotplug simply means it only (should) turn on cores when they are needed. theoretically, that means your phone should only be running one core to display the active notifications. do your research on whatever kernel peaks your interest and try it out.
