Can someone help me? I just moved to PW GB and want to keep gmail 2.3.4 so Launcher Pro still works with the email count on the dock. The problem is after I back-rev it via TB it will auto-update back to 2.3.5 after awhile.
I tried detaching gmail from the market but that doesn't seem to work. I thought that's all I had done back on the froyo PW ROM, and it seemed to work fine, unless I'm forgetting something.
I THOUGHT all I needed to do was deselect "Allow Automatic Updating" in the market for gmail, but there is no checkbox when I bring it up. Does anyone know why, or some other way?
Thanks,
Kidd_Funkadelic
I think I might have it- I ran Market Doctor, and re-linked gmail to the market, now the allow auto updating checkbox has appeared. It's not checked, which is what I want, so I hope it works...
NEVERMIND: This still isn't working- it just updated again.
This is killing me- I have a TON of Launcher Pro widgets and it take me a friggin half hour to start over setting up my home screens each time I try to do this...
Any ideas? Google has been a major thorn in my side on this one...

Did you ever find a solution for this?

I can't seem to find anything that touches on this, so I thought I'd go ahead and ask.
My girlfriend (who is in another state at the moment for a couple months) is concerned someone has 'hacked' her phone.
As much as I know right now, she had her phone sitting on her desk and it came on, out of sleep, bypassing her pattern lock and started automatically downloading and updating her Maps app. She does not have her phone rooted or modded in anyway, just some additional apps (none that deal with app management) and as far as I know (I have a Samsung Vibrant) there are no 'automatically update' option in any of the menus.
Anyone have any idea? I know this is very little information, but it's all I can grab right now and I had a few minutes.
Thanks in advance for any responses!

Just to be sure, she has an Eris, correct? I only ask because if her Android Phone (since it's not rooted) is not an Eris then it could have Android OS 2.2 (Froyo), and the Android Market for Froyo does have an option (she would've had to toggle it on somehow) to autoupdate individual apps.
If she definitely has a unrooted Eris and therefore running 2.1, it may still be possible that she installed the Market from 2.2 (there are various sources to do so), although it doesn't sound likely from your description. She would be aware if she did that, too.
I would double check to make sure she has the phone set to only install apps through the Market:
Long-press Menu
Settings
Applications
Make sure that "Unknown sources" is unchecked.
I don't know if it would still be possible for a malicious app to be installed with it unchecked, but it should definitely reduce the probability.
I've seen weird things happen on all sorts of electronics/computers/phones so unless something else suspicious happened, or she has good reason to believe someone did something to her phone in person that would allow them to do things to it remotely, then I wouldn't sweat it yet.
I originally used security software on my phone, but I haven't for a long time.
If she wants to be certain nothing has invaded her phone, then she could do a factory reset:
Long-press Menu
Settings
Privacy
Factory data reset
This will erase everything that didn't come with her phone. Without root access, noone could've done anything permanent to it.
When she boots the phone after the reset, and puts her Google email and password in, Google will automatically restore her Contacts and Calendar (takes several minutes if a lot of data), but she would have to either manually reinstall and reconfigure her apps, or use a backup program like Titanium Backup, or My Backup Pro. MBP is much slower but recent versions have gotten faster and overall I've had better success with it than TB, but many people swear by TB so it just depends.
Good luck.
After hacking the phone to run webtop without the docks, I was just going about my phone and was curious about the "System updates" button and got this:
Social Networking account required
"com.android.setttings.deviceinfo.CheckUpdate" is not available without a social networking account. To create a new account, click "Setup" button
When I click the setup button, nothing happens. Did I mess up one of the files during the process of hacking my phone, because before attempting the webtop hack, when I still had root and adeo on, I did not get this message.
Account syncing: my facebook account will not sync with the contacts on my phone. The social networking app and widget is not running properly for the same reason as from the message given above ^^.
Can someone help me with this? Thanks
Did you use Titanium Backip to freeze apps. This is a symptom of freezing apps. To get this to work unfreeze all your apps and make sure the MotoBlur account is syncing.
I didn't use titanium backup to freeze any of the apps. I'm still kind of new to android and so I might need some guidance in more simpler terms
Did you create a blur account?
yes and it was already linked when I received my unit on the 21st
would it be reasonable to attempt a factory reset, even though I rooted it and installed ADEO?

What exactly does freezing do? I can't seem to find a answer on the net. Can one manually "defrost" a frozen app?

I think so, I'm pretty sure TiBu just adds a ".bak" to the application because when you freeze something it's still in your app drawer until you restart your phone vs when it's uninstalled its gone instantly. The benifit to freezing vs uninstalling is if you freeze the wrong thing or want it back it's still there, but if you uninstall it it's gone and you'd need to ask someone else for it or something.
anyone solved this error? I also got the error today
Is your phone deodexed? That could be the problem maybe.

Adeo v0.2 will break your Blur widgets.
So now that adeo does this how can i get upfates

OK this is an odd one
Using Gingerstreak 2.4.4 and was trying to flatten the battery to get it to calibrate.
It got REALLY flat, it would appear, but once it rebooted the phone seems to have done a Factory Reset and all my settings, apps and widgets have gone!
Contacts have restored from my account OK, but Google Play won't show a list of apps i've purchased. Is there any way to get them to show up or do I have to search manually for them?
Yeah I know I should backup but obviously I haven't. What's the best route back to where I was?
I installed Swype on my TP yesterday and everything seemed fine, but today I keep getting the message that [bunch of asian characters] has stopped. I had no idea what it possibly could be since I don;t know what it says so I thought it might be Swype and went into Input on Settings to turn Swype off. Now, under KEYBOARD AND INPUT METHODS the first thing says Default and under it is a bunch of Asian characters. Under that is all the input methods. The interesting thing is there are two selections that are checked yet grayed out so I can't deselect them which are Japenese IME and the last one is those Asian characters. What is going on and how do I get rid of them?
OK. I went through all my Apps in Settings and at the very end is one named with Asian characters. Under the name it says version 4.0.3-eng.erik.20120221.223654. It doesn't give me the option to uninstall it, but I have disabled it. I don't download a lot of apps, and I certainly don't download shady looking apps, so where did it come from and how do I get rid of it??????
It could be something else pushed on you - some apps with the Networks and Internet permissions push random apps to your phone without you knowing it (or explicitly allowing it). My girlfriend has a music app that does it to her sometimes, and it's annoying, but not malicious (at least, not that I've seen).
I tried deleting it through Titanium but it didn't work so I decided to try installing the Nightly version of CM9 and that got rid of it completely. Still, weird!

installing applications on your phone/tablet without your "permission" is the definition of malicious.
IIRC there has been some sort of Asian language keyboard in CM9/ICS for a while. I remember disabling it a while ago, not sure why its included in an English version of the OS.
Well, when I installed the Nightly build all Japanese-related input choices disappeared, so maybe they aren't included in CM9 anymore? Whatever the reason, I am happy it is solved.

It was considered a system app to Titanium, and to the phone as well, I guess. Titanium said it would do some special thing and the phone would reboot twice and it would be gone. Well, when it was finished doing its thing the app was still there. I think I tried using Titanium to remove the stock Music app that came with the phone and it didn't work right then, either. I can't remember how I got rid of that, but I eventually did.
I've searched around and haven't found anything like this so I'm posting to see if my fellow XDA GN3 users might be experiencing something similar.
Whenever I press on an email link either nothing happens or the it crashes the Android System.
It is most apparent in the Gmail app; I press on an email link expecting it to open a new reply window but instead it locks up for a second then it prompts me with a "Unfortunately, Android System has stopped." notification. If I long press on the email then I get the "options menu" Nova Launcher provided.
When I press a email link in the Chrome app it simply doesn't do anything, no crash, no gmail reply window... Just nothing.
I'm curious what is causing this instability. Is it Nova Launcher (suspect)? Is it Gmail? Is it something else?
Has anybody experienced this or anything similar? Any solutions?
I tried clearing the cache and data but that didn't work. I'm open to any suggestions.
Edit: Submitted report to Google, could be a Gmail issue.

This is correct.
Rooted, TWRP, DeOdexed Stock ROM
What other apps have you noticed crashing? Have you any clues on whats causing it?
I'm aware that we're in the testing phase of development, some things are going to be unstable.
So far the issues I've noticed aren't a big deal to me, it is just nice have everything fully functioning, operational.

I'm also running Freeza's rooted stock DeOdex ROM and have noticed that the native email app is VERY unstable. I set up my account manually so did not do a restore or anything else. I know about the issues with restoring apps from TiBu, but Viperboy has applied a bandaid fix with his TB Restore Fixer app, which I used when I restored my apps. Wondering if restoring apps is causing some kind of issue with the native email app?
Did either of you restore apps when you started noticing this? Again, this, for me, is ONLY an issue with the native email app; I've not experienced an issue with any other apps (that I know or or can tell).
My gmail crashes everytime I click on a Facebook link. Weird.

Nope, I only just minutes ago created my first Titanium Backup... My issue seems pretty isolated to Gmail (clicking any email address link) so far, I haven't noticed any other apps acting up. I'm just long pressing the link till I get the option to send mail, rather than short press and crash the system.
