[Q] Want to flash ROMs.... - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok ima start by saying ive looked and searched and now im more lost than before i started... lol Ive flashed my cappy a bunch but i was waiting for gingerbread on my atrix, and now im so far behind on whats going on i dont know where to start. Was gonna start with cwm but then read some and thought i needed to root first, started that and now thought i need to unlock first. All i want is root and to flash roms. What order do i need to go in. Also not sure what cmw to use. Thanks in advance for anyhelp

You need to unlock the bootloader first, then install CWM, as for which version you should use it's tenfar's. After you've got that installed you'll be able to what you want.

Hey I am confused too coming from a x10 too. Lol I am taking it slow. If I recall the easiest method to root I think is the fast method if you can find a tortourial.

I made a mistake not a big deal get over it
..just wondering why some people want to do all this custom stuff to their tablet like installing a custom recovery to flash ROMs/etc, but don't want to root the device..? Huh, I don't get it. Rooting is pretty harmless. Please no offense to the OP, I'm just curious is all. The first thing I do is give myself root access then I start thinking about what I want to do with my device

Having actually read the OP, I think his issue is that he is on .21 for which there currently IS no root procedure, and he wants to know how, in the absence of root, he can flash recovery so that (perhaps) he can install a ROM which is rooted.

I used the Asus unlock tool, then I flashed the ClockWork Recovery Official "TOUCH" recovery v5.8.1.8,
Cleaned, wiped everything, and formated...
Then installed
[ROM] [04/11/12] Primalicious 9.4.2.21 to get back on ICS .21
So playing with it now.....so to speak

New user... Couple of questions.. Thanks!

Hey guys,
I just got this device and I'm loving it so far... I'm a T-Mobile customer, so I'm looking to flash a tmobile radio and Rom. The thing is I bought this from someone who used a toolkit to root it and unlock the bootloader. It's also running insert coin Rom and twrp.. I know nothing else is done besides that. This is my first non Samsung device, and Im used to the simplicity of Odin , I really dont want to screw anything up... Anyone have some advice? Thanks in advance...

I am probably not certified to answer this question. But my suggestion is-
You are searching here ( your best bet) so maybe search youtube for how to video's on "un"rooting and going back to stock. They normally have links to downloads that you need.
what is wrong with just leaving it unlocked and rooted, just flashing a different rom?

This will get you back to near stock T-mo >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2281943
your best off to stay away from a radio update unless your having a problem.
Leave the recovery as is for now till you learn more about your phone
make a backup from TWRP and store it in a safe place (other than on the phone) before you go flashing roms (just a good practice anytime)
all the popular roms in the international section will work on your phone, Android Revolution HD, TrickDroid, insertcoin ...etc, just take your time and read a lot
Thanks for the suggestions guys... So even though I'm s-on, I can still flash a different Rom?

[Q] I Have Some Questions! (Please Help)

Hello, i picked up the s4 yesterday from verizon. Well, stupid me, i updated it right when i got it not knowing that i would not be able to root.
Anyways, i know alot of developers are trying to find a bypass/etc.
Here are the questions i have!
Once they find a bypass and i can root, can i use this recovery?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2281367
If i flash cm10, once i root of course will i have to flash a kernal? If its not required i may want to, And would i flash it before or after i install cm10?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2305263
Kernel
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2319243
Do you think the developers will be able to unlock the stupid bootloader?
And how many numbers on the flash counter will it take to come up with a triangle?
Thank you so much, sorry for all the questions!
Note-i am no noob with flashing/roms etc, i had a droid x2 and flashed every rom out there, samsung is a whole lot different with different kernels, the flash counter, etc!

U would be able to use any kernel just as long its for the s4 and for the rom u choose, I have tried just about all of them but always went back to the stock kernel for battery life. I've always flashed the kernel after the rom. As far as recovery I prefer twrp but when I used any aokp or aosp I used cwm. Really shouldn't make much difference. Hope I've helped u some.
Thanks

Nothing yet, I updated my new 32 gig s4 without knowing, once I found out I called Verizon and told them I was having data issues and they send me out another which will be activated and then pulling sim, rooting, and flashing. Hopefully they all haven't been updated.

Are you making sure to check and compare the md5 from what you've downloaded to what the dev has for each ROM to make sure they did indeed download without any error?

Haha, fair enough. I figure it's always best to start with the easy questions, don't want to replace a motor when all you needed was an oil change, you know?
What recovery are you using? TWRP, or CWM, and have you tried flashing with another recovery other than the one your currently using?
I know it seems dumb, but sometimes some ROMs don't like to play nice with certain recoveries.
