Hi this is my first post. That is why I cannot post this to the gingerstreak thread. I am getting the flashing lights after install and I have flashed the dsp .zip with streakmod. How do I stop the lights?

You're using the latest SD 2.3? are you sure you flashed both of the newest ones together and correctly?
What does your baseband version say? it's under settings -> about phone -> scroll down

If it says unknown you didnt flash the baseband correctly. You should redownload it and retry
Flashing lights usually indicates an incorrect amss. Did you flash the mbn files via fastboot?
Do I flash them back to back then reboot/factory reset? Thanks for your time.

It is my understanding that amss and dsp1 files had to be flashed using fastboot. I could be wrong about this, but I have always used fastboot. See below;
You need to use fastboot to get amss.mbn on your streak. (if you don’t have fastboot and have never heard of it, see this guide to get up to speed: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php? t=776883) So put amss.mbn in the same folder as fastboot.exe, open command prompt and change the directory to the same folder that contains fastboot.exe. Then put your phone into fastboot mode, and issue the following command: fastboot -i 0x413c flash amss amss.mbn
Sorry it takes a bit to reply it says I have to wait 5 minutes to reply....i thought the amss-dsp zip was streakmod flashable it seemed to work when I tried it..i will read up on fastboot and try that...what is the code to flash the dsp file and do I flash these before or after the rom? Sorry for all the questions.

fastboot -i 0x413c flash dsp1 dsp1.mbn to flash the dsp1 file. I dont think you can just flash the zip file. Thats why fards said if you dont know how, dont do it. Research and be careful flashing!

Blinking Issue after updating to 2.3.3

Can any one help me with the Blinking Issue that I am experiencing after installing 2.3.3 update.
I purchased streak 5 with 2.2 pre bundiled. After getting the phone, I installed 2.3.3. Thanks for XDAdevelopers for the updates and packages. It helped me a lot as I am not a geek.
After installing 2.3.3, I have noticed blinking leds(home LED, Back LED, and Middle LED) for every 4-5 min when the is in ON state.
Please let me know, how to resolve this issue. Thnx in advance.

You didn't read this thread before you posted. The reason WHY you're having flashing LEDs is given in it.
Your baseband is wrong, being a 2.2.2 baseband. It looks like you flashed the Olleh ROM (407), so it's not possible to flash the files separately, although I believe the DSC ROM does have the 407 files available for download in the thread. If they don't have the files, the only thing to do is to try flashing the ROM again.
I fear I may have done the same thing. I've got a stock 2.2, wanted to upgrade it to StreakDroid 2.4.4 and flashed the amss and dps1 files through fastboot without a problem but I've got the blinking lights problem. And I tried to flash the new ROM but it was unsucessful, maybe as I cannot rename the stock recovery file (is there an app that allows me to change the properties of /system/etc folder to make it writable?).

Blinking leds just means that the kernel is not matched with your rom
But it wont affect ur device
My streak had blinking leds for 4 months after flashing new rom...... After that it automatically stopped

No one reads or cares to use Google? Flashing lights as before stated means a mismatch between kernel and baseband files...
You have one of two choices:
A) flash correct amss.mbn and dsp1.mbn files for your ROM and kernel
OR
B) use one of _n0p_'s kernels that is compiled to ignore the baseband mismatch (he created the kernels that way so we could use the last Froyo baseband files (369) with Gingerbread based kernels and ROMs because the Froyo basebands gave better data connection and stability)
Now you have more than enough in this post to have search terms to fix blinking LED issues

hey .. i need your help and im a little desperate...
i found out that eclair is available for the streak so i thought id upgrade to it!..
and now my phone is bricked..
here is what i did to my phone before it got bricked (in chronological order)
1. downloaded the Update.pkg file
2. tried to root my dell streak with Super user 3 to 4 times because it dint seem to work.
3. used unversal androot ( selected the unroot 1.5/1.6 option)
4. it rooted ( i guess)
5. put the update.pkg file on the SD card
6. went to boot loader mode
7. selected the 2nd option
8. press the shutter button to start the process
9. it showed that it was updating
10. and voila it is bricked! (only the dell logo appears)
could you please tell me how to unbrick it or get 2.1 working?

I had the same problem , spent all day trying to fix it, if you perform this command fastboot-windows.exe -i 0x413c flash boot c:\6941_boot.img you should be able to boot your phone.

yes, it should work on any version
Currently my Dell is NOT rooted, with custom recovery and custom modaco (unlocked UK Streak). Is this supported?

ive had alot of force closes and restarts ever since i put one of steves roms on....to no avail i have not gotten any real help...i just wanna go back to the stock rom and root that and do a few tweeks to it and im done flashin roms.....whats the best way to acheave this?

done that already doesnt work...ive been through 1.7.1 it was ok but still FC's 1.8.1 FC city. alot of restarts. 1.9.0 hangs up wit dell logo sometimes, freezes when data connection is turned on while restarting i have to restart 100 times....no real game play without freezing...i just wanna use this for games as well without the freezing....
I've just gone back to stock exactly because of these issues, I downloaded the QDL tool (guides and downloads here) and used this to flash 2.2 stock. It seems fine so far!
i tried the qdl tool and it puts 305 back on my streak but i cant update anyfurther past that what do u sudjest
Sure you can. Get the download for the 309 or 318 update package and load it on your streak's sd card named update.pkg then go into recovery and manually flash it.

What happens when you hold both volume buttons down and power on the device while keeping the volume buttons held down? anything different than normal booting up? You can download the recovery files in the wiki and try manually flashing the recovery then manually flashing one of the stock roms.
If you used QDL to get to 305 you should be able to use the url for 318 to just download and install it:
http://mobileupdate.dell.com/?version=GAUSB1A121100
Use that url in your android browser and go through the update. It will download build 318 which is the latest OTA update released from Dell for unlocked baseband (which if you used QDL you are now on)

the only other time ive had to flash a recovery was the first time i got my phone and the instructions stated to use the following command

fastboot -i 0x413c flash recovery recovery.img
so do i do it the same way? do i need to specify where in memory or can i take that part out?

Hi all,
I was installing custom roms back in the xda 2 days but eventually moved over to iphone and now im swtiching to android. (I love the new site by the way!)I have an (o2) streak arriving tomorrow and would like to get the best out of my device.
I have tried my best to do my research over the past few days before making my first post and now I have some questions if I may...
To flash a rom I need to:
1. Install fastboot
2. Root device using androot or superboot
3. Install clockworkmod recovery
4. Download rom and flash to device
If my device comes with 1.6 I need to update to 2.1 first.
Roms...
The ROMs I have come across so far:
- O2 2.2
- Custom Streakdroid by Djsteve http://streakdroid.com/?page_id=15&did=26
All others that I have seen seem to be in alpha.
So am I right in thinking that streakdroid is the most advanced but stable rom so far?
Is there any backup tools / failsafes that I can use before starting all this?
Do I need to worry about baseband? Do I follow this?...

If somebody let me know if I've understood the above correctly and if I'm ok to proceed with flashing tomorrow?

I have done some searches and it seems stock 351 is the latest non-custom rom. Is this what I will recieve from o2 in the OTA upgrade? Am I not missing out on a load of extra features if I use this instead of a custom rom?

I carried out all previous steps and now this is what I've done:
1. copied update-1.6.1.zip to the root of sd card. It said I needed to copy a .pkg but the streakdroid package comes in a zip so i copied that on instead.
2. Installed the recovery image
3. Booted into recovery menu and selected update via update.pkg on sd card.
Now the streak has the Dell logo with an ! exclamation mark and it's just sitting there. Have I done it correctly? It says it takes 10 minutes but I'm a bit worried because there is no progress meter there.
Some one please let me know if I've done the right thing as I'm too scared to touch it now in case I brick it!

Ok i figured i had to press the power button to get the menu but now i cant get the menu back! Every time I select the option it tales me to: android system recovery utility
When I try to do a recovery it says verification failed...any pointers?
It depends on what you have done so far. You are best starting with the latest official update for your phone using system update, then installing the fastboot drivers on your pc, installing new recovery, either streakmod or clockworkmod and then installing djsteves over that if you want a custom rom.
Instructions for each step are evident in forums, but If you require further assistance, just ask

Thanks for the reply. I flashed the recovery again and it allowed me into the advanced menu again which enabled me to flash. It's all working now but I have just noitved 1 thing....
I flashed with update-1.6.1.zip from http://streakdroid.com/?page_id=15 but have just found update-1.9.0.zip from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1003525

When it's on the dell exclamation screen you press the power button to bring up the recovery screen.

I am running Stock 2.2.2, I just rooted my phone with gingerbreak, then i installed rom manager, clicked the flash clockwork recovery thing, when my phone rebooted its showing the following in a black screen

2 days before i flashed the dell streak rom by mistake...after that i'm not able to do a recovery...
when i boot the phone it shows the dell logo...but after a few seconds it disappears and am not able to see what is going on...
when i try to enter fastboot mode...i dont get the fastboot screen at all...i cant see what ever happens on my screen...if i have to know if i am in fastboot mode i have to use commands
i dont even know when i have entered recovery even though i flashed the required items to be flashed i.e., boot recovery system
i am not able to see anything on my phone....
can u guys help me out of this or should i take my phone to the dell service center to get it rectified...

This 2.2.2 my service center guy left it after recovering my venue from sleep .
I will try and upload it tomarw .
Meanwhile can some one share with me . Is there any negative if I flash that 408 oleh. Package.

Yes it is 2.2.2...apparently they are releasing official GB for venue next month...will have to try that also soon...and also new phones

I ve a Dell venue. While i was watching clip on yotube. The report MIUI appeared and restarted my Venue. But i hang on logo "Dell" even not entered bootmode, fastboot. Examp: Pw + Volumn - ,Mute on + Volumn + - + Cam key. But it not work probly. what can i do ?

try to remove the battery for few minutes then start the phone in recovery mode(flash ur desired rom through it) if recovery mode is not coming then again try to pull out the battery the start the fastboot mode( flash stock recovery and place update.pkg in sd card) and if both r not coming go to dell service center.
