Hi guys, I'm new on XDA and a new HTC HD2 user.
I got my HTC HD2 two days ago and first of all I must say I have no experience in installing and flashing yet.
I have Windows 6.5 on it. It seems I have my HTC with EnergyROM installed.
In my tools folder I have a Launch Android app. My SD card is empty (just bought it).
I want to have both WinMo 6.5 and Android 2.3.* installed at the same time and choose being able to choose which one to run (the android should be installed on the sd card) . Can someone point me towards the right direction on how to do this?
What are the risks of doing this?
ps1. I'd like to use the Launch Android app provided with EnergyROM to do this if possible.
ps2. I know it might have been asked already, but I feel much safer if the answer is given to me.
Have a look here.
Find an android build you would like to use.
Follow the instructions in the thread.
The Launch Android app on the energy rom is basically just a shortcut to allow you to launch android with one click.
There are two files you need to run in order to boot Android and this app does that for you.
This will make sense after some time reading through the forum I linked you to above.
Dont worry too much as running an SD card build cant damage your phone in any way. You will always have WinMo there as a backup.
Hope that helps.

That's exactly what I wanted to know! Thank you very much!
Do you have any advice? Which build is smoother and faster from your experience?
Its been a long time since I used an SD version of android.
A lot of it is personal taste.
The good thing about the SD versions is that you can just swap between the by copying different folders from your pc to your sd card. All your settings will still be there intact.
In fact you can keep multiple builds on your card and just rename the folders.
"Android"
"Android1"
etc... The folder titled "Android" is the one that will boot if your using an app to launch it so just rename them as needed.
As for suggestions, I dont like HTC Sense for Android so I always used the CyanogenMod or AOSP Roms. Try a sense ROM and a standard android to see what you prefer.
AmericanDroid is a good one. (No HTC Sense)
@conantroutman,
does running android from sdcard drain the battery faster and does android run slow if ran from sdcard ?... reason am asking because I intend to use android only from sdcard and just retain Win6.5 as primary OS.
EDIT: btw which one do u suggest froyo or gingerbread ?
To answer quickly.
Yes and yes.
However, its worth it to have 2 os's
If you spend some time setting up android you can get good battery life and a good build will only be a little slower than normal.
I'd recommend GB but try both and see what suits you best.

2) where would i find drivers to get my PC to pick up my phone, I don't have a working CD-Rom on my work computer and would like my PC to pick up my phone.
Sorry for being a complete n3wb but i just pick this phone up, and after being in the RIM world for four years i'm a winmo idiot.....
1) If you only need a theme don't flash. But new ROMs will provide you so many good thing that you should give them a try. Read the sticky about how to flash hardSPL then you'll be able to change ROM as you want.
2) If you're on XP install ActiveSync 4.5 or more. On Vista, I think Windows Mobile Device Center is installed by default, if not install it
PS : you're not an idiot, asking questions is the purpose of the forum

Okay lets say i want This ROM on my phone how do i go about doing it.
I looked at the sticky's titles and didn't see anything remotely close to a subject line comparing to what i was looking for.
For Android it's different : format a SD card to FAT32, then extract the ZIP content to its root, then launch haret.exe and wait for Android to launch.
Be carefull, since it's not a cold boot, it's very slow

You are my hero for the week..... now that i have the Hero OS on my Dual Touch do i use Android Applications or PockectPC applications?
AND
tHE HTC Hero is not picking up my SIM card and will not give me service.... but when the phone is WinMo "mode" it works perfectly....
According to the Android dev center there is CDMA support for Android 1.6. On HTC's development center there are open system images for Android, and even radio ROMs (probably GSM as they are for the Dream). I was wondering if there was anyone capable of making anything for the Titan anytime soon? Sprint's releasing the HTC Hero with android on it today, and maybe there will be luck on porting that to Titan or something of that nature.
Heres the HTC Dev Center link.

I would love to try this on my retired titan if some one need help testing
I don't think you can "flash" android to the titan (not that I know of anyway), but you can use haret to boot into android from the SD card. I'm not sure if anyone has a 1.6 build running, but I've ran 1-1.5 before. It's not the most stable thing, some features don't work, but it is usable.

I just tried version 1 I guess thats what it was. DAMN!! thats all i can say.. Was Daaaamnnn... I wanna see this availiable for 1.6 it looks real sharp and it actually makes the xv6800 run smooth as silk like it should...
sort of working
I was able to get the version from the first post booted from the memory card. It was the first time i had used the interface and I must say it was promising. however my 6800 is not my primary phone and is not provisioned on Verizon's system. the WI-FI was not working and therefore I coud not get google maps to get any data. it would not use the usb calbe either.
thanks for pointing me to the threads above.
1.6 does work on the Titan BUT GPS is broken in the vogue-android files out there ATM.
Google vogue-android and you should find the right files and a good guide, its the one on code.google.com.
Enjoy.
So this will definetly work on the Titan? I am just paranoid.
http://code.google.com/p/vogue-android/
That zip file from the older thread. Is there a newer one since I am sure the files have changed?
edit: oh that zip file is not online anymore. So can anyone zip the new files and post it here? Thanks!
I am also looking to get 1.6 running on my Titan, I can't get the marketplace to run with any of the 1.5's i install.
i got myns warm donut to work on my titan, but i can only load it through haret. im thinking that if someone made an .NBH file to load through RUU utility, we may be able to NAND this!
edit.. it works, but when the screen locks.. it wont recognize the menu button to unlock
your power button is the menu button when the screen locks
Warm on Titan....Wow!
May I ask, which version of MYNS Warm did you use and which keyboard panel?
I can't wait to try it out. I am currently enjoying RLS3 on my kaiser.

There is a good pack on a site called NerdIT. I can't do outside links yet (stupid forum rules!). But type this into Google: Android ION titan and look for the NerdIT release.
Then go to this forum and look at the 3rd page of "Android Titan Package" for the proper default.txt.
and use the default.txt I've put up there. This will show the proper resolution. It works pretty well, but it's sloooow so overclock with the Nue tool. The hard buttons are weird but there are sites to show you what they do.
So does Myn's Warm donut work fine with the mogul?
Runs smooth?
All i wanna know is if
* the keyboard works
* Internet connection works
* Making Phone calls work
* text works
Im trying to help a friend out who has a mogul.
And since you guys have first hands experience thatll be great.
(i don't need instructions on how to do this; very familiar with haret.exe and .nbh cuz im currently using myn's on nand for my htc vogue.)
thanks again if you can provide any info.

well, mym's runs at OK speeds with a fast enough SD card, mine isint fast so i stick with the old google ion android 1.5 build, it runs fast and has very few glitches, obviously, camera, wifi and bluetooth dont work fully but market works partially (no paid apps show up). with a fast enough SD card id actually reccomend mssmison's eclair build, it runs just as fast as mym's warm donut but its on android 2.1 witch means it has a ton more features. if you wish i will upload my default.txt and zimage files because the zimage is a pain to get the updated version for the mogul and the default.txt has a few modifications. just send me a PM and ill upload the files for you.

You have to initiate the install i believe.
When you run haret.exe you have to press and hold the center button on the d-pad
Press and hold that button as soon as your phone restarts (as a result from clicking run on haret.exe)
Just keep holding the center button and a menu should pop up in about 20 seconds or less. use the directional pad to navagate and choose
install system on ext2 partition
install data on ext2 partition
Now if you didnt make ext 2 partitions (sd card just purely fat32)
then you choose install system
Can someone give me the kink?
Can someone please give me a link of android that runs on the mogul with marketplace and the steps on how to get internet working on it. Thanks
does this also work with the ppc 6800 titan that is unlocked?
i mean i have spl-2.40 with ppck 23569 running.
isnt the mogul and titan the same thing?
i google "mogul phone" and it returns with ppc6800 which i believe is my phone but called the TITAN
idk.
Hi,
I am planning to install Android on my company HD2 but have the following questions :
- I see that radio (don't really know what it is but nevermind) has to be upgraded. In case my phone completely freezes, what would be the procedure to revert to the factory setting with WinMo ? (I have a HTC HD2 Sense without any specific operator rom)
- Up to now, (Sep 16), what would be the easiest tutorial to follow for a beginner and the most stable Rom. I'd like ideally the HTC Sense one if possible. I have a 16GB Class10 Micro SD card.
thank you very much for your answers.
Greg
You're posting in the wrong thread. But...

For a stable ROM to use with Android... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=734238
You don't have to flash android on you HD2.
It's not possible, yet.
All you have to do is download an android version (just choose one) and copy the "android"-folder to your SD card.
If you're ready, open "CLRCAD.EXE" in the android folder (nothing happens, thats ok). After that open "HARET.EXE". Android is booting.
If you want to go back to WinMo, just restart your phone.
That's all.
I'm mostly a business user and neither Android or WP7 can fully do what poor little 6.5 can do as of now.
I did search this & saw in a link in:
HTC Leo: HD2HD2 Windows Phone 7HD2 Windows Phone 7 Q&A and General
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=922030
but I thought that since 6.5 would have to be ported to an SD card, this topic shoould be in HD2 6.5 section? So I thought I'd start a thread here for any news or updates....
I know Cotulla/DFT is working on it. I would imagine there'd be a great interest in this. I personally can't wait.
Also a Question:
If/when it is ported, would a ROM have to be specifically made for each port i.e. Dutty ROM or KWBR ROM or would you be able to drop any ROM onto SD card?
I guess with 300,000+ subscribers I'm the only one....

I'm sorry if i come off as impatient. I'm really not. Just thought if the interest level was high, it would be more likely to happen sooner. I'll live just fine with what i got until it happens.

"poor little 6.5 can do as of now"....
well in my opinion it's not., my 6.5 is a BEAST! thats why i didnt switch yet to wp7 or android.. winmo 6.5 is the main source of everything stable and fast.. without it there will be no wp7 and android on our hd2..
Hi, I also would like this to happen, as i have inported WP7 to my HD2 which is good but lacks good apps.
As for WP7 im looking for a good sat nav like Tomtom and Copilot live 8, but they both say that they are not making one for WP7.
Thats why I would like to run WP7 and have a SD bootable WM6.5 for Tomtom or Copilot which I had before on my HD2 WM6.5
So please can someone make one
I to think being able to boot Window Mobile 6.5 from SD would be really awsome. We all know that the DFT has annouced they are working on makeing this possible but I beleive this is going to be even harder and take much longer than Andriod did. You have to take into consideration the meir size of the Windows Mobile 6.5 OS is so much bigger than other OS's. So compiling all the code to work in a SD format is going to take time. But if anyonr can do it the DFT are the ones. I really wish there was something I could do to help those vuys out with this venture, but I am not versed enough with writting and compiling code yet to be of any real assistance.
Kudoes to the DFT and all thier hard work.
wm6.5 to sd card
hi,
this is exactly what i wish, i hav tried wp7 on hd2 android sd version, but what makes wm6.5 as my preferd os is
- wm6.5 is less dependant on cellular data connectivity
-ease of access to file system through file explorer and total commonder, though android has evolved from very little to a lot better explore but still u cant beat the wm6.5
- a lot of file and work can be accessed & edited if u wish to work offline
- wp7 & android have made user more dependant on online storage of documents & programs so i feel like being dependant on the online storage
- Most important point is that the progrem setup cabs can be saved on the device and it gives the ease and conveniance to install mod or work back to user coustomization without the need to connect to the desktop/laptop or data connection.
So all in all wm6.5 is still preferable as a choice as one of the os if there is dual boot(in my case wp7&wm6.5 dual boot)
all i can say is though i do like wp7 but until it gives evolves to the freedom & ease offer wm6.5 i think we feel the need of having wm6.5 sd port/rom.
if any developer will be working on porting wm6.5 to sd card i will be happy to contribute to him.
Please if any developer is already doing so then kindly point me to that place
My gut feeling is this won't happen :-(

@pinkjpr: there's a solution for your last problem, though it's a bit complicated. Install your program via the marketplace. Then also need ASTRO file manager (probably other tools, maybe even free ones, will be suitable as well). Now go to tools-->SD-Backup Manager (or something like that, can't remember the name). Chose the program you want to backup, click the "save" button (or similarly named). Now you can use the search function to look up your newly created apk (distinguish between them via date of creation). Tap and hold +send via mail or connect your phone to the PC and copy the apk on your computer.
The first step (Backup Manager) isn't always necessary.

Anon1811:-
My friend, u r missing my point,. please correct me if i m wrong, but apk files are for android os, just like the cab files in wm6.x, and i am referring about wm6.x & wp7,
secondly most of the android applications are web based and advertizement sponcered so u need a working data connection to use most of them (i m not saying all of them). & that brings u back to working internet data, and if u are in a remote location where u dont have network then u hav only limited functionality& cant use most of apps, so the device is more like a flash light or a paper waight,
finally about customization, i am not saying backup restoration, i am saying a fresh installation with what ever apps u want to use again and leave the ones u dont wish to,
and lastly u are saying to connect to PC/Laptop, so again u must carry ur laptop with you so u back to the dependence on PC & data connectivity
i think u havent explored windows mobile for long so u are underestimating its potential compared to android
Hello.
I'm about to buy a USA T-Mobile HTC HD2 Leo - the lad port an Android 2.3 rom and he says, runs like a charm.
But, I wonna have both OS, WinMo 6.5 with TouchFlo3D & Android 2.3.
Is it possible (I think yes, I saw some videos in YouTube)...
Is there (here) any rom with both these OS together?
Kind regards,
Rom

Can you point me something?
The EnergyRom series has an Android boot option built into it. There are a MYRIAD of Android SD ROMS out there you can put on your storage. Currently I have Energy Sencity and Android Sprint EVO camped out on my Storage. They play together quite nicely.
Try RunDroid. It supports any number of ROMs running on your SD card.

Actually, this is the wrong forum for your "ad" -- he is not looking for WP7 as a base, and it will only dual-boot, using a theme that was copied from mskip.
RunDroid will allow him to run WM6.5x and multiple versions of any Android SD ROM, not limited to dual-booting.

In addition to RunDroid, you can also try MSkip's HD2 Android SD Loader...
Both are very good for your needs, the main difference being that RunDroid enables you to run WM6.5.x on your device, and as many SD Android ROMs you can fit on your SD card.

My phone arrives in a couple of days (used - runs an Android rom), so I wonna use Android from the SD card but I want also the WM6.5 aswell - dual booting.
Thxs. I'll check EVERYTHING, as soon as my phone arrives.
Got it! The phone arrived!
I'm charging it and I'll try to find a way to have, both WinMo6.5 & Androind from SD card.
Okay... "Jobe Done". I removed the Android rom and I flashed a great WM6.5 rom (Omega - Alexander).
Now, if I wonna have an Android (in microSD card) and using it via Dual Boot prompt, how can I do it? And can I do it with ANY Android rom?
