1) how do i install ROM (themes) on my Touch Dual (20 key)? i see a one on here that i want to install but i have no clue how.
2) where would i find drivers to get my PC to pick up my phone, I don't have a working CD-Rom on my work computer and would like my PC to pick up my phone.
Sorry for being a complete n3wb but i just pick this phone up, and after being in the RIM world for four years i'm a winmo idiot.....
1) If you only need a theme don't flash. But new ROMs will provide you so many good thing that you should give them a try. Read the sticky about how to flash hardSPL then you'll be able to change ROM as you want.
2) If you're on XP install ActiveSync 4.5 or more. On Vista, I think Windows Mobile Device Center is installed by default, if not install it
PS : you're not an idiot, asking questions is the purpose of the forum

Okay lets say i want This ROM on my phone how do i go about doing it.
I looked at the sticky's titles and didn't see anything remotely close to a subject line comparing to what i was looking for.
For Android it's different : format a SD card to FAT32, then extract the ZIP content to its root, then launch haret.exe and wait for Android to launch.
Be carefull, since it's not a cold boot, it's very slow

You are my hero for the week..... now that i have the Hero OS on my Dual Touch do i use Android Applications or PockectPC applications?
AND
tHE HTC Hero is not picking up my SIM card and will not give me service.... but when the phone is WinMo "mode" it works perfectly....
Hi allll...
ps : form the start to say i am not on drugs!! just come on!!!
all this info and all this reading and i am a IT guy and still don't get it at all!!
It is strange here we have 100 000 geeks, freaks and ...geek ,but no one knows how to explain in a cohesive way some presume u know it all ond the rest presume you should Google it..., why not make THE BEST EXPLAINED Thread from beggining to end whithout loosing sight what do we want to explain...
1) i am a newbie , which is why most of new people join the forum to find answers .
2) i want to switch my HD2 HTC from windows to android....
3) i have found 3000 you tube videos with retard that know only to click here and click there.. that is all fine if all goes well but if it doe sent(in my case it didn't)
i need to understand what all is happening under the hood to know what to fix...
s0... my questions are..simple and i hope someone ...can give all the answers and i will post it on my web page with pics to be one in all a good guide...
where to start...........
you need to have radio, wtf? you need to have "custom recovery installed"?
flash it from windows?(how do i flash it from windows if it is not going in to windows any more!!) ; NBH filess!!???CustomRUU (good for Radio and Splash) ?? what are you talking about!!!
i don't want to look any more for these terms... i want some who is a helpful person with sufficient knowledge and is a reasonable person to understand how frustrating this all is to a newbie to explain firs simple and then more details is it possible?
Android Flashing Guide ??
so explain like : when you get you phone it has windows in it's ROM and you have an SD card holding whatever...
and it is booting (starting the OS) from the ROM (it is usually this and this file)
for you to flash it you need to copy a file (is it leoimg.nbh ?) no idea...
to the ROM using a utility...
when you put that.... bla bla.... come on people!!!
What is radio what does it do? what is nbh file? where do i put and how ROM of my choice choice.
in my case i did the following :
Prerequisites
* HSPL3 ~ SPL-2.08.HSPL done ok....
* DFT MAGLDR Bootloader (DFT_LEO_MAGLDR111.rar ok so what it reboots and white screen?)
after that i did ..
* Radio that support 576 RAM i have some radio but i don't get it what is radio what are the differences of the version and wtf ram? (is it dependent on the SN , Model no or what) will t install even if it is not compatible with my hd2?
i did (Radio_Leo_2.15.50.14.rar)
so now i can get the boot loader menu but if you go to menu no 4 (usb)
DFT_Android (DAF.exe) does not recognize the usb so... am i stuck?
i notices in DFT_Android there are 2 files (system.img 255mb and boot.img ) i guess daf.exe does something with theem boot is copied to the boot partition? system image is copied to the ROM? can i somehow do that direly from the sd card?
what can i do now?
the only access i am getting is i guess provided to me by installing (HSPL3 ~ SPL-2.08.HSPL) that boot menu...
similarity and difference between
MAGLDR 111 is done very quikly (1sec) (both have a nbh file (ver. 111 is .5mb)
and
Radio_Leo_2.15.50.14.rar (nbh is 25 mb)
what is the... i don't get it..nothing
You will never flash android to wm and otherwise if you not kernel developer of HTC (as ex.).
Everything what you find and what you seen on youtube is Android runned from windows kernel, from SD card probably.
Natively is never happends.
Same **** you can find abou HD2 running WP7 instead wm6.5. Its also emulation!
To the OP. Have you looked in the HD2 specific forum? I'm sure you'll find all you need to know in there.
I know it's difficult trying to pice together all the disparate information that's out there but the best way to learn is to research, and then research some more

Absolute rubbish. Please refrain from posting if you don't know what you're talking about. Both Android and WP7 can replace WM6.5 on the phone, and ARE NOT emulated. Even with Android running from the SD card it IS NOT emulated!!!

^^This!!!
The best way to learn is.... to learn! If you're spoon-fed all the answers then you'll just never stop asking. Just take your time reading, and don't rush into flashing anything until you're comfortable with what you're doing.
Well thanks to all (especial not heineken78 i hope you are not 33yrs and screwing people around here ) it is done but my questiions stand... i did it but like most people i dont quite get exactly.. what the hell did i do..
i did a lot of research come on guys i do you exepct me to write such a big thread whithout trying my best to figure it out myself?
im not trying to get spoon feb but come on...
all the instructions are like do this and that.. or radio is for buttons and .... but come on... i relay started this thread to point out that there is not one goood all in one explanation that will explain all aspects... and for any one to gather all this info and put everythin in cronolgical order that makes sense.. he would allready have to know a lot (or have some expirience with this) so i think it is imposible for a newbie to grasp all this from just looking at threads...so many of them and every thread going in some other direction
in any case thanke you all.
Hello.
I'm about to buy a USA T-Mobile HTC HD2 Leo - the lad port an Android 2.3 rom and he says, runs like a charm.
But, I wonna have both OS, WinMo 6.5 with TouchFlo3D & Android 2.3.
Is it possible (I think yes, I saw some videos in YouTube)...
Is there (here) any rom with both these OS together?
Kind regards,
Rom
only by running android from the sd card. Currently there is no way to put winmo and something else both on the internal nand.

Don't care having them both in internal mem, mate.
What you wrote is fine by me.
Any rom with both them on board (Android on SD card) and boot-prompt screen when you're starting the HD2?
sorry, not something i can help with, never run AD from sd card.
There was an app, something like "boot menu" - detects Android on SD on boot and asks which OS to run, but I can't find it right now...

Τοο bad! That probably is what I want.
Anyways... Any decent TouchFlo3D rom for T-Mobile HD2, here?
Can you point me something?
The EnergyRom series has an Android boot option built into it. There are a MYRIAD of Android SD ROMS out there you can put on your storage. Currently I have Energy Sencity and Android Sprint EVO camped out on my Storage. They play together quite nicely.
Try RunDroid. It supports any number of ROMs running on your SD card.

Actually, this is the wrong forum for your "ad" -- he is not looking for WP7 as a base, and it will only dual-boot, using a theme that was copied from mskip.
RunDroid will allow him to run WM6.5x and multiple versions of any Android SD ROM, not limited to dual-booting.

In addition to RunDroid, you can also try MSkip's HD2 Android SD Loader...
Both are very good for your needs, the main difference being that RunDroid enables you to run WM6.5.x on your device, and as many SD Android ROMs you can fit on your SD card.

Τhxs, mates.
My phone arrives in a couple of days (used - runs an Android rom), so I wonna use Android from the SD card but I want also the WM6.5 aswell - dual booting.
Thxs. I'll check EVERYTHING, as soon as my phone arrives.
Got it! The phone arrived!
I'm charging it and I'll try to find a way to have, both WinMo6.5 & Androind from SD card.
Okay... "Jobe Done". I removed the Android rom and I flashed a great WM6.5 rom (Omega - Alexander).
Now, if I wonna have an Android (in microSD card) and using it via Dual Boot prompt, how can I do it? And can I do it with ANY Android rom?
Hi there. Newbie HD2 user myself.
I'm interesting too, about these the thread says.
@lupus:
Did you found anything about that, yet?

Hi guys, I'm new on XDA and a new HTC HD2 user.
I got my HTC HD2 two days ago and first of all I must say I have no experience in installing and flashing yet.
I have Windows 6.5 on it. It seems I have my HTC with EnergyROM installed.
In my tools folder I have a Launch Android app. My SD card is empty (just bought it).
I want to have both WinMo 6.5 and Android 2.3.* installed at the same time and choose being able to choose which one to run (the android should be installed on the sd card) . Can someone point me towards the right direction on how to do this?
What are the risks of doing this?
ps1. I'd like to use the Launch Android app provided with EnergyROM to do this if possible.
ps2. I know it might have been asked already, but I feel much safer if the answer is given to me.
Have a look here.
Find an android build you would like to use.
Follow the instructions in the thread.
The Launch Android app on the energy rom is basically just a shortcut to allow you to launch android with one click.
There are two files you need to run in order to boot Android and this app does that for you.
This will make sense after some time reading through the forum I linked you to above.
Dont worry too much as running an SD card build cant damage your phone in any way. You will always have WinMo there as a backup.
Hope that helps.

That's exactly what I wanted to know! Thank you very much!
Do you have any advice? Which build is smoother and faster from your experience?
Its been a long time since I used an SD version of android.
A lot of it is personal taste.
The good thing about the SD versions is that you can just swap between the by copying different folders from your pc to your sd card. All your settings will still be there intact.
In fact you can keep multiple builds on your card and just rename the folders.
"Android"
"Android1"
etc... The folder titled "Android" is the one that will boot if your using an app to launch it so just rename them as needed.
As for suggestions, I dont like HTC Sense for Android so I always used the CyanogenMod or AOSP Roms. Try a sense ROM and a standard android to see what you prefer.
AmericanDroid is a good one. (No HTC Sense)
@conantroutman,
does running android from sdcard drain the battery faster and does android run slow if ran from sdcard ?... reason am asking because I intend to use android only from sdcard and just retain Win6.5 as primary OS.
EDIT: btw which one do u suggest froyo or gingerbread ?
To answer quickly.
Yes and yes.
However, its worth it to have 2 os's
If you spend some time setting up android you can get good battery life and a good build will only be a little slower than normal.
I'd recommend GB but try both and see what suits you best.

I think you have a nand rom if so tr doing a clean install.
1. Flash a stock WM6.5 rom
2. Flash magldr (which i think u have) or BlackCLK (I personally prefer this for android on NAND and if not dualbooting)
3. Find a cool rom in the NAND section, Flash it and enjoy.
Let me know if you need more info.

THanks for your very helpful reply sorry for being noob what is stock WM6.5? magldr or BlackCLK? cool rom? I think you have a nand rom if so tr doing a clean install? what is TR? help me pls i need a step by step guide? i really appreciate your reply this means to me thanks.
Before you start READ THIS. The default os the HD2 comes with is known as Windows mobile 6.5. The developers at XDA have managed to make android work on this device using special secondary bootloaders which need to be flashed(installed) on the HD2.
There are two of them, one is MAGLDR made by cotulla which is the one you have i think (the numbers with options when it starts) the other is CLK which is open source. These bootloaders allow you to boot an Android rom (the os).
Before we start download and install Windows mobile device center on your PC. Once done follow the steps.
Step1 - WINDOWS MOBILE
a. First we are going to put the HD2's default os WM6.5 (THIS WILL ERASE EVERYTHING) Download this
b. Turn off your phone, hold the volume down and power button until it shows a screen with three colors (Bootloader).
c. Connect your phone to the PC (Where it says SERIAL on your phone it should change to USB) and run the file you downloaded in "a" and follow the instructions it says.
d. The phone will reboot after the process and boot the os.
Step 2 - secondary Bootloaders
Just to be sure before you start this go in to the tricolored screen It should say 2.08HSPL somewhere if it doesn't DO NOT continue. If it does continue on.
This where you have 2 options one is MAGLDR and the other is CLK (I prefer BlackCLK since you can easily congfiure it to modify the sizes of system and data without a PC). If you'd like magldr try this video it should help
BlackCLK - Download
a. Format an SD card and copy the LEOIMG.nbh from the zip to SD.
b. Put it in the HD2 and boot into the tri colored screen.
c. It should say something to flash it, follow what it says.
d. Once done reboot. it'll say something cannot be found and go to a menu. if your reach it YAY. Volume keys to move and green key to select
Since you have t-mobile you have enough storage space unlike european hd2
so we'll skip dataonEXT (basically moves data to a secondary partition on your sd) if you want it let me know.
INSTALLING android
a. Find a nice rom (os) in the android nand section since you were on 2.3 you can continue with it or try 4.2 (jellybean) rom Good fast roms are pixelfreaks, nexushd2(from tytung) or most of the older 2.3 roms.
b.1 Once you find one you like download it and copy it (the .zip file) to your sd and put it in your hd2.
b.2. Each rom has size requirements for system and cache (it says it on the thread for the rom).
c. GO to settings ---> resize partition set system and cache according to required by the rom save/apply it. go back format nand. then reboot
c. go to recovery, once loaded click install and choose your rom and follow the instructions it says.
d. reboot and you should be good to go.

If you do not have HSPL2.08 (most likely you'll have it since you already had MAGLDR) you should Flash HSPL 2.08
Well not quite sure which rom is the best but, i have tried Pixel freaks AOKP and Slim ROM, they both are 4.2.2 and were pretty good but you'll have to find one which suits you.

so should i start now the process that you told me?

The READ THIS part was for Basic Info.
Yeah your HSPL stuff seems fine
And yes it will remove MAGLDR and in the end youll eventually be using clk (latest one which i put the link for is CLK 1.5.x.) I dont think it'll matter that much since you aren't dual booting (WP7 and android) and have android on NAND(The phone itself). If you want to use MAGLDR over CLK follow the video and Not the CLK part
should i start now?
so should i start now the process that you told me?
i read the some info in clk does it auto configure by default?
"Changed some options under SETTINGS.
Added option to use inbuilt off-mode charging under SETTINGS/SET DEFAULT OFF-MODE CHARGING. From that menu you can select it (option USE INBUILT OFF-MODE CHARGING) and try it out.
If using inbuilt off-mode charging the device wakes up if you press POWER [button].
This is an experimental feature! Only tested with original battery and charger.
High Voltage (as measurement) is set to 4.2 V. Use at your own risk! Otherwise stick to the default way of charging (option USE RECOVERY'S OFF-MODE CHARGING).
Usb detection function changed (option under SETTINGS/ENABLE USB DETECTION). "USB" mark at the bottom of the screen if device connected to pc is replaced by turning led on/off if connected/disconnected.
Added some code as an experiment for a potential off-mode alarm application.
More info in this thread.
Warning : I didn't know java or how to use eclipse and make an android app. Seriously, I still don't. But after some days I managed to write this application mostly because I wanted to know if this idea was possible. So consider it as an example. Any criticism accepted. I just hope that someone may find it useful and make the best out of it."
i dont want to take the risk can you help me configure it to "ALL" default? i know you 're the one who can help me.
<in your previous post what do you mean by this?>
and also d. Once done reboot. it'll say something cannot be found and go to a menu. "if your reach it YAY". Volume keys to move and green key to select? (if i reach it'll say something cannot be found and go to menu? it means i did something bad? or its normal to reach on that scenario?)

INSTALLING android
a. Find a nice rom (os) in the android nand section since you were on 2.3 you can continue with it or try 4.2 (jellybean) rom Good fast roms are pixelfreaks, nexushd2(from tytung) or most of the older 2.3 roms.
b.1 Once you find one you like download it and copy it (the .zip file) to your sd and put it in your hd2.
b.2. Each rom has size requirements for system and cache (it says it on the thread for the rom).
c. GO to settings ---> resize partition set system and cache according to required by the rom save/apply it. go back format nand. then reboot
c. go to recovery, once loaded click install and choose your rom and follow the instructions it says.
d. reboot and you should be good to go.

i just want to ask which folder should i put the LEOIMG.nbh?
what format of sd card? fat32?
what version of clk that i shall download? stable, legacy or experimental?
which one should i download?
Quote:
cLK (source code)
Experimental
Stable
Legacy
Quote:
ppp wrappers (source code)
0.8b4
0.8b5
where do i download the new clk version?
thanks man
The default CLK settings are fine as they are, the only things you will need to change will be the the partition sizes (system and cache depending on the rom).
Put LEOIMG.nbh on the root not in any folders
Sdcard should be formatted FAT32
CLK Experimental (Although its pretty stable). The latest version is the one i have put the BlackCLK download link for.

you mean just copy the LEOIMG.nbh in sd ok, just in the root of the sd what formating tools?
why do i need to change the partition size i read in forum the minimum is 220mb? is ok?
thank you bro
Just regular format the sd through windows fat32.
The Partition size thing is for the PHONE not the SD. Each rom requires different SYSTEM sizes, like for example even though the minimum is 220mb you might want to add more in case you plan on adding stuff to system like GAPPS (Google apps) or any mods.
The reason for this is because even though your phone has 1gb Storage internal you will need to tell it how much each part of it should be used by system, cache (some is used by the recovery) and the remaining will be DATA( where your installed apps go).
When you first put CLK it will have some other system size (150mb i think) set so you'll need to change it.
Sorry forgot this part in the main guide. But if you want to increase you storage you will need to partition your sd card in the recovery before you flash your rom. First partiton -Fat32 and second as partition as EXT4, the size of your EXT4 will be added to your phone and will be counted as internal storage and then while flashing the rom choose with DataonExt. If you dont really care about this just ignore this.
P.S. Ohh in the rom installation IF it asks for PPP or RMNET choose PPP, RMNET is only for MAGLDR.

oh ok thanks for this wonderful info.
you mean it is rooted automatically?
is it ok if im only using 2gb sd?
and what if i want to repartition the sd card anytime?
All hd2 roms are rooted.
2GB for what, DataonExt?(for data one ext to work youll need to have a second ext partition)
well its best to do it before installation and choose that option while installing the rom, if not you can do it after but it sometimes doesnt work with some roms. You can partition the sdcard later ( so with 2 gb youll want to make 1 gb ext and the remaining 1Gb will be your ext or whaterver is left), but then youl have to flash a dataonext zip (the v2).
But its best to do this before hand althought the best option for tmobile hd2's is just nand (without dataonext,, data onext is usually for EU hd2's since they have smaller storages.), also to use dataonext it needs a fast sdcard otherwise it can slightly slow down the rom(cause the apps will be running of the sd).

my phone has only 576mb (t-mobile) do i have to partition my phone also?
sd card 2 gb.
anyway if i use the partition right after i install the rom the 1 gb isa fat32 and the other 1 gb for ext? so my question is the rom will create the ext system file? because windows doesnt have ext.
so do i have to use this partition thing? its kinda complicated like y ou said im using t-mobile can i skip this partition? or it is necessary to install a rom?
additional info for my phone: sim locked, not yet unlock
can you also help me to sim unlock?
thanks man! God bless!
576mb is RAM which both T-mboile and EU hd2's have, the only difference is T-mobile has 1GB ROM/NAND (the storage) while EU has 512mb.
Just wondering you phone does say T-mobile and has a green call key and red end key right???
First off the phone partition thing is different compared to sd. For the phone look at the system size and cache size required for the rom and resize those in CLK.
Second you can skip the SD partitioning its not a highly required especially for t-mobile I just added that as an extra.
Third Try experimenting you'll never get anywhere if you dont try .
And i have no idea about simlock try googling it

my phone it has a green call button to the left and red button to the right but when you turn on the HTC the loading screens are color pink stick together, then it goes to the something says 123456 go go go, then go to HTC queitly brilliant, htc green logo, (in my case it hangs in green logo) lets continue color pink Beats logo, then htc green logo then the regular home screen.
my phone has a t-mobile in front of the face plate near the small speaker when you make a call.
can i skip the dataonext? its kinda complicated
and one more thing after i install the stock rom will the HSPL 2.08 will be deleted?
Thank you very much! God bless!
ps. my internal storage is 500+ only not 1 gb, i dont know if its just locked but im pretty sure my internal memory 569 to be exact i dont know why.
Thanks. God bless!
