I have been trying to get the HTC_IME keyboard installed but it is not working for me. I have tried with ADB and root explorer and with terminal emulator. With any of these, it does not show up as an option to choose in Nook Color Tools. If I try to install the APK I get "Parse Error There is a problem parsing the package"
I have tried several different apk files, one from my HTC EVO, and a few from XDA downloads.
None of the Froyo HTC_IME.apk files show up at all in the keyboard list.
I can get one of the HTC_IME.apk files to show up in the list and it must be from a previous version of Android. When I chose it, however, no keyboard appears.
I have also tried various HTC_IME.apk files with an included Clicker.apk for calibration and still nothing.
Anybody have any success with the HTC_IME keyboard?
+1
I played with it a little, too, but I didn't have any luck. I don't remember what I tried, but it involved NookColor Tools to switch and I ended up settling for the Gingerbread keyboard until someone figures this out.
There's an Eclair version and a Froyo version, and I think we need to use the Eclair verison.
I want to install the international keyboard as a default like in that rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1504633... i extrated from the rom and try to install, but don't work it... and i tray to install by copy in the /system/app folder and change the permission, but that works neither
This may be a stupid question but, when you put the apk file in system/apps/ and set the permissions, did you reboot afterwards?
yes i restard the phone, and nothig... y cant select for a input metod by long press on the layout and select in the "input metod" menu

My HTC_IME keyboard touch input disappeared after my first reboot of achieving ICS RUU. I used root explorer navigated to system/app/ and i can see it there. However I wasn't about to install it after mounting and pressing the "install" option.
It says "Application not installed"
Anyone have the stock HTC_IME apk I can get from? Im not sure what version it is though.
I have the latest Euphoria (RC2.1) on my vibrant. I want to install the old samsung keyboard. I found the apk (axt9IME.apk) however trying to install it using a file explorer I get the "application not installed" message.
I want to use this particular keyboard as I can swipe the space key to switch languages quickly. I tend to type in both English and Arabic in the same sentence a lot.
Also, I would like to install the Experia keyboard. This is the only keyboard I like with a spell tip for the Arabic language. This is also important for me.
I don't know if I have the proper file, but I tried to install "textinput-tng.apk" and got the same problem as above.
Does anyone know what the proper way to install these keyboards is? Doc Master ICS rom has the samsung keyboard and I really miss it! However, it seems too buggy for me.

Also I forgot to add for the word prediction to work, is there any associated file/apk to transfer? I also have the Experia Arc and have access to all the files on it of course.
I just wanted to update that I found a flashable version of the stock Samsung keyboard with the Arabic language files. Flashing this .zip file worked.
However, that still doesn't answer the question of why didn't the .apk install, even after moving to /system/app and changing the permissions.
I need to learn this if I am to install the Sony keyboard, unless I can find a flashable version with the Arabic files (which I haven't so far)

I'd try copying either the Google keyboard's or the KII keyboard's (whichever one you want) .apk from /data/app to your sdcard, renaming it to LatinIME.apk, copying it to /system/app, and then immediately rebooting.

Alright, my very last recommendation to you is this. If this doesn't work, I'm sunk, and you're sunk.
1. Download the .zip attached.
2. Open it, but don't extract it. Navigate to the /system/app directory inside of the .zip.
3. Take the KII Keyboard .apk that you renamed to LatinIME.apk and put it right into the directory you just had open in step 2.
4. Close out of the .zip.
5. In whichever way you prefer (ADB, FTP, USB), copy the kbd_fixer.zip that you just modified onto the root of your device's external SD card.
6. With the SD card plugged in, boot your device into recovery mode, preferable ClockworkMod recovery.
7. In CWM, click on first "Install zip from sdcard", then "Choose zip from sdcard", then "kbd_fixer.zip", and lastly "Yes".
8. Let the script run.
9. After that, click "Reboot system now".
10. And you should be 100% good to go!
If those steps don't work for you, I'm out of ideas.
Hope this helps! :good:
