Hello im running trigger, and i have a theme for it, but its a .zip file and metamorph no longer supports those, everytime i try to unzip it it gives me an error message and the converter doesn't convert .zips, i tried to figure it out by searching, but its impossible im really stressing out, i can't update from clockwork either..someone please explain to me how to install these .zips on metamorph since there are no other ones on here
lets get a little more info here, what theme is it? (link would be great), what version of trigger are you running? Also sometimes with metamorphs you have to apply twice for it to work.
trigger 2.3.5 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1156123&highlight=trigger
and this theme - Vibrant HD v1.6 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1058508
but ive tried multiple themes on metamorph and i can never get any of them to extract it just says control file missing blah blah blah
Also every time i try to install a theme through clock work recovery it fails and i get stuck on the vibrant screen and have to use odin to go back to stock, is there a problem with ROM manager? or am i just an idiot? lol
The theme you are trying to use is a froyo 2.2 theme. I don't think this will work on trigger 2.3.5. You need to use trigger 3.2 final I believe.

^This^ If you want to use that theme use this version of trigger. If you want to keep your current version of trigger and theme it then search "CM7 themes" in the market and use the "theme chooser" app included with trigger 2.3.5

You can root with one click lag fix but don't apply anything else from oclf just root with it it's the first box you'll see when you open the app Flash it up but make sure you don't have a lag fix running or you'll brick your phone
Constantly Drinking
And most roms have instructions posted in the op follow the instructions and you'll be fine
Constantly Drinking
OCLF off of Marketplace
Select Root phone, follow instructions.
Install Rom Manager (Again Marketplace) open Rom manager, select the first option at the top "Flash clockwork recovery" this will allow you to make backups of your Rom in case of soft bricks, or bad installs.
give OCLF superuser access(will popup automatically when you select root)
I recommend using the Lagfix V2 option, select A size between 1-2GB (1024-2048MB)
I have done this with the JI6 OTA and both min and my Gf's phones.
I also recommend IF you plan on installing roms you have samsung drivers AND Odin installed on your PC with Ready access when you attempt any modification
under the development section of the forum is a post the has the Stock jfd and JI6 roms for our phones book mark it
if you plan on flashing froyo, i recommend Obsidian V3, or Onyx R3.1 (personal preference)

oh yes and if your a newbie at all of this please please please for the love of all that is sacred, do not play with Voodoo, or installing Custom kernels
Read read Read. then play with those
Rom installs are really solid and easy to do without any for knowledge
there should be an installation bible somewhere i'll find it and post link

Obsidian uses Samsung Touchwiz as standard Launcher
Onyx uses Launcher Pro and has Touchwiz Removed from phone, other then that the roms are fairly similar in quality and stability
I have a paid version of Launcher pro so I prefer Onyx myself. if you like the default samsung launcher then go Obsidian.
screenshots are a slightly modified Onyx R3.1 to my liking. but you get a decent idea on what it looks like. standard dark theme. Black, with a brush metal look. on most menu's including the dialer standard.
oh yes and you flash these through Clockwork recovery, install on internal SD card, open Rom Manager and select "install Rom from SD Card"
i also Recommend you install titanium backup Free version from market.
open it allow superuser access
select "problems" on first boot to force install Busy box.
press menu button --> Batch --- > scroll down to Backup all user Apps + data
after that flash prefered ROM

I cant get these to work on Khal's V4 Galaxy....
Any ideas why?
I was able to use ZipThemer to add the OrangeOctane Morphs & it worked quite well.

what version are you running?
Think you could nandroid yours so i could give it a try?
Right now I'm running Kahl's latest GalaxyXTv4 ROM. These are the updates I made to get everything themed & should be applied in order. I think they'll only work on this ROM as I tried using the one I built while Running Dexter's 1.3 & they just boot looped.
1. DarkFroyo
2. WhiteText
3. OrangeOctane
I tried building it as one update but couldn't get it to work
Copy to OpenRecovery/updates & apply, wipe dalvik-cache & cache partitions reboot. If this doesn't work I'll try the nandroid when I get home tonight.
Did you all applied the metamorphframework- update from khalpower?
The extreme Dialers morphs worked for me- for example...
And second: maybe some of them don't work because it is said there that this morph are actually made for cynanogenMod?

That's part of the beauty of the ZipThemer method, if files (e.g. SystemUI.apk) aren't there on your device when it builds the update.zip it skips those files.
Thanx guys.... 3rd the morphs worked.... sort of got a lot of errors.... i think my SDcard is baked.
Im getting a new one soon so il try again later on....
Yeap was the SDcard for some reason....
reformatted and then re-partitioned and all good thanks for the help every one much much appreciated
hi all,
i installed cyanogenmod 7 and this theme http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=896943
then device booted it can not open my phone please help me what can i do ?
At the top of the screen it says:
~ [UPDATED!] Xtreme X10 Mini/Pro theme! ~
(And 2.1 [For Build 2.0.A.0.504 without zip file and 2.0.2.A.0.24 with the zip file])
The writing in blue is telling you which firmware the theme is compatible with. In order for you to have installed CM7 you would have build 2.1.1.A.0.6 loaded on your device. the theme you tried installing isn't compatible with you 2.1 firmware and neither is it with CM7.
To fix this, do a SEUS repair and reinstall CM7 and search the market for CM7 themes (search "CM7") and in future read the firmware requirements before installing anything. In the case of installing CM7 themes, if it doesn't say "CM7 theme" DON'T INSTALL!!!
Good luck

Thats it!!!!!!!!!. You will get a warning and you can say continue anyway. I tried almost 20 themes and all worked. And good thing about CM7 is, you will have all the themes installed and you can change any time you want by just selecting a theme and restarting. Not like CM6 wherein you need to flash the theme everytime. This is one of the thing I liked most about CM7.
Also if you want to change only the font, download fontchanger from market (free app), download any font you like (.ttf file) and copy under .fontchanger folder in sdcard, open fontchanger application, select the font and apply it. You need to restart your device (sometimes twice) and thats it!!!!!!!. It is working in my device atleast (I changed almost 15 to 20 times both the themes and font without any problem) and I am really enjoying this ROM. SO much flexibility.
^a little more explanation from raj_k_r on installing themes on CM7
ops to late...
howto take away posts?

What you must do is switch the phone off, hold in the back button and insert the USB when SEUS is searching for the phone. If its still looping, insert the USB, hold down the power, home (the middle button) and back button together until the phone resets (it with vibrate) then ONLY RELEASE THE POWER AND HOME BUTTON and KEEP the back button pressed until SEUS tells you to release it the it should work.
thanks christophermaisch i tried it and flashing with seus manager thanks again
I've downloaded and applied a few themes from this thread (applied via cm7 Theme Chooser), but for some reason the themes only change the phone's appearance partially. In the screenshots for example, you've got a new lockscreen, the market is different and the main dock is a different colour. But when I apply these themes, none of those change, nor do I know how to change them. No option to do so in the settings of ADW nor CM7 menu...
Am I doing something wrong?

you should look thru the post the lock screen changes are usually zip files and wont work cause they are mdpi and i think we are hdpi you can reaserch it im pretty sure but i could be wrong thats also why the rest of the themes dont work if you want to ask you should ask the thread you pulled the themes from
Try to make a reboot after aplying a theme. Mine are all working great.

No, I think our device is mdpi, because hdpi themes don't work. I also tried to reboot but it didn't help... I dunno...
Eh...
- first of all, reboot is required after changing themes, unless you use Notification Restart app
- second, this device is MDPI obviously, Google it
- additional mods, such as the lockscreen, do require patching of framework via MetaMorph or ZipThemer. This can only be done on deodexed ROMs. mik's ROM is not deodexed by default, you need to deodex and reflash it yourself.

1. I use notification restart app.
2. Isn't that what I just said?
2. I didn't know that, but I have already used MetaMorph to change the lockscreen.

Well, that obviously will not work correctly, as explained. Best case it will bail out, worst case it will mess up the files.
P.S. I sincerely do NOT advise to use the MetaMorph app, since it does not backup anything, and the way it patches and "reboots" the device is just a nice WTF. ZipThemer is way safer and way more controllable.

Well as I understand it only messes with the lockscreen files, so even if someone manages to mess everything up with it, it's easy to fix.
But thanks, I'll try ZipThemer instead

It can mess up anything from framework-res.apk to SystemUI.apk to Phone.apk to overwriting your system fonts (big thumbs down to Android font "management") and even more - all depending on the scope of customization done in the mod.
ZipThemer:
1/ Shows you exactly which files will be modified.
2/ Makes a flashable backup of them.
3/ Makes a flashable ZIP for the mod.
4/ Does not half-reboot your device, making you wonder WTH is going on.
I was trying to apply a downloaded theme to my Tab using ROM Toolbox the other day, but when I tried to apply the theme, I got an error message that said something like "theme did not compile correctly, contact the author". So, I applied the system theme, rebooted, then applied new theme again and I got the same error.
Is it possible to apply themes using ROM Toolbox? Or do I have to go about it another way?
I am running pershoot's CM10 build.
