How to go back to froyo from Trigger [2.3.5] - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I there is easy way to go back to froyo based rom from Trigger [2.3.5].
I searched form but all are suggesting Odin.
Can I do that without Odin.
On PC Samsung drivers never worked. SO I can't use Odin.
Please suggest some alternate way around.

Sorry man but Odin is the only way. Make sure you check repartition when you flash back to JDF also. As far as the drivers go, they automatically downloaded for me when I plugged my phone on to my laptop while in download mode. Try that and see if it works for you. Good luck.

thanks will try if driver get automatically downloaded in download mode

If you couldn't get download mode to work/flash, why'd you install a CM7 based rom when it clearly states you need it to go back?

CM& based ROMs the samsung drivers wont work. You need to install the Nexus S drivers (located in the Android sdk)

When I plugged in my phone to the USB the Nexus S drivers installed automatically for me. I didn't have to do it through Android SDK.

True but you had to install the android sdk, so at a minimum he should install the current android sdk.

Can't get into download mode on my froyo vibrant!

Ok, I know there are countless topics about this but non of them are working for me. Ok so trying to get into download mode so I can use Odin to put the official froyo leaked Rom on my Vibrant. Using Unofficial T-Mobile Froyo Rom. It came rooted and busybox installed already along with startup Samsung S logo gone. Android logo instead. I want to put on the plain Jane Leaked Froyo Rom.so I need to get into the Download Mode to use Odin to install the update.but I can't get into Download Mode at all. Tried everything.pulling the battery holding up and down volume keys.plugging the USB cable in.just goes to the dam battery charging menu. Tried like 10 different way of that.and still no luck.even watched YouTube videos on how to do it.but still no luck. WTF.why wont it go into download mode. Wish there was a stock froyo zip file so I could just flash it using Rom Manager.but all the ones I found have been changed in some way or another. Please help me out here.thanks a million!

It means you don't need to be screwing with your phone.
It's a command that will reboot your phone into download mode. It works ever time. You just have to make sure you have the android SDK installed.
Will Odin work if I use Rom manager to get into recovery mode? Thanks

nope. That's recovery mode, odin uses download mode.
Im having the same issue as this gentleman I believe. I can get it into recovery mode and download mode through ADB only but when I get it into dl mode my PC doesnt see the device anymore and Odin doesnt see it either as no port is assigned.
Is there a way to recover phone from recovery mode. Obviously i tried reinstall packages but i cant access the drives to place the upgrade.zip in there.
Dam installing SDK seems like a pain in the @ss. all that just to get into the Download mode? don't understand why it wont go into Download Mode in the first place any other way of getting into Download Mode? already got SDK installed on my Windows 7 pc. but seems like a real pain to me! thanks a million!
PS- Any zip. file version of the Stock Froyo Vibrant Rom? instead of the T959UVJK6.tar file? so I can just flash it using Rom Manager!

Yeah there's a flashable jk6 posted by sombionix
That said, I wouldn't mess with your phone unless you know how to get into download mode and use it. I messed up my first Vibrant doing that. All I had to do was read a little more.

Yea that's the same one I already have installed!
Includes:
- Root
- Busybox
- Su
- Rom Manager
Removed:
- Annoying T-Mobile Startup sound
- Annoying T-Mobile Pink Bootanimation
But Just want completely Stock Froyo

I wouldn't recommend switching to another one. The one you have already has 2e recovery. The regular one has 3e which will not let you into Clockwork
If you still want it, there's a deodexed JK6 floating around somewhere, just look in the dev forums for a couple pages for them, you'll find one.
Guess I will just keep this one until the OTA Froyo comes Out. How hard is it to go back to 2.1 stock so I can get the OTA update when it comes out? If it will even be worth all the trouble! I like this Rom I have but for some reason Launcher Pro Plus keeps Force Closing after Reboot! and unistalled and reinstalled but still happens every time. I'm SOL I guess!

I'm still on the original drivers I downloaded a year ago when I flashed my first custom rom and I also didn't go to ec09, I came straight from ukb2.1 which was ed01 or ed04...can't remember

no.

Happened to me like you. Then look for the Odin 3.14 and a kernel and pass it. keep in mind that it is a risky process. another question, you still has the rom into your sdcard? because if you do not forget to pass, because when you pass the kernel by Odin on it goes straight to CWM

ODIN does not detect phone

Hey all. Decided to go back to Froyo stock. When I try to ODIN in download mode, it doesnt detect the phone!
Code:
MacPro:~ nomadman$ heimdall detect
Failed to detect compatible download-mode device.
I'm no OS X Mountain Lion. I tried ODIN 1.7 in WinXP virtual machine and it doesnt detect it either. I know the USB cables work. I use it to transfer my backup from the vibrant to my OS X desktop. I also tried using all the USB ports on the machine. Do you think it's because the vibrant is using a jelly bean custom rom? I've been at this for 3 days without getting anywhere.
in OS X Mountain Lion and virtual XP, i installed Kies Mini and all I get is "please connect your mobile phone" in Download Modes.
HELP?
edit: resolved
Have you tried nexus S drivers? Sometimes they are needed when on a ICS or jellybean rom.

I have no come across nexus S requirements. But i'll download the driver from samsung and see if Odin and Kies detects the phone in download mode. There is no problem detecting the phone when it booted up. adb detects the phone fine.
the nexus s has the same driver for the t-mo vibrant. Samsung_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones_v1.5.14.0
I installed that in windows several times.
Have you put the phone in download mode? Odin or Heimball wont detect it otherwise. Sorry if you have but you didn't mention it. Im not familiar with mac pc so not really sure, make sure it has admin privileges also.

Yes the phone is always on download mode every time I try to Odin or Heimball. It's just OSX or winXP doesn't recognize the phone at all. I really think I'm stuck without a downgrade option.
Is it possible to flash a zip file from ICS recovery to an earlier recovery so I can flash a froyo rom? This is really irritating.. Last ditch effort, i'm installing ubuntu on VM and see if I can odin that way. If not, then OS X is the issue and I have to find a PC to odin.

No, there are no stock flashable zip files. You can't go backwards, it will soft brick your phone. I have heard a few people say they have flashed from JB to Froyo but I personally have never tested it. Supposedly you can wipe data, wipe cache and wipe dalvik cache, then format system under mounts and storage, then flash a froyo kernel and then a froyo rom but I don't recommend trying that. I would try a windows pc, sounds like its the mac having issues, not the phone.

[Q] Won't Connect to PC

I just bought a One X+ for really cheap, the only thing is it won't connect to any computer. It charges fine, and in fastboot when plugged in it says usb fastboot. But it will not show up on any pc, no matter what cord or usb port I use. I have installed the drivers, but it still doesn't even show up in Device manager. HTC said I can have it repaired because its still under warranty, but I'd rather not send it in if I can help it.
Thanks!

What OS do you have? Windows 8.1 requires some custom tinkering on your end to enable ADB. Also, I'm assuming you've already read the how-to tutorial on flashing a ROM? It actually has some step by step info on how to set up your drivers, SDK, etc. Sorry if you have read already though, just covering bases
