Download the apk, click install, then plug in your phone, and hit recovery.

Make sure you're plugging your phone into a wall charger NOT USB to a PC.

Ok sorry for the absence but homework is a @#$%&. Ok so I have system recovery installed. I turned off ish debug and plugged it into a regular charger. I then proceeded to recovery where i hit install zip from sd then installed navens init hack which I guess went ok dunno how to check. I rebooted twice then tried to install speedy v2 and I used root explorer to check for "zipalign" anything in /data but nothing. So obviously im being an idiot and although I tried the rehack also I can't get it to show the log. What gives here?
Oh and thank you tremendously for the time and help.

Thanks so much I was finally able to get into recovery.

Anyone with the faintist idea? bump.

Did u try installing busy box 1.18.4 I think its the one overmind reccomended although im not 100%
Do u have ANY busybox installed? U would get it or can check if u have it with jrummy busybox installer from market.
Or just try re flashing the rehack after the initial init.d hack and it is recommend to reboot twice.
Might be a better question to ask overmind or navendrob in their threads regarding the hacks.

Custom Recovery from power off

I know I should know the answer to this, but I keep ending up in the stock recovery...
I just tried to install 0vermind's 2nd init rehack, and now I'm stuck at the Dual Core boot logo screen. Is there any way to boot into the custom recovery from a powered off state so I can just reinstall the atrix rom and undo the changes?
I've tried holding vol down on start up, but that gets me to the fastboot, then stock recovery...which won't install that zip due to signature...
Take the battery out, leave it out, plug phone into wall charger.
Voila!

If u have boot strap installed it should just boot right into recovery from an off state after its plugged in.

Hmm...still sitting at the boot screen.
I can get into the factory recovery though. Will a factory reset in there just erase /data or will it overwrite /system as well?
I suspect I'm going to be stuck doing an SBF...
Unplug.
Take out battery
Put battery back in after a minute
Plug back in.
If the last thing u pressed in system recovery app was "install recovery "
Then it should come up after a minute or so...
It works this way as it hijacks charge only mode
also make sure u are plugged DIRECTLY INTO WALL SOCKET.
U don't have to press power or volume at all. It should come up automatically
If the above doesn't work are you sure you installed the DX2 bootstrap by Tenfar? Did you place in charge mode or something? How did you enter recovery to install scripts?

The above did not work. I ended up doing an SBF since I need the phone tonight and can't play around with it too long (thank you TiBu ).
The last thing I did before getting stuck at the boot screen was boot into Tenfar's recovery using the system recovery app. I installed 0ver's 2nd init rehack and couldn't boot anymore. None of the suggested methods got me past the boot screen though.

Sounds like u may have had conflicting scheduler scripts at that point I think.
,and that isn't a 2nd init rehack it is just a rehack to make normal init.d work right.
I suggest using nacendrobs final 6b version of init.d hack but do not run 98kickasskernel with it as they conflict. You really only need one init.d hack.
Also newest version of eclipse version 6remix5 comes with it preinstalled so u don't need any hacks implemented if u use it.
Also I would male sure u have isbn debugging turned on in settings under application > development as I believe that needs to be on to ensure proper recovery boot when off and plugged in...for next time

I think you're dead on about the scheduler. I was playing with 0ver's speedy script and was installing his init to get it working. I'm actually using the Atrix rom right now...need to switch over to Eclipse... Ah well, it's all fun and games if it's not a brick right?
Thanks for all the helpful tips everyone.

Yeah. Always nice to learn new things. As long as it can be fixed somehow.
BTW
The Energizer AA battery usb charger works to trigger cwr.

[Q] Cannot reboot into Recovery

I'm currently rooted and running Eclipse rom on my X2. However when trying to reboot into recovery to install a new custom rom, the phone just reboots completely. I have tried Rom Manager and bootstrap, and both just reboot the phone when choosing Reboot into recovery. I've used Rom manager before with no problems. Its on the latest version and has superuser permissions. How can I fix it?

never ever use rom manager for the x2 its not fully supported yet.
get into bootstrap click install recovery then plug your phone into the wall and then press recovery in the bootstrap...keep your phone plugged in always when using bootstrap or it will not boot into recovery hence the reason why it completely reboots
if done correctly itll boot into bootstrap recovery adn youll be able to flash

Try going to the bootstrap app and hit install and give it superuser permission if it asks. Now plug your phone charger into the wall and connect it to your phone. Hit the recovery button and it should boot into recovery. I think some scripts hijack the recovery script, and reinstalling recovery fixes it.

ok so I didnt know I had to be plugged into the wall so I tried that and still no luck. Plugged it in, opened bootstrap, hit Bootstrap Recovery, got the Success popup and superuser permission allowed, and then hit reboot. Phone just shows moto logo and then goes to droid eye and reboots. Tried it twice.
I have the droid 2 bootstrap....wrong one? Any ideas?

Yes wrong one. U need the one for ATRIX that was PORTED to work for ours
Check in one of our "how to sbf to froyo and install preroot gb" threads for system recovery apk.
Edit HERE YA GO http://www.mediafire.com/?y19y123n6tauq7s
USE THAT ONE. DELETE THE ONE U HAVE FIRST BEFORE INSTALLATION OF THIS APK.

You answered your own question with this statement! Only use the recovery that is meant for the X2. (its actually an atrix port)
Awesome. I had downloaded the port from the Atrix for the X2 but thought it was weird when it said Droid 2 when I loaded it up. Guess I originally got a bad link. Thanks for the help.

[Q] Bootstrap not working with Eclipse 1.3

So I just flashed eclipse last night and it's working perfectly fine. One problem I'm having, though, is that whenever I try to go to recovery mode (I open up the bootstrap, install recovery, and then click recovery mode), it just goes to the charge screen. I AM plugged into a wall outlet whenever I try this.
I am rooted, I do have superuser permissions on the recovery. Any ideas? Thanks

more info please
what eclipse version?
what Android version?
how did u obtain root?
are u using the bootstrapper located In settings>eclipse parts
and make sure u press install recovery before pressing recovery mode.
edit...okay I see u r on 1.3
make sure u r using the bootstrapper from eclipse parts.
if that fails to work try forgetting superuser permission and then regrant them.

yes you're correct i'm on 1.3. I'm on 2.3.4, and I used the one-click root method and have already used other root-require apps and they work fine. I am using the bootstrap located in eclipse parts. I'll try that, thanks!

also
u sure u have power actually making it to the phone?
I have had times where I didn't have charger hooked up correctly
and times where the power to the outlet I was using had been cutoff and I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't work lol
---------- Post added at 02:18 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:16 PM ----------
and if all else fails u can always try wiping data and all that jazz lol
but u would have to do it from stock recovery.
worst come to worst sbf and try again
I don't see why it wouldn't work if u are following direction and not.missing any step
not sure but I think usb debugging might need to be on. in development under application settings.
I tried forgetting su permissions but it didn't work, went to the charge screen just like every other time. I've been installing the recovery.
Hmm does it have anything to do with the bootstrap "thinking" the entire time? The circle that shows the system is working never went away, if you know what I mean. Does that make sense?
USB Debugging is checked. I just checked to enable installation of non-market apps just in case and tried again, but it went to the charge screen again...

r u following this exactly?
1. open eclipse parts
2. bootstrap recovery
3. press install recovery
4. wait for "install success"
5. plug phone into charger and charger into WALL OUTLET.(where the battery level is should change to the lightning bolt symbol)
6. press reboot recovery.
7. BSR should come up
if not u r either missing a step or something is wonky.
try data wipe maybe.
---------- Post added at 02:55 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:30 PM ----------
any luck yet?
I have had it plugged in the entire time, but I'll wait until I install the recovery next time. I'm currently not at home but I'll try it once more when i get home.

It won't uninstall for some reason. Each time I tried it said it failed.
Also, I tried waiting until I installed the recovery to plug my phone in but it also did not work. I just wiped data, I'm gonna see what that does.
Data wipe worked! Finally.
Thanks everyone.
Alright so here's what I actually think happened:
I backup all my apps+data with MyBackup Root.
When I went to restore all the apps, I included the bootstrap in those restorations.
So I think the bootstrap getting restored messed up the existing bootstrap.

I did.mention that earlier lol
((EDIT:: just realized u just got home...not trying to be snaky I am HAPPY its working for ya bro! congratulations )
and uninstall wont work since it is a system app integrated into eclipse parts.
glad its working now...
remember ...when all else fails, data wipe ...
and if data wipe fails....sbf
if sbf fails(and u have fully charged battery)....call assurion ...
those are the simple.steps to live by on X2
sbf and/or data wipe will fix almost ANY issues
just sayin
Haha you DID say it, I thanked you! Ah I'm loving Eclipse now that everything is smooth and running.

[Q] CM7DX2 Bootstrap problem

Hey quys,
Having a problem accessing bootstrap recovery to install CM7,
I'm simply stuck at the M after trying to boot into bootstrap recovery,
I've sbfed several times and tried clearing data etc but no joy,
also made sure that I used the right bootstrap as per the great guide in the ot, but that part is a bit confusing.
Anyone have any ideas?
Are you sure you are plugged into wall charger not USB? Also are you using the original bsr to flash rom, gaps, tether then let it boot up. Then once it boots up update su binary before updating apps in the market. And then install the cm7 patch bsr like a normal app.

3g issues Cm7 droid x2

I installed cm7 for my first rom ever. It was running great next to some force closes which have gone away after rewiping cache, dalvik. Now my 3g hangs a lot/drops completely. I've reset, done battery pulls,*228 several times. It was great before and I *think * it started with restoring apps from titanium.
My question is what can I do? Reflash? Etc. I'm tech literate but a noob with roms etc. Any ideas are much appreciated and a quick description of how would be great. Fwiw I tried the mashup to no avail. All I know is when first flashed it was great. Seems to be affecting battery though it's just from the phone grinding to connect to 3g. Thanks in advanced.

Did u do a RSD to 2.3.4.
Super Root
Install Recovery
Wipe The big 3
Apply zip: CM7 RC1, CM7 GAPPS, AND CM7 RERECOVERY AND REBOOT
DO NOT UPGRADE SUPERUSER OR UPDATE BIANARY ( SU GETS SUPER SKETCHY) RECOMMEND A SWAP TO "SUPERSU" FROM THE MARKET
IF YOU HAVE ALREADY UPDATE BIANARY AND SUPERUSER RECOMMEND STARTING OVER WITH RSD.
EVEN WITH UNINSTALL OF SUPER USER BIANARY STILL STICKS AFTER UPDATES :/....

I've been having 3G issues for the past few months, I had on and off really bad data speeds where I live and they think its a network issue since my 1st and 2nd replacement dx2's still have the issue. And today I found out they are getting ready to roll out 4g in the area. Makes me wonder if they might be screwing with the towers. Location: Scarborough, Maine

Use this guide to SBF BACK http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18720189
Then follow the other guides by his signature (bottom of post)
Good luck
DROID DOES, Apple did...like I forgot when
Ok so essentially I'm going back to factory then re root and install rom again?
@chaoz
Yes simply start from scratch (VIRGIN 2.3.4) no scripts... no zips... nothing changed
ROOT IT
Using the normal dx2 recovery
1.Install recovery.apk
2.Boot into recovery
3.Wipe data/cache/dalvic
4. Install 3 zips from SD, cm7 Rc1/ gapps/ rerecovery cm7
5 Reboot
As soon as your all booted
Download "supersu" from market install
Grant superuser acess to "supersu"
To make install permanent create backup of supersu and place in system/app and delete superuser and fix permissions
Sent from my MB870 using Tapatalk 2
K thanks ....that last part was worded strangely and saw nothing in the original thread ....how do I move su aground then delete it then fix permissions? Thanks in advanced
