Guys i dnt knw whether u guys experienced this problem befor! but its wieard!
unfortunately some games are lagging terribly!!! such as "Monster Madness THD" "guerrilla Bob Thd " and "dungeon defenders THD " can sombody explain why??
* guerrilla Bob Thd starts to lag when ""Post prossecing eneble" why is that??? tgra devices such as LG Optimus 2x runs smooth as butter on Each and every game that i mentioned! is it smthing wrng with my device???
Could be you have a lot of other apps running in the background sucking up your resources. The games designed for the Tegra 2 are more demanding than usual, and especially with a lot of the bloat that comes with stock you could run into some issues there when you try to run a game.
Try closing down some apps to see if that helps you at all.

If by "pure stock" you mean with the stock motorola, then you have a good bit of motoblur bloatware that is causing some/most of your lagging issues.
An easy solution is to install a ROM that has been deblured and optimized. Most of the custom ROMs you will find in the forums make big improvements over the stock motoblur gingerbread.

it will brick the phone or what?????? my friend tryed to unlock his boot loader and got Failed to boot4 error!!!! since that hw u gona do it???
If you follow directions then you wont brick your phone, but you have to read extremely carefully and only do exactly what is mentioned. But of course, as with anything, you take responsibility for all risks, if you brick your phone then only you are responsible.
The unlocking method is different for different carriers, who is your carrier?

I'm not sure about ROMs though, all the advice I can give is experiment and find one that you like.

So.. why are you running a custom ROM? Give reasons
I ran it because mainly of battery life and awesome speeds
Post yours here so maybe others will flash a custom ROM too.
You can also post what you personally do after you flashed if you'd like

To fix what Samsung failed to do since the release.
Thank you XDA
Oh yeah that's also one of my reason
Sent from the dirty little green robot.
Mainly because roms make our phones like they should have been....I mean with a computer can you not custmise stuff the way you want? Why not a android also..That and because I am kind of a geek when it comes to making my phone opped out as much as possible...
And also because it helps the following scenario...lol:
Newish to android geeky girl walks up to me and says, "Oh, I see you have a Vibrant? That phone sucks because it doesn't have basic stuff like working GPS or Froyo." then I can reply by saying, "Mine does, here let me introduce you to the world of flashing...and no that's not a euphemism."
I wanted to be rooted and for some reason the stock rom didnt way to stay rooted so, bam, nero v3. No more un-rooting problems.
Stock is gay.
Custom is good.
Some guys tune thier cars & some guys tune their electronics.
its only natural to want to get your moneys worth out of a device.
I paid full price for my Vibrant (couldn't upgrade)
Had I not figured out how to load better roms.. I prolly would have thrown it through the window of the Tmobile store, or at the samsung corporate office.
Only because it uses some tweaks for speed up and fixes those little enjoying bugs?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using Tapatalk
I run a custom rom so i can play Dungeon defenders smoothly.
I rooted because I wanted to try new apps that were only available on froyo. Other reasons were o wanted to unleash the full potential of this beast. Its much snappier with an improves battery life. I wanna say 'thank u samsung' for making me go ahead and root coz u were not willing to update ur flagship phone in a timely manner.

10% for speed
10% for battery life

110% reason to run custom
Speed. Lag fix and overclocking. I wouldn't have had a reason at all if Samsung didn't use RFS. I can honestly live without froyo, it is nice though. I probably still would have rooted anyway just because The only gizmo I haven't modded yet is my PS3. As soon as it's confirmed sony can't block psn use and there is a safe proven method to get back to stock it will be done.

just curius, what would the advantages be of a custom kernel for the atrix ?
normally i think custom roms is good if you have some flaws on the phone you want to fix (filesystem on SGS or too low internal memory on the desire) but the atrix is more or less perfect as it is so why do people complain so much about the locked bootloader ?
Get rid of blur, and anything that runs in the background you can't stop from running. Wifi hotspot without paying. Less lag. Less force closes. Those are a few possibilities.

i wonder why people complain so much about the locked bootloader then
Theres really not too much. My evo friends are always talking about how the custom kernals are more efficient but we have so much power its not an issue. They always have problems with there custom roms and kernals. Everything never works all the time.
But they could make our phone more customizable, the possibilites would be endless if we had a unlocked bootloader.

yeh i kind of think thats motos point with the locked BL basicaly there saying that there phones are good the way they are and don't need to be fuxed with.... personally i am pretty content with it as it.. just threw launcher pro on .. didnt even really freeze motoblur stuff with titanium(cuz i dont know how or what to freeze) but as for lag... never once had a problem with it.. even on the lapdock things run smooth as i could ask for.. great device... absolutely great... people can say what they will about moto... but i definitely think they stepped up there game with this device..

I think one of the main advantages is a custom recovery. This allows for the easy implementation of roms, themes, and hacks via zips. Nandroid backups is another useful feature.
With custom kernals comes overclocking, undervolting, kernal optimizations, screen fixes, and many other tweaks.
The fuss about it is this....its our bloody phone. We pay hundreds of dollars for a device and should be able to what we want with it. Its the same as the sony vs geohot fiasco. Its our hardware, let us play.
The phone is great now. Id say the most powerful android device. But in six months or even a year from now there will be devices just as or more powerful on the market. Without kernel access devs can't fine tune or maximize the hardwares potential. So in six months when you could have the latest and greatest ported over to your atrix to keep up with tech trends well be stuck with what moto allows us to have.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
You can put stock gingerbread on the atrix?
Its nice to have the gingerbread notification status bar and keyboard in the roms available, but they didn't just change things cosmetically with GB.
Also what happens when Motorola stops supporting the device after maybe one big software release? Locked bootloader means no new version of android past what Moto may deliever us.
This hardware is quite capable, but that doesn't mean Moto won't release an Atrix 2 next year and but the next version of android on that and leave us out in the cold.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
I think one of the most important benefits is a fringe benefit - with an unlocked bootloader, more devs are motivated to work on the device and hence more customization options even though many of them don't really require a custom kernel.
I'm computer saavy but not Android. If I follow the steps to root....will the phone be totally cool after the process? I'd like to uninstall some Verizon bloat. Are there some must do's after rooting? Is there a noticeable performance gain after eliminating the bloat?

Rooting is a must; and removing the bloat is great, but installing a custom ROM is better performance wise.
Try a couple ROMs and find what one you like best. I use Liberty because I find it to be the fastest.

Sorry bout the thanks..hit the button by accident. As for rooting, if you follow the directions correctly, you SHOULD be ok" but there's always a chance you can have a problem. That's why the directions state at your own risk. And yes you will notice your phone will run considerably faster once you debloat the Verizon crapware. Also installing roms such as nitros eclipse or Kejars31's liberty will also improve the phones performance. Im using liberty & its pretty quick, but both are great. Hope that helps you out
I haven't used Liberty, so I can't vouch for it. But Eclipse is a great rom to try. The devs remove most bloatware, as well as the Blur skin, unless something is necessary in almost all roms. Both of these things, as well as some performance scripts and other built in modifications make a significant difference. Just be sure you have the correct version of android running before flashing, and just to be on the safe side, be sure to download RSD Lite and the correct SBF for 2.3.3 or 2.3.4 whichever you choose.
If you want a ROM, I'd suggest Molten, fastest I've seen!

I'm currently using Eclipse and the V6 script and let me tell you, it is now the phone it should have been stock. Rooting and flashing ROMs are a must for this device, and as long as you follow directions and are crystal clear on what they tell you to do, there is little to no risk involved. I was in your position when I got my X1, and after I installed the Apex ROM, there was no chance I'd ever use stock again. Good luck my friend!

Make sure you follow all of the directions and read up anytime you have a question. I have learned much and more from all the people around here and their informative posts. It is intimidating at first to root, install recovery then install a ROM but once you've done it it is really awesome.
I want to try Liberty on my rooted X2 but cannot find it anywhere. I've searched, but may have missed it. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thank you in advance for your help.

I am currently stock rooted. And yes removing g bloat will free up some ram and u should notice some difference in performance.
But I recommend freezing before removing since there is a lot of apps that are interdependent on each other so u need to be careful what u remove.
most of the roms on here will remove the junk for u anyways.
Just make a nandroid of stock after u root and install our bootstrap so u can always go back to stock if u would like or need to.
If u r just looking to remove apps like kindle amazon blockbuster etc.. u will be fine. Feel free to ask any questions (u can also private message me if ud like) and ill do my best to help ya out that's what this forum is for
Thank you!
And don't worry about the 2.3.4 but anymore, Nitro has fixed it and it should be gone with his next release!

Besides for the debloating/freezing and flashing roms that other posters have mentioned, one of the best things I like about rooting is being able to use an app titled Keyboard Manager. Couldn't have said it better myself. Its not like you unlock a world of free apps and instantly become a Android Guru, you just get those few things that you wanted before and always said "I really wish I could change that" well its making open source even more open.
Keep reading the xda forums and you will learn alot. I started by using the "one click root," freezing bloat wear, and then started experimenting with Roms to squeeze all the free memory and performance I can out of my x2. Like you I am a computer tech head, but didn't know much about android. The knowledge comes fast though.

I second that statement. I've tried Liberty and Eclipse, and no disrespect to those developers at all, but AOSP is the way to go and CM7 is the first AOSP ROM available for the DX2. I was afraid I made the wrong choice for a phone because I root and flash ROMs on my phones, but CM7 on the DX2 has made me feel much better. Try it! You'll love it!
Where did the .sbf go?
I've found several dead links for the "VRZ_MB870_4.5.1A-DTN-117-15_1FF_01.sbf.gz

After reading trough bunch of posts in Neo section i just felt the urge to write this.
Srsly ppls, whats all the fuss about ICS on neo?
I dont get some ppls here, Sony gave u ICS choice.
If they dident give you ICS, you wld complain "Y U NO GIVE US ICS!!"
So they give it,and you are like "Y U NO MAKE ICS RUN AWESOME ON MEH NEO?!"
Eh? get my point?
Nao "was" awesome phone in GB times. It runs ICS decent, if u know how to make it run decent. its still an ok mid class phone!
Why dont we all accept Neo as it is? :good:
Cheers.
Have to agree with you that there are a lot of people whining on XDA and Sony forums. The problem is that most users don't know how to get the most out of their phone, like rooting unlocking bootloaders etc.
Sony did a decent job, at least they pushed out ICS, unlike Galaxy Ace and W(urgh) Gaming is however quite bad on ICS, which is why I am back on GB.
An ICS guide can be found in my sig. It's been gathering dust lately...
I've managed to somewise speed up mine stock Neo ICS by manually removing bloatware with RootExplorer and with AutoKiller Memory Optimizer
I´ve tried the stock ics rom but just doesnt deliver... i just got an hybrid rom, and i´m thinking about give it a chance to cyanogen...overall its ok... i´m not going back to gb so soon...

Hello,
I have Sola for 6 months by now and it was a hell of a phone till i decided to upgrade to ICS. After that, my performance decreased signifcantly and I can't even do simple tasks. Tasks which a low end phone can do, even better then mine, such as the simple Galaxy Y S5360. And, yes, i get pissed when I look this phone behaving better then mine.
I tried to downgrade to GB, to upgrade to ICS, install a custom ROM of ICS and etc. Lately i tried Munjeni JellyBean, and after that, eXperience Innovation ROM. All of them have a good performance, but still, they do poorly then the Galaxy Y.
I miss my performance and i want to ask you guys, how the hell can i have my phone acting like a real dual-core phone?
Hope you guys can help me

Root it and debloat it asap. It would fly on and won't get back to Earth then, I bet.
Back up always before doing stuff
Before even thinking about installing new roms, kernels, mods, tweaks.. anything be sure that you've backed up using recovery and have saved it not only on your phone but your pc also.. that way if anything f***s up, all you need to do is restore and your saved.
Okay, i need your guys help again.
My phone did great till now, but its kinda slow already. So, i want to upgrade the kernel/rom/whatever to make it fly again. Would you guys recommend me some updates?
I was thinking of "eXperience Innovation" or maybe "Ultimate Rom V11". Those roms will make my phone better? As i said previously, I just need my phone behaving like a dual-core powerful phone as it is.
Thanks :cyclops:
Install cm9 or cm10.1. best roms for our phones, hands down
I suggest that you must try project xvr rom, its more stable and really smooth, no problem with multitasking, etc.
