So, I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking this...
I'm tired of all the ROMs in the Original development section that are basically the KG6/KH3/Whatever with Ninphetamine Kernel. In my opinion the only original development with all of these is the kernel itself. Any ROM made with the Kernel is a derivative and therefore not original. Most of them are just themed Stock ROMs, some add a few apps. Why are they in the Original Development Section if they aren't original?
You have answered your own question basically.
As they are stock roms with a theme and a few apps cooked in and vary very little from the stock kernal.
Custom roms have had their kernals ripped apart and altered to the point where the original kernal would not be recognized by the developer.
The premise that Original roms have a kernel and a few themes is wrong .
You only need to read a roms specifications to work that out .

Is there a pure gingerbread rom out there that will work sgs2. A rom with no personnel tweaks, just plain stock GB.
Yes, there is. Go into the original development forum and search for AOSP. I believe there's 2 working ones.
I know this might get flamed but, what Kernel do YOU have the best results on, i know everyone uses their phones different, have different apps and all. but as an individual which Kernel do you achieve the most satisfaction out of?
ATM using RotBox 1.2
Latest Fluxi Kernel
About a week ago I switched to the rooted XWLPG stock Sammy kernel (using with an XWLPG based ROM) and the results have surprised me. Battery life and scrolling performance are as good as any other custom kernel I've used, and there are no bugs I've come across. I know that a couple of other people have complained about the smoothness of this kernel, but I have not experienced that problem, even when running underclocked at 1 GHz.
first of all, questions go in the q&a section.
and for us to recommend a kernel, one would have to know, what rom you use. you cannot use certain ics kernels with gingerbread and you cannot use stock kernels with aosp.
and how do you get a thanks for a question like that?

I thanked him accidentally. Gave you one too for your trouble.
Just try them yourself. A good place to start would be to sort the forum by "Stats".

Hi! i have just bought a galaxy s3! Before i had a galaxy s scl and im familiarized with custom kernels and roms but with this phone i feel like newbie. I see there are a lot of custom kernels and i wanted to know if to put a new kernel is like before. Put the tar file in pda and flash with odin.
Another question is what differences are with stock kernels.
Also i would like to ask about roms, which is the best rom actually?
Thanks
Now most of the kernels can be flashed with cwm recovery. Just go through kernel instructions and how to flash on your phone.
There are lots of different kernels available. You can find the features and difference in their topic itself. Some are good for performance, some are for speed, some are battery life. You will have to find best kernel for youself. I am using syiah 1.8.
Best Rom discussions are prohibited here. You can try different rooms and see which one works for you. If you like vanilla android then try cm10.

It's funny, because everyone wants to change the stock theme to AOSP.
To keep the original theme, flash one of the Samsung based ROMS (Android development subforum), they'll have the version letters in the title (the current version is LL5)
Many roms have a stock theme .
Read the roms description first .

A clue a rom beginning with o has a stock theme and so do many others .

First, questions are not encouraged in General Section. Read rules before doing some action.
Second, have you read OP of that kernel you want to install? If no, then read it
If yes, then follow it
Third, There is no best mod. Some may like one and some may another.
Fourth, kernels are in development section, go and read the thread, you'll know how to do it
