this is making me feel like a total loooooser, but I can't find the setting to remove the 3D homescreen "effect." -- I'm running LGS 1.6 and don't remember the setting being so difficult to find when I turned the damn thing on, but now I think its screwing with my screen...
Mostly visible on the homescreen, but never in an running app, are a bunch of static lines that have gone away in the past with a reboot, but are getting worse and worse now...any ideas or is anybody else experiencing this on this ROM?
Thanks

You might also try a fresh flash. Sometimes android just plays better after it's cleaned up.

As the title says my GFs 10.1 will go full brightness at random times. Only way to change it back is to go into setting. The slider is all the way down but have to slide it to full then back down. Any ideas guys?
The fix is: Go TO SETTINGS, SCREEN, AUTO ADJUST SCREEN POWER, UNCHECK. Thanks bd85!

I have had this issue as well when using auto brightness function. Only when viewing photo albums. Very annoying. I no longer use the auto brightness function now. Little issues like this drive me crazy. Add this to the keyboard lag and other small issues and i start to question the purchase.
Thankfully i found this site to help me realize its not just me...misery loves company. Lol.
Have you guys tried to shut off the option in setting that's can analyze the screen color and more and the adjust the screen for power savings.
I have noticed what you are mention. And it only appears in movie's because the picture change often so the tab tried to compensate the colors often.
Go TO SETTINGS, SCREEN, AUTO ADJUST SCREEN POWER, UNCHECK.
And I am not talking about the auto brightness that you can access from clicking on the lower right part of your screen

That seemed to be it. Didn't think to check that since the Xoom doesn't have that setting. One thing i wish the xoom had was the whole different wallpaper for lock screen thing the 10.1 has.
When I unlock the phone it always starts up very dim and sometimes it turns bright sometimes it doesn't. I have auto-brightness off and I have my brightness set to 100%. I have to move the slider off of 100% and back to 100% to get it that bright. It is very weird. Anybody know how to fix this?
I have the same problem.

Settings > Display > Auto adjust screen power (untick). Try now.
Been unchecked since day 1. Still does it. Possible that I have a defective unit?

Is it dim on the home screen or certain apps? cuz internet browser, video etc got their own brightness settings built in that you have to change from the settings within the app.

It is dim from the lock screen. Everything once I unlock it is dim. If I lock and unlock the phone like 3 times fast it is fine, but it's a pain in the ass. I'll see if I can take a video of it later when I get home.
I know you said "everything" but try to go to internet browser and disable "auto-brightness" under brightness setting.
Also upgrade your firmware to the latest one to see if that help. My Smart detect is not working and after upgraded it work every single time plus the cell stand by is much improved
I just got my phone back from service, they updated to LF5 - so far it has solved my proplems with dim
I have had 2 handsets that do this now. Its really annoying especially when you are outside.
Basically what is happening is that when your screen dims down before it goes off thats what is happening when you unlock the phone.
I can be using it for 5-10 secs before the full brightness kicks in.
It has nothing to do with power saver or internet. Just running through the home pages and apps list it is doing it.
I am on the latest firmware too.
Does anyone know whats causing it? Is it just a faulty handset (or 2)?
Mine the same. I don't think there bad devices I think its just software related tbh

Well im glad some others of you have experianced this also.
I just hope its something that will be fixed in an update.
It really p****s me off when it does it and im outdoors.
I've been suffering from sporadic sense restarts for a couple of weeks now, usually after heavy app use and when using the 'back' key to get back to the main screen. I've tried uninstalling programs and removing widgets to try and isolate the problem with little success. However, I may have stumbled upon it's root cause...showing the weather on the lock screen.
Right before a sense restart one day I briefly saw the weather lock screen flash which I thought was peculiar, so I disabled it (set it to the basic wallpaper) and it has been running perfect ever since! Also the lag moving from screen to screen that was happening from time to time is totally gone now as well. It's like the turbo has been turned back on....
I'm not sure if this is a coincidence, or possibly gets sense below a memory threshold that's the underlining issue, but I thought I'd pass it along to see if it helps others that have been experiencing the soft restarts as well.
Yeah, I have been having the same reboot screen problems with Sense even without the Weather lock screen. It makes me like Sense more and more after I really liked it on the TP2, OG Evo, and Evo 3D.

E This has been covered in a number of threads. Weather in and of itself is not the culprit, it's the resource use and how much of that sense and the Sense loader takes up. A search will show many discussions

Exactly.
Plus I have been using just a normal wallpaper and I still get sense restarting.

ALL of Sense's lock screens take up about 50MB of data. Productivity, Weather, nothing but the wallpaper.. they're all the same.
The best bet is if you're root to delete HTC's lockscreen, saving 50MB, and going with stock ICS. You have to unlock to answer phonecalls, but it's worth it.
Also, get a different launcher like nova or apex. Even if they have to restart they're MUCH quicker than Sense.
try my rom
ive never had sense reboot
From more experimenting it looks like it's not the weather lock per se, as soon as I added a battery widget I started getting restarts again. It's like Sense gets to a certain memory usage and the restarts ensue. The last thing I did before it stopped restarting was change from the weather lock, so it's quite possible it was on the edge and the weather graphics/etc. put it over the threshold.
Anyways, a custom ROM is definitely next on my list, would have already done if I could get into wallet to reset.....
Did you try changing the build prop? I did that to reset my wallet so I could Rom it.
You don't have "Don't keep activities" checked in developer options do you? I had that checked and it it caused sense to restart constantly... As it should, I wasn't thinking when I checked it.

No, not checked. Background process limit is set to 'standard' as well although I did try different settings under that with little success.

Regarding resetting the wallet..
I edited my build.prop to have ro.device or something along that to say htc_jewel instead of just jewel. I was able to get into wallet, and I used that lucky break to clear out my wallet settings so I could wipe out the OS.
Hoping someone may be able to help me figure this out. Daughter got ahold of my phone the other day. Along with trying to charge about $50 worth of Talking Animal apps, she also enabled some sort of a process that appears in the upper right hand corner of the screen. It updates real-time, with what looks to be currently running processes [See attachment]. There is a graph bar behind the text that looks like it could either be a graph of memory or disk space usage. I've gone through every setting in the phone and can't seem to find anything that would be linked to it. It appears as though its a hard process that runs outside of a software controlled environment, if that makes sense. No matter what applications are opened up, this process overlay still persists. Checked in MAGLDR just to be sure there wasn't some funky option that had been changed.
Also, not the biggest deal in the world but somehow she changed my default sound effect for keypress on the keyboard. Sounds like a typewriter now. Maybe I'm not as near as familiar with the CyanogenMod environment as I thought; I can't seem to find that option either.
I'm currently using CyanogenMod-7 NIGHTLY Desire with MAGLDR v3.6.5.
Any help you guys can provide would be greatly appreciated. This is starting to drive me a little crazy.
No one has any idea?
It's under developer options uncheck "Show CPU usage". And for the keyboard sound go under sound and uncheck keytone (Which when enabled plays a sound when a keyboard key is pressed). Hope this helps .

Thank you Shrimp! It wasn't exactly the spot but it did definitely give me an idea of where to look. Completely forgot about the actual "Dev Tools APPLICATION on the phone. Found the setting under Dev Tools > Development Settings > Unchecked the 'Show Running Processes' option.
As far as the sound goes, I want the sound but somehow the original sound effect of the keyboard itself got swapped out with the this Typewriter sound. May need to make a separate post about it, just one of those minor inconveniences I'd hoped to knock out along the way.
Thanks again!

Backup your apps and other data then reinstall Cyanogenmod that should fix your keyboard sound issue.

I've seen and tried a couple of work arounds to remove App Associations from ICS/Sense 4.1 - I've tried fapple final but get boot loops. Tried removing HTCLinkifyDispatcher.apk (w/ build.prop edits) and nothing at all links up. Is there any method that actually works for our device?
(was using CM10.1 but the secure lock screen slowness and deteriorating quality took me back to VIPER)

I don't have a Sense ROM installed right now, but I assume this setting still exists:
Settings > Applications > (App which you don't want associated anymore) > Clear defaults

Due to a lawsuite with Apple, HTC had to put in an open app to app hook block - HTCLinkifyDispatch.apk. Its gotten better in OTAs but it still prevents things like clicking "Yes | No | Maybe" in GCal invite emails from opening in the Calender app.
Also, I don't mean to get off topic but you work is great but a few little things are smoother in stock.

After some of the later unofficials I find it laggy. Random scroll jumps (jumps down, then back up). Play still crashes, no matter CPU settings. Touch also goes unresponsive where official nightlies rarely did. I can deal with all of that actually. The kicker is the pin, password and pattern unlock are painfull slow across all versions of CM10.1 on this device. Setting it in preferences is fast but actually using it to unlock your phone it vibrates like a mother and either freezes or severly lags behind.

the scrolling problem fix that worked for me was to go to developers options and check disable HW overlays.the other stuff i can't help ya.
really not sure if thats the fix but it helped mine i haven't had a scroll problem since, but also i've installed all the updates as they are released
