im considering trading my tbolt for a different phone. im having too many battery life and 4g issues. my question is if i trade will i loose my unlimited data? i just signed up with verizon for a 2 year plan back in june of this year. i also wonder how long i would need to keep my tbolt to avoid best buy or verizon charging me full price?

No. The terms of contract are on the line and account, not the device.

so the only time ill loose my unlimited data is when my two years is up and i renew?
what about the amount of time i need to keep the phone, does anyone know best buy/verizon policy?...i think it's 3-6 months, not sure?

I don't think they care at all. I can't remember the last time I actually used a phone on the line I used to for the upgrade. I get an upgrade on one line and have my number set on it. My dInc I shoved off to a totally different contract before the contract on it's renewal line was up.

I don't know how you are going to jump phones to fix 4G draining issues those exist on all phone @ this point with exception of bionic maybe since it has not hit the hands of consumers so they can toy around with it for 12 hours. Why not get extended battery and call it good at least till more option come out. Find a Rom that works for you tweak settings stop kernel jumping and be happy.

I can talk from experience. I had a thunderbolt then I traded it for a droid charge on craigslist at the beginning of August. And I still had my unlimited data plan. And two weeks ago i dropped my charge and it broke so I bought a Incredible 2 (3g) off craigslist and had Verizon activate it and I still have my unlimited data plan.
You shouldnt have any problems but if you do you can call verizon and they are still more than willing to set you up with an unlimited data plan (even though they technically cant)

Those of us who acquired unlimited data though the MHS loophole might be reverted to tiered plans.
Let's not debate who did this and right versus wrong, I would like to know who has been reverted back to tiered. Please let us know here...

Still got mine. Added unlimited early November and removed hot spot 5 minutes after the call.
Still got it here too....Signed up in November, kept it for 3 weeks, then got rid of it....
we know people still have it, this is for people who got changed back to tiered.

But if you see all the people who still have it versus those who lost it...then it can put the internet masses into perspective.
Like I mentioned elsewhere, I see a lack of evidence of people actually being reverted back other than that one article. Maybe he did something stupid like try to switch from a 4G to a 3G device and then lost his unlimited.
My rezound is coming Monday-- my buddy ordered it for me since I'm on his fam plan. He did it all online and claimed there was no choice to keep my unlimited plan from my Droid Incredible. He signed me up the for the 4 gb plan.. Any chance of me getting back my unlimited by going into a store and chatting w/ a sales rep once I have the phone in my hands? Or any other workarounds??

Oh really? I don't see that specifically in the title. If everyone who tried the method posted their results here, either way, we'd have a better idea of what's going on. Either that, or you'll have a blank thread. Let the OP monitor his question instead of doing it for him.

if you search, not only on this site but others then you will see the ratio of people still having it and those that got changed back are slim. There are threads that detail how to get it and if they still have it Here and here So if you want people to look through post after post of people saying they still have it, when he asked if people have actually got it reverted then ok, make people do more work. btw i love the forum ignore list

Arent you on grounds to terminate your contract if they do indeed change you ba k ? At end of the day, the csr did notify you about making the change and put unlimited in there knowingly. Its not like you hacked the system and did it. You asked for it, they said sure and you had it.

4. I have buyback at best buy so they're giving me 210 for my phone

7. 90

If you had a termination fee that means you left sprint, therefore you'll have a higher monthly bill no matter where you go. Also, you'll have a metered internet cap with your spanky new 4G LTE phone, and therefore you've also opened yourself up to an overage bill on the internet if you are a moderate to heavy user.
Enjoy your new phone.

Hello,
Thanks to being able to bill to my account, I ordered a 64gb iPhone 5 today. I am honestly not sure if I am going to end up keeping it as I have been using Androids since 2.1 (Eclair) and I really like the platform. However, I am frustrated that Sprint frakked the Photon 4G replacement and I am not fond of Samsung (too plasticky) and to a lesser extent HTC.
I was honestly praying that Sprint would get some sort of version of the RAZR. The Intel Atom powered RAZR looks amazing, but has only been announced for Europe and I think Asia.
Being with Sprint since 1999, I really am conflicted about the iPhone in general. Thanks to Sprint having to pony up Billions of Dollars just to offer the bloody thing. they have done away with the Premier Gold Program replete with 12 Month Upgrades, the ability to bill equipment to your account at any corporate owned Sprint Store, and far less understanding Account Services actions.
That being said., it will be nice to have tons of options for Accessories where with the Photon there are hardly any. Still, I am hoping a flagship Android Phone is announced by Sprint in the next month.
Cheers,
JJ

My wife just got the iphone 5 and it's pretty impressive. I don't understand why people here sound so indignant that a photon user would be jumping ship. There is a market for the iphone obviously. I find it a foolish exercise to try and compare phones and platforms. At the end of the day they do the same most of functions. At the end of the day
Choice of device is a personal one. If on the day I told myself I now longer care to think about my tech I might move to a different platform as well. People have reasons for moving to ios, and are better for it in many cases.

Is there no one saddened by the news of an Iphone convert simply because he was able to pay about what the phone is actually worth, $40?
Wouldn't you jump ship if you could get a Cryphone at a cheap price?
I'm sure there's plenty of people in 3rd world countries that would love to have this phone rather than something like food or shelter. How else

I have an evo lte running cm 10 and am very happy with it. I am also eligible for an upgrade and was wondering what should I do with it. I was thinking get an iPhone 5 and Craigslist it to some poor isheep for a cool $450ish profit. Or wait for the Galaxy Note II, and sell that one? I think the iPhone would bring better profit. Yup. If you're getting a device just to sell...go this route.

I think your logic is flawed here. You get the upgrade by signing a contract. So let's say you do this and get the iPhone 5 and sell it for 500 bux. You get you supposed cash for ****s and giggles or to get a new device, that's cool too. Now what happens when a surprise must have device drops in four months. You've spent your money and now are also still locked into contract. Person who bought you iPhone 5 made out like a bandit while your stuck with **** all.
My advice, upgrade to the phone you want or buy your phone outright and get off contracts. Don't let some shmuck on CL make out with deal cuz you want a little party cash.
My $0.02 anyways.

Never buy a phone subsidized unless you totally have to.. Screw 2 year contracts, I'll pay full price please.
In your case I'd buy the iPhone and flip it for some "now" money. You can actually sell it for around 6-700 if you time it right.

I would also get the Note 2, but I thought that you had to keep the phone activated on the line you are upgrading for at least 90 days... might want to check on that... I have two lines and they have different upgrade times, so I thought I could basically have an upgrade each year by alternating but they told me that the phone has to be activated on the line for 90 days... maybe it was just a rep having a bad day...

Im interested in the answer here as well. The only way I can find to make it cheaper is to go T-Mobile on their $30 monthly plan - http://goo.gl/dNLll
It gets pretty cheap compared to your base sprint plan pretty quick going that route.
Are there other options there I am missing?

Not true, they may tell you this at sprint but as long as you activate a new or upgraded phone on the line its supposed to go on you can immediately call back n switch it to another line or off lines. I've done it dozens of times. As long as a phone stays on the line your good, only has to be new phone for a sec to trip the account.
Wait for the new Nexus.

Just my personal belief in not signing a 2 year contract to use a service. I can walk away at any time in those 2 years and not be stuck with an ETA and can also come back as I please. Also you pay a high premium for that phone when it's subsidized.
I just feel it's better to have the option to leave when/if you want.. Guess I shouldn't have said "Never" as I was pushing my thoughts on people. I should have worded it a little different. If you can avoid to purchase the phone full price that's the way to go so you're not locked in and locked down for 2 years.

You pay for that subsidy every month in your bill. Might as well use it.
It's easy to walk away from a contract by making them kick you off.

I just got done talking to a best buy representative, and they told me that as the of 2 days ago, any kind of hardware change will cancel your unlimited Internet. So you cannot purchase phones from eBay and use that loophole anymore.
Edit: Apparently this is a false flag and Best Buy has zero clue of what's going on. But I'm not saying that they won't close this loophole in the future.

I talked to Verizon yesterday about going to the note 2 and they never mentioned anything like that. They confirmed pretty much what I already know (In order to keep your unlimited, you would have to upgrade another line, or add a line, then transfer the phone, or supply your own phone) You shouldn't always believe what you hear, especially from the salesmen at best buy.

They said they have had a bunch of angry customers these past few days and that Verizon is trying to close every loophole possible on us unlimited planners.
If this is true I'm ditching Verizon and going pre-paid. Nexus 4 on Straight Talk is looking pretty promising.
Ok? So what would happen if I switch while under contract? I'm good up to October.
This isn't true, I'm not saying the OP is making it up, but I do think the guy at best buy is blowing smoke up his ass. If this were the case, it would be all over the internet by now. Try googling it.

i'm sure i would've heard of this.
if this is the case, then that first time you do an ESN switch, you'd lose unlimited. i esn switched to my DNA 2 weeks ago, and i'm still good. if i ESN switch to the gs3 to get teh update and i drop unlimited, i'll let you know, raise hell to verizon, and possibly leave them after 15 years if they won't give it back lol

They said it's as of 2 days ago. I really hope they have no clue what their talking about. IF it is true, I'm gonna have to treat my rezound like a baby.
Sorry , if this has been answered before. I haven't worried about losing my unlimited data because I was happy on my Rezound. Now, though I am really looking at one of the newer handsets coming out this fall. I realize if I subsidize the phone I will be forced to give up my unlimited , but I notice my contract is up in December . Will I be forced out of unlimited in December even if I choose not to upgrade my phone ? If so I might as well take a subsidized phone otherwise I lose plan regardless. Just wondering if anyone has gone through this process recently.
Thank you for any responses.
You dont lose your unlimited unless you make some types of changes to your current plan, or you upgrade without buying your new phone outright. You can also keep your current plan if you have insurance on your phone and make a claim, upgrading that way.

Like the post above don't make any changes to your plan and don't buy a new phone and sign a contract. Might wanna check out eBay or something for cheaper phone as new phones out right cost anywhere from 300-700 bucks.

I don't want to sound dumb but how does someone upgrade when making an insurance claim?

If they no longer carry your phone, they will give you one of equal value when you gotyour phone If they have none with same specs. At least that is how I upgraded from my Inc to Spectrum then this Rezound.
My replacements were through Verizon. Manufacturer Defect warranty. I pay for the extended warranty

Do your upgrade today if your contract is up (http://www.engadget.com/2013/09/29/verizon-wireless-website-unlimited-data-upgrade/)
I just bought an LG G2 while keeping unlimited. Used VZWDEALS as a promocode and got 50 more dollars off
