Hello,
i was loading new fw to my Galaxy 2 and suddenly electric was cut off and it kept downloading..
i had to pull the battery out after waiting half an hour and it is not turning on anymore..
i can't enter recovery, download mode..
Device is fully silent though full battery..
now that means that it is bricked and what is the solution ?
thanks for your help in advance..
What was your current fw and what were you installing
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Had the same problem with my Galaxy S, i had to send it to a Samsung shop who was able to flash a new rom.

i had litening rom XWKF3 and loading miui 1.9.2 beta 8..
i think there is no chance waiting for a while without battery...
in that case i should prepare myself to Samsung shop..
Have a Jig? Could try with that.
Were you doing it through a pc? Laptops have ups built in and so does your phone. Less chance of bricking when using a laptop.
I voided my warranty and your mum.

i've heard jig but it works for turned on devices,i suppose.
i mean soft brick ones.
My device is not acting any energy, action etc.
it looks like there can't be any operation with usb cables,laptops,3th party programs etc.

A JIG is used on turned off phones. It forced the phone to enter Download mode, even when the user can't get there while pressing the buttons.
You seem to have a soft bricked phone due to a bad flash, so a JIG might work on yours. I would suggest you buy one on ebay (there like 10 bucks) or make one yourself. You can find the tutorial here somewhere on XDA.
Its worth the money and it is always worth a try.

Yep me too. i even managed to soft brick my phone twice in 1 day and both times it was jig to the rescue. Definately worth $4 cause I'm not sure that samsung would be very sympathetic to flashing custom roms etc
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

Hello Everyone,
While trying to Flush my SGS2 with a cooked room using Odin my device got DEAD.
This is what happened exactly:
1- After successful room flushing the SGS2 got rebooted but unfortunately it did not loaded the room.(Stuck in boot screen_Black screen with Samsung Galaxy S2)
2- i waited several hours for the galaxy to let go the boot screen but it wont.!!
3- i pulled the battery then put the galaxy back to download mode and retried flushing the room but it was giving the same result.
4- unfortunately after doing the same several times the device got DEAD..
Now:
- I cant power on my galaxy
- When connecting it to PC nothing Happen (Odin does not show any device connected)
- Plugin in the charger, The galaxy got heated.
I am just thinking i have missed up the partition table, please mistake me if i am wrong.
Or any one can help in this.
Note:
- the same happened with my two devices.
- Since Galaxy s2 is not released in my country i bought them from outside the country with no warranty.
Any one can help.???
Thanking you in advance for the support.

yes the 301k resistor does work on the SGS2 aswell.
Just fro your information i have just checked with one of my friends he is having the same issue.
He used the same resistor 310K on both SGS2 & SGS1, unfortunately it only worked with SGS1.
Any way i will try it on my device and come back soon.

same jig for SGS2 .
jje
Damn, yeh i got the same problem, my galaxy s2 is dead. Won't power on and screen is completely blank. So i'm guessing a jig wont help it, unless proven otherwise.
The same thing happened on first boot of my first SGS2. I pressed the Power Button, played for like 2 mins with TW and then the phone stuck and switched itself off.
Long story short, I couldn't get it to switch on again, so I sent it to service and the response was it had a faulty motherboard.
So I think you should return it. My 2 cents.

warranty is not really an issue, I belive under UCC and under normal statutory law in EU that the retialer is legally responsable for 2 years. If it's unfit for purpose in that time, you simply return it. If they refuse, you ask them to put their refusal on paper for the record. Often it turns out fine
ok so far that i've searched no one had same issues as i do...
this morning.. half asleep me put the SGS2 near the sink and when i washed my face i think little bit of water got into micro usb socket... the phone itself works perfectly can call/browse and download from internet but when i try to connect micro usb it DOES detect the plug and starts to charge.. but it DOES NOT detect its usb.. thus i cant enter mass storage mode or anything...
then when i took the plug off it time to time think its still on and it goes to charging mode without the plug and goes off and on again and again.. sometime later it stops...
first: i know i should have turned it off.. but i cant since i am waiting for really important (yes even more important than my beloved SGS2)
second: once ive received the call, ill turn it off and wait full day to turn it back off again and see if the micro usb starts to work..
and now here is my question IF IT DOESNT WORK i'm planning to return it for warranty... and here is my problem i have the custom binary count as 0 thats no problem BUT!! i probably need to unroot and make it into stock firmware... the problem is.. i only know flashable via odin version of stock firmware.. is there a flashable via cwm version? coz obviously if micro usb doesnt work i cant use odin even if i get into download mode... and if there is cwm version i can download it off from dropbox and then flash via cwm without connecting micro usb
EDIT: forgot to mention... i can turn off and reboot the phone fine
Mobile ODIN .

They more than likely won't repair it under warranty. Water damage isn't covered unless you have some kind of insurance.
Maybe you can try wth a hair drier but you would have to take your phone apart.I also dropped mine optimus mw in the thub but i ripped the battery out 1 sec later and then i took it apart and used a hair drier set to low. After that i let it stay apart for 3-4 hours and then closed it put the battery in and it works fine now.

don't flash a rom when you're low on battery, you might brick it for good.
recharge first and reflash when you're battery is full or about 50% (if you cannot wait)
I know I´m stupid do that with low battery but that happened...
sure I charged the battery but also after that is phone no working...

Recovery mode no ??
Download mode ??? no
Next step is buy a USB recovery jig and try to get to download mode .
Fails its pay for a JTag repair cheaper than paying for a service repair .

To JJEgan: Thank you and yes you´re right.
Recovery mode no
Download mode no
Flashing was in progress. Already few minutes and now phone is without any reaction.
Total death...
Any other solution without USB jig cable?
I think is not so easy buy it in shops and will take time...
Jig will more than likely not work, but worth a try. Apart from that, you need a JTAG repair done by a 3rd party; cheaper option or have Samsung repair it; more expensive option unless they somehow miraculously repair it under warranty.
Unless you know you can get it JTAG repaired & the phone back to you before the jig arrives, you might as well wait for the jig. You never know, it may work.

I'm being honest with you. The jig has maybe a 5% chance of working. The NAND likely got corrupted when the phone died midway thru the flash.
If I'd said to you (like some people on here would) 'Oh yeah, get a jig, guaranteed to get you into download mode every time !' & the jig ends up not working, how would you feel after you'd got your hopes up ?
The reality is jigs do not work in the vast majority of these situations, and only a JTAG repair (either by a 3rd party or by Samsung) will fix it. Unfortunate, probably. But that's the way these things go.

link to jig? and is it hard to use and do u think its maby the battery
The good news: it's not your battery that did it.
The bad news: it was flashing a kernel that's not made for the i717 that did it.
The ugly news: your phone is probably hard bricked and it'll cost you about 50 bucks to get it JTAG'd. Unless you somehow get it back to download mode. Which is unlikely.

I was having this same issue with my last Note after flashing a corrupt rom, pretty sure it's hard bricked. Brought it to the service center and told them it happened randomly after pulling it off the charger. The guy was definitely skeptical but he replaced my phone regardless so I imagine (hope) they couldn't tell. If you happen to try a jig I'd be curious to know if it works for you.
Edit: Saw that you tried a jig to no avail. Mind that last sentence lol.

If you can see the samsung bootloader then yeah there's hope otherwise you're gonna need the $100 fix for it.
But at least people are responding, I got no love on my end, lol
keeping things in perspective, as I posted before, I have never seen anyone report that a jig does any good on this phone..
You would be better off either using JTAG, or calling Samsung, and playing stupid, and tell them it died after you did an update that the phone requested..they will send you a replacement, with no questions asked.
go through the general and q&a sections; you will see that a jig doesn't do anything for this phone..

Well smokestack76 told you differently yesterday. He said over 20 times with a jig. Plus for $1.60 I will give it a try.
yes, for the price, if it makes you feel better, try it..
and, if you believe him, when you can find 20 others that said it did absolutely nothing, then that's your choice.
the sooner you send it in to Samsung, the sooner you will have a working phone..
If Samsung is wiling to send you a loaner phone while you're under warranty i can't see why you wouldnt do that.
I know Nintendo is awesome like that but apparently Samsung reps are quite jaded when you do something silly like ask an honest question.
I wish Samsung would honor warranty services if the device hasn't been on the market longer than year.
I'm A. Maybe he Made a mistake and wants to own up for it insted of weasling into a fraudulent phone.
B. I would be a little jaded as well when I get people calling me all day that have messed up their own phone and are now trying to steal from me.
C. Samsung does honor warranties a year after the device has been on market. YOUR WARRANTY DOES NOT GO INTO EFFECT UNTIL THE ORIGINAL DATE OF PURCHASE. not when the first one of its kind rolls off the assembly line.
Also, wase a jig does work of you are not actually bricked, if you were to be soft bricked the jig would force download mode. I had a captivate I built a jig for, first thing I did was try it on my note. Bam, download mode.
And finally op it's a micro usb jig not mini. Mini is bigger than micro
yeah bro, I know a jig works for SOME phones; it helped me bring my S2 back to life..
However, I have read many many reports of it doing nothing for the Note, so that was why I said what I did..
Plus, people are using the term "Bricked" around here in so many ways, that its hard to know what they mean when they say it..to me, a bricked phone is DEAD, and nothing but an expensive paperweight.....
I can take a video of my note going from off to download mode with nothing but my jig. However the same jig that works on both my phones is out of resistance tolerance on my brothers sgs2.
And yes bricked is used much too often,it is a term to describe when your phone is inert, has no pliability and just sits there, like the baked red clay building material it was named for.
was curious to see if the OP had any luck with the jig....
Well the jig did nothing for me. I suggest send your phone to mobiletechvideos.com for repair, he goes through the JTAG recovery method, and he also unlocked mine... he did a great job. I bricked my Note flashing a ROM for another device by mistake, could not use the jig for anything, so had it repaired. Feeling really happy now... hope this helps.
the jig isn't and was never meant to fix a hard brick...
[history lesson]
Back on captivate, certain bootloaders would disable the button combos for download and recovery, making a simple (I hate the term... But) soft brick into a much stickier situation, so it was discovered that using 300k ohms of resistance across certain pins on the usb port from a powered off state would trigger download mode in seconds, making you then able to simply odin a stock rom and try again.
It was later discovered that the jig had the same effect on the sgs2 with the added benefit of restting the flash counter.
[/history lesson]
If you flash a firmware for the international note on an i717 you will need jtag because you are indeed bricked of the hard variety.

Nope gig still in the mail, however took Note to ATT Device Service Center and they told me mother board failure and replaced it. So might not have been related to flashing, inspection seem pretty in depth, removed back cover, using multi meter type of tool and said mother board didn't provide correct response to input. My mandatory 10 days to return no functioning unit is 17 Dec so don't think will have chance to try the jig before I send it back or be charged $549 for non-functioning unit.

might as well keep the jig for the couple of bucks it cost..plus, even if it doesn't work for this phone, it might work for your next one!
