Stuck on Tap N Tap screen - G Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My tablet is stuck on the "N" in tap n tap . I have the stock rom. Just out of the blue this happened. I can hold down the power button to turn off but the tablet just does not boot past the "N". After amybe 3 minutes it loops to the TapNTap screen and then the "N" again. I do have CWM installed but otherwise it is stock. I ahte to loose all my data and apps and have to NV Flash again. ANyway to fix this without NVFlash ?

try booting into clockwork mod, clear cache. then install zip from sd card. find your update.zip and let it re-install. you shouldn't lose all your apps.
if that doesn't work, you might have to go the nv flash route. but, then you might as well flash one of the other custom roms as it totally changes the tablet for the better.

Thank you, will give it a try. Much appreciated.

Semi Bricked by uinstalling Chainfire3d Driver

Ok here's what happened...
I had Viper 1.3 running ok.... so I decide to give chainfire3d a try.. and install the nvidia drivers 1st...
It didn't make splinter cell work so I decided I'd uinstall it... after I put the original drivers back....
I installed the qualcom driver thinking that was it... Then I uinstalled chainfire3d.
Now when I boot my phone its totally black.
I think I can fix this if someone guides me through the recovery or guides me through wiping & re-installing viper.
Method 2 would be alot quicker, but worst case scenario,
I still have a nand backup but its on my computer.. So I'd need to boot into recovery.
And then access the sd card.. & then navigate to load it.
Great news I'm access the sd card right now and puttin the nand image back.
The only thing now is when I boot into recovery if I even make it that far, all I see is a black screen. No flash, the keys don't light up, & the power led blinks red once.
....
30 minutes later... I can boot into recovery but I can't see. Using a youtube video I mounted the sd card & have the viper rom ready to restore after I wipe it.
But I need directions on which keys to hit & the number of times.
I have just clicked wipe & something... the 3rd selection then I hit enter... Plz help
Try putting the PC86IMG.zip for TWRP back on the root of your sdcard and reflash that in the bootloader. If that all goes well, you should have a working recovery. Let me know how it goes, I'm going to bed soon so if I don't answer, I will check this thread in the morning. Best of luck!!
Can you give me the next instructions on which buttons to hit..
How many times do I hit volume down to accept yes I want to wipe it?
Or if I need to restart and choose another option.... because I already selected wipe & hit power.

How do you know that it's actually doing anything? Seriously, try what I suggested and flash TWRP from the bootloader, I have a feeling that will fix it for you. If not, you can also do the factory reset from the bootloader.
already tried factory reset... & can you navigate me to flash
All I have to go on is this youtube video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GmQswv3vKrU
I already restarted my phone into the boot menu
Its not working -_-
.. I went to sleep and its working now

[SOLVED] ROM wont load - cant scroll in recovery

SOLVED
Hi all!
So I download the Beatmod rom, installed but forgot to clear cache. I made a new backup and the rom installed.
Upon the rom loading, it crashes when it gets to the unlock screen and reboots. I figured I'd just go back into the recovery menu and restore the backup I'd just made.
Both the volume buttons and the power button that are used to scroll and select are unresponsive (though they're not faulty otherwise I wouldn't be able to boot into recovery in the first place) and so I can't install the backup rom!
Has anyone any ideas?
I'm using the DHD
Thanks
Fixed this simply by removing the SD card and sim. Booted with vol down and power and was then able to scroll to Recovery. After selecting I put the cards back in No idea why this would help but it did! The moral of the story is don't be a moron.

[Q] Prime won't boot (stuck in boot process)

Hi there
My prime is stuck in boot, it will show the boot screen looping forever.
I have tried the following things:
- Resetting (button next to microSD)
- Holding volume up and power button to switch it off and back on
- Holding the power button for 15 - 30 - 60 secs
- Holding volume down + power button to get in the recovery menu
- Selected up for recovery mode, shows the android laying on its back, stops loading and reboots
- Selected down both for cold start and resetting user data.
This all failed. Anyone got an option or a solution?
Greets
Last solution to try before sending it back or returning is to try to drain the battery. Let it keep bootlooping or keep power off then on. Some had same issue n let battery drain. Then recharge it and it might fix itself like that. If that doesn't work, check out Asus website for prime trouble shooting or just exchange tablet. That recovery mode should work though. You go into recovery n clear all caches n data n whatever then factory reset through recovery.
Ok, thank you.
I will try that. Is there any option to re- install the tablet, if you connect it to your computer?
I've read about putting a firmware update on your microSD and then booting or something like that.
Yes, what u need to do is go to the Asus website n download the latest firmware to the root of microsd card. Make sure its the one that matches your prime n country. Also make sure its downloaded to root of memory card. Then put memory card in prime. Then go into recovery and make sure to wipe all data. Caches, dalvaik data. Then choose the option in recovery to flash the firmware. Make sure its pointed towards that file you installed in root of microsd card. It should then flash the revcovery. Make sure to read exact steps on Asus website for prime recovery flash to be sure. It should work after that.
Or you could hook your prime up to your computer. Make sure android adb n drivers installed to it. Then you can manually install the firmware again from Asus website into prime.
Good luck!
Thanks again!!! I will try this before draining. I will post if it worked.
That didn't work either

You need to rename the zip in the zip to the correct name (ep201_...update... -- see post)

Need Help ASAP - Blank Screen

I'm using [ROM]MIUI/CM7 Hybrid v3 multi-lang update 04/07/2012 and haven't had any issues whatsoever. Tonight I updated a bunch of Play Store apps that I've been putting off for a while and the only one that I could think of that could possibly have caused a problem is MiHome. Everything else was a pretty standard app/game.
Well my phone rebooted and now after it boots and shows the lock screen it goes blank a few seconds later. I tried unlocking it before it went blank and and I did see the home screen but it went blank again before the icons showed up. I can tell it's still on because there is a very slight glow from the screen if you look at it from an angle.
PLEASE HELP ME. I have no idea how to fix this and wouldn't even know where to begin!!
You've flashed a ROM before, you should know this already... Reboot into recovery, do a wipe data/cache (factory reset), reboot. If that doesn't work then wipe all and re-flash the ROM+gapps.
If you've been messing with system files, it's probably best to go straight to wipe all and re-flashing.
Re-install apps, re-configure the dozen or so apps you actually use on a normal day-to-day basis, and set a lovely wallpaper when you're done. 1 hour tops.
At the very least you'll be available for phone calls and text messages again within the next 10min.
Next time make sure to do a backup so you can restore a working copy of your data and cache whenever you need.
Unless you already know what the issue is, or how to fix it, sorry to say it, but the above steps are likely the quickest way to a resolution.
You're right I am very familiar with those steps but I can't reboot into recovery or any other method. My screen is blank and everything is unresponsive. The only way I can reboot is to pull the battery. I do remember there is a way to boot into recovery from a power off status but I can't remember how to do that.
BTW...thank you for your quick reply!

Hold down the volume-down key while booting up, when you see the Fastboot option appear, press the volume-down key repeatedly to cycle through the selections until you get to Android Recovery, then volume-up to select.
Try this:
- remove the battery
- press Volume Down and hold
- insert the battery (tricky part when holding Volume Down)
- wait till system menu appears
- release Volume Down
- press Volume Down again few times till "Recovery" shown.
- press Power
Thank you guys (or girls)! That's what I couldn't remember. Wiping now and will reinstall ROM.

[Q] Re-installing CWM Recovery (or getting to it)

Guys,
I'm rooted, with MDK base, and THOUGHT I had a working version of CWM (maybe 6.0.2.3?)
I was in the process of getting ready to try out a new ROM; going through the usual motions, formatting system, data, cache, and for good measure, I finished with a Wipe Data/Factory Reset (which I believe just does the same things again).
The phone suddenly rebooted and froze at the samsung custom screen. When I try to get back to recovery, I can't (hold down up-vol and power; blue message appears and disappears quickly in upper left, and back to Samsung custom lock screen.
I'm stuck. In the past, I always got into recovery by rebooting with ROM Manager, so I haven't really had to use the power-on/ vol up method (thus it may never have worked).
I can get into download mode. So I'm thinking - assuming - that the first thing I should try is to Odin CWM. But I'm admittedly confused, because all of the posts that relate to installing CWM seem to be in the context of the rooting process, and assume you have the ability to place certain files in rooted directories (like loki), which I obviously can't b/c I can't boot.
1) Is re-flashing CWM the right approach ? If so, is there a .TAR file somewhere with just CWM? I can't find an Odin-flashable .tar. EDIT: I found one, but it's designated for i9505. Same thing?
2) If that's not the right approach (or I'm just an idiot and don't know how to get into a working recovery), please advise
Thanks!
Turn the phone off.
Hold volume up and press the power button until it vibrates.
When it vibrates let go of the power and stay holding volume up until you see the recovery splash.
I've found that sometimes continuing to hold the power button will cancel the call for recovery boot. Not sure why.
You can always Odin if that doesn't work.
And I don't know of an Odin package for vzw recovery.

O - M - G !? Unbelievable. Thanks a BILLION! You just saved me a ton of time.
EDIT: Cr*p. Not out of the woods yet. Now, when choosing 'Install from SD Card' I'm getting 'E: Can't mount /sdcard/'
I'll post this issue in a separate Q.
