Hey guys. Awhile ago I posted saying when installing a UOT package my phone would freeze. Well I never fixed the issue and tonight I tried to install Eclipse v05. Same thing happened. After saying yes to install, it did open package, update package, and then it said installing update and froze. Nothing happened just like my UOT. So it seems Im having a problem when installing zips. Anyone have this issue, or know how I should fix it?
Uninstall and reinstall the recovery apk. Try that first.
EDIT: Actually, redownload it completely.

Redownload system recovery?
Yes. The method we use. It's an apk. Redownload it, uninstall your current one, and install the new one. Plug into wall charger, install it, reboot into recovery and try again.
Sent from my DROID X2 using xda premium
Make sure you're using this bootstrap as your recovery. Install the apk (click it once downloaded and it will give you option to install) open it from your app drawer and follow the directions. Make sure you are plugged into a wall charger.

Like I said in my PM man, if you don't know how to uninstall an application or install one, I really don't think you should be messing with custom ROMs.
Brick city coming your way. Then we'd have to teach you how to SBF. If you can't uninstall an app, SBFing will be like nuclear physics to you...
Not trying to be a jerk man, but maybe you should read through all of the stickies on here and get more acquainted with rooting, recovery, and flashing (by reading the stickies) before you try and do anything. That's what they are there for. I would learn more before you dive in. We all started somewhere, and I learned from reading pages and pages (for hours and hours) before I even posted anything. I would spend all night reading these forums, and I still don't even know half of most people on here.
Start reading boss...

Hey, I've had my Vibrant since the phone launched and have been using ODIN since that became a thing so I'm no noob to the whole process but today, I went back to stock and was not able to download CWM from the market like I usually do. "No problem, I'll just grab the .apk," I said. So I got the .apk from the official rom manager website and my vibrant refuses to install it. Any ideas why this is happening?
You have to be on 2.2 to download rom manager, dont ask me why.

That's frustrating. I've never had a problem with this before and trying to run the .apk prompts "Parse Error: There is a problem parsing the package"

You know what? When I get to my PC in the morning, I am going to put that in my signature. Seems like a daily question. I think you and I have answered it more times that I'd like to believe.
For sure, I havent used odin in months, really only need it if your in the weeds. Very cool alans full wipe in the dev. section is all you really need to do for a new flash. My one year with rom manager is coming up and I dont really need it anymore.
Can also try going to 4shared and finding an older version of Rom Manager

So I can use "Very cool alan's full wipe" and go from ANY rom to ANY other rom without using a computer or odin? As long as rom is already on sd card and everything goes as it should?
Unless of course something really goes haywire. Then odin is the fail safe?

Ok, so I was installing the ubthrottle script and it didn't go as well as planned. I have lost root access. Superuser.apk is still there so if I try to reroot the phone it fails at the end because the apk still exsists. I can't get to the BSR so I can't restore any of my backups. Obviously I will probably have yo sbf and start over. The only bad thing about all of that is the only internet access I have is via my phone and don't have an sbf locally so when I download it, it takes a huge ammount of data. Anyways if there is another solution let me know

I guess what I was trying to say was, before you flashed the mod onto your phone, boot into BSR, nandroid backup and then flash it. I'm assuming you had to boot into BSR to flash the mod? Not familiar with the mod you were talking about.
Anyways, once you SBFed back and rooted, you would have been able to reinstall SBR and then nandroid recover your previous installation. That's what I meant.
Anyways, glad to see you're back up and running.
Sorry for the misunderstanding on my part...and it was the script that motcher had posted to ubthrottle it was handled with a scripter not the bsr

since i am new.. long time lurker... i can't post in the dev forum so sorry this is in the wrong spot... but i just have 2 questions about flashing the cm7 rom....
1. It says to install the cm7 zip and then the google app zip and then the tether patch. Do I install all 3 in a row, or should I install cm7, reboot into recovery and then install the google zip, then reboot again and install the tether zip?
2. Just needed some clarification on this statement from the cm7 thread. "There was a problem with the "hijack" name. It is conflicting with the CM7 hijack. NEVER install the original BSR while in CM7DX2! This is a guaranteed way to boot loop your phone!" Does this mean not to run a nandroid back up or recover back to the stock rom while using the cm7 rom, or do I need to uninstall the BSR fron my phone, then reinstall the app... I'm confused.
Again sorry for the wrong forum and noob post, I'm really tired of this pos x2 and want a custon rom... I just can't afford to brick mh phone.

When you are going through the process of flashing CM7, you will be using the bootstrap recovery for the DX2. After you flash and get all set up, you will have to install the bootstrap that is in that thread for future flashing. He is just simply saying the old bootstrap wont work with flashing stuff after you install CM7.
And by the way, if you were planning on starting this as a new thread in the development section, you would have been in the wrong section. lol. The Q&A section would have worked just fine as well. Just for future reference.

If you want to apply the ota, grab ota rootkeeper from the market. Open the app, save root, then go to town updating. No need to unroot. Once updated, open the app again and hit restore root, as the ota will remove root.
That's pretty much it. As it stands that is the only way to get root on the latest ota so if for some reason you run into an issue and lose root, you will have to sbf back to 2.3.4.

For updating to the latest release you can't have changed any of the system files (ie frozen), and if you are rooted it's best to do a temp unroot (with a Voodoo backup of course) and make sure you boot into the Stock Recovery and attempt to flash that way. Should go without saying that you have to be on the stock rom.

Slim, i have ignored the OTA upgrade notification for 9 months. If its not broken, dont fix it theory. I had tweaked the phone with root only so that i could barnacle my tablet to the internet. Since i just saw how easily i recovered my phone back to my last nandroid backup, i figured i would try to upgrade and ROM this thing as it seems ive gotten it this far. Can someone link me to an easy to follow, step by step on "flashing stock recovery mode"? I can unfreeze programs with titanium backup and then unroot with ota rootkeeper. Just lrt me know how to stock recover, ie: phone plugged in? Unzipped file locations? External or internal sd card? I appreciate the help.
if update is failing
try unrooting with rootkeeper (keeps backup) like slimman suggested
if that doesn't work it's time to flash 2.3.4 sbf

a little surprised, that you made it 9 months and phone didn't try to install overnight after several notices
I know that has happened with other moto phones like D2 and D2G
Guys root has nothing to do with not being able to receive ota.
Nothing.
Lol
It sounds to me like you need to sbf back 2.3.4
Make sure your phone is fully charged.
Do you have usb debugging enabled?
Forget about guessing games, sbf back to 2.3.4.
Root your phone via Pete's. Do not use zerg.
Install recovery
Install superuser etc. If you feel the need but Pete's su. Works fine.
Install voodoo rootkeeper.
Make the back up.
Again with these phones root has NOTHING to do with receiving or not receiving ota.
If your ota is borked there's somthing else going on. You must have removed (bad idea) or froze something
Just sbf and follow my instructions again.
Hope that helps.
As I said in my guide, all updates were done with root, and I went from2.3.3>2.3.4>2.3.5
All rooted each time all retained root via rootkeeper.
Hope that helps

Regarding dragonzkiller's thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1912280 on [ROM][ALPHA][JB]CyanogenMod 10 Alpha 3 for the Droid X2. I've rooted two devices, the OG Droid and my X2 so I'm not unfamiliar with the process but some of the items I need to get CM 10 on my X2 I'm not sure where to find. In the article it's said I need the following:
-Install the BSR (patched if on an AOSP based ROM, unpatched if on BLUR)
-Reboot into the BSR
-NANDROID
Where can I find BSR and NANDROID? I have Rom Manager and Titanium Backup Pro on my X2 currently. Rom Manager never reboots into recovery for me for some reason and TB Pro does but I don't see an option to select NANDROID.
Any help would be really appreciated! I'm tried of running 2.3.5 all this time.
Dont use ROM manager for that kind of stuff. Best not to use it at all with the Droid X2 actually. The BSR IS the recovery for the X2. It can be found in the CM7 thread. And a nandroid is just a backup of your ROM that you make yourself within the recovery. Its not a file provided. Its a good idea to backup your ROM before installing stuff. That way you can restore it if things go wrong.

Good to know on Rom Manager, never has worked right.
I'll go look in the CM7 thread for the BSR, now that you say what it is I might actually have that somewhere after reading when it initially became available.
So if TB Pro can get me into recovery what else do so I can do a nandroid backup? I don't see an option to do that?

You are probably booting into the stock recovery, which doesnt have that option. You need to install the custom recovery (BSR) to do that.

Yes, get it from the CM7 thread. Just install it like you would install an app from your SD card. Its the same thing. Use a file browser app and navigate to the apk file then tap it. It will walk you through the rest. Once you have it installed you will have the app in your app drawer called system recovery or something like that. Open it and follow the directions to get into BSR. You have to have your phone plugged into an outlet though. Even though it says plug your phone into nothing. If your are on CM10, you need a file called hijack.zip and will have to place that in a certain location before using BSR. Check out the CM10 thread. The last few posts were talking about that. And the file was posted on the last page. I hope I'm not forgetting anything.

Are you running CM on your X2? Why is there so little available for the X2?
