Renamed to "Sprint_bootanimation.zip" and it worked for me. Try it

Works great here, love it!

If you used bootscoot and moved every to data/local then name bootanimation.zip If the animation is still running out of system/customize/resource then name it Sprint_bootanimation.zip. Make sure to rename original boot animation first if you want to go back to stock animation later.

Try renaming the downanimation.zip to Sprint_downanimation.zip and use root explorer to place it in system/customize/resource. Then change its permissions to Read, Write, Execute, Read, Read. That's what worked for me....

Honestly i havent tried any other downanimations yet but i will trying finding some now
I Had been searching for a way to change the animations and came across this very useful tool. I have used and it works really well you just have to remember to turn r/w in root explorer and it will name everything the way it needs to be and push it where it needs to go. No more placing on SD card and going back to RE, just save to correct location and run the file.

[Bootanimation] LSU Football

I have created a bootanimation of this video by LSU from the 1:01 minute mark until the 1:16 minute mark with a few changes made in there. It works as it should on the computer with this bootanimation previewer.
If anyone can try it out and let me know if it works for them that would be awesome. Or If anyone can take a look and tell me if I did something wrong that would be great too.
The file is roughly about 11MB
Thanks!
Also make sure you do nandroid just in case. Although if it doesn't work you just will see a blank screen when it boots up.
Installation should work as follows:
Root Explorer method:
1. Rename your boot animation to bootanimation
2. Put it on your SD card
3. Open Root Explorer and copy bootanimation.zip to /system/media. This will replace the existing boot animation
4. Reboot your phone
ADB method:
1. Make sure you have downloaded android sdk
2. Put android sdk in C:\
3. Set the directory of command prompt to C:\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools. Click here for a video tutorial.
4. Rename your boot animation to bootanimation and put it in C:\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools
5. Open cmd
6. Type in order:
-adb remount
-adb push bootanimation.zip /system/media/bootanimation.zip
-adb reboot
ok you had a few problems.
1) you had the desc files named Part 1 and it should be Part1(no space)=fixed
2)you needed to remove the boarder from the images=fixed
3)i resized the images and turned the last 3 in jpegs and in one copy turned all images 180 degrees(landscape) which in turn made the whole file smaller(your 10.92mb --mine 6.58mb
4)i made them flashable and added the LSU fight song(remix)
not trying to take over your bootanimations just easier to fix and then let you see the changes.
I greatly appreciate it. Very new at it, and just trying to see what I can do. Thanks again!
no problem.
just rip one open to see the changes i made to them and you can use one as a template to help on your next one.

Is there any way to port this to the Galaxy Nexus. I tried the zip but it did not work. If it matters I'm running AOKP 20.
Never mind. Figured out myself. Just used working zip and put your boot animation in it.
I'll see what I can do. I'm sure it's just a resizing issue along with the proper paths. The zip is for the sense paths not AOSP paths.
If not I'm sure dased can assist.

bootanimation

Just saw this...nexus prime boot animation. Its in a flashable zip, but I tried & it didn't work so I extracted the bootanimation.zip & placed it in the system/media folder. I got it to work after that. Looks cool. Ill try to provide a dropbox link with the zip if I can...
http://www.droid-life.com/2011/10/08/download-nexus-prime-boot-animation/
Edit: here's the zip I extracted http://db.tt/RiwoxsLN
Installed it earlier as well
You guys are better then me. I downloaded it and it wouldn't flash...of course, so I put it in the folder you said and I still get the eclipse boot. Any ideas?

Check the data\local\
Sometimes bootanimations are put there.
I had a problem with bootanimations and no matter what I did, I still got a different one, but when I SBF to 2.3.4, it worked again. so check data\local and if that doesn't work, maybe a SBF will.

Did you use the zip I posted in the link above? You have to place the zip in system/media. Rename the old bootanimation to bootanimation.zip.bak so you can use later if you choose. also make sure your change the permissions to r-w-r-r
OK good I am new to this I got the zip moved and found where the permissions are but the check mark dont make sense as to what u are saying

Just saw ur edit...thought it was a signature and skipped it lol
I'm having issues copying the zip to system/media.
It says it is read-only.
I clicked on Mount R/W in the Media Folder.
Am I changing the permission on the Media folder?
Keeps telling me the file system is read only.
Can someone offer a bit more instructions? THX

Are ya using root explorer?
Try just mounting /system as r/w and media will be included.
I wouldn't go messing wit permission on system folder manual checking boxes. Only time I did that I had to sbf lol...but I was changing /system permission using checkboxes
Yes, root explorer and I did touch the Mount R/w on System...still says you can't paste here because the file system is read only. I'm on Eclipse 1.1

Did u try reboot and start again?
It SHOULD allow u to mount system r/w
That is if u are rooted. Lol
All u should have to do to be able to do stuff to /system files is touch the gray button on top that says Mount r/w
it should change.to saying " mount r/o" when ur system is editable.
Does it gave DIRECTLY to the left of that gray button "r/w" after the total memory used/available?
Oh...I'm awake now.
It works when the button displays Mount R/O.
I read it as that meant it was currently set to Read/Only.
Not that was to toggle it to R/O.
THANKS MAN
I thought that is what was happening
Believe me I've been there...that's why I asked those questions like that lol ..I was hoping u didn't take it as me thinking u were dumb lol...just been there done that before...red bull always seems to help me in a situation like that Haha...
Yay another thanks for me? Im trying to get 100 thanked posts before I reach 850 total posts. I like helping fellow x2ers...I pretend to know more than I do tho haha...I just read alot.

[HOW TO] Enable Custom Boot Animation on Samsung

This post was made by prathyush.creed on the samsung fit page of xda
It is working well on stock roms..I tried it on ddkk1 and it worked well..But when i tried on my Blazing Hatred Rom it dint work..SO Use on STOCK ROMS:
I dunno if many of u already know this, but Im justing posting here:
Attach two files Namely :
1.Samsungani
2.Bootanimation
Download
http://www.mediafire.com/?aa52s74oaju1n9s
Copy both the files to /system/bin and Set the Appropriate Permissions .
Then Copy Your Bootanimation.zip to /system/media.
To get appropriate permission do this:
Use rootexplorer, before copying these to files navigate to /syste/bin and note down the Permissions Of both files .then copy the two files and give them the appropriate permission.
I tried this bootanime:
http://www.mediafire.com/?8ccnbde6v2utm6u
Rename that 240X320.zip to bootanimation.zip and paste to system/media using root explorer

answer :
in build.prop debug.sf.nobootanimation = 1 or sth.
wow thanks. i was so tired of seeing the boring Samsung boot up screen.
If u want simple way use uot kitchen and pick ur boot animation and resolution too
Ignore another tab
Go to summary visit the pick up page and most important remmember ur pick up number
If succed u will have to download the package
And then estract it pick the boot animation on system/media and renam the zip file as bootanimation.zip
Send to ur sd card
And then open root explorer search the bootanimation.zip on your sdcard and move it to system/media just overwrite the old one,and dont firget to mount and remount ur system hehe
Reboot ur phone and enjoy ur new boot animation screen
But use at ur own risk ok
:rolleyes
But ive been try to place and replace the bootanimation and guess what.... I love my new custom boot animation

i found a easy way to put custom bootanimation.zip on phone..
first download or get custom bootanimation u want in uotkitchen..
then get the sanim.zip on system/media on uot------.zip
rename it to bootanimation.zip..put the file on root of sd card.
next go to root explorer press the upper right to become read/write..
go to sd card and copy bootanimation.zip
copy it on data/local/"here"..
(im not responsible if u brick ur phone so do a nandroid backup first and it works smoothly with me)
Just copy it to system/media
Not data/local

i did that on my phone and it works.. i discovered it on root tool...when u download bootanimation in root tool and apply it the directory is in data/local ..then i tried to put the bootanimation from uot kitchen there and it works...
and i have the same problem with Sharmaskss when i tried to put bootanimation in system/media and fix it when i tried my method
Here's how I did it:
1. I pushed a bootanimation.zip into /system/media, and changed permissions to this file into rw-.r--.r--. Rebooted the phone and it didn't work.
2. I then pushed the bootanimation and samsungani binaries provided by the OP to the /system/bin folder and changed their permissions to rwx.r-x.r-x. Rebooted the phone and it worked! However, there is no sound. Oh, well, at least it worked.

[solved]boot animation problem

hi everyone .....today I wanted to change my bootanimation so went to the system/media to find stock bootamimation to my surprise there was no file named bootamimation.zip .......I'm running ics passion with kiss kernel v8.2 ....I'm dont have any problem rebooting .....plz help me out .
Not sure why it is not there but if you want to change your boot animation you can drop the new one in /data/local and it will show up on your next boot, leaving you original (which should be in but isn't for some reason) in /system/media.
Just drop the new one here /data/local and set your permissions and you will be good to go.
thanx for ur reply ....is it safe to do in this way? .......if so then how can I get back my stock bootamimation ?

I'm running ICZen, which is based on AOKP and had discovered the same thing. However if you find a bootanimation.zip that you like, download it and place it in system/media. Although there is no stock boot animation there, after a reboot the new boot animation should appear. For some reason, ICS roms store the boot animation away in another location. Thus, just like Woods method, the custom boot animation you install will not overwrite the stock one. Just delete (or move it [to a new directory like your SD card]) the custom boot animation you installed and bam! You'll have the stock one back.

Yes it is safe to do it that way. You can inter-changed bootanimations at will when you put them in /data/local. In fact sometimes, I will drop one in my wife's phone's /data/local just to mess with her. She is pretty savvy, so it doesn't take long for her to figure it our and go in there and delete it.
That is the beauty of dropping it in /data/local, it does nothing to your stock one. If you don't like the one you put in /data/local, then just deleted it or move it on your SD card for later use and your oringinal BA is still in tact.

Not sure if dropping it in /system/media is a good thing b/c it might throw an error at some point either on bootup or when you decide that you want to change it down the road. I have looked over the Zen releases and never found where it was kept, but then again, I always have dropped mine in /data/local.
Double post.

Yes, that's correct. Or you can also just move it to your SD card and that will also work. As long as you remove the custom boot animation from the system/media directory it will return to the stock boot.
