NO Google services on Google phone!!! - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I bought this Samsung Galaxy S2 in China, and brought it back to America. Finding out that even I downloaded google market, I still cannot use it. It says "you must add an account to the device to continue. Do you want to add one?" And then I click OK, the app exits.
When I go to Accounts&Syncs, there is no such thing called Gmail!!! The only Email service Available is Microsoft Exchange Service. Samsung just removed or hide Google service to sell this device in China. If I cannot get it back, what is the point to use Android??? I online chated with samsung USA Support, and they refused to respond any question or concern about phones that are not for sell in USA. Any idea???Thanks, everybody.
OR
Since I am with ATT, do you think this Original GS2 will compatible with a ATT version ROM since all american versions have four touch keys.

So what happens when you add account.

you need a gmail account to use google services so yes.

A Google Apps account will work also.

I cant add one on this phone.

Basically, your domain is powered by Google Apps like Gmail, Calendar, Chat etc:
http://mail.yqed.com/
I use mines with Google 2-step verification and Google Authenticator app installed on my Galaxy phone. Virtually unhackable, even if you know my password you will need the Authenticator code generated on my phone to access the account.

China phone is it a real SGS2 or the China clone ???
Or does real China SGS2 not have Google settings as Google is restricted in China .
.Made by Samsung ???

800 USD worth of Samsung GS2, it is real. I assume I am not new to android phone or samsung phone(I had a Samsung Captivate= Samsung GS first generation).

flash a stock EU rom

If I have to flash a rom, I want a rom that is not carrier involved, unless its ATT. Which country do you think I should go it a shot?

Due to communism, the google bits of the sgs2 may have been removed, I am not saying that this is definitely the case with you, but you should try to find out
Intratech sort of mentioned the issue here HERE and when I asked how to identify a Chinese device he answered in this post
So you need to check the firmware version on your phone by inputting *#1234# in the dial pad

Don't flash EU/US roms on a Chinese phone. It won't work and it will brick your phone (until you flash something else over it). So far, the only solution I've found for my Chinese SGS2 is flashing this modded Chinese ROM called Ownhere.
http://bbs.gfan.com/android-2099143-1-1.html
It will enable the market, google services etc. Even allows Navigation in countries where there is none! In fact, this is a great mod which does pretty much all I want. The only thing is the media hub: it still contains Chinese services. But do you really use it?

Mine is
Baseband version: I9100ZCKH2
Build number: GINGERBREAD.ZCKH2
But it is a chinese version for sure, I checked the pre-set sale destination, it is either CHN or CHZ, I switched from CHN to CHZ myself which does not help.

damn, hate Samsung, cant they just keep the code and block google service by carrier?

No MarketPlace Icon

Hi All,
Currently working in China so bought this for the misses and the first problem is
1) the stock browser does not seem to recognise flash 10.3 so I most of the websites she uses are useless.
2)No market place icon to download Dolphin Hd etc
3)No Gmail Icon or Samsung Account/ Gmail Account options when try to setup the accounts
4)Tried to create an account in Gmail for her using laptop but when try to download an app from interent it says no devices associated with the account and you need to access the MarketPlace using the device first.
5)haha, downloaded the marketplace.apk and installed it on the app, however just says i need to setup an account before I can use it, 8-( however the Samsung Account is setup and using the Gmail Email Address (all be it not an actual gmail.com address)
Please anybody, can you help before this thing goes through the window, the shop has refused to allow me to return it so after pointless argusing in English to somebody who does not understand and my misses also trying in chinese we are left with it, any ideas how to resolve the above?
Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeease.....
I'm also getting messages when using the internet saying something about WebIM and Windows Media Player needed to be installed, when click ok, nothing happens ?
Doh !
Resolved the Flash issue with the stock browser, very simple answer, was just in the settings to always allow plugins...
But still need to resolve the Market Place issue and the Windows Media Player Plugin for the browser, anybody any ideas please ?
Nobody got any help ?
入手这个以后说实话我很纠结。。。
什么是真理? . . . .
I am also in the (Chinese) market for a Galaxy Tab 10.1 (Wifi), since it is way cheaper in China than back home in Germany, plus it is actually being sold here
I've bought an Android device in China before and it also lacked the Google apps as well as Facebook etc. And the Market app, most importantly. On that device I just downloaded another, non-Chinese firmware, installed it and it worked like charm.
Is that also possible with the Tab? Because I would like to get rid of the castrated Chinese firmware. If yes, which firmware should I use - and how high is the risk of bricking the device?
Thanks in advance
Mucho
I had thought of putting the Europe Firmware on it, but as its for my wife I aso need it to have Chinese Character Support, My Galaxy S2 mobile has the XX firmware on it, but I cannot switch this into Chinese Language so was worried the Galaxy Tab would be the same....
So that means no Chinese input or no character display at all? Because for the input you just install another IME and it should be good to go...
Anyone else any ideas about the possibility of slapping a European firmware on it?

[Q] how to recovery the GMS of Chinese Xperia RAY

As you know, all the google mobile service are disabled in China.
I have a new Xperia Ray recently, and find no GMS at all - after checking the system/app and find nothing related to google ( just check out , without root and unlock).
by the means of direct installing of some google APKS, I come back to use the gmail, Calendar, contact, mpas and search properly but still can not use the market.
I can install the vending.apk and open the market but can not download - there is always an unexpected corrupt of " com.android.vending " once I try to download.
how could I fully use the market properly? I don't want to root or unlock....
thanks & regards.
if you live in china, you wont get much out of google, the market works in conjunction with the usim and it's location, and many links whether it's from the market or an internet will come out dead.
I only found this out when i used both a china usim and a hong kong usim, the china usim wont let me access many sites and download apps, whiles the hong kong usim will, both my card have data disabled, and all i use is wifi to download.
Also some apps wont show up with the china sim, you can also access the android market on the PC, and you will find many apps will be disabled and states not available for download with china sim, whiles if using a hong kong sim, the download is available.
there is a way to use the market, but i cannot be sure, try to get hold of a prepayed hong kong sim, and have all data disabled in the phone, then download using wifi.
with a prepayed hong kong usim, if you dont use it HKD2 will be deducted every month, but you must use it at least once in a while otherwise the usim will be disabled.
here are 2 games that wont show up in android market (phone/PC) if using a china usim
tapfish
coins vs zombies
i will be going to china next week, so i can test my hong kong usim there, and see if it lets me download using wifi.
i will report back.

I understand, he also stated to use the market place, which wont work properly, and cannot download apps.
Thanks to all of above
you are right I can not download any apps from google market.
what's different between the ROM issued in different regions ? I suppose some codes in the rom of Chinese version to identify the USIM or something.
why someone can download apps properly using a hongkong version RAY with a Chinese USIM ??
confusing..............
have you logged into google, even in china, they shouldn't block all download, only some.

sure, I can log into the google market, also could view but download.
there is always the same " com.android.vending closed unexpectedly"
I suspect whether SE China add some code in the ROM or do something in the ROM. So does Google.

i think the rom is the same worldwide, but china has altered the rom for china use only, it seems like some venders are blocked.
your best bet is to side load apps, through the memory card.

Samsung Galaxy S 2 Unlocked

I just ordered an unlocked Galaxy SII from Amazon. I want to use this as just a Wi-Fi Android device, would i be able to do this with access to all android features (marketplace apps). Or do i need a SIM card just to use the device? Thanks!
If your using it as a wifi only then no you dont need to unlock it and the market dosnt require a sim, why would you want to do this though
I know its weird, but i have the money and i want something to replace my slow Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0 and i felll in love with the S II at the store. I want to use it as a Wi-Fi only device for now because i don't use my phone very much at all and i don't want to pay for data right now.
Some apps like Whatsapp, Viber and other communication apps require simcard as ID. But you wont need any just for browsing internet, email, facebook etc. Android market doesnt require sim card too
Thanks a lot man! I was just making sure it would work like my Wi-Fi only Galaxy Player did. Thanks so much! I get it tomorrow, any ROM suggestions or should i wait till the official 4.0 update in march?
I would not recomend to use ICS roms yet if you want stable.
If you want just try... here is overview
www dot galaxys 2 roms dot com
I found good ones myself: "AndyX ROM", "Pure ICS".

[Q] How to root GNote 2 N7108 chinese version?

So... recently i've been given a GNote N7108 (chinese version), but the phone doesn't has any google service, thus, i couldn't sign in my Google account and therefore no playstore, no contact sync, no anything...
Can anyone tell me how to root it and install Google service or install custom rom as long as i can use it like other international phone?
i'd be grateful if anyone could help me thz in advance.
are you sure it isnt a clone, ive seen alot of good clones of the galaxy line. I only ask because samsung would never leave out google, not even on their lq phones. Does it actually say "galaxy note" on the back cover and "samsung" at the top of the screen?

In regards to your first point; You can view the frequencies that are being used by the phone online (I usually use GSM arena or just a google search) and then compare them with your countries bands (also a quick google away). I am Australian and searched on my carriers website and they had a map showing where their coverage was in terms of each band. So I was able to work out that getting the phone would be fine for me for my daily life but when I leave that and go on a day trip or something I can sometimes get 1 bars in some places. (This is regarding my last phone by the way (mate 8))

that's what I used to do.. but I'm too lazy for that now - I just use kimovil
hmm, strangely I can't find the chinese version there.. it does have the chinese mate x 20 though
basically there is no limitation of software , including all the services of Google, Only thing that can not work is Google Maps Timeline, dont know why , it just cant work on the chinese version of phone
but there is a lot of limitation of software on the global version, huawei messaging app, huawei travel assitance, huawei voice assistant, etc
,
Google feed might not be available too.
My worry would be getting a faulty "green" screen and would need to return it, unless the manufacturer honours the warranty regardless where purchased? I had to exchange mine due to faulty lg screen, but it was an over the counter exchange by 3 UK, whom I bought it from. Luckily got a boe screen and it's fine.
google works fine with my chinese m20p..only issue was no no group message from system app, calendar not linking with system app.
HW Chinese model has some notifications delay problem but it get OS update much earlier/faster than international version and call recording feature

you can install google play store from the huawei store included on the phone - at least some people said that, as well I tried to find it on a phone in the huawei (physical) store (in china) and it had play available for install within the huawei app store. I have no idea about google services, I'm sure someone in this thread must have written about it.

Does "OK google" work well with your chinese m20pro? I also have a chinese one , tried but cannot enable google assistant voice match, it just greyed out.
I have the Mate 20 Pro Chinese Version, and Wifi calling for example is not included there.
