Root for DDKQ5
Copy the zip to the sdcard
Get into recovery by (Power button + Menu KEY)
Install the ZIP: Root_for_DDKQ5.zip
that's it now you are a super user

@ er.davinder: I get an error saying error in sdcard/root_for_ddkq5, status 7, and then the installation gets aborted.
and i do not want to deodex my phone etc. any other solutions?

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1252243
first mount system and sd card then install deodex....

He said he doesn't want to deodex... OP have you tried the upd_1 zip method?

i read (from a reliable source, that knows what he's doing) that upd_1.zip does work on this firmware version, but has some problems - during high loads the phone crashes.
so i did not try it out.

upd_1.zip works fine with ddkq5
i updated my ace on ddkq5 and it works great ...
i didnt come here every day then if u wanna ask me something pm me [email protected]

This method works for stock ROM. Verified from personal experience. Am on XXKPO though.
In fact this is so much easier than doing through Superoneclick

All on phone modding? (Root/roms/etc.)

Is there a way to currently root your sgs2 all from your phone? (Without a PC)
For example; Rooting +CWM>install kernel+ new rom/baseband
phone for starting base kk6/2.3.6
Just wondering. I wanted to make a powerpoint about how to root android phones, but I think each phone is so specific that a general method may not be applicable?
Also that most phones need to be flashed via PC for starters? (yes/no?)
I figured generally speaking:
1: Look for your phones model number, android version and baseband,
2: download and flash correct rom (renaming the file if necesary)
3: with phone rooted install ??? (rom/kernel/new bb/cwm or whatever)
I don't know if I can do this as a "general" powerpoint for android, but I can do it specifically for SGS2; however, not everyone has an SGS2
ideas?
uh download rom manager to install cmw and just flash a rooted rom ?
all downloaded from your phone ....
I'm 99% sure that cmw needs a rooted phone to even install from rom manager but then again it actually might not ..

Please read the OP. How is rom manager working with ICS relevant to this if he's starting from KK6 GB?
Maybe mobile Odin can work but idk if you can use that without root already on the phone. I had to root mind from download mode using a pc with Odin.
Seems like a cool idea to explore.

When I use rom manager to nandroid it has always frozen upon turning off. Many other serious fails too. I only use it to rename my backups done from recovery mode. Otherwise it's just wasting space on my phone

Mobile Odin requires root.
AFAIK there's no current way to root an SGS2 without a PC. I found SuperOneClick to work just fine, doesn't require you to flash using Odin, but it does take some patience and a few tries, and a PC of course.
I could be wrong of course, please correct me if I am.
I read you can run android sdk/adb from usb stick. Just need the "final" folders installed. Any tips?
There's a method to root + install new kernel from adb cmds

I never do backups unless fresh power off then booting recovery , no rom manager ..
i just was suggesting possibly with it installed cwm can install without a pc.
the only caveat was if root access required to install it as I don't remember and can't think of any way rooting is possible without a pc EXCEPT installing a pre-rooted rom
*which is not possible on sgs2 with standard sammy recovery correct

didn't know figured same as skyrocket not being listed one could simply use the t-mobile galaxy s2 listing , so have you ever even tried to do so on a sgs2 pirateghost ..
what about mobile ODIN lite 2.3 + the add-on for i777 ?

uhhhh....
COMPLETELY different phones, COMPLETELY different hardware. NO....you cannot use rom manager for the i777 unless you are working solely with AOSP builds....in which case you would ALREADY have a CWM kernel
this has been the case on all samsung galaxy s line except the skyrocket/t989. there is no doubt that it simply DOESNT work from stock. its not speculation, its fact.
things are different over here dude. the i777 is pretty much nothing like the i727 aside from sharing a name and touchwiz....

all I suggested was he might want to try to odin lite because of it's root kernel feature and simply asked pirate did he actually try it instead of just telling it how it is oh so known , but apparently not by personal experience ....

What you are asking for (root via zergRush on ICS) is not possible, as the exploit that zergRush uses to obtain root was patched with one of the 2.3.6 (GB) versions; it is unknown which one, though.
Doesn't work with ICS as per this post (from the Zergrush thread).
You'll need to use another method to root.
Edit - The man whose post I linked to beat me to it ;-)

Try some Custom Kernel like Siyah. Just flash it with Odin. Your Rom will remain unchanged. This is the easiest method!

Follow the directions, dude. Install cwm first. Then, when cwm recovery comes up, install the other zip.
Edit to add: forgot to mention. Do NOT reboot in between the steps. You have to be in CWM recovery to install the su/busybox zip. You won't be able to install it otherwise. (as it appears you discovered)

Galaxy Ace Style sm-s765c Stock recovery sucks
Anyone know what my Galaxy Ace Style sm-s765c compares to, I think it's close to the s3 mini except that it has 512MB ram and the s3 mini has a gig I think.
This stock recovery doesn't even have an option to make a backup, what the hell were they thinking. What in the heck would you do if something happpend with your stock os and you needed to restore it or something like that.
I would sure like some help with this, to understand why I just can't throw a recovery that was close to my system onto mine, How bad could it be would it really screw up the booting process? They all boot the same don't they? I would think it would be safe just as long as it's the same os version right?

would this mean anything? how would you go about disabling write protection?
Something else I was wondering the file system on my Galaxy Ace Style has an extsdcard and an sdcard, they have different contents in both,
Which one is my actuall sdcard? I think it's the extsdcard but I'm not sure.
Edit: Never mind I got it now.

[Q] deleted ALL apk files in \system\apps folder on samsung galaxy core duos gt-i8262

so, I'm using a galaxy core duos korean clone(a.k.a. style duos) and my friend was just exploring my phone for my music and apps when he suddenly told me that he "accidentally" deleted all the files on the \system\app folder. when my phone's battery ran out, i charged it and booted it. at first, it seems that everything is ok because you see the charging screen when plugged. but, when i booted it, the phone was stuck at the boot animation. we decided to reset the phone through the recovery mode(i only have a stock recovery) as we didn't have any choice, but nothing happened. it doesn't have a download mode given the fact that it's just a clone. yes, my phone was rooted before he deleted the files and i have a backup of all the system apks on my computer which I just remembered when the problem occured. can some/anyone help to fix my phone? please, I'll be really grateful to anyone who will post a fix for my problem.

I know it's kitkat, but i want to know if you were running touchwiz or stock AOSP.
I need to know that so i can supply you with the right apps .
EDIT: Because it's a clone, it depends on framework. It may or it may not work

(EDITED) hehe sorry.but the one from the s4(the second link) looks a bit the same as the one on my phone. an I think i'm still running on stock for i don't remember installing/flashing custom roms. i'll try any method everyone will suggest. and will be grateful whether it may or it may not work. i just want the phone to be fixed for i'm fine using the phone even it's jut a clone. it works pretty nice even with some minor flaws.

Do you have busybox installed ? I don't know the partition numbers for your device, so i need busybox to mount /system.
I am currently working on a flashable zip for you to install via recovery.
---------- Post added at 03:18 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:08 PM ----------
Here are 2 zips :
Zip1 : http://www.girlshare.ro/33841112.8 - Busybox only
Zip2 : http://www.girlshare.ro/33841118.3 - Alternative method.
Try flashing them and tell me if it works or not.
If these don't work, you might want to try pushing each file via adb when in recovery mode.
EDIT 2: If you know anyone with the same phone, ask him to give you a backup with his system. It would be the best way to get yours back working.

No, it's a library to add missing functions that are available on linux but removed in Android.
It's pretty useful to have it for many reasons.
Read my previous post again, i have updated it with some zips. Try flash 2nd one.
I will provide you with a flashable zip with busybox, wait a sec..
EDIT : http://www.girlshare.ro/33841142.5 <--- FLASH this first, then flash first Zip1 from my prev post.

UPDATE: i tried to flash the first one and here's what it says: "E:failed to verify whole-file signature" "e: signature verification failed" "installation aborted"
both didn't work. thanks anyways.

You need a custom recovery before you can flash that.
