Where r u downloading the roms? Are u downloading them right to ur phone or on ur computer first?
Sent from my BLACKAO5P using XDA App

From my phone sporty, is that bad? My USB cord acts up in my lab top which sucks! I have a SD card reader, should i try thatway with the whole copy& paste thing!?
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App

Did u update clockwork to the 5.0.2.1 i updated and its fixed
Sent from my BLACKAO5P using XDA App

Also...when u download to the phone it download to the download folder....make sure u dont have 2 folders that says download. If u do its in the one with the lower case d not upper case D
Sent from my BLACKAO5P using XDA App

I did, the thing went from orange to neon green lol like really ,50 .20 or 21 in the clockwork then i did a back up current Rom and nothing happen cuz i wanted to flash the asop shift Rom and my phone went nuts! Couldn't get into recovery for a min, the htc screen would boot up and just stay there until another battery pull so am I still doing something wrong.....
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App

Can u get in to recovery with phone off press the power button and volume down and hold them down?
Sent from my BLACKAO5P using XDA App

Yeah i can but i have thebattery out first
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App

And as of now I'm in a older recovery v 30.24 and the last restorei can always go to is Sep 4th
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App

Go in to recovery that way...and from there u can backup the rom there...once there go to advance then to backup and restore then backup
Sent from my BLACKAO5P using XDA App

Ok will do so what's the best way to flash a Rom straight to phone or lab top to SD card and should you really wipe cache 3 times ? Wipe dalvick 4 times , format/system when it comes flashing a zip
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App

And do a data factory wipe?
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App

*Laptop (sorry I had to)
When flashing a new ROM:
1. Wipe data/factory reset
2. Wipe cache
3. Under advanced:
wipe dalvik cache
4. under mounts and storage: format /system
For any mods or kernels and such follow the directions from where it was posted.
I have never done multiple wipes of any of those I listed just once each. To be on the safe side if the ROMS creator says to I would follow their directions.
Oh and when you download a ROM on your phone I would recommend only doing it with WiFi. It just ensures a more stable connection I feel like. No matter how you download it tho check the MD5 sum. Android file verification is a great free app to do it right on your phone. Winmd5summer is a good free one for Windows.

Thanks JBO 1018 REALLY!!!!! I NEEDED that break down. Ok when downloading to phone i will use my mifi 4g and my USB phone won't work in my lab top sometimes it won't read, so can i use my sd card reader to put the rom on the sd card that way?
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App

And jbo 1018I did that with the asop shift Rom everything went fine but i only had camera and music working for like a min before it said mount SD. Card, that drives me nuts cuz i really like that rom
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App

My bad I meant to say that the camera and mmusic did not work the rom was running smooth except those two app, does having a new radio work? Cuz 1.39 605 radio I feel is out dated or just don't work with these new Rom s

Every time I flash bionix-v all my phone does is hard reset. Now I'm sure its my fault. So I'm asking for help to find where that fault is. I'm following team whiskeys install instructions. But what I'm getting is sd card can't be opened or file doesn't exist. I've tried placing the file in numerous locations. But no luck. So at this point I'm begging for help! Please.

your putting it on the internal sd right??
Yes, in the dl folder on the internal card
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
no ...you dont put it in a folder.. u just place it on the root of internal sd
say if you use the stock files app ..when you open that you should be able to see your .zip there without going to any files
Oh dang! Thanks let me give that a try.

Be careful if this is your first Voodoo flash....it comes with it enabled. If you go back to a version without voodoo make sure you go into CWM (red recovery) and go to advanced and voodoo lagfix and disable it first.
Oh and let it convert and reboot completely on its own when installing..you will hear Linda talking..
Same damn thing...no joy.
No lagfix nothin just odin back to jfd...wanted a clean slate for bionix

Well hell....maybe a bad download of bionix...
Ya know I didn't think that was possible BUT after the bionix-v -tw- voodoo.zip it says (bad) does that mean its a bad dl and I should start over?

Yea..just redownload bionix and try

FYI it can be in a folder...I flashed everything like this from day 1. You should use md5 checksums to verify your download when they are provided though. It will verify bad downloads that could potentially hard brick your phone.

ROM using all my phone space?

As a new person to root I have another question that I need help with. After rooting my EVO I somehow did a factory reset and wiped all data from my phone. That gives me around 400mb. After flashing synergy rom and adding a apps I noticed my internal phone storage was 75mb remaining out of 250mb. I have no where near the amount of apps I had before with less space. So my question is, does the ROM file take up internal phone space once flashed? Or am I doing something wrong? Thanks a lot for your help.

On sense ROMs, more files are made in the /data partition, due to the greater amount of lib files and other things created by Sense. When you install one app it makes data in /data/data and /data/dalvik , and sense has many apps so the space used goes straight to hell in a basket. But use a Vanilla Rom, and space should go down a bit...Use disk analyses to see what's using the space.

Thanks ill try that. I'll start looking for a vanilla ROM. Any particular one to use with 2.3? I just rooted with the revolutionary. Thanks again.

I don't actually know which ROMs are avail for Evo, maybe you can use MIUI/CM7 or the most popular AOSP? If you choose to use Sense, just remove some apps from the /system partition.
along with resetting the phone to "factory defaults", did you wipe cache and dalvik cache 3 times? I used CWM the other day on my phone to install a ROM and forgot to wipe cache also... kept getting "device is low on memory" errors. Wiped cache and dalvik 3 times, installed the ROM again, everything worked perfectly.
Why 3 times? Extreme redundance LOL. Once is enough. Wiped means its wiped doing it two more times is mildly retarded.

I did wipe them before installing the Rom, yes. I just tried to make a backup last night to try some new things and my backup keeps failing now.

Could be bad blocks on the MTD/Nand chip? If the block are bad then the ROM might not be restore-able anymore. or the backup could be bad, try another ROM instead.
My SD card was full so that's why the backups failed. I had no idea the files were so big. Now still in search for another Rom. No luck with finding the vanilla Rom.

Does Gtalk also force close? If so, go to the q AND a thread and download the .zip in the link the "Notices" section. Flash it in ClockworkMod, not ROM Manager, just as you would flash a ROM. Reboot, give it 2 tries and it should work fine... Assuming the problem is what I think it is.

Default App Choices not sticking

OK guys i.'m tying to track down the file or files responsible for saving the programs I choose for my default apps. I am having my settings only stick for around ten minutes. After that time I have to choose my default app if multiple choices exist again.
I have a working theory that my permissions on said file or files are borked and I need to get them setup right again. I think they are not being written to the "save" fle and when the program chosen is killed my choice is killed with it.
I have tried using fix permissions in my recovery to no avail.
I am on MeanRom 2.6 ICS I am s-off with full root access.
Could someone tell me the file or files I should check and what the permissions should be when I look at them?
Thanks for any help,
Adan

I would try a full wipe (system, data, cache, dalvik-cache, sd-ext, boot) and then flash the ROM again. Some files might have gotten messed up during the flash so it's always best to start with a clean slate

how to uninstall crom for a new one

i tried looking on how to uninstall my crom but only found how to do it for install of stock roms
im currently running Jelly Beans for the Verizon Galaxy S3 and im wanting something that actually UPDATES XD
so im currently downloading CM11, but i dont remember how to uninstall my rom
would i need to just factory reset and wipe the 3 caches or just dalvic?
sorry for noob post
Crom? Guessing a spelling error
I assume you have a custom recovery like clockwork? If so this should be your steps
Download cm11 + gapps and put on root of sdcard (not in any folders)
Boot to recovery
Make a nandroid backup
Wipe all you can
Flash ROM
Flash gapps
Reboot
Profit

haven't done it yet. got butterflies of screwing my phone up...again
OF COURSE. i go to add CM 11 and i get an error 7 even though im using the Verizon S3 rom file. and now i cant mount my SD card so im scared to turn my phone off
May have been a bad download, check the md5sum
Also make sure you have the newest recovery as KitKat changed a few things
Or simply try a jelly bean rom

im using twrp 2.4.3.0 but i have no way connecting my sd card now. its not working within recovery and my old phone isnt connecting either
best part is i made a nandroid, but cant restore because i JUST lost the sd card
In the file manager from twrp can you see your SD or does it refuse to mount?
You can always go to advanced settings and use adb sideload to install
adb sideload nameofrom.zip
adb sideload gapps.zip

*edit* and i dont have my backup on the sd card, just my pc. and icant access it .... so im without a phone until i get a sd card reader
ok i got cyanogenmod 10.2 to work but not something is weird with my LED notification, its not longer blue, its a mix of colors but basically its white, how do i change it back> i dont see anything in the settings
Well I believe you need twrp 2.6.x for SELinux support so no KitKat Roms for now, but you should be happy with 10.2
As for your led question I don't have your phone nor have I used a cm ROM in a long time so I can't answer for sure if there is a setting. But I would assume there is. If you can't find it there are apps in the market that may help, back when I believe I used one called lightflow or something on an old phone, try that or ask in the ROM specific thread as a user there would know better than I
Glad all is working
