I believe if you want to flash Alien rom, you must unlock the bootloader after you rooted your phone, install recovery, then install Alien Rom. At this time, try to remove the battery and put it back in and turn the phone on again to see whether phone loads. If not, you may need to flash sbf and start over again.

You are correct sir/ma'am...
Must be unlocked before flashing Alien Rom. Use this process to get back up and running and then re-root. But before flashing a full ROM the next time, make sure your bootloader is unlocked. This P-ROM only needs rooted and you can use Bootstrap Recovery to flash it. Its actually a REALLY REALLY good P-ROM. Hope this helps and good luck!

i had figured it out last nite but thnx for the help still.. really appreciate it

[Q] Stuck in bootloader when trying to unroot

So im on das bamf 2.0 with the mr2 radio flashed, i could load the rom and use my phone. But then i decided to unroot the phone, so i flashed the stock rom which worked before and took me back to being on stock and unrooted. But, now when i flashed it said Main Version is lower, in red letters. I now have no root with s-on as well. My phone wont boot because apparently one of the boot images i flashed didnt want to get unflashed. I cant do anything in the bootloader that wont end up with it rebooting the bootloader. I do not have usb debugging on because of the fact that i it FLASHED the pgio5mg or whatever it is that you call it, flashed = turning off usb debugging. Should i try to get a new one from big red? what if they get on to me and not give me a new phone thanks to it saying security warning?
Is there any way for me to be able to use my phone again, whether its getting rooting again or downloading an official gingerbread rom, if thats even out yet?
PLEASE HELP IM ONLY 2 MONTHS IN MY CONTRACT!
Also, at the top of bootloader it says SECURITY WARNING.
u have the wrong radio for the stock phone. u need the MR1 radio. since u still have the PG05IMG on your card it is stuck in boot loop. u need access to a card reader so u can remove that file. that will take care of the boot loop. then just install the MR1 radio.
also if u go to verizon as is, they will not honor your warranty.

You just saved me from a life time of nightmares! But that didnt work, pio5mg or not im stuck in a fruit loop!
The first step after flashing pg05img.zip is to remove it from your sdcard.
Sent from my CM7 ThunderBolt using XDA Premium App
That didnt worrrrrrrk, i flashed the default froyo rom which is , like 23 MB, and it loaded it, but nothing happened it just returned me to bootloader menu!
As long as there is no file named pg05img.zip on the root of your sdcard, you can get into recovery from hboot. Are you able to get into recovery?
From what I understand, if you have the wrong radio for your ROM, the only side effect is that you'll have no signal from verizon. It sounds to me like you just need to reflash the ROM to get the phone to boot properly.

The default FroYo ROM and NO ROM for that matter is 23MB! Should be 300ishMB for Sense based ROMs.

^^ what I was about to say.
The radios are close to 23MB but not the roms.
BTW, @OP, doesn't sound like you followed the directions when going back to stock as the security warning was one of the disclaimers.

sorry i meant to say the defualt froyo radio is around 23 mb, i will try to flash this huge rom again, but now i have to wait like three hours cuz every time i try to flash the rom it says BATTERY VOLTAGE IS TOO LOW, and i cannot go to recovery it just takes me back to the hboot crap. I never read that tutortial guess i shouldve, i couldve sworn all you had to do was flash the defualt rom, DANG IT, i think that since i was on gingerbread this piece of shi doesnt want to flash the froyo rom, the fact that im now unrooted it doesnt want me to downgrade, god im never rooting again!
I rooted my phone by using the 3 click method by the unrevoked teem or whatever they are, i downgraded using the downgradepgoi5mg zip file found inside the folder, i dont know if that hepls but i hope it does.

ROM Manager screwed up my Atrix

I have a rooted Atrix. Installed Rom Manager and tried to install CWM backup. I got the RSD 2 error message at the prompt then rebooted the phone. Thats is as far as I went.
I uninstalled Rom Manager.
My phone will no longer connect to my computer. I get messages saying:
Computer says I need to format my SD cards in order to use them.
I also get a message saying advcntrl4.dll is not on my comuter.
Root tools no longer boots up on my computer.
The phone randomly connects and disconnects from my computer.
OK I hooked up my Atrix to my laptop and it saw it, so the problem is with my computer which I can fix eventually.
I still would like to have a full backup image of my phone and I see little support of Rom Manager issues anywhere.
Any suggestions appreciated.
thanks
Are you unlocked? If not its quite dumb to install a custom recovery.

+1... happened to be the first time i messed with my phone. root and unlock then flash recovery... works fine afterwards. just be more patient and learn your phone and how to mod it....
FYI... its not RomManager that messed up your phone... it was your lack of knowledge on how to do the mods to your phone.

Do you have any idea how long ROM Manager has been around? YOU screwed up your Atrix.
I'd bet my life on your n00batry.

Thanks Meter...your comments are SO helpful people like you make xda such a nice place to come to. Do me a favor and stay away from me.
SERooted:
Thanks for the comment. I lost driver files on my main computer with disk errors and have replaced the drivers and got it to connect to the phone. So another problem solved tho the motorola media program is not working yet but I will get it going. The bigger questions are:
I am anticipating ICS update so I would not want to do anything to interfere with the next OTA update. If so, I can wait for the update before doing anything with ROM manager. Funny thing after I deinstalled ROM Manager from my phone, it was still in my startup....weird, but I removed it. Questiion is did I change anything by trying to run the backup. ROM manager reported that OTA updates were turned OFF. If I unlocked the bootloader would that negate the ICS update?
thanks
panflute
i am trying really hard to decipher all that, but there is so much confusion in your post. i can understand you really have no idea what it is you are doing right now.
A. you wont see an ICS update from Motorola or AT&T for something like 3-6 months, probably closer to 3 i hope
B. if you want the stock ICS from ATT/MOTO, why are you even messing with ROM manager? You do know what ROM manager is for right?
C. you didnt change anything by trying to run a backup, in fact, it didnt do anything because you dont have an unlocked bootloader...it basically ran a script that failed.
D. ROM manager reporting OTA updates were turned off had nothing to do with a STOCK ATT/MOTO OTA....it was talking about OTA updates for your current rom...which is stock, which rom manager doesnt have any information about in its database....because rom manager is utilized for flashing roms.
E. unlocking the bootloader and leaving your rom stock will not keep you from updating from MOTO/ATT later on....
i think you have some reading that you should do before you break your phone.
ok
OK Thanks Meter. That answers most of my concerns. You are right I don't know what I am doing. I remember years ago when things were easier to figure out.
It sounds like I did not damage anything which is great. I was just attempting to do a backup because I am a backup nut. I have a ton of hours into setting up my phone. So maybe I'll do some looking around and see how easy it is to unlock the bootloader so I can make a backup. ROM Manager did NOT tell me I needed to unlock the bootloader. If you look at my homescreen you can see why I should have a backup. I have titanium BU but would prefer a full ROM backup.
3-6 months for ICS is fine with me because I like my phone as it is tho I am always looking for ways to improve on it. So far I have not run into any walls...it just keeps getting better.
thanks Meter.
I know how you feel.. I messed up my back flip that way. I had the same problem. Unless you're fully rooted you can't install a custom recovery. Most likely you have a hard brick.
Form is temporary but Class is permanent. I love Liverpool FC.

Did you try reinstalling the Motorola drivers for your pc and then trying to flash the pudding sbf (only if u r unlocked ).
I did not get from ur post. Can you still access fastboot? Then you can flash romracers recovery.

Help i messed something up

ok so i wouldnt say im a noob but im not as advanced as some of yous. last night i flashed a leaked ics onto my phone and loved it with one exception. i couldnt figure out how to root it. all my apps are backed up on titanium backup and i didnt want to have to get all of them manually. so i flashed back to stock using odin with a file i used back when that crappy update came out. i rooted it with super one click and and then went to put on a prerooted ics... when in recovery mode now i get this message
cant access to '/system/csc/att/system/'
i try putting on cwm and siyah and i keep getting authentication errors and the installation aborts. also recovery mode wont read my external sd card now. when the phone is booted up it works fine except i tried to do the factory ota update and it keeps failing. i tried reflashing back to stock again and did the update unrooted and it still failed.
i know you guys hate hate when people ask without researching so i did SOME forum browsing and found nothing. sorry i dont really have time to look too extensively. i just want to know how to fix it. i appreciate any help i can get

Start with getting back to stock using this guide. Check for ICS bootloaders too, you probably flashed them and you have to get stock ones back (careful, flashing bootloaders can cause hardbricking). Once you're back to stock and rooted, you shouldn't need to ever use PC Odin again.
Then use this guide for rooting/flashing.
One other note: when you tried to install CWM, it sounds like you loaded an update.zip onto your phone then tried to install it using stock recovery. Stock recovery won't let you install unsigned update.zips, which is why that method for getting CWM on your phone will never work (hence the authentication error and installation abort). For our phone, CWM is only included in custom kernels, that's the only way to get it on there, and don't even think about updating or changing it via other means. Just flash a custom kernel, it'll include CWM, use it until you want to switch kernels.
Hit my thanks button, I was really nice this time. And post in Q/A next time as well.
EDIT: Skip the second guide if all you want is stock. You should be able to update OTA after following the first guide. Though even if stock is what you want, I highly recommend flashing a custom GB kernel because a) they're more stable and faster and b) you'll have CWM in case you need it.
You started off mentioning about "leak ics" which I have absolutely zero experience.
My suggestion:
1. Try to get it back to stock. Make sure it works correctly.
2. If hasn't rooted yet, do so.
3. Getting CMW into the device by flashing custom kernel.
4. From there, install any ICS ROM you want.

[Q] The Usual Problem, a Bootloop, Result of Trying to Flash A Custom Rom. Help?

Don't really need some special help here, just want the device to function again no matter what way. (Don't care if it's factory reset completely it has nothing on it I was just using it for a bit of experimenting).
So anyway, I have an HTC One x that I tried to install Cyanogenmod mod on but when trying to flash it (I was a bit impatient and just did what I thought would work), it didn't work and I'm stuck on the HTC Boot screen. I can still restart the phone and get to the recovery menus or whatever they're called. But even when doing a factory reset it still just won't get past the boot screen.
I'm just someone who has a good love for android and got given this phone for free so I thought I might experiment with rooting and all that, (I don't want to do this to my main driver, the Z1, for the life of me).
Any help here would be great.
Thanks

If you had just used htcdev.com to unlock the bootloader and are still S-On, you need to pull/extract the boot.img from the CyanogenMod zip and install via fastboot.

You're welcome. Pretty common issue when people are getting used to how it works for HTCs.
Pro Tip: If you want to simplify the process, you can use this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cgollner.flashify and install the boot.img with the phone while booted, then boot to recovery and finish the rom install. Recommend doing a nandroid recovery first, just in case the boot,img/rom combo does not work properly, otherwise if you flash it first THEN do a backup, the new boot.img will be matched with the old rom and might cause issues upon restoring if they are not compatible.
Alternative: S-Off. Depending on which hboot you are on, you should be able to do S-Off. It can be a bit of a pain to set up, but once you do, then you can install roms just like normal as the boot.img will be able to be flashed from recovery along with the rom like in most phones.

[Q] Rooted, but can't install custom recovery...

Ok, so I've rooted and put custom roms on numerous phones. I've been trying to put a custom recovery, twrp or cwm, whatever, on my wife's phone, but have got a wall. I know for sure, 100% that I am rooted. I tired to install twrp and cwm via their respective apps, ends up in either bootloop trying to boot into recovery (and FYI, the screen shows that a custom recovery is installed, just doesn't load into recovery and restarts). And tried both via Odin, but got the same result. Have never ran into this problem before with any of my phone's, all of the galaxy's and Galaxy Note's since the S2. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks homies!
Just to add, yes I made sure double checked, triple checked that I was installing the correct recovery for the phone model. Also, she has done all the ota updates that sprint has pushed as of last week (2/9/15).

OK, from your post it looks like you have done this before. To be sure lets go through the motions one more time.
Your device is updated to 4.4.4 NK4 the latest KitKat version. It's rooted you have supersu icon and run a root checker. First download again ( in case you got a bad download ) a copy of Philz CWM version 6.48.4 here is the link https://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/hlte/ use "phil'z_touch_6.48.6-hlte.tar.md5" . I like to use odin version v1.85 it's little older but very stable, here is a link https://mega.co.nz/#!oA5xzTAL!LXoVWB...ZlOMSWdRGVX6Uo now flash the .tar file with odin. Make sure you let device boot up on it's own back to the OS, do not pull the cable and boot the device yourself. Then try and boot into recovery.
If it bootloops again, I would backup all your data to the PC desktop, and then do a factory reset get back to bone stock ( that means when your in download mode it says Samsung Official status not custom ) so many times I have seen folks with an unrooted device where the bootloader still says custom and you end up with a dirty flash or worse. It may take a couple factory resets to get back to stock, it doesn't always take the first time. When I flash a custom rom and then decide to go back to stock, I flash the rom two or three times to make sure I'm bone stock.
If the factory reset doesn't work you may have to flash a new stock NK4 OS. Then root again and install the recovery. Here is my thread with all the info you need http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-3-sprint/general/samsung-note-3-rom-flashin-basics-t2896440 , Enjoy !!!
Thanks for taking the time to give me a detailed response. Sounds like I'm gonna have to wait till Wednesday or Thursday when im off work and have some time to do this, but yeah, I was thinking maybe just a factory reset, but I'll use your links and try it one more time first. I'll let ya know. Thanks again
Do you have another link to the older Odin (1.85).the link says the file isn't there... Thanks again
