Is their a GPS clear memory - like sense had ##GPSCLRX#? - Motorola Photon 4G

The Sense rom on my EVO had this feature to clear the GPS memory and reset it.
I know it's not standard Android. My GPS is so bad it's pretty much a deal killer on my Photon, this helped my EVO during similar issues tremendously.
Thanks
Jeff

My gps locks in 2-3 seconds. Not sure if the gps clear works. Try it out and see.

EE4.0 freezes when set to standby.
Freezes phone when unlocked.
I'm just asking to see if this is a common issue.
Thanks,
phaZe
I'm having issues with EE 4.0. I've noticed that it has Learn More (INFO) app? Also that it has gv and gmail sync errors. When my phone goes standby while HTC explorer is open my phone locks and I have to do a hard reset. Anyone have a fix, besides defaults/wipe. I've completed that process 2 times.
P.S.
I only use this rom because of sense and wired tether.

Not that I know of. You using Setcpu? That used to freeze my phone running Eris lightning 3.02 same times as you. I didn't know how to set it properly. Also, if all you needed was sense and wireless, wireless can be used on ANY rooted Eris from 1.5 to 2.2 so really you should just use a different Rom. I absolutely love Eris lightning 3.02

I use wired tether. Wireless isn't for me. lol I switched to KayosFroyo. Haven't tried wired tether yet.
I'll have to look into setting up setcpu the right way. Thank you for the response.

Wow that's a goof on my part lol. I had wired tether working on aloysious snow but.... not sense lemme know of kayosfroyo works for ya. I bought pdanet for like 24 bucks on sale awhile back, that was def worth the money. Fastest wired speeds I had.

Aosp and data

I've been lovin my aosp Rom but hating the data drops so I went back to sense and hate it more even though it has no data issues at all. Anything I can do to solve the data drop issue with aosp?

I love CM7 but left for this reason. However I have come back to CM7 with a new radio and it seems to have fixed it. Although the LTE radio (the newest leak) has no problems FOR ME, I sometimes experience problems with the 3G radio. I know you can mix and match some radios but I am not in 3G enough to make it worth it. Sometimes my hand-off is slow when I am leaving a LTE or a 3G area and going to the other (unfortunately I experience this every day on my commute). However, it is not nearly a big enough an issue to make me leave CM7.
MY only advice is, experiment with radios! try the newest one leaked (".3"?) if you haven't!

[Q]Absolutely Terrible GPS Reception

Today I was trying to use my the Google Navigation on my Amaze and it worked absolutely horridly. So when I managed to basically get to my destination blind folded, I flashed the agps patch in CWM and it didn't make the gps any better. It doesn't seem to get any fixes on any satellites unless I am on wifi which makes sense because it is using the wifi network to base my location off of. I'm going on a huge trip in less than twelve hours so it would be really useful if my gps would be working functionally. So if anyone knows how I can make it work 10x better, that would be great. Thanks in advance!
Try this app.

Personally, after I have downloaded some A-GPS data with that app, I never had any problem with GPS after using this app.
And for Google navigation make sure you have download offline-maps from server using lab-feature if you aren't on unlimited data plan. I've had a time Google Navigation didn't work because my data connection was off
Maybe it is a good idea to purchase offline navigation app from android if this is very important trip.
I have attached the GPS testing from my phone.

Thanks very much for your reply. I won't be purchasing an because I will be using my Flyer as the GPS mainly for this trip, but I just want the GPS on my phone to be reliable for when I don't have my Flyer with me.

Which version of G Maps are you using? I know the previous versions were buggy and had to update them. But I'm not too sure is the navigation app needs g Maps for it to run properly.

I'm using the latest version. The kicker is I have GPS and a data connection on my Amaze but my Flyer only has the GPS and it's working way better right now.

I'm using bulletproof 1.3.1 (stock kernel) and gps performance is poor for me, too. Accuracy is fine but awful battery drain. I use it so rarely, i haven't even bothered messing with it,

My navigation works great on Energy ROM. Used it Saturday.

I'm on enrgy rom too and have no gps issues at all. Just checked and I'm getting a fix on 9 of 13 sats while sitting in my living room.
My t-mobile amaze, with completely stock rom locks onto the gps in seconds. No problem with mine.

Any good satnav programs?

Can anyone recommend (paid or free) that works correctly with the Amaze and has active (live) traffic?
I've paid for Copilot but it freezes all the time requiring a phone reset to get it working again. It was so bad i thought it must be my phones GPS unit but I tried google navigation and that worked just fine.. trouble is it seems a bit basic, data heavy and doesn't seem to have active traffic for road accidents..
Cheers.
Google maps. I have tried a few diff ones and keep coming back to google maps. The only real downfall is if you try to start navigation, and you don't have a internet connection. Otherwise its great.
Is there a specific set of features you are looking for?
Telenav was out before gmaps and is an okay alternative. There are some others that allow predownload of entire regions

GB.. Try ** navfree ** On market its an open source community for years..
Works fine in Canada... Don't let your screen sleep during the map download

yeah, i use navfree, usa version. Works like a charm

Google maps does it all. You can click Settings > Labs > Pre-cache map area if you are traveling a long route and you think you may lose signal. Otherwise it has live traffic and voice turn by turn, all free. I will try navfree since you guys mentioned it though. Always a fan of open-source projects!
Google maps FTW
You can cache map areas....
If you hate the default navigation voice, try out svox
I consider Google maps bloat... It runs for no reason

It runs for a reason. Its the location provider. Any apps that request you location (IE Facebook, Flixster, Groupon), Android uses google maps to find you.
Copilot 8 was ok on stock GB on my telus Amaze but I just flashed the stock Tmobile ICS and found it wouldnt work at all so i switched to Copilot Live Pro 9 which i would highly recomment as its a significant improvement on 8 - i had to pay $4.95 for the Canadian Map but that didnt bother me too much seeing as i didnt pay for the main app itself.

[Q]Network Mode

Does setting network mode to Cdma only turn off the Lte? I think it would but I read online that Lte stays on all the time
Sent from my EVO LTE using XDA
It not only tells the device NOT to turn on LTE but also tells the devicenot to LOOK for an LTE signal which in my experience enhanced battery life... Well may not have enhanced battery life to be honest because I was only on charge number 2 when I turned it off LoL but will actually turn it back on and see how battery fates then to compare and do my best to keep using the phone as much as I have been to get proper results for the comparison.

Thanks. I feel like this would be like leaving GPS or Wimax on. Wasting the battery.

Except leaving GPS on doesn't waste battery. It's only using power when it's actually active. This was a big question people asked 2 years ago when the OG Evo came out.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

But with all the apps that try to pull your location I always thought it was hurting my battery on the OG. I am a battery whore so it could have been in my head.

Yes, it is really only active when instructed to do so by certain apps at certain times like posting on FaceBook, using Nav, etc etc.
