I was wondering if anyone can help, i tried flashing the new ics firmware with mobile odin last night, not the first time I've done this.
it got stuck in a boot loop but with just the Samsung logo, i left it overnight as it was late on and i left it on charge. When i checked it this morning the battery was dead and it now doesn't want to charge or turn on.
when you try and go into download mode it says low battery, is this phone now broken? is there anything i can do?
Did you do a full wipe in recovery?
no i didn't, and I regretted it afterwords
actually i think i may have done, i'm not too sure now.
should have sorted it last night whilst it still had charge
HEHE u just need a reflash , but... the battery completly discarged overnight.
just take a good battery from a friend with sgs2 or sgs , reflash and then charge u'r bat.. or simply charge yours somewhere.
The same happened to me yesterday when I tried to flash lpq. I took out the battery, connected to the charger, reinsterted the battery and turned on the phone then my phone would charge and I then used regular odin to flash.
thanks for all the help, guy i work with has an s2.
can't believe i didn't think to just swap the battery!
Just flashed LPQ with mobile odin too yesterday. No problems at all. Make sure you have the latest mobile odin and the file isn't corrupted

phone is up and running now, charging as i type this.
Possible fix, it worked for me..
So, after removing the battery I put it in the freezer. I have two so I figured i'd try this obscure method I found posted somewhere, I left it plugged into the charger without the battery. after 10 minutes or so in the freezer, i removed it took it out put it back in and it began charging, I powered up into CWM reset the battery stats, did a clean wipe of my current ROM, reinstalled the rom just to make sure it wasnt the rom doing it. and after powering on it was charged already to 5%
I have similar issue with my Galaxy S2 GT-I9100, Flashed with Odin could not turn off but still could switched on firmware was really slow so decided to flash to different had problem with welcome wizard so cleared cache and reset it in CWM, After that, phone were still working till battery get drained. Tried to charged it and turn on without any luck.Next day my mate told me that may be and issue with charging port, so i putted a knife inside usb port to clean it - no luck, when replaced battery with friends one phone turned on normally. When i pluged in the charger it turn off straight away and i noticed i condemned pins inside usb port so decided to replace Flex Cable inside after that phone can not start and charge even with friends battery. Any ideas ?
Sounds like you didn't replace the flex cable properly. Double check that.

I double checked and nothing, a lifted cooper connector in case they did not touch with case, and still nothing, do i need to put cover screws back to close circuit ? if not that mean still having problem.

I don't know about the screws

You have short-circuited the pins in the usb port. As you connected the charge cable, the pins, which shouldn't contact each other, did.
I suspect that the main board got some sort of damage. It's basically a russian roulette of hardware faults, so only a repair shop could diagnose the problem, and most likely replace the main board.

Hi,
Yesterday when I took the phone off the charger normally, it started to indicate that it is being recharged, and a couple of seconds after it announces that it will no longer be charged and this same cycle continues and continues playing the annoying sound / message. I tried to fix it by removing the battery, but it did not help at all. I also tried to connect the phone to Kies but when Kies recognize it, the program crashes ...
So could someone please help me with this?

Did you try to blow some air in the usb port? As it may contain some dust that is leading your phone to notify you as if it is being charged...

Hey,
I have been actually been having the same problem, it could:
1. bad charging brick
2. battery issue
3. kernel issue - i dont think its this one any more because i am still getting it on the stock leaked firmware.
4. usb charging board
i have tried flashing different roms / kernels and doesnt seem to be a cache / file issue since it happening before the phone boots. (charging screen)
if possible try another s2's battery in your phone... power off the phone and see if it auto starts or goes into charging screen. I have a spare battery and i dont seem to get the issue on that one. (still testing)
I also noticed i really only get the issue when i leave the phone charging for the night then wakeup. pull the charging cable and the phone doesn't register the disconnect and says its still charging. if i connect the usb to a laptop and connect and disconnect, it registers instantly.
i have looked for bent pins / dust.. depending on the better testing goes it may be the charging board that could be the issue.
good luck

I agree with you about the usb port problem. I also had a problem with the usb port, the battery icon was blinking all the time and the phone had a huge battery drain issue. All I could do is returning to stock, unrooting and bringing the phone to service center for repair.

hey
yesterday i install 4.1.2 XXLS that look like S3 with odin
everythings is okey but when i wake up i found my phone is off my battery is empty
i charge it for 30min that give me 20%
i pull the charge AC i go to other room to charge my phone but i found that not work cant charge
i try USB connect with pc that not work too its like there is no cable pluggin
i try to turn off mobile pull the battery format my phone all of this not work
Try charging the Battery using external charger. ...
It could be a problem in your charging port... else put back the stock ICS and try charging. .

I had the exact same issues you have after flashing the LSJ Rom.
First I had huge battery drain, then my phone rarely managed to recognize the charger/USB cable
However, I kind of managed to fix it for two days now.
What I did was; pull out the battery for a couple of hours. Afterwards, I tried to charge it a bit and flash my old rom (CM 10.1)
Not sure if this was the reason for the fix, but you could try it.
so i should to turn back to ics
but mode download doesnt work because of the phone dont detecte usb/charger
i wanna do it via recovery
i flash into ics 4.0.3
i upgraude via wifi to 4.0.4 but still the same probleme
i dont understand when i connect my phone to odin via cabel USB that work. but without odin just plug it didnt work
Kies installed?
You should have read about battery drain in JB leak...it's kinda better than ICS.
i fix that by a technician
he told me he fix that by washing with a product that all, he not change connecteur with other one just fix it
now i worry if this probleme came back hhhhh
My battery started to drain fast few days ago, i thought it was a software issue(some apps). Yesterday i put it on the charger, as i didnt put it, nothing happend, i thought my charger broke, i put it on PC, same, wont charge, now im thinking the connector broke, u put USB OTG memory stick and it reads it normally, so the port is working, tryed factory reset and reflashing offical stock rom, problem isnt solved, also when the phone is in download mode on charger or pc, and i take out the battery the phone stays on, it takes power directly from the charger(this is normal), witch i think confirms its a battery problem, not a phone. Now, anyone faced this problem also? Have expirience whit this, any advice what should i do (im gona try with new battery but its a weekend, no stores working). Any help, any chance its really a battery problem, not a phone?
EDIT: Also when the battery is in, phone off, put it on charger, the empty battery shows, the grey curcle arrow rolls (battery stats are read), then it shows the battery level for a second, and the circles bellow it instead of zooming in and out in movement, it stays at the first for a seccond and then the display turns off, nothing, no red light also.

I hope you are right, i had that problem before, and replaced it, after then im extremely careful and gentle, so i think there are very low chances that thats the problem, i will take it to service later today, its still under warranty
Its probably a faulty battery
I had a faulty cable and man it was horrible
I was on vacations so no shops around, the phone would constantly show charger connected/disconnected and would take ages to charge
Before one month ago a strange problem appeared.i flashed different roms and kernels but a few days later after a complete dischargeof the battery when I completely charged my phone with the charger it tried to reboot and it didn't pass the boot screen. This problem was solved only with a full wipe and a reflash of a rom.But if I try to use the charger instead of pc to charge my phone or if I complete discharge it sometimes It will not boot.i tried a lot of different roms and kernels without success .any ideas what causing this problem?

Probably the USB board/port. KeithRoss39 has a guide in General (not stickied; search for 'replace USB charger board') which will enable you to replace it yourself quickly/easily/cheaply (<US$15).

my friend what is the rom now you are using?
if it is based on cm try stock roms
if it is not then i think the problem is from your charger .. try someone else .
you can also try wipe battery statue from recovery
Good luck

Ok thank you very much for your answer.Do you think that it could be the charger instead of usb board/port because it seems that if i try to charge it via usb cable from pc or if i try another charger it will boot normaly but the problem is that i don't know for sure because i only use my charger when the phone is completely discharged (turned off) ,i usually have my phone connected to pc all the time,so i also suspect that it may be the reboot that causes the phone to boot loop and it may be not connected to the charging proccess at all. What is your opinion ?
Also is there any way to test my usb board/port to see if it working correctly before replacing it ?

I tried both stock and aosp roms but with no luck.
I tried different chargers but the problem doesn't appear every single time so i don't know for sure if the problem is from my charger.Sometimes it boots normaly with mine too.
I didn't try to wipe battery stats from recovery but how it could be useful ?I couldn't find a lot info for that...
thanks
Might be the charger, so try a new one if you like. But don't be surprised if you end up having to replace the USB board after. The issues you described with booting/not booting sound like symptoms of the USB board on the fritz.
When the boards start dying, they rarely stop working completely (at least initially), and often show a couple of faults, but work OK in other ways (might be able to transfer data OK but can't charge as an example, and so on).
As a test, do a completely clean install of stock & test it for a few days, if you see the same thing, it's fairly likely the hardware fault. Up to you which way you want to go in that case, but I'd be replacing the board.
Edit - In light of your post just now which crossed with my reply, it's definitely the USB board. You've tried different chargers, you've tried stock, that seals the deal as far as I'm concerned. Put it this way, if it's not the board, it's something else hardware-wise.

Ok i will start testing then and replace the usb board if needed.Another thing that confuse me is why the phone boots with a full wipe and re-install of a rom ?Also in what way the USB board can affect the booting proccess?
EDIT :I am not experienced with smartphone hardware so i need some info...
I don't think that anybody outside of Samsung themselves would be able to tell you why one of their phones acts the way it does.....they know their hardware and the way software interacts with it in a way that nobody else can.
All I know is that I've handled TWO S2's with faulty USB ports, and they have exhibited various symptoms as a result.......
1) phone displayed charging icon even if it wasn't plugged in.
2) phone NOT charging even though it WAS plugged in.
3) PC/Laptop not recognising phone when USB connected.
4) phone randomly shut down.
5) phone would not boot unless boot option in CWM selected.......
I could go on, but you probably get the picture.
These issues stopped occurring on both devices as soon as I'd replaced the USB assembly......
Choice is yours fella, but I know what I'd be doing.

I replaced the usb board about a month ago but i still have bootloop issues that appear randomly.
I also have some other issues now.
First of all when i try to transfer files from/to pc the copy procedure will stop at some point and then windows does not recognize my phone or a pop up window appear asking to fix my drive but when i try to fix it says that the drive has no problems.
Apart from that if i try to remove the battery and then put it again with the charger still connected to the phone the battery percentage fall from 100% to 10%-15%.
I dont know if all these problems are related but it seems that the usb board is not responsible for these issues because i have the same problems with 2 different boards.Any ideas what else hardware-wise might be ?
Thanks in advance !

I read carefully the OP and the replacement that i bought is the same 'rev' version with my old one.So is possible that the new usb board is faulty too ?
Is it possible to be something wrong with the internal SD ?
I want to mention that i have used a PIT file posted by @metalgearhathaway to increase data partition but the procedure was successful...
The only reason that i mention it is because then i had the faulty usb board and i used ODIN for the procedure but it passed all stages succesfully.
Mate.....remapping the partitions with a pit file is a pretty major thing to forget to mention.....
It's pretty advanced and/or risky to start messing with pit files.....it's also something i've never done, so i'm unsure of the consequences.......apart from the obvious 'permabrick' risk.
I don't even know how you'd revert to the factory set partitions if you needed to.....though i'd guess it'd involve flashing another pit file. All the issues you've previously mentioned (apart from the battery) *could* have been caused by the pit file and that being the case, you're lucky it wasn't a whole lot worse. As for the battery, that could simply be the fact that batteries do fail, and if yours is the original, this is probably the case given the age of the phone and the fact that Samsung only offers a 6 month warranty on the battery anyway.......
Sorry fella, but as there's a pit file flash involved, you've moved into territory that I can no longer advise on........
