[Q] Did i just brick my atrix? - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, sorry guys but yes I am a noob. I was running alien build #4 on my atrix and things were running great, but then I wanted to be able to overclock and the kernal I had originally wouldn't allow it (not sure if alien 4 has a kernal that flashes with it) so I tried to flash faux's 0.1.9 1.3 ghz kernal using CWM from my sd card and.... boom. I think what i have her might be a soft brick only for the sake that it powers on and tries to boot. is says "failed to boot 2 starting RSD mode" and it hangs forever. Also if I hold volume down and power while connected to my pc it "failed to boot 2 starting fastboot protocol support." Please can anyone tell me what I may have done, or if there is a way to fix it? Thanks in advance.

if you can get into rsd you can flash a sbf file. just make sure that you choose the right sbf!

Looks like you can get into fastboot as well. I recommend recovering via fastboot, as it's much much safer than RSD.
Get moto-fastboot from here -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=635584&d=1308928440
and stock 2.3.4 from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1163342
Extract everything to C:\moto-fastboot
Get into fastboot, then:
moto-fastboot devices
moto-fastboot flash boot boot.img
moto-fastboot flash system system.img
moto-fastboot -w
moto-fastboot reboot
This should get you back up and running.

[Q] Gingerblur Bootloop after attempting to install 2.3.4

I decided to update to 2.3.4 after using froyo with the latest gingerblur. I read that i can update straight from gingerblur to 2.3.4, I wish I didn't lol. I followed this guide and got up to step 2 with no problem. Then I got kind of confused, since I already had cwm on my phone I just put this on my sd card and booted into tenfars cwm recovery using the system recovery app. I then selected the gingerbread update and it seemed like it installed just fine but when I rebooted I got up to the green motorola gingerblur screen and it would turn off and turn back on. So I then tried to flash back to 1.2.6 using rsd lite which failed. It still only gets up to the green motorola gingerblur screen. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Does anyone know how I can get my phone back into working order and properly install kens 2.3.4 rom? The bootloader is still unlocked.
Do you have the new cwm? If so you can flash the 2.3.4 from kennethpenn . If you don't have the lastest it wont work. Fyi the lastest is install with fastboot did you do this? Let me know .

Fastest fix is to fastboot htkw build of gingerbread then flash to the one from kenneth.
have you ever used fastboot? if not i will walk you though it.
1st go download the htkw build http://www.megaupload.com/?d=VLAKXBB3
Fastboot files for u http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1138092 choose if u have
32 or 64 bit
2st make sure the moto-fastboot or fastboot (they both work i have tested )file is in your c:\
you have to cd the drive first so make sure its in c:\ .FYI make sure all the files are in one folder not the root drive
so name a folder (whatever) then cd that folder from cmd.
Dont use " " just showing you commands
one at a time and wait for them
Then go to cmd
"cd c:\moto-fastboot"
click enter
then type
moto-fastboot flash boot atrix-2.3.4-hktw-boot.img
then
moto-fastboot flash system atrix-2.3.4-hktw-system.img
then
moto-fastboot -w
click enter
Should say writing\sending
Once your done and it completes
type moto-fastboot reboot
enter

It says "moto-fastboot is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file"
edit: nvm downloaded the wrong one lol
Lol I think everyone does that first time ,after you get it back where you can use it. Flash cwm. Then we will go over how to install the good gingerbread.

i actually am stuck in a boot loop as well. i unlocked the boot loader on 2.2, then rooted, then flashed tenfars CWM. all went well. tried to flash ken's 2.3.4, installed fine, but upon reboot went into a boot loop.
so i tried the directions in this thread. but the system image is too large. fastboot worked fine with the boot image, but not system image. any advice? thanks!

lol I believe the reason for that is because the images in the zip weren't made for CWM, but for fastboot. If your fastboot isn't working, make sure you're using the new, updated fastboot from Motorola. Here is a link to it. The files included are for Gingerbread, but I would stick with the Safe update from Kenneth Penn. If anything, just use the Automated Upgrade from here. To use this, try downgrading to 1.8.3 using Fruit cake (don't risk using the SBF on your unlocked bootloader. Might end up with a fancy brick.)
Oh, and before you do anything, BACK UP. =] Friendly reminder =D
Happy upgrading!

This happened to me too. Please help.
This same problem happened to me. I'm brand new to this device. Just got it a few days ago. I think I managed to get the bl unlocked and got it rooted. Then I flashed gingerblur and everything was still okay. But when I tried to flash the latest alien build I got that same bootloop as described in the first post. Then I tried the solution in post #4. And it failed. I saved all the commands I entered and their output if that helps. Right now Im stuck at a screen that says "failed to boot 4" followed by "starting rsd mode". Any help would be greatly appreciated. Im a little scared

It says "Starting RSD Mode" after right? If you're trying to relock the bootloader, you should be able to flash any of the SBFs to get it locked again.
Correct - but this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1281528 suggests that you can relock, get back 4G and keep UbunTop & WebTop+. If I flash back an sbf such as 1FF-sunfire-user-2.3.4-4.5.1A-1_SUN-198_7-CM-release-keys-signed-Sprint-US.sbf the phone is relocked but the original WebTop is installed.

Root-Unlock-Relock.zip
Flash 198_7 SBF then root, unlock and install CWM Recovery.
Flash WebTop+ 1.2
Factory reset phone Menu/Settings/Privacy/Factory Data Reset DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP
Reboot phone into fastboot mode: VOL down/Power. Use VOL down to scroll though options til you see "fastboot" then VOL up to enable. and connect phone to computer

Reboot phone into RSD mode: VOL down/Power. Use VOL down to scroll though options til you see "RSD" then VOL up to enable.
Connect phone to computer.
Flash nopudding4u.sbf.
Close RSD Lite and disconnect phone.
Reboot phone
Thanks for the response. This is exactly what I was following - got this error after step 10 (tried 3 different times).
I'm digging through this to see where the issue is. I'll keep you updated.
Found the issue and fixed it.
Thanks! That worked! Appreciate the support!
This thread (and the link to the explanation) was very helpful. Lokifish Marz, you might want to make a note in the WT+ post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17956277&postcount=2) for people to be sure to reflash the full 198_7 or 198_6 SBF and specifically not try to relock without full SBF flash (which is shown in the guide.htm in the Root-Unlock-Relock zip). Just to draw attention that the full SBF Flash is required, since I (probably like OP) tried the quickest/simplest route to relocking first.

soft brick after doing pudding update from cm7, help!

I was on cm7, but then used the pudding unlocked sbf. Before, when I was on Alienrom after doing the pudding sbf everything was ok. But this time the update didnt finish properly and rsd lite asked to reboot mobile manually. I did as asked but now the motorla dual core logo flashes twice and reboots, this cycle continues. I also tried official moto sbfs, same prob. Is there still a chance to bring my phone from brick?
thanks in advance all for your time
If you can get into CWM just flash another ROM on the device. You can load a rom in the "mounts" section of CWM by moving it from your computer.
Wrong section. You're lucky I'm not a mod.

didnt understand what u meant, the phone's already unlocked, so what will the unlock commands do?
Boot into fastboot and use the "fastboot -w" command. If it still won't boot, then try the fastboot oem unlock command as mentioned above (yes, even if your phone is already unlocked)

[Q] Softbricked my phone while trying to install Cyanogenmod, help!

Hi,
I was trying to install Cyanogenmod on my phone using the guide on the cyanogenmod wiki (I can't post the link, but it's the first google result for Motorola Atrix 4G: Full Update Guide)
I did everything in the guide, up to the point where I was supposed to flash the ROM onto my phone using RSD, but then it failed and gave me a "Error switching phone to BP Pass through mode". I unplugged it from the computer, took out the battery put it back in, and now it's giving me the
"Failed to boot 0x1000
No OS detected, going to RSD mode
in 5 seconds
...
..."
Menu. When plug my computer back in, and try to flash the same ROM using RSD Lite again, it says "Failed Flashing Process: Unable to retrieve interface handle". How do I fix this? I've never unlocked or rooted my phone or anything before. It was completely stock before I tried to do this.
Also, when trying to use fastboot and typing in fastboot oem unlock, it's just stuck on <waiting for device>
You tried to rsd a flashable rom on a locked bootloader phone. Your first error. You will need to rsd back to stock first. Then you need to root the phone. Then You need to follow the steps in the guide here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1202883 or here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1182871 (the second one I used recently). Once you've done that stuff THEN you can flash cm thru recovery. Hope you didn't hard brick.

Thanks for your help, but could you be more specific on how to do all of that? As you can tell, I'm (quite obviously) a noob at this.
Also: I downloaded a file called 1FF-olympus-user-2.3.6-4.5.141-111212-release-keys-signed-ATT-US-GAS_NA_OLPSGBATTSPE_P012 , which is supposed to be the stock ROM. But when I run RSD, it gives me the error "Failed Flashing Process: Unable to retrieve interface handle (0x7027)
EDIT:: Your second link worked! Thank you very much!
Don't worry about it, it is common. All you need is the small unlock RSD file for your device found in post # 1136261 and the attempted flash that fails in the step that you described. Then you need to move on to the next step in the process. You need to get the phone into fastboot though, by holding the volume down key during the boot up / or if you get that crazy menu with options 0 though 9, use the volume up and down to select fastboot. Then on the PC continue with the process:
fastboot oem unlock
Then when that is successful, flash recovery.img or whatever recovery you have downloaded:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

1FF-olympus-user-2.3.6-4.5.141-111212-release-keys-signed-ATT-US-GAS_NA_OLPSGBATTSPE_P012
i flash it the 2.3.4 and the rsd lite said "Flash failure: Phone[0000]: Phone did not re-enumerate after RAM-downloader was sent."
and the phone dont reboot so i take the battery off go to fastboot and did this

any ideas?
First off, what stock version were you on before you started flashing custom ROMs?
Sent from my MB886 using xda app-developers app
i guess wass 2.3.4 cause i flash CWM and isntall the CM7 it was running ok but one day it just reboot it selft and didnt boot up
It must have been on 2.3.4 because you flashed CWM and CM7? How is that even related?
well really dont know cause i was using the CM7 well till it failed dont know why or how so i decided to flash via rsd a stock sbf i ve flashed both i posted but still given me that error in the rsd lite re-enumeration so any ideas to solve that and flash the stock sbf on it

Stock 2.3.4 and stock 2.3.6 have nothing to do with CM7. They are 2 different types of ROMs. Sbfs deal with stock, and thats all we're focused on right now, the stock version.
@ravilov does his result look like a bad file download/flash or does that look like a brick caused by a downgrade?

Not sure really. Actually I'm not quite sure what he's trying to accomplish here, and why bother with SBFs if he has working fastboot. Why not just get a fruitcake, unpack it, and flash boot and system manually through fastboot?
Also, more knowledgeable people say it is actually very hard to make a true hardbrick. If the phone is showing any signs of life, it is probably fixable (unless of course there is something wrong with the hardware). So there is at least that...
ok i did a few things like flash via fastboot bud to make more sure please can anyone of you give a link to re download the stock sbf and also the fruicake for fastboot flash cause it could be a problem whit the file i download it
guys i download a fruitcake from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1583199
specially this 234-sb-release
but i get that flashing the system image in fastboot
sending 'sytem' (327680 KB)...
(bootloader) Image is too big, use 0x10000000 bytes chunks
FAILED (remote: (00000006))
finished. total time: 0.001s
any ideas help
Use moto-fastboot instead of fastboot. And don't be afraid to use forum search next time...
i flashed but nothing happend it stock on the unlocked screen like before
