Hi everyone,
I googled every conner on internet but could not find any thread showing how to root sharp sh-12c. has anyone rooted the phone ?
thanks
I would really like to know if it can be done as well. I live in Australia and now I really regret getting this phone. So use to a rooted phone. There's just too much bloat on this Docomo device. Because of the locked nand I don't think this phone will ever see root.
we are in same place mate. i live in aus as well. this phone is really annoying with junk japanese applications that's never used.
Hope someone will find a way to root it as well. Want to get rid of the bloat on this and replace a lot of the crappy Sharp system apps like the calendar and calculator.
Have any of you guys got any of the built in market links (specifically Taiko no Tatsujin and Katamari) to work?
you are not alone, i am the user of sh-12c in hong kong ....and search the internet night and day for the solution...
and i found this hope .... h t t p : / /i.imgur.com/3daGV.jpg

how to get root SH-12C
Hi, I'm goroh_kun from japan.
If you can get own risk, and don't care about losing the maker warranty,
I can help you.
But I can't talk the security hole in public, because of legal problem in japan.
If you really want to get root, please DM me, thanks.
I also get alot of reboots on this phone as well. Any one else with this phone having the same problem or is it just me. I think the problem has something to do with the phones data connection cause this only happens when I'm out and about. Not when I'm using wifi. But to be honest I have know idea what's causing it to reboot. It's not caused by some app that I've installed cause the reboots even happens after a fresh reset of phone.
Giiar, try disabling auto 3g/gsm and leave it just on 3g.
Apparently it reboots (sounds like a bug) when it switches between 3g and gsm.
i really regret that bough this phone. the battery runs out of power very fast. nothing special on it.
I guess we need some time to familiar with this JAPANESE Andriod. It works quite differently as compare with other Andriod.(I'd used about 20 models since this year) Lots of tiny enhancements are quite meaningful and interesting. (Manner mode, Veilview(avoid others beside you seeing your screen), extra lock screen for your phone book, answering machine function, etc)
All and all, this is a TRUE 3D phone that can take 3D photo and video for my family and friends. All people around are envy on this and actually it isn't really expensive. I consider the BEST phone on the earth at the time being. (other 3D phones design are truly ugly when compare with this SHARP that 100% made in Japan) I'll not try another non-3D Android from now on...I guess.
Battery is truly the bad thing....I manage to solve this problem with an external battery pack 4800mAh....cheap and good enough, can charge other devices too. (e.g. give a hand to your iPhone friends around when needed..)
Re-booting issue maybe related to your SIM card, I learnt this from Taiwanese users and I'd replaced a new SIM for same reason. Working perfectly for few days from then.
All these are my own experience and hope most of us will enjoy using this phone!

Well I've been keeping it on GSM and only manually turning it to 3g when Browsing. 2 days now and no reboots which is great. Thanks for trying to help. I actually saw this solution on another site and there they mentioned that this is the only known fix for the rebooting issue.

General tips:
-Are you sure that WIFI and GPS are off when you don't use them?
-Have you tried a task killer to check if any unneeded apps are running?
-Have you tried to run on GSM only, to save battery?
-Have you tried "bump charging"? Supposed to increase battery life 50-100%: http://www.gizmocrunch.com/mobile/6754-htc-sensation-evo-3d
Don't have this phone, these are just generic tips that improve other androids stand by time.
Now my phone is on a continuous loop. Doesn't even get into the the screen where they ask for the pin code. Ran into so much issues with this phone. Can't even work out how to do a hard reset so I can get the phone to boot. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance.
could anyone share the method here if you successfully rooted this phone???

hey great info on the power issues and rebooting ive had the same issues my sh-12c turned on and off about 3 times in 5 mins and the placed it did that was while i was traveling in and out of 'dead spots' for signal so hopefully that will help.
Good info on the bump charging i was about to order 5 spare batterys and charge them all lol ill put that on hold for a while and see how this goes prob still need one or two more tho just in case.
Im also looking to root it but im a bit nervous on giving it a go without any confirmations can it toataly brick the phone if it goes wrong or is it quiet safe usually like apples jailbreaks where i could just reinstall the firmware? im very tempted to just click and see what happens lol

Just wondering, were you running anything or recently installed something when it locked up? Have you tried taking out the battery, sim and sd card?
I've tried several combinations (like vol +, vol -, etc) myself when I got the phone, but couldn't get into recovery mode. Hope someone finds out how and lets us know.
I haven't had any issues with mine so far, apart from the bloat, I'm really happy with the phone. Love the 3D on it. Encoding lots of stuff for it.

I just received my phone and noticed an odd screen issue after updating the firmware:
Notice the slight line around the screen. The odd part is that I do not see the line when I have a white screen, I also do not see it when I am in clockworkmod nor do I see the lines when the boot screen is loading.
Is my screen going out or what?
I had this problem with my first Atrix and I searched high and low with no workable solution. Some say it is a firmware issue. Honestly, there's no fix to my knowledge, without forking over some cash for a new digitizer. Only option is to get another one or another phone Lord willing. Apologies. Well, unless you can bear with it. It doesn't effect performance from what I saw, but it's annoying and no matter what I couldn't ignore it as if it wasn't there.lol

Well I can deal with it as I got a pretty good deal on the phone (off contract via ebay) but it is still very annoying. If I can deal with it till November, I am eligible for an upgrade from ATT (with some money of course).
I would definitely blame it on the firmware. If you are getting crazy lines all the way through you could probably blame it on the video. I see this all the time at my work. Try a hard reset, back up your data.

Thanks!! I will try to fully upgrade the firmware to 4.5.141 instead of stopping at 4.5.91.
How would you go about upgrading the firmware if you already unlocked the bootloader and rooted the device? If this is indeed a firmware issue, how would I go about this. I searched the forum and found a lot of conflicting answers. If you could provide me with a good link, I would appreciate it.
Thanks
I am thinking about following this in the morning when I have my phone fully charged and I was wondering if you see any issue with running this?

My phone is not bricked but I want to revert to stock (locked bootloader, remove root, etc) to see if the issue is indeed a firmware issue. Then I can re-unlock the bootloader, enable root again and restore or reinstall CM9.
Thanks

You will not ever lock the bootloader once unlocked. All you can do is hide the unlocked text. It is a fuse that gets burned when unlocking the bootloader.

Can't help there. I'm done with crapblur. Staying on cm roms now. You could go with nottachrix, his rom is based off 2.3.6 and you can choose full blur or blur removed when installing.
Well I think I hardbricked my phone anyway --

I made sure not to flash lower than the original 4.5.91
Pretty much before I got a chance to install clockworkmod again, the battery died. When I went to restart the phone to go into SBF, I got the above message. I tried booting the phone without the battery in it and it says the "Failed to boot 1" (since I do not have a rom installed yet) but if I try to run fastboot, I get the battery is too low to flash.
I am not for sure if this is a hardbrick or if my battery is just dead but I have charged it for about an hour so far with the same message.
I ordered another battery before this incident so I should get another next week but I am so worried that I hardbricked my device and I will not be able to recover.
Frick!!!
I am so screwed...... I cannot get it turn on with just the battery in but I can disconnect the power cable and the screen stays at Failed to boot 1.
I am at a loss as I have read a ton of threads here on the "battery too low to flash" but none of them are same as my issue. I really do not know what I can do as I bought the phone on ebay for $200 and just received it yesterday.
Well now I have it plugged into my computer and the screen is off but now the green charging light is on again. The computer recognized it as a usb device called MOBOOT and the Motorola USB Networking driver miniport is showing up in Device Manager.
Any ideas?
I am using this method (post 2) DIY active micro-usb cable to battery posts (post #2 method) to charge the battery for a few hours:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1528729
Then I will will try to continue the OP's method to recover my device.
I cannot believe it, this method fixed my issue with "Battery is too low to flash"!!!
I am now in the process of flashing the firmware via RSD Lite.
I had an issue with the Bluetooth and wifi radios on my original atrix so I bought a used one. the used one had an issue similar to yours though not as severe.
I finally got around to replacing the actual LCD with the good one and problem is gone... I don't think it's firmware related, more than likely, hardware is the culprit.

Actually the screen is really not that bad as the camera I used shows the lines much more than they appear.
BTW how much did the lcd cost and where did you buy it from?
all the sudden i have no display it is blank everything else works meaning i can call my phone it rings even though i have no display if i slide my finger to unlock the ring i can answer all calls i change the display today along with the digitizer but still have no display what else could be bad
Maybe the motherboard? I'd take it to the Sprint store (or whoever your carrier is) for repairs.

If its not the hardware, it can be the kernel problem. Do you see anything in your bootloader (vol down + power while phone is off)?

You could always try going back to stock. If you are s-on, bout the phone into fastboot, connect to pc, relock the bootloader and run the ruu.exe. You'll have to HTC unlock again. If you're s-off, just run the ruu. You'll keep s-off, but be completely stock otherwise.

If you don't have a light at all(even the "black" one), I suggest to take your phone to service because if that is kernel problem, you would have a bit of light. If that is not possible, open your phone and check if there are any irregularities. If you dropped your phone, cable could detach from motherboard. It is not hard to disassemble..you can find youtube video.

Unless he's made a habit of dropping his phone in the exact same way, I very much doubt that would help.
If it were a kernel issue your boot loader would have worked all the same (boot loader loads the kernel and is independent of it)
As it's not the screen itself and not a software problem it's probably either the GPU being fried or some other piece of electronics between it and the screen connector ( maybe even the connector itself). As far as I know the "fix" for this is replacing the motherboard or the entire phone. As you've opened the phone I'm going to assume you're not under warranty in which case either repair option is quite expensive... a new PCB is generally over 50% of the phone's value and will most often prevent you from ever unlocking the phone via htcdev;
So last night, my phone decided that it would no longer like me to use it. The screen is a full screen of (for lack of a better term) rainbow snow. It is pixelated. I can't see anything except the snow. I have gotten it to show my lock screen by kind of tweaking the phone by bending slightly. When I get the lock screen, the touch screen no longer works. I can hit the power button to turn the screen off, and then again to only get the snow. I am thinking it's probably a hardware issue. I haven't dropped it or gotten it wet. Which leads me to my next question. I am rooted and running CM 10.1. I can't get in to recovery mode to restore to a stock ROM. If I take it in to Sprint for repair/replacement will they have a way of seeing I am running a ROM and decide they wont't work on my phone?

Is it possible that you CAN get into recovery and you just don't know it because you can't see it? Work with me here.
If you can power down the phone, try powering up into bootloader/fastboot and try to flash an appropriate RUU from fastboot/usb. Just a shot in the dark...

I pretty much have no idea what to do now. My phone won't mount the SD card on any computer. The phone recognizes the SD card, i just wont mount it. When trying to use RUU i just get the error 170. So, i guess i will be dropping my phone off at sprint and hope for the best.
Same issue. Was running Carbon which is cm based. Tried everything, nothing worked. Took it to the Sprint store yesterday and they got me a refurbished LTE. Refurb phone works alright so I'll just keep it for know but I know what you're going through. it sucks and although the ROM worked awesome it may have been the culprit.

The tech thought it was a connection issue with the display, but he couldn't get it fixed and thinks the motherboard went bad. They are replacing the phone with a new one, but they are backordered so I have to wait a week.
Yeah but what caused all of our phones to have the same issue that doesn't exist on sense roms? Kernel overpowering the motherboard causing it to fry?

So last night, when going to charge my phone, I notice that turning the screen on wasn't bringing me to my lockscreen. Instead it was a black screen with a line in the middle. It looked like the screen off animation got stuck on the screen. So I rebooted it and it was fine.
Today, I wake up and it won't respond at all. Holding the power button does nothing, it doesn't look like it's charging either. I know that I have it set up to run lagfix at night, could that have been the cause of this? Is there any way to come back from a brick?

Well you're going to have to pay the $50 then. And yea its from the "lagfix". That "lagfix" is really just TRIM. It's disabled off CM10.2 currently for this exact reason. It's been having a grand ole time causing a brickfest.

You only pay the deductible if the phone is lost or stolen. For hardware failure, with TEP, there should be no charge for a replacement device.
Jtag might be another alternative, as well. Shoot XDA member Zarboz a PM for more info.

PM'd Zarboz. But is there any way for me to unbrick it myself? I'd really like to leave going to sprint or mailing my phone away as a last resort. I've found a few unbricking tutorials, but they say that they're only for bricks that occur when going S-Off. Would it be crazy to try one of those anyway?

It won't work. You're not the first person to have this type of brick. It occurs as a result of faulty hardware, which can only be replaced, or flashed directly with JTAG (and even then, you'd still have the same hardware, and be prone to the same issue again).
I guess you missed the part in the Lagfree app OP that mentions the "brick bug."

Bricked??
Yesterday I restored a backup that I've been running for mounths, restored fine and no issues. Today I got a text went to unlock the device, had snow like an old tv with no signal. I pressed home and got the lock screen but there was major screen tear and the device was very slow to respond. I managed to get to twrp recovery and there was also screen tear/snow and the middle 2/4 was not there and non responsive, so couldn't wipe, fix perms or restore any thing. Tried that a few times, now the only response I get is I hold the power button for 10-15 seconds, capasitive buttons flash, let go of button, half a second later there is a quick vibration and black screen. I can't get in to the bootloader or recovery. Am I hosed?? tia Also when I charge it the light doesn't go on

If I still had insurance I would do this, but I'm not sure a new Evolte is worth $50 to me, especially with my upgrade around the corner. I'll just have to say farewell to this phone. It was a good run.

Let it charge for a good long while, then try to power it up.

Let charge for a while it booted and got stuck on the splash screen but the coloring was off. I plugged it in to the computer ran "adb devices" and it found it said recovery and a long number. I tried "adb reboot bootloader" black screen and that was it.

Looks like an issue with the screen. If you have TEP I'd take it to Sprint and let them look at it. Shouldn't cost you anything to get it replaced.

Wow, you guys were right, you do get a free replacement.
At first, I was set on just living with my mother's old SG4G, but I couldn't stand how outdated it was. The screen looked meh, and I couldn't even install Chrome on it. So I was ready to pay the $50 to replace it, went to sprint with my evolte, and the guy there said he could only service active phones. So he changed my active phone back to my evolte, and added insurance to it. So I walked in with a broken phone without insurance, and left with a new phone for free. I'd say that's a lucky day.
Thanks for your advice guys, you guys just got me a new phone for free.
