I had a mod which compacted the add widget menu i.e. instead of 6 on/off widget options just one with a sub-menu. After trying an sd partition thru cwm (doh) my card was formatted, and have re-flashed, so it's back to norm. Tried searching but no joy, anybody have it or know which thread it was in?
sinkster.
*** SOLVED!***
Searched again when on my laptop and found it. If anyone is interested it's here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=780828
I need it to tidy up my menu, it's pretty handy

I was hoping someone here can give me a bit of advice.
A couple days ago I was able to successfully root my SF and change out the bottom right search key so it would default to Google from now on.
Feeling good from all that I thought I'd take on a little tougher challenge and do some more customizing, starting out small before I think about tackling the Voodoo stuff later on.
WELL... I tried to change the battery indicator to the circle indicator followed the directions here: UOT Kitchen. How-To
It asked me to back up my "framework-res.apk" because I would have to replace it with one the website generated for me.
Everything went fine until I stupidly tried to do a 1:1 exchange of the new "framework-res.apk" for the original one, by first renaming it to apk.old with the hopes to paste in the new one in its place. BUt as soon as I renamed it and moved it to a backup folder it froze before I could insert the new one.
I know now I should've run the new .apk instead of swapping, but am now stuck with a SF that turns on but that is stuck at the SAMSUNG logo.
I hear the startup sound play and the verizon logo music, but that's as far as it goes. I can still boot into recovery or download mode.
Now, It seems that "all I need to do" is find a way to get access to my internal SD card and rename the "original back to .apk and move it to its original spot in the framework folder.
Is there a way to do something like this? I'm hoping there's some easy way to do this, short of having to do something more radical.
Hopefully there's someone out there that might be able to offer some advice for my current situation.
THANKS!
UPDATE:
FIXED!
Here's what I did.
I tried all the fixes in this link
Odin Restore files to get you to stock - xda-developers
but i was still getting forced closes.
then I wiped the stock recovery cache from the recovery menu.
After that it was still giving me FCs but to a lesser degree and I was able to make it into the "Settings menu" and do a factory reset.
After factory Reset everything has been quite stable.
I have new Viewsonic G Tablet. Just installed CM7 (I tried both BitTrix gingerbread beta 06 ROM and update-cm-7.0.0-Beta1-Harmony-signed.zip).
My problem is how to mount the tablet's internal memory via USB on my PC running Ubuntu 10.10.
Normally, a notification pops up on the device asking to mount the storage. This does not happen with either of the CM7 ROMs listed above. When i connect via USB, there isnt even any option in the drop-down to mount USB.
I tried a bunch of different things, but I couldn't figure out how to mount the storage -- except from the Clockwork Recovery menu.
What am I missing? Do I need to install an app? Which one? (I tried two different mounting apps from the market but they were crap. One just force closed, the other was a widget and wouldn't do anything.)
I had the same issue when I tried CM too, so I'm keen to know this too. Its really frustrating because its next to impossible to put things on the root of the drive without that. I actually got to the point where I had to NVflash back to stock to get anything done.Thought I had bricked it at one point, and this was less then 5 hours after unboxing it. Gotta get that stock piece of crap software off ASAP and CM6.1 was the first I tried.
CM may be "Stable" but its still very much in the experimental stage. No regrets with going with the Vegan TnT rework.
Thanks for your reply. I'm glad I'm not the only one seeing this problem. I spent another couple hours today looking for a solution and I still can't find one.
BTW, I don't know what the other ROM options are. I can't really use TnT Lite because the warning here [http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=842004] says it cannot be used unless the stock recovery is in place. I have Clockwork Recovery installed (and I don't really want to uninstall it).
I would prefer a Gingerbread ROM. I've tried two as I said in the OP, but they were both based on CM7 and they are both missing the option to connect/mount USB storage. So I'm looking for other ROMs. Any suggestions?
I would strongly recommend Vegan Tab gingerbread experimental http://vegantab.gojimi.com/download/VEGAn-7-02242011-Experimental.zip. I have been using it for the past 3 weeks and love it. Though it says experimental it is quite stable and have not experienced and FCs.
NOTE: It uses the original way of mounting memories (internal is in \sdcard and microSD in \sdcard2).

Thanks. I'll try it. How different is it from this ROM I already tried?

Might those be the same?
I don't have an ext SD card in the tablet. I'm assuming I should be able to mount the internal memory like I did with the stock ROM...
I know this is an old thread, but I too had this problem. Here's what I did to solve it.
I went into the ADWLauncher settings and under "General Behavior", I choose "Swipe Down Actions". Once there, I set it to Open/Close notifications".
Now, when I plug in the USB cable and swipe down, I see the menu where it allows me to turn on USB Storage.

I just installed CM7 to my internal EMMC on my Nook Color. I wanted to thank you for posting this. It's exactly the info I needed. Now I can mount my Nook just like I used to under the stock OS.

Thanks for posting this. I was looking for the same information.
When you install an application you get an icon you can place wherever you want.
The problem is that when I reboot, some icons always appear at the end of the last panel, like when the app was installed for the first time.
I've tried reinstalling, unistalling + deleting cache partition and delviks chace + installing, and whatever I thought It could help like "fixing permisions" in xrecovery.
I'm sure this is not an application problem, because I got it once and when I updated the phone (flashed a newer rom version) it fixed. The problem is I don't want to reflash the phone.
So what can I do? What file stores the apps icons position?
Thank you!
Hi, I'm using galaxy S2 and experiences the same problem.
rather discuss in this thread than open a new thread as it seems the same issue (android not phone)
anyone can help?
(I don't have an SD card, cuz I've searched and seen discussions about apps moved to SD card will make their icons run around)
Hello,
I've got a huge issue with my GS2 this morning. When I woke up I've seen a warning about the SD card ("card empty or with an unknow file system" something like that if I translate from French). So I've no more access to the SD card from the phone, I'll test asap to read the card externally (I need a card reader...). But it was just the beginning, then there was an update for Titanium Backup and now it's no more working, couldn't get the SU right any more, but Super SU is still here and working. Then I shut off the phone, remove the SD card, replace it, reboot and the time/date was reset to 1.00 2000 (or something like that) inducing an error with Whatsapp. Plus within Go Launcher a lot of app went out of there folder, now I've 2 screen of unclassed app that were in different folder until yesterday.... And finally when I press power or home button to wake up the device it take like 1 full second or more to get the screen on sometimes.
This is very strange... I mean, it could only be related, no ?
Any clue of what went wrong and where to start looking for a clue ? (before the big formatting and re-installation, probably of a custom rom this time).
Config.:
Rooted Galaxy S2 I-9000 with stock rom 4.0.3
I use a lot of app but major one are Go Launcher, Titanium Backup (update recently), SuperSU, Lama, Droidwall, DoubleTwist (update recently).
Thanks in advance for any help
EDIT: Happen to be only an SD problem. It's readable in my computer (I've backed up what was not made already by Titanium or so) but not any more in the phone. This SD is a quite new one (2-3 months) with 32GB. However my older one (the 8GB included with the phone) is still working great.
The icon problem is related to the fact that app transfered on SD card was removed from Go Launcher then when it can read the card again (for 1 or 2 min) it adds all the app outside of these folder (bug feature from Go Launcher).
Finally Titanium root access was not really related I guess... I had to restart the phone to get a new prompt for root access then It was OK.
First few things: I don't know if I'm supposed to be posting this here, idk if the problem is device specific or not... Sorry if I've done anything wrong. I've searched already, can't find any similar threads that actually help. I have the international version. I was running the CM10.2 Rom prior to 'the accident'. I will pay for a resolution if need be - PM me.
There's a bit of a story to this so I'll go over it all - not sure what's relevant.
I've been running out of storage for days, a 64GB SD card is in the mail. I currently have an 8GB one as well as the internal 16GB, both of which were near full, but the external one had relatively more than the internal one, so I decided to use foldermount and link2SD to move some space over. That all went fairly well.
This morning I got invited to the Aviate Beta launcher, which looked interesting. Tried to install, didn't have enough space. So I decided to make a backup of Nova, go into the play store, uninstall nova to free up space and then install Aviate without leaving the playstore. It worked, turns out I don't like Aviate much, so I worked backwards. Uninstalled Aviate, went to install Nova. Not enough space (idk how). Uh oh.
So I deleted some less-necessary apps that I could reinstall later. Not enough storage. Notification comes up in the bar along the lines of "storage critically low, device may malfunction". Now whenever I attempted to enter settings, the process crashed. Great. Simple fix, flash a NANDroid back-up in CWM. I can't remember what the message was, but there was something wrong with the back-up.
Wiped everything and tried to flash CM10.2 from the external SD Card but it wouldn't mount. Data also wouldn't mount. I tried several SD Cards ( ie about 10, different brands, sizes, classes, etc out of hope). So I decided I'll open up and Odin and just re-do everything per /showthread.php?t=2387980.
Turn the phone back on, stock Jelly Bean lockscreen was there, and once unlocked only the notification bar was there (no launcher). So I used different versions of Odin, different cables, downloaded the image several times, etc etc. Nothing fixed it. In fact, it's worse now. after booting past the Samsung logo, the screen just goes black now. smh
Can anyone help? It would be extremely appreciated. It's also a time sensitive issue as I need the device for work on Monday.
Sorry if I've missed anything. Yes I'm a noob, but you great people at XDA have helped a lot of people out before so I'm hoping you can help me.
Thanks!
