[Q] Thinner Stylus for writing? - Eee Pad Transformer Accessories

Hi
I currently have a asus stylus which came with the transformer with a rubber bulb in the end. I feel it is a bit too big and make the writing even harder. Is there a stylus which has a thinner tip?

Hard I wouldn't mind a official stylus

I have an Acase Version 2 stylus I got from Amazon. It a bit thinner than average. Still not quite a like a pen, bit it works pretty well.

I just ordered a adonit Jot stylus, that might be the best option. I know in about four weeks to find out.

A capacitive touch screen is just not going to give you the accuracy the old resistive screens. The Lenovo ThinkPad with a digitizer is going to superior for that kind of use.

ThanK'd all of you.
I bought it from eBay and the seller had a transformer, dock, stylus and cover.
Thanks for the info.Checking them out. if any one has a review with transformer ,would be appreciated.

Thank you and have a nice day...

I am also interested in finding a good pen type stylus for the Transformer..
I know that it wont work being exactly pin small.. but hell even 1/2 the size of the ones that are everywhere would be decent...

Like I mentioned earlier, the Acase V2 stylus is a bit thinner than the avarage stylus. Maybe not half but it's pretty close to half the width.
See a comparison photo here.

Sikai case

There is a Sikai case for the transformer that looks alot like the Asus branded case which is very thin (like original apple ipad case.) However this one folds in a few different ways that appear alot more like the new smart cover for the ipad2.
It is selling for 24$ with free shipping on ebay. Just ordered one can't wait to get it
any links or pictures?

Funny , coz there is original asus case with asus logo on the last photo ))
I'm not getting how the upright angle works. The folded portion looks like it sits so low; seems like it would tip back over pretty easy.

Hi, I have my sikai case since monday.
I only can speak good things about this, I recomend it.
Perfect fitting, nice material, only the hole for the camera isn't perfectly centered but it dosen't afect to the optics.
and of course with the case fitted it won't be able to dock at the keyboard.

I just got it today. It got a little bent in the process of getting to my home in the mail.
I'd say a nice decent case. Due to the bending, it seems a bit odd to look. But fit is perfect and snug. All functions and keys are accessible. Camera holes are visible with no blocking.
Charging Port
Are you able to charge the TF while using the Sikai as a stand?

thinnest case so far?

ive been looking around here and amazon trying to find a thin(and i mean as thin as possible) case for my TF. I see these roocase and same ones from a different name but they still seem too bulky for my taste. Curious if anyone else has seen something.
Not worried about material used or drop protection.
I use the sikai case since 2 weeks and I am very happy! It 's thin , but I don 't know if their are thinner cases!
The ASUS one is the thinnest I have been using. I think its basically the same or only a MM thinner than the sikai but its more money and I dont know if it can be built much better.

I'm on a quest for something of the same design as the sikai or the official asus case, but allows for docking....
The strange thing is that the official Acer iconia case is pretty much the same design, but is open at the bottom, but it stays in the case fine because it's such a tight fit. Hilariously enough, the Transformer, which actually has a keyboard dock, is closed at the bottom and so doesn't allow for docking.
Surely it's not that hard to do this?

The Roocase Slim-Fit can be found under different maker is even less money. I just ordered one under the brand poetic (I think) for a about 20 bucks.

thanks for the link. that does look right up my alley. Kind of wished it had a pouch for a cleaning cloth too but meh. Had to order a new bag for work so ill see how it fits and base my choice off that.
looks magnetic. i see no straps or "snaps". Compass interference is important too.
Hoepfully the compass thing will be a non-issue in the next update. I am currently on the ASUS case with velcro but I previously had a magnetic case that my girlfriend is now using and it never caused a compass issue until the 3.2 update. And its obviously the case because the moment I take it out it works fine.
Something changed to really increase the sensitivity of the compass, hopefully they dial it back it bit in the next update. Honestly though, its amazing they have a compass that sensitive in it, Ive got some higher end equipment for camping that doesn't detect that small amount of magnetic interference.

Adonit jot - the best capacitive stylus in existent

I highly recommend it. It is by far the best one out there. Way better than the new dagi p602. It's incredible. I'm amazed how much better it is than everything else I have tried.

A lot of people have been asking about the conductive grease. The following is the one I use and it works great. Also cheap.
http://www.amazon.com/Gardner-Bender-OX-100B-Anti-Oxidant-Compound/dp/B000BODU66/ref=pd_sim_e_16
You can also find conductive grease at local hardware stores, like home depot. Just ask an associate. I think you can get one as cheap as like $1.75.
Where do they sell it? The website only shows preorders
Also.. what's the different between jot and jot pro....is it just the grip?

You can "preorder" to order right now. Someone's been too lazy to update the website.
The only difference between the jot and jot pro is the pro has a magnet for you to stick it to the ipad. For our purposes, just get the jot.
I've been using it. Holy cow, it feels 99% like a real pen with ink. It's incredible how good the damn thing is. Insanely accurate, too.

Just never mind. Go with the typical fat-ass rubber tip. Or even better. Go get an ipad.
I tried a few different stylus, but on the TF these stylus' did not perform anything like a pen.
I realized I am looking for a digitizer, not a capacitive touch stylus, which are two different technologies.
I am looking for a "dual" tablet, with capacitive touch and digitizer.

I own half a dozen different styli, including the dagi p500s and p600s. My problem with the dagi is that they all go dead in about 2 months. I had this happen to me to several dagi styli, and I'm not the only one who has experienced this.
That said, the biggest plus about the adonit jot is that there's no friction between the stylus and the glass. It really does feel like using a pen.

Return your Transformer and get the Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet. It has both capacitive touch and a digitizer, and an optional keyboard dock.
Having owned a tablet PC in the past with an actual Wacom digitizer, there is no comparison, even with the best capacitive stylus that money can buy. Don't waste your time with capacitive-only devices if you're going to be doing a lot of work with handwriting or drawing.

Well, might I dare say that your experiences with capacitive styli in the past never included an adonit jot, since it just came out just now?
I've worked with a wacom digitizer before, too. Trust me on this. There's a reason why I posted this thread. The adonit jot really does feel like a real pen. And might I dare say that it actually feels better than a digitizer.
What puzzles me is why no big brand names have done enough research to come to this point before. We had to wait for this no-name company to have done enough research to provide us with something as wonderful as this.
I know, you probably don't believe me how good this stylus feels. Try it. I'm not kidding when I said this feels 98% or so like a real pen. The response and accuracy are simply astonishing.

It's not about feel and accuracy, it's about additional features built into the pen and digitizer. Capacitive screens don't offer pressure sensitivity, and the pen only has one business end. Arists and designers need pressure sensitivity and at least an "eraser" end on the pen in order to do their work quickly and efficiently, and it's even better if the pen has some built-in programmable buttons. The Adonit can get the job done for the occasional doodle and handwritten note, but some people rely on a pen for 40+ hours of their week, which is why digitizers exist in the first place.

You're right, of course, in this respect. I should have have said for all intents and purposes of a capacitive device such as the TF, the adonit jot stylus is perhaps the best option for hand written notes and art works.
As far as responses and feel, I still say the adonit jot feels and gets a better response from the tf than the digitizer pen I have worked with in the past. This really is an amazing product.

Best capacitive stylus?

I've been researching on amazon, YouTube and etc for a good stylus for my future prime. Since I never purchase a stylus before and have no clue which to get can you guys recommend me a good one? From personal experience...
Jot Pro and iFaraday

Thanks i'm interested in the iFaraday but it seems like they aren't taking any order till the 19th. Which one have you tired diesel?
I just received my Jot Pro yesterday and so far I am liking it a lot more than any other stylus on the market (and I have tried quite a few). Very accurate, and feels great in your hand.
My only grip is that I wish it had a clip to 1) keep it from rolling off the table if you forget to "dock" it with the magnet, and 2) so it could better sit/clip to a shirt pocket.
Aside from that minor annoyance, it is a quality stylus.

I feel like this would have to be written specifically into whatever app you're writing on-- ignoring the first thing if multiple touches are registered or something along those lines.

I would like ot have this functionality, but am worried about the multi touch thing. On this I think I will wait for a few reviews of the note taking before I grab a stylus. I have read an article that said that palm canceling was baked into ICS along with other stylus features, some of which will require hardware.
I hope it ends up working like it does when using a digitizer.....how I wish the prime had digitizer hardware! Per pixel accuracy and no palm/hand issues, along with erasing.

I would be careful with those. Friend got a cheap capacitive stylus for his phone, and it's sticking to the screen. I bought a fancier one (kingston I think), and while I have my complaints, it glides MUCH better on the screen.

Writepad has palm rejection. Also for other apps - hide your palm in your sleeve so it doesn't register as touch.

I'd cancel your Boxwave order and get the jot pro. Yes it can be noisier, but it writes 100x better. SMOOOTH and accurate. Seriously, there is no comparison between the two.
Does anyone have the Jot or Jot Pro stylus, and if so, have you had any issues with scratches on the screen or diminished accuracy after a few weeks of use.
Is there any metal that protrudes from the plastic disc that could scratch the screen?
I have seen several comments in other places where people have said the Jot stylus has scratched their display (Amazon has a commentor that has posted a photo of the scratches caused). And I have read that the accuracy is not as good after a few weeks use.
I have done some research and contacted the manufacturer (which replied very quickly). The explanation seems to be that dirt on the screen can cause the scratches and that the plastic tip can get loose/worn out. Apparently there may have been some defective tips early on.
*****
This is an excerpt from my email to Adonit:
I really want to buy a Jot Pro but I am apprehensive to spend $30 if it is
going to scratch my screen, or if it is not going to work as well after a
couple weeks of use. These issues seem to be common in review comments I
have read online.
I read one review comment that said there is "a metal protrusion in the
center of the disk. It’s very noticeable." I thought the disk was plastic.
If there is a metal protrusion I can see how it could scratch the screen...
Have these issues been resolved since the Jot and Jot Pro were first
introduced? If so, what has been done to resolve the problem?
I have a tablet with gorrilla glass (Asus Transformer Prime) on order, but
even with gorilla glass, I don't want to chance scratching up my brand new
tablet.
Please advise. Thanks!
*****
And this is their reply:
We have tested our product extensively, and the precision disk has proven to be very safe, even after prolonged use.
However, a sharp piece of sand or grit pressed very firmly between the Jot disc and the screen will probably scratch it, so take care to maintain a clean iPad screen. If the screen is not clear of debris, it will become scratched with the use of any stylus, or even just your finger.
We don't want you to worry, so if you think it will be a problem for you, we highly recommend that you use a screen protector to protect your screen from environmental dust and grit. Please be aware that Jot does not work well with the following screen protectors, due to their extra grip surface.
* Zagg Glossy Invisible Shield (but Smudge-Proof Invisible Shield works well)
* Ghost Armor
* Bodyguardz
* Skinomi

Glossy protectors are the least compatible with the Jot. We suggest looking at the Power Support Anti-Glare screen protector; we've heard that it works brilliantly with the Jot.
We are here if you have any further questions.

Anyway, I thought the info in Adonit's reply would be useful regarding screen protectors, etc and I really would love to hear from Jot or Jot Pro owners regarding their experiences with it.

Stylus for TF300t

Hi,
I'm expecting to get my TF300t this week. I see it being used for note taking and such during my meetings. Can you please suggest a good stylus and a note taking app?
Thanks!

as far as app wise goes, your tf300 will come pre installed with supernote which is an awesome app. stylus wise I dont know too much about but this look promising http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/hand/hand-stylus
as T_VASS says, supernote is very nice for note-taking. and is designed with a stylus in mind.
I got a very nice weighted stylus in a walgreen's for about a dollar, if that helps at all.
it's pink.
My favorite note taking app is Lecture Notes. It is available in the market. As far as styluses are concerned, I have had good success with the Caseen stylus with the mesh tip. Very little friction on the screen and good accuracy.
Found a couple of styluses:

The question still remains- which one to choose????
I picked up a Vivitar stylus from Office Depot. Overpriced - yes. I had a return and store credit. Haven't used it for long but it's buttery smooth.

Hope this helps.

Does anyone know if this work for Android tablets as well?
Hi all,
My understanding is that all of these will work with any tablet. Obviously some will be better than others, but all should be functional. Bottom line, if it says it works for a tablet, you should be good to go.

Looks ok but i can't imagine why such a simple thing as a stylus pen should cost 20 eu. I bought one for 5,90 eu. Even that is way overpriced.
note taking app
I haven't tried the Supernote app installed on the TF300T, I've been using Evernote and am extremely happy with it.
If you want more than the ”metal tube with a rubber end” type stylus, which IMHO should not cost over $5, try the Jot. I liked mine so much I got the mini for my phone.

I have a dagi p507 It worked great until I put the screen protector on my pad. T_T it's been getting better though, since screen protectors tend to lose the rubbery feeling after a couple of weeks.

I have seen the Adjoint pro and was impressed, but sadly it is out of my budget. I'm trying to keep it under $20 and looking for canadian sellers just because of accessibility.

I got mine from ebay a couple months back for $13. Here's the link to the company's website
Since the tip is made from plastic it gets a lot of friction from the screen protector. It has gotten better overtime though, not as good as using it without the protector. Also be careful when using it, some ppl say that it will scratch your screen, it hasn't happened to me though.
That Dagi is as much or more than the Jot. At least on their website.

I'm using the free one that came with the HandHeldItems Screen Protectors, for being free it works great!

You can still get an Adonit Jot and NOT go over $20. The Jot Classic is $20 shipped. I'm not allowed to post links yet but the website is cellmacs.com
Of course you're going to be giving up a little bit like the magnetism and the rubber grip, but as a stylus it still functions like the rest of the Jots.
Thanks guys....the adonit pro is about $40 in Canada. I'm leaning towards Kensington Virtuoso...seems to have got good reviews.....
