[Q] SGS2 Fast ROM & Kernel Combo (5333 Quadrant) - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Had my new galaxy s 2 for a little over a week now, tried many combinations and this is the best I have found so far.
Anyone have a better combo/quadrant score with SGS2?

I have had better scores with 'ninphetamine-2.1.3-release' kernel on the same ROM of around 5800 but when I activate wifi the device crashes and loops? any ideas??

Can u post a link too ur kernel?

I am using this kernel with GalnetMIUI and the phone restarts when I enable wifi. Seems to me that this is a kernel bug.

Which one? I am no longer experiencing wifi crash with xcell kernel. Ninphetemine works with 2.3.4 but I can't seem to find a ver as light weight as 2.3.5 devnull.

Haha, I only use this setup for benchmarking, it dose get rarther warm . Running oxygen 2.2.2 for everyday use. Nearly perfect apart from volume glitch.

As for the performance scaling I have had better results using ondemand as it gives you the ability to change the sample rate.

*sigh* people still rely on quadrant scores... i thought its been covered that it isnt accurate for dual core phones --_--.

As for when you enable wifi it reboots. Its because its not meant to work. Its a ****ing miracle it does. Its built for samsung source roms not aosp.
And dont base things on benchmark scores, they mean litterally nothing

Sorry I was refering to the thread on the inaccuracie of quadrant scores for dual core phones, I have since downloaded CF Bench and scored 8496 with same setup. How on earth are people getting 90000+ with same device also at 1.6ghz??

Is the kernel from the OP going to work on cyanogen? 'Cause I wanted to give it a try, but since it was originally thought for MIUI I'm not sure about it, even though it works with DevNull.

I belive it dose but will have the wifi bug.

There is no way to go up to 825 with the existing module... The phone hangs and reboots immediatly... Most phones works fine on 729 and 748...

BTW: That was awesome fast!
Superb. But i think we are talking about useful oc no only for five mins. You can overclok everything to its limits but you need good tools and sources for that . And oc is personal device side cos every device will overclok in individual way

exactly It was totally only experimental and for proving to myselv, that it was possible Running a stable 749 mHz
My X10 Mini can only go to 748 before freezing on me.
825Mhz ???
It freeze on boot & restarting ...
my phone can't reach 729Mhz only stable at 710
If you want higher freqwences just change voltage of battery this can help because phone could restart depending od the temerature of device smaller voltage =smaller temperature

how could i change voltage battery????
Someone already posted small tutorial in the forum i saw this in the big x10 forum. And learn to use the high and mighty search button.

Your phone will be hanged and then u need to reboot it and remember in setcpu dont save the profile to set on boot.....as u will have very less time on startup to change it back to 729mhz....coz this is highest frequency.....if u set the profile on set on boot and OC to 825mhz u may need to update software ........
Sorry for Bad english

Am not sure about other kernels working with Darkyrom as i'm using the Super Core kernel that came with the rom which i know doesn't support overclocking.
You'll see when you get you phone that it really doesn't need overclocking as it's lightening fast already

LeoMar's rom for the personalization and mods that are very simple to install with kernel speedmod! GREAT
I can only recommend Villain ROM (very close to stock, works like a charm) and the speed mod kernel. My phone is very fast and the battery consumption is great.

[INFO]Post your AnTuTu benchmark result!

Hi there!
I've just tried AnTuTu benchmark tools and it seems better then quadrant.
So, I'm curious, what do to guys get in total score when you run default (all) test with AnTuTu?
It would be fun to compare and see if there is any big differences, maybe between firmware?
So I'm gonna start.
First test with a total score of 6511:
{

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
And then used "SystemPanel App / Task Manager" and closed inactive, background and running apps and got this:
Second bench with use of SystemPanel a total score of 6612:
The only notable here was the CPU integer, as expected because less apps - higher integer.
Running fw Norway generic. 73 - all stock.
Some results from other phones:
Samsung Galaxy SIIII - 10000!
HTC One X - about 10000(!!)
Galaxy Note - about 6300
Google Nexus - about 6100
GSII - about 6000
Optimus 2X - about 5200
Moto Xoom - about 4750
Nexus S - about 2400
Wildfire S - about 1050
(note that scores varies from kernel to kernel, f.ex: SGII with Siyah kernel 1.4ghz gives about 7400,
overclock, sd-card speed also plays in)
So what do you guys get as result when running AnTuTu benchmark?
(please upload screenshot if u can)

Why not? The results varies every time when running the benchmark. Some new apps may be open'd from last time u bench'd and that will affect the result.
Also if you copied something to the sd-card, that also affects the result.

It only gives you a overall scores that you can compare to other results so you get an idea where your phone is on the global phone scale.
Yeah, it should not be any problem.

The question was about being on stock I believe. Why is rootyourphoneandflash suggested? Not everyone wants to root and flash.

Its quadrant for Christ sake. When has this app ever been uaed for real world benchmarking?!. No benchmarking application can compare to real life usage. If its smooth in real life, who cares what Quadrant says???

the only validity of benchmarking is for you to compare your phone when flashing between roms, and that is dubious at best,.......don't worry about them, gauge your phone on how it feels

Benchmarks are a tool that run a series of tests no more no less . Phones and software/ apps/ firmware vary their is no true test as no phone is the same .
Suggest if you are not happy with your score .
one backup data and factory reset the phone .
still not happy return to seller/ service center
jje
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
for me I don't care about the benchmark mark at all
even you get the highest score did you very happy about it ?
and just enjoy your phone, don't think so much
Every single phone performs differently and its due to manufacturing. Also hot/cold temps can effect performance. Generally, the colder your device is the better.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Technically, your phone and your friend's should have the same firmware since you're probably in the same country. And this means that your benchmark scores should be quite similar. A 1200 point difference is a bit too much.
So in short, there might actually be cause for concern.
I would suggest that you wipe everything and see if it still persists. But if your phone performance is unaffected, you could just as well ignore it.

Stock CPU settings.

Hi.
I've recently flashed Resurrection Remix ROM on my S2 on top of Siyah kernel latest version.
Im pretty satisfied with it to tell you the truth. There is only one thing which I find the stock ROM better. That is gaming. Im talking about big and heavy games like GTA3, 9MM, Fifa12, Hot Pursuit and so.
Here in RR rom they tend to lag meanwhile they worked flawlessly in Stock rom.
I think it has to do with the CPU settings.
So im asking those on stock rom who are rooted to tell me what are your default settings in Set CPU or whatever app you use to overclock/underclock.
My default settings are like in the pic here.
