Before you downgraded, did you turn on debug mode? If not, then pull the battery, put it back in holding the back to go into flash mode and flash back the kernel upgrade, put debug mode on and then proceed to do the downgrade. When you downgrade, wait till the phone starts up, it will be stuck on SE logo but just click root on flash tool since it will still recognize the phone. When it's finished, do a battery pull, repeat what I told you before about entering flash mode and flash the kernel upgrade. Should boot fine after that, congrats, you're now rooted, you can then install xrecovery.

Thank you i will try that yes i have debug on what version of flashtool should i use ? i saw root before and finished the steps but xrecovery never became visible and i had it working before it said i was rooted but superuser wasnt there i will try now what you said to do thanks !

Its because you have to run the upgrade file afterwards before it will boot

Please answer this question, what the heck did you downgrade, I hope you just downgraded the kernal.
What method of rooting did you use?
But first, what is your phone's:
firmware: 2.1 or 2.3
baseband
do you have xrecovery
If you would like help, I and others are willing to help you. Just post again and I will post links of the rooting method and guides to flashtool.
It happened to me... I was trying to install Jerpelea's latest 2.3.5, and suddenly my phone keeps rebooting from SE logo.. I can go into xrecovery, but when I try to recover a backup, it says it can't mount the sdcard...
What can i do?
Is my phone ruined??
Tks..
Have you installed latest SE adb driver?
Unplug your battery about 3 minutes then plug it again, use flashtool to flash 2.1 firmware, then connect it and press back button till green light appear, let it alone till finished.
Root your 2.1 fw, install recovery, and simply flash wolf 2.3 ROM, unplug your battery, plug it again and flash baseband 71.
Now your phone should be boot properly.
You almost cant break your X10 by flashing anything, cause bootloader is locked.

You cant ruin it mate.
Just install your recovery again, try with apk.
I think you have old recovery, cause this problem appear when gb just released, and now fixed.
You can find topic about it on X10 android development forums, Z already fixed it.

Ok, but the problem is: I can't start the phone, and the sdcard doesn't mount properly so I can recover a backup....
How can I install de recovery again without starting the phone?
You're right, I had the old recovery installed...
EDIT: And now I cant even go into recovery... It's fully stuck on SE logo... Damn!
Turn phone off. Boot pc companion. Goto update service. Click update. Says no phone found. Click repair option. Follow steps on screen. It will flash latest SE firmware. Root. Install recovery. Restore your backup on your now mountable sd card. Done you can't break this phone, can always restore through pc companion.

Flash stock firmware from flashtool, if you dont know about how to use flashtool.
Just go to x10 android development forum, find thread about flashtool by androxyde.
Dont be so worry about your phone, you cant break it with flashing ROM or kernel.

It's basically got the bootloader coming up but the system isn't there. Flashing it with Flashtool will fix it.

Just flash the phone back to stock and reinstall back the custom rom there's alot of guides out there on how to do that.
Just flash the phone back to stock a reinstall xrecovery an reinstall the custom rom.
i tried flashing it with the flashtool but it says usb debugging must be on aswell as unknown sources - (but obviously you need to turn the phone on to do it) so im stuck again -.- ?

Flashtool DOES NOT need USB debugging and unknown sources to flash firmwares. It only needs those to root etc...

[Q] Rooted phone gets stuck at SE logo

I just rooted my phone using this method, which has been succesful for me earlier.
Everything went fine, and I didn't do anything except for what stated in the post, but when I tried to startup the phone, it gets stuck at the SE logo. Not the text logo, but the logo after the colorfull animation and with the picture logo above of it.
I removed the battery after waiting 10 minutes and I tried again, with the same 'result' (or failure as you wish).
And, yes, I have used the Neo file, not the Arc's. My Neo was running on the latest 4.0.xxxx firmware before rooting.
Should I try:
reflash ROM?
relock bootloader?
flash another ROM
????
Edit:
When charging, the phone also won't get past the green logo, and the LED is not on.
Edit²:
Fastboot mode working, so flashmode if necessary also I guess.
Now retrying from the neo_modded.img
Edit³:
Didn't work, now reflashing stock 2.3.2
Reflash 2.3.2, root with Gingerbreak and update OTA to last 2.3.3
FIXED
now on stock 2.3.2
But, this is XDA, so let's try to flash a pre rooted ROM I just finished downloading.
Hello,
With an unlocked bootlaoder you can flash the 2.3.3 firmware, then install DooMKernel from recovery . That seems Root, Recovery and an Overclock option with the latest stock rom
Phone is working, now checking if rooted.
It was quite easy actually:
flash generic 2.3.3 with flashtool
turn on USB debugging and select device Xperia X10 in the flashtool
in the top menu, click root psneuter
turn phone of, and flash relock bootloader Xperia
update your phone to 2.3.3 using PC companion or SEUS
Hmmm, sure this worked for me once, phone now won't get past a black screen witch lit background, flashmode working. I'll retry.
Fixed, but phone not rooted. I'll leave it this way, non-rooted.
Unlock bootloader. Flash 2.3.4. Flash rootxperia and u got the latest with root. No overclock yet for 2.3.4 but it's all good.

Which firmware version?
Best is to reflash everything and wipe your phone during the process.
Download the X10 flashtool.
I'd recommend this method (only if you have an unlocked bootloader) it's very easy.
here are some additional instructions considering flashtool

Hello All
This is a guide to install the latest version of Android 2.3.4 - MT15i 4.0.1.A.0.283 Global on your NEO and install root access.

1. Backup your data. (Just in case!)
2. Download the FTF file from here:
http://www.multiupload.com/DGV8GLT1TP
(Thanks to sdk16420 for uploading the update files and thomasafca for making the FTF and uploading!)
3. Flash the FTF file with Flashtool. Unselect 'wipe user data' to preserve data and settings. (You can get flashtool from here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1000012)

I don't know what firmware, i just know that it's a MT15a...
Which firmware should i use?
I just flashed with the latest 2.3.4 firmware and it's working.
Now i would like to know what tutorial to follow to root my phone with this firmware and don't brick it.
Also, I unlocked bootloader before i flashed, so i don't know, it's still unlocked?

yes, it should be still unlocked.
One : since you unlocked your bootloader, some music add-ons in the stock player won't work anymore, same for TrackID. Replacement for TrackID is Shazam.
Two : DO NOT accept over the air updates, only update using PC companion or Update service on your pc, else your phone will be unusable.
So, here's how to root 2.3.4. It's very easy if you know how to flash.
All your data will be saved, but best is to make a backup just for sure.
Note: just copy the zip to your sd card (when I tried it first, I unzipped it. Had no experience with clockworkmod)
Good luck!
I'm having the same problem. I'm on 2.3.3, unlocked the bootloader, and then flashed rom from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1281489. What should I do?
Flash back to stock 2.3.3
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=QS4A5A7F
I had it too, you can't do anything about it, except cyanogenmod.
Thats my expericence

need help - Mini Pro Sk17i Bricked

Hi everbody
I tried to install this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1707876 but when I finish the instalation, the phone just bricked at the sony ericsson logo. I realy need help. :crying:
Sorry for my English.
Is your bootloader unlocked? Did you install the recommended kernel? Did you wipe what had been asked to be wiped in the thread? Did you wait for at least a few minutes before concluding that your device is bricked? Did you attempt to enter CWM and try to restore a backup? Did you try to boot into CWM and install another ROM which had previously worked for you?
All those things needs to be done before you can call your device a brick. It is no where near to brick I suppose.
Anyways, if nothing works, try to flash any official firmware for your device using flashtool.
Also, check the First Aid thread that had been pinned up in this forum.
Thanks,
Rick

it happens to me if ur phone can go to flashmode... then u can always flash the original .ftf files for mango... or u can also use wotan client... it also hapens to me when i acidentaly flash wrong kernel...
i hope this gives u any idea....
Don't worry It's not bricked, it just wont load the OS (ROM). If you have locked bootloader, then flash official firmware through PC Companion (SEUS), if you have an unlocked bootloader then flash the official firmware (ROM) through Flashtool which you can find here, and you need to download appropriate ROM for your device which you can find here. Hope I helped.

If you can enter flash mode, then use flash tool.
Unlock bootloader, install custom kernel, install the ROM once again and you're done.
No need to install stock ROM first, if your target is installing the custom ROM.

Please flash the unbricking ftf (link was posted by xhanafix) and afterwards the stock rom ftf again.
And NEVER EVER apply updates over the air again! Flash them with flashtool or use custom roms!

KA09 Xperia SSpeed - bootloop

Since I'm not able yet to post into the development forums:
I have decided to finally mod my Xperia S as well (did that only with HTC's before), and after unlocking the bootloader and slap Advanced Stock Kernel on it, i wanted to flash KA09 Xperia SSpeed. At first it all went well, no errors during installation but then i wanted to reboot, and the phone went into a permanent bootloop. There's the Sony startup screen with the Advanced Stock Kernel writing underneath, the blue LED flashes shortly, the phone vibrates, then it starts all over again.
I have tried SEUS but to no avail, since the phone will always restart, hence disconnecting to the PC. I also can't boot the phone into fastboot or recovery, or anything for that matter.
HALP!?

hold the power button + volume up then wait till it vibrates 3 times, your phone will power off. then you can use the SEUS, i think its via fastmode (power+volume down) to reflash or u can use flashtool to reflash ur firmware.
this is what i did when im stock on bootloop before (because i dont have back ups).
1. installed flashtool
2. download ftf
3. paste the ftf on c:\firmwares\
4. open flashtool then click the lighting icon, choose fastmode, choose ftf and wait until it says (power off phone then connect via fastmode), since your phone is power off all u need to do is to connect the phone and then hold the power button+ volume down.
5. then it will reinstall your firmware.
6. after reinstalled, flash advanced stock kernel.
7. then make back up of your rom so you dont need to reflash your firmware in case of bootloop.
now that was a quick reply, thank you very much. will try this and will post how it went!

it will work because ive been there before
I was flashing ka xperia kernel (via recovery) over Advanced stock kernel and got this weird bootloop.
Sometimes i couldnt even start the freaking phone. So what i did was when the phone finally started and the botloop started i long pressed Vol Up and powerbutton for about 5sec (after the phone vibrates three times) so it would shut down, since i could not enter fastboot while it was bootlooping. Then held Vol Up (not Vol Down) while plugging in usb, only then i got to enter fastboot.
Then i only reflashed advance stock kernel (ics9.elf) and it finally booted back.
Might be helpful

Use fastboot and try flashing Advance stock kernel forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1729280 and see if its booting
Sent from my LT26i using xda premium
When you go from STOCK STOCK you should first prepare by doing a backup and then erasing everything before even trying to install a custom ROM or another kernel.
When you install a kernel that has recovery, before trying to install the custom ROM be sure to wipe data/factory reset and then wipe dalvik cache and fix permissions.
Then you can install the custom ROM and after that be sure to also install the patched KA09 zip.
And even after that, remember, that is a development ROM not completely stable at all.
