clockwork has an option to "toggle" or turn off signature verification. i'd select this option and the ROM should flash.
hope that helps!

I dont see that option. how do you get to it?

cwm main screen -> install zip from sdcard -> toggle signature verification
make sure when you select that option, it toggles the signature verification. make sure to toggle the status to off.
hope that helps, good luck!

Now, im just getting installation aborted.

common causes for this error are: corrupt ROM downloads or flashing a ROM designed for a different phone or the ROM is scripted incorrectly.
recovery provides more details around the specific error in /tmp/recovery.log
the easiest way i use to access is through adb shell
Code:
cat /tmp/recovery.log
if you want to paste the log file up here with the error, we can help you troubleshoot.
hope that helps!

Try a different recovery. TWRP is what I use and seems to be alot better than CWM

Do you think me not being able to get into recovery mode thru boot might have something to do with the problem?

i wouldn't think the issues are related but it is really hard to say without having physical access to the device what has or hasn't been done.
simple method for access custom recovery:
when you turn on the device with volume down + pwr, it should boot to the white screen, bootloader and present a few options. when you select recovery, it should boot into the custom recovery.
when you follow these steps you don't get a custom recovery? which step is there an error on? what is the error? can you screenshot?
the more detail you're able to provide the better we can help troubleshoot!

When I get in the boot menu and try to go into recovery it doesnt it just reboots the phone. When I first get in boot mode I see some alot of green text and it says sd loading no image PB86DIAG.ZIP and some other stuff

interesting .. the green text and search for the *diag.zip files definitely indicates you are in the bootloader.
my guess as to why it doesn't boot into recovery but reboots the phone must be the error handling. not sure what the exact error is as it doesnt seem to give any output to you.
sounds as if something *might* be corrupted. the best steps at this point would be to reload a custom recovery.
let us know how it goes!

Rom Manager just Released a Updated version of on the market, Try downloading that then ReFlash the Recovery... Also Try to Toggle Verifications like someone else Suggested to you!

A custom recovery like rom manager, etc.,? How do I flash a custom recovery using rom manager?

I flashed cwm recovery using rom manager and toggled the verifications and still cant get into recovery mode. I can however get into recovery if I use the terminal on my cpu

Is there anyway I can start from scratch and re-root my phone?

Not possible to install cwm recovery via ROM Manager

At first,I get S-Off via Revolutionary tool! Then I flashed "cwm-4.0.1.4-shooteru.img" via fastboot and "su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.zip" from sdcard.
But after downloading and install ROM Manager from Market it wont let me install
the new recovery img!
Phone freezes or get off and only boot to the HTC splash image.
I also tried to flash "su-2.3.6.3-efgh-fixed-unsigned.zip",but same problem.
Only solution to get phone working again,I did restore the backup of my
stock ROM!
Anybody have same problems with ROM Manager?

I'm on a CDMA EVO 3D and I ran the revolutionary s-off process.
I would think the process would be the same between the CDMA and GSM versions, but I could be wrong.
I've seen on his twitter feed he has been making updates to the recovery. I had no issues opening the app, pressing download latest recovery and then pressing reboot into recovery. Worked flawlessly for me.
Does ROM Manager download the new recovery properly? Does it say it flashed the new recovery successfully? Does it reboot into the new recovery?
Which part of the process is not working for you?
The more detail you can provide the easier it'll be to help troubleshoot!

I am guessing that you have a GSM phone since you have a Deutschland flag? I don't think that the CMW recovery in Rom Manager works on GSM, only CDMA. There is a recovery in the GSM section that is based on the CMW recovery. If I am wrong, let me know.

Boot into recovery menu works with ROM Manager, but can`t download
and install the newest cwm recovery!
The statusbar of downloading and installing the recovery shows always 0%

Maybe the mobile network is the problem, because ROM Manager says we should
use Wi-Fi connection!
Is there a way we can download the image of Clockwork separate from using ROM manager?

@ganii
i had the same problem when flashing cwm to my evo 3d gsm. phone froze and had to do a stock restore.
you mentioned that it requires wifi to download correctly? did you by any chance try that?
Can`t test Wi-Fi connection,at the moment no internet at home
But I flashed official recovery-clockwork-4.0.1.5-shooter.img and
recovery-clockwork-5.0.1.0-shooter.img to my phone via fastboot
and no ones works.
So I think clockwork recoverys only available for cdma EVO 3D at the
moment.
Only recovery which works for EVO 3D gsm,I think,is
cwm-4.0.1.4-shooteru.img,which made by Revolutionary.

Hell yeah. Thanks a bunch!
go to koushs website and get the recovery image from here

Download Android commander here:

In android commander select phone at top, flash, recovery and choose the clockwork recovery image, simplest way. i've had to do this with multiple phones that would not flash clockwork through rom manager, even on og evos oddly enough. hope i helped!
TimidRat: I tried to do this, but I am not exactly sure how to flash the recovery from Android Commander. I tried to to highlight the image and click flash but nothing happens. Am I missing something? Thanks!

Anyone having success in installing Clockwork manually through the Terminal Emulator? I installed the flash_image file, placed the image in the root of the sdcard, ,su'ed, entered flash_image recovery /sdcard/clockwork.img, but for the life of me it won't recognize the file giving the stupid no such file error. Grrrrrrrr....
What's bugging me is that this is how I did it for 2.3.3 while I was rooting it. Makes me want to throw something.
Not tested yet ,but why you don`t flash it as "PG86IMG.zip" from sdcard
via booting into bootloader?
Example attached:
Appreciate the link Ganii, but I enjoy doing it manually. However, I did find a substitute method that will install it without leaving the native android GUI. It's joeykrim's flash image gui app. It's pretty good and works great.Makes me a little bit lazy, but it'll have to do until I find a blog.so file.
Help me please some one. I am having a similar problem with my EVO 3D CDMA. I rooted via HTC method, install CWM, ROM Manager and every thing was fine. ROM Manager got a updated to flash latest CWM to 5.0.2.0. Didn't notice anything at first, but when I try to boot into CWM my phone just reboots itself instead of recovery. So I'm guessing I don't have any type of recovery. Someone please help me fix this!!!! Also one more ?, I am kinda new to all this I had a blackberry before getting the EVO 4G then move on to to the 3D anyway if I run the RUU will that erase my SD card?

[Q] ClockworkMod Recovery - failed to verify whole-file signature

Hello! I installed a mod for my Samsung Galaxy SII so I could overclock the CPU to 1.5Ghz. Since I'm new here I can't post the link to the tutorial I followed. But you can just search "Samsung Galaxy S2 how to overclock to 1.5GHz" and select the search result from "androidng". I don't think it matters anyway. It says that I have the kernel version "2.6.65.8-I9100XWKDD-CL161513 [email protected] #59". Now I want to install CyanogenMod for it and I've already downloaded ROM Manager Premium 4.8.0.6 and flashed ClockworkMod Recovery which removed the default recovery mode from Samsung / Google. But when I try to install the ROM from my SD card in the recovery mode it says "failed to verify whole-file signature". Is it possible to get rid of the ClockworkMod Recovery and get the stock recovery back that enable me to flash over USB with Odin. It seems like a lot of people have that error but I can't find any answer to solve it. Someone suggested to disable signature verification but I can't find it, I think it is in an earlier version. Will the "factory reset" option in the menu reset everything to Samsung's stock ROM without the recovery mode and will it backup files, settings and apps? (Probably it is not working either because nothing on that menu works except restart)
Sounds to me like you still have stock recovery, you're not going to get CWM recovery from ROM manager.
I don't know what the CWM recovery is but I'm sure I don't have the stock recovery. The stock recovery from Samsung don't have that menu that says "Android System Recovery <3e>, on the stock recovery it says "Downloading... Do not turn off target" and has a big Android image.

Yes, yes it does. What you're describing is download mode.
Ah. I thought the volume up did the same as the volume down. I started the phone in downloader mode now but I still don't know how to get rid of the "failed to verify whole-file signature" error.
Considering you're trying to install CM7, read the FAQ thread in this very forum carefully. One of the first instructions is to flash a specific kernel which includes CWM recovery.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1176411
You should flash a cf root kernel this will give you all you need including cwm manager which allows you to reboot straight into clockwork recovery.

I'm having the same problem. Here's what I did though...
I rooted with CF-Root and then flashed back to stock Kernel and root has remained. Now when I go to boot into CWM Recovery I get the "failed to verify signature" error on the screen that says Android recovery <3e>.
Is it because I flashed back to stock Kernel that this is happening?

Where in the instructions to install CM7 does it say to do anything with stock kernel or CF-root kernel? Hint: it doesn't. Follow the instructions to the letter, they're not there to look pretty, they're meant to be followed.
Also, a 5 second search would tell you that Android recovery 3e is not CWM recovery.

I had the same problem bought ROM Manager expecting my phone to reboot and CM7 would install but it dosen't well not the first time anyway. You need to install CM7 manually via Clockwork Recovery, once CM7 is installed you can then use ROM manager to install other ROM's but since there have been no nightly builds from November it seems that ROM Manager was £4 down the drain.

Something is odd with mine then. I've flashed every XW and XX frankenstein ROM and each time I did the kernal flash dance in order to remove the warning triangle. When I flashed the stock kernel back in, I always lost root. Superuser disappeared and Tegrak overclock gave me the error that root access was not available each time.

I don't have the same recovery mode as the following method.
The method you linked to would only work if you already had a custom recovery.
You have two options.
1. Go to the Android Market and download Rom Manager and install recovery from the app.
https://market.android.com/details?...yLDEsImNvbS5rb3VzaGlrZHV0dGEucm9tbWFuYWdlciJd
2. Or go here and use the instructions.

I personally recommend option 2. Also, you might need to do some research on the matter as I have read that there is a file that needs to be deleted under certain circumstances. Not sure where though.

Do you have Clockwork recovery installed on your phone? How are you trying to install these custom ROMs? Are you using ROM Manager?
You don't need root to flash a Rom...
Get Odin
Get an Odin flashable version of cwm
Flash said recovery with Odin
Boot into recovery by holding all the buttons till you feel a vibrant and letting off the power button, or the adb command: adb reboot recovery (or since you have root, download a terminal emulator from the market enter the command: reboot recovery, then Grant superuser permission.)
Then Flash Rom in cwm...
Old version of TWRP maybe?
To run the ROM Manager I needed root access. I tried to load the ROM from the ROM Manager and also straight from manual recovery mode.

That is stock recovery 3e...
Go read my post above...
THIS IS A LINK TO CWM TOUCH...JUST CLICK ANYWHERE HERE AND GET THE ODIN FLASHABLE VERSION
You do not need root to flash a Rom... Rom manager is not needed, and in fact just causes more problems than is worth
I don't think ROMmanager is even capable of flashing anything on the note. Someone correct me if I am wrong
You're correct...i wish that app would just go away and be erased from people's memories.
Actually i don't think Rom manager has worked on any Samsung device since eclair...as froyo was when they introduced 3e recovery, which requires signed update.zips, which only Samsung has the signature tool for.
So the update.zip Rom manager downloads to flash cwm with just gets stuck at "E: signature verification failed"
I'm still getting errors I'm going to search on youtube some more and see what could possibly be an issue. I go in with Up+home+power and erase everything I can in there and try to load from .zip and errors.
So I got it to work. I didn't really do anything differently except put it on my external SD card instead of my internal.

[Q] Unable to flash custom ROM

I did find a lot of threads but i didnt get any answer to my question.
I was using a 2.3.6 stock Atrix 4G. I decided on getting the cm9 so i unlocked the bootloader using the following link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1182871
as i am using the newer version so i was advised to run option 1 of the script( click the link to see the script) and then option 3. I did option 1 and then my phone got stuck in unable to boot and then i ran option 3 and just pressed enter and my phone booted. So i didnt advance on the script and closed the script. Now my phone says UNLOCKED at the m logo while booting.
And then for rooting i used the following link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1769497
i did get some errors while using the coding( as i had typo error) but then after two reboots and trying i got the success on my cmd window.
but i didnt get the same command promt text as upndwn4par( see the link) got. Still i anyhow got success. I checked my apps and super user was indeed sitting there.
After unlocking and rooting i downloaded rom manager and also downloaded cm9.zip file into my sd. Then pressed flash CWM and then also made a backup for my stock ROM and then pressed download from sd card on rom manager , then it asks cleear cache dalvik and backuo. I checked all and then my phone reboots and gets stuck in the ANDROID GUY with an Exclamation mark inside a triangle. I also tried reboot with recovery in ROM manager but the same screen.
I have mentioned all my steps. So please guide me where or what am i doing wrong?
please help , cause moto ditched me and i want to ditch moto's software.

I don't think recovery is installed properly. Try to fastboot flash recovery.

What do you mean "did a little of installation"? You either install or you don't...
