or can it only be done through ODIN?
Thanks in advance.

As far as I know, no. I wouldn't even try it myself but I think if the file is not cwm flashable, it will be rejected and no damage.

It has step by step instructions.
You don't like using ODIN??

ODIN ?????
ODIN is flaky as hell! I used ODIN for many flawless flashes with 0 defects until disaster struck 2 days ago, doing something as simple as a modem swap, trying to improve my data and signal acquisition! On Axura 2.3.1.0
Heimdall's program is supposed to be more reliable, but the true shining star for doing
Tar's is BayWolf's Toolbox 2.5 It not only got my phone back into running form by
restoring it back to Eclair 2.1.1 then re-flashed Axura 2.3.1.0 [I couldn't get back into restore or DL nothing] but it was the only thing that allowed my phone a USB connection, ODIN or Heimdall's would NOT!! Had this program not allowed me a USB connection, I'm not sure how I would've done a restore, JUST saying this program is the ****, and if you have a tar file to do use this program!! Instead of ODIN acting like a mad ***** and making you wish you had never had messed with her!
Ironically though it does use ODIN , but with way more control over it, if you screw up you can go back and redo the phone while its still connected and start over again, as opposed to resetting ODIN and hoping for the best, and risk losing USB connection when doing so!!
I have no pc so that's why I said cm7 is out of the question 4 me

so i installed the second init apk on my phone two days ago, and since then when i reboot it its almost like the fastboot on my wifes inspire...i have ginger blur 4.5 installed and whenever i reboot it doesnt go all the way to the red m when i reboot it goes straight to the green one and reboots very fast. did i do something wrong or what?
Ive got the same thing...hmmm

I have the same thing
Sent from my MB860 using XDA Premium App
Yup. Mine goes straight to the animated Droid blue eye.
so is this good, bad, or does it provide any open doors for future hacks?
I would assume that any increase in boot time would be a good thing haha.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA Premium App
I noticed the same thing. I never put 2 and 2 together I was planing on a sbf flash so I wanted to try the 2nd init install before I did. Weird
is that a good thing?
I think it is skipping the bootloader and kernel on reboot and just rebooting the system partition. If I understand it, that's how we would load a custom rom.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA Premium App
Please read what 2nd-init is before just haphazardly installing it. There isn't anything out right now that currently uses it on the Atrix, so unless you're developing you shouldn't really bother with installing it.

Ok cool. Sorry Sheathunderboilt wasn't trying to be a jerk. I was just starting to wonder if the confusing wording of the questions was intentional.
Anyway, I think your going to have to provide a little more info before anyone can be of much help.

Troll I may be ugly but I'm no Cop if thats what u asking homie,& thanks loon!!& sorry my question are off!!! but this is simple i can't into recovery via Rom manager which I deleted !!!!!! Cuz the new update put me in this Hole

Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
Have you tried turning the phone off then holding volume down + power untill the bootloader screen appears and then manually selecting recovery? ROM Manager tends to have issues.
Sent from my HTC Thunderbolt
Yeah I did do that!& when i do the HTC pops up and goes right back to boot loader

reinstall rom manager and flash one ot the older cwm like the 4.0.1.5 not the 5.x.x.x
Try reflashing Clockwork recovery by following the instructions in this thread. It sounds like your recovery got screwed up or wiped out somehow. Use version 5.0.2.1. I think the version 5 issues are fixed in that one. If you still have issues try using one of the version 4.x ones.
Sent from my HTC Thunderbolt
Thanks guys I did it and got my phone and just FYI version five don't work on my tb so I will stay away from ROM manager!!!!! I still couldn't do a back up in recovery cuz it says error on restoring boot image ,once!again o beloved my SD card corrupt

Update via wifi. It will show right up
Not quite... I downloaded it and tried but the update fails. Can't figure out how to get the detailed error message people have shared about it.

Go back to build 154_5 by flashing via RSD and try updating again.

When it gets to the Android guy and progress bar hold down both volume up and down at same time.
Just an FYI....according to the Motorola Forums there is an issue with the latest update which isn't allowing some to take it successfully, even if unrooted/stock. Sounds like there is a fix in the works. Best bet is to either do the SBF or flash to older stock and try the to take the update.
**Edit.....tried flashing to Juggs update.zip (154_5) and still couldn't take the pushed update which tells me there might be something wrong on Moto's end. Anyways, gonna SBF to 154_5 just to make sure and then try again. If official doesn't take gonna SBF to newest version (same thing anyways).
**Edit #2...SBF'd back to 154_5. Was able to take both updates pushed to the phone successfully and am now on 198_6.
Thanks CCallahan, glad someone knows what they're talking about. I guess I will have to wait for the next one, don't want to fuss with ROM flashing.
