The reason i am asking for these is because a while back i had bricked my phone. I had restored using stock telus files in odin. Now, samsung kies wont recognize that i need the new update Not that kies would work anyhow.... my wife has a stock phone (exact same model) and kies recognizes the update but freezes and disconnects, blah blah.. If anyone could help me out here it would be greatly appreciated! i have the sgh-t959d
thanks, mike.

So, they are are retards because they can't assist in helping you upgrade your phone from an unsupported firmware version? If you yet still upgraded after TMO issue the warning about JI5, then that was even more unwise.
Visual Odin Guide (use Odin v1.3 instead, though) ...c'mon even a caveman could do it!

Question... I've installed Kies Mini and when I connect my phone all I get is this
MODEL NAME: SGH-T959 (mobile number)
FIRMWARE VERSION: Unregistered Device
FIRMWARE UPGRADE: [shows nothing]
Phone upgrade button is grayed out
help please?
Are you using the stock TW Launcher or something like ADW or Launcher Pro? If you aren't using Touchwiz try switching back to it & try again. (I'm just speculating on possible cause here based on issues I know others have had.)

I have no idea what you mean bro... when I hook up the phone to the usb the option shows me to choose Kies Mini so I go ahead select that and then I launch Kies Mini App and I get that message... if you can help me a little bit more with detail I would appreciate it
thanks
Nvm, just read your other thread. You have the update already if you got it OTA. Froyo is not available yet for the Vibrant.

I have a GT-I9000 and I just got myself a new vibrant from tmobile yesterday. The guys at samsung really doeesn't make it easier on a customer to upgrade their phones, do they !??
After some tinkering, it seems I got the drivers working but the Kies mini sees it as unregistered device. I'm on the same boat as you are. If there is a froyo update coming tomorrow, then we should be receiving an upgrade for kies mini as well which should solve the problem. If not, then we'll need to go to the tmobile store and ask the guys there about this issue.
Most of the people here will be talking to you about rooting and odin and other stuff that you as a noob have no business doing. I've cooked my own roms and put in some custom roms as well in my I9000. Don't bother with all that. Just wait till the update comes out and then upgrade your phone.

You can find the correct files here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1319802
You should reflash stock, then flash passion.

It's good that your phone is working again, but you need to be very careful using kies: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1517406
If you're modding / flashing custom roms, It's really best to avoid kies. If you'd had a GB bootloader when you used kies your phone might be bricked now.
I have an rooted At&t phone that is also sim unlocked as I am using Tmobile I have rooted so that I could tmobile while in its 4g area but I don't live in a 3g/4g area so I don't care to have this anymore and want to return back to stock rom it came with and having the most difficult trouble I tried so far about four roms that said to be stock and for the most part are but I still have root access and with that Kies won't allow me to update to ICS and also I need to do a restore from Kies because of some important things that I backed up so any TRUE help that will get me back to being unrooted and stock at&t rom would greatly appreciated I've added a screenshot of the rom I'm using which isn't truly a stock rom thanks in advance to anyone who can point me in the right direction to fix this.
Have you tried Odin using one of the stock roms posted on the dev forum?

Yes Ive tried several roms but now I'm on GB and Kies now says my device doesn't support updates through Kies
This thread has two methods to accomplish the task ...
Please read well ....g
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1740367
Edit :
Use Odin to perform the restore ..
You'll see the odin method described in the above link .
Kies will not update your device due too the presence of privileged commands...(root )
Odin is the only method to return the device to full stock , and allow kies to recognize it ....g
I've been trying to update my i777 to ICS for the past few days, but Kies grays out the feature to update and says update through Kies is not supported by my device. I've tried over-the-air updating, but it says my software is up to date. I have no clue what to do. Also, I tried rooting to flash a custom ROM and get an update like that, but that doesn't work either. Please help.

Same thing happened to me but I was able to root and then flash a ROM. I'm pretty sure I used some version of odin to root it but I can't be for sure.

I've sorted it. The problem was that I couldn't root because my computer didn't properly recognize my phone. I rooted and flashed task's jellybean aokp onto it, working better than ever. Thanks for the help, sorry for not making myself clearer on OP.
