Can't install Crackle on Sprint Photon - Motorola Photon 4G

When I search the Android Market for Crackle, it doesn't show up. If I link to the market app from crackle's web site, crackle shows up but there is no install button. If I select the browser-based market instead, it says that crackle is not compatible with my device. Any idea what gives?

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that crackle may not be compatible with the photon

Yeah, thanks for stating the obvious. But it seems odd that an app written for Android 2.2 and later won't run on this phone. I wonder if they have chosen to only allow the app to be installed on phones they have actually tested?
Sent from my MB855 using XDA App

Apps like that tend to have to be compatible with the phone as well not just Android. For example, Netflix first came out and slowly kept adding phones to the list and now is fill 2.2/3 supported. Now this is the downside with picking a phone that is not the "popular" choice even though in my opinion is the better one. Apps like that will get their compatibility for the popular phones first, like Evo 3D. I recall apps working for the Evo 4g but I would have to wait until they fixed them for the Epic.
Hopefully for your case it will be soon as maybe they will do the Bionic and Photon together.

Netflix available in market

Just noticed it when running the blue sea version. Said update available and brought me to the market. Haven't tested it. I'm happy with the nodded versions.

I have seen this mentioned somewhere else and several people stated that once they deleted their modded version and installed the market one it no longer works. I'm just going to stick with the one I know works.
I removed the blue version and went with the market version and it runs fine. I don't have issues in my wife's phone neither...

Does the one in the market let you rotate the phone either way. If not, its useless for me. Need the charging port on top, so I can charge while I watch.
It was officially released today for 15 new devices.
Glad to see it working now.
I'm still keeping the modded version of mine...And is it just me, or does it seem like there are more movies available online then there are on the app? Also, it no longer applies to me, but how come you can't order DVDs with the app?
does anyone know if this market version does 1080p over hdmi?

Nope. I downloaded the update from the market like a week ago and mine does not rotate. Only plays one way. I guess I can just uninstall the update?

I liked my modded blue Netflix app, I'll stick with this one for a little while longer.
I dont think the market version has auto rotate for watching videos on either side

Gta 3

So I wanted to buy the game from market, but it's saying it's incompatible with photon in my market. I know that's not true because my friend bought Gta from the market on his photon, and even the notes say it's for the photon 4g. My question, is the market recognizing my device incorrectly or how can I fix this? I'm stock and rooted. Markets updated, I tried clearing updates and market cache already.
send me a pm.
I'm playing it right now and its almost perfect. Minor glitches are to be expected though. Still plays like a dream...

I have 4 epics linked to my gmail and 3 of the 4 are compatible but the Photon isn't. Its a rock star glitch on the market
I'm just stock rooted (locked bootloader) on the latest SBF.
The game was developed on a tegra 3 so tegra 2 phones should all work. The photon was supposedly tested before release and again it works great for me. I purchased the game from market.
Edit: I forgot to mention I'm running the latest market that hasn't been pushed through (released) by Google yet I think it's 3.4.4 etc blah blah.
I know it works, I've tested it on other photons and there's no lag at all. Just aggravating knowing its on other photon markets but not mine.

What market version are you on? I can give you a link to the version I'm on if you're not already on 3.4.4. And yes, that sucks that you can't get it.
When I search GTA III, I get 3 different one's from Rockstar, only one shows compatable. Try looking at all 3 in market until you find compatable version.

I have the same version lol. I search for Gta spelt out and other items appear. I click on a shared direct market link from a friend and it says incompatible. When I go to market on pc browser, it says it's compatible with my photon from November (before I factory restored) but not with this one. Nothing changed, both stock, both rooted, same accounts. Never ran into this problem.

I read about gamepad support, has anyone figured out how to configure this? i'd love to make a sixaxis ps3 work.
There's a clumsy app called Sixaxis Controller which emulates screen presses. It's far from good but it's as good as it gets right now.

Gta 3 game review + market fix

I was expecting overheating issues lag and crappy controls but no its runing smooth 0 lag and kind to the battery too. 30 mins of playing = 10% battery
The phone does get warm but nothing even close to high temps or overheating 38.4C after 30 mins O.O
This fixes market I hope.
1. Download the stock T-mobile rom from : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1308078 (Version doesn't matter)
2. Open the zip file go into the system folder and copy build.prop
3. Place the file somewhere on your sd card.(remember where)
4. Clear data from Settings > Applications > All > Market
5. Download and install ES File Explorer from the market
6. Launch ES File Explorer. Enable both Root Explorer and Mount File System under Settings > Root Settings..
7. Navigate to /system. Here you will find the build.prop file. Take a backup of it by copy-pasting it to your SD card.
8. Replace it with the one from step 3 (the one in /system)
9. Reboot & try to find the game in the market.
10. Let me know if it worked.
I've been playing it quite a lot of on my Amaze as well.
Great so far, but I have noticed some slowdown in certain areas, especially when driving into multiple cars at a high speed (probably due to the physics)
Controls are nice too. Shooting is a little difficult, but it was like that 10 years ago. Great game, worth the five dollars

Did you have to change your build.prop to download it? It is showing as not compatible with the Amaze.
It won't even show up on the market for me
Does anyone know what can I do to get it? I really want that game so if I have to change something in the build.prop like it was mention then I could do that I just dont know what part to change.
there are couple versions of the game just make sure you type in grand theft auto 3 and you should find the right 1 that's the 1 I download
Im runing quicksense 1.5.1 maybe it has a masked build and i can see all of the versions dunno

No luck.
I'm pretty sure the developer of the ROM you're using made some changes to the build.prop because I can't see any version on the market.
I'm rooted but running stock ROM
I have a friend using htc sensation and he can run the game without any problems .he is running stock rom and I'm guessing it should be released for h t c amaze pretty soon
the only other thing I can think of is this application called market enabler ive used it before but not on the amaze so I'm not sure if it works
Sent from my HTC Amaze 4G using XDA App
Alright, I'll give that a shot
Well, neither recommendation worked so I had to do something I don't like to do and only do in times of suffering....I had to Google the apk lol.
I agree with most of you. The game is smooth but when you're driving and there's lots of cars around and/or raining it does get a little slow but overall It's a great game.
I'm sorry you couldn't get the game started I really don't know what else you can do at this point.on the other hand for everybody else got the game going there is a graphics enchantment patch
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399258

You completely misunderstood me.
I said that I already have the game but I got it from googling the apk since the market wouldn't let me buy it.
It runs smoothly for me as well. Sometimes its choppy but that is rare and only when i'm hauling ass in the banshee. Great game for the amaze.
With chainfire you should be able to install nvidia tegra games
I sent rockstar an email they got back to me that they will have there tech department test it on some amazes and verify it runs fine and add the amaze to the compatibility list.
Sent from my HTC Amaze 4G using XDA App
ok i think i figured out why it does not work for some people but for others it does
i just flashed beastmod 2.whatever latest ver. and tried to install all of my apps back.
i got all of them except gta3 so i went to the market trough my pc and looked it up clicked install and it made me choose a device - HTC Ruby (grayed out) HTC Amaze (compatible) and some older phones. So... im assuming the htc amaze is my first amaze that was broken and i returned it so that leaves me with HTC Ruby. then i went into the build.prop and saw that the device was marked as HTC Ruby not HTC Amaze. Even though its the same device the market does not recognize Ruby.
So this could be a solution but im not a dev so cant be 2 sure its gonna work.
I need a stock Htc amaze 4g build.prop so i can swap it out with the one that came with Beastmod.
I was on quicksense and it didn't show after sending the email to rockstar and getting there reply just a couple hours ago it showed up in my market again I did nothing else nice

Grand Theft Auto 3 incompatible with Evo3D? (Sideloaded Market v3.44)

Just moved to the evo 3d from a nexus s 4g. The device had an older market on it for a couple days without an update so I loaded the latest market, v3.44 I believe.
Anyway, Im being told that GTA3 is incompatible with my device. Is this due to the market I installed, not being original? Asking because I guess I just assumed that this particular title would be compatible. Thanks!
yeah they made it incompatible even though it runs great on it.
you can either download some app, i dont know what its called.. something like market unlocker or something that tricks the market to download things not flaged for your devices..
some people bought it on their 4G, TI-backed it and restored on their 3D and some people did the google thing, either way it runs well.

WebOS removal?

Is anyone working on a way to remove WebOS completely from our devices? I mean for those of us who have no desire to retain any part of the system, nor use it ever. It seems like an awful waste of space.

I think this will be done once we have a very stable port of android running.
Right now webos isn't taking up that much space and its nice to have a backup just in case. I'm with you though in wanting to eventually remove it completely.

I believe it needs to be there for Android to work. Plus a lot of people like it including dalingrin

I believe dalingrin stated in one of the earlier release notes for one of the alphas that he does not plan on finding a way to remove webos entirely (He likes it, and it can serve as a backup in case android turns to poo). But who knows, maybe some dev will find a way, only time will tell

I just see no point in keeping it. I haven't used it since I got cm9 on my TP. Also it would be nice to only boot into moboot with a button combination, like recovery on other devices.

I have a few questions.
What are you putting on your touchpad that those ~2 GB are such a big deal? Also, if space was a concern why didn't you buy a 32GB model. I have 8 of the 10.5 storage available, and 1.1 of the system 1.5 free. I have all the apps I could want. Until last week there was no point putting movies on there, but now Netflix works I don't see a point anyway.
You can change the moboot delay to 1 sec (changing the delay to 0 will remove the auto boot, it just sits at moboot). Is a 5 second delay really such a big inconvenience every time you power cycle the device? How often are you power cycling the device anyway? At my check before I installed alpha 2 I had over a week of up time. I see no need to reboot the device unless I am flashing something.
While I almost never boot into webOS since CM9, I still see the value in a back up OS. And webOS is an elegant, smooth, intuitive experience. It would be one thing if CM7 was the back up, then i would be all over removing it. Yeah, the webOS app selection is bad, but so is tablet optimized android app selection. A solid web browser is 80%+ of my use on the TP. webOS had better browsers than gingerbread.
I just don't see the point of a new "how do I remove webOS?" thread every two weeks. Especially when the resounding response is generally "why?"
Sent from my Galaxy S II (i777)
I have a 32gb version, and with no expandable storage every gig on that thing is precious. IDK about you, but I have wayyyyy more than 32gb of music. Also as long as we have an ability to boot into clockworkmod, there is absolutely no reason to retain a "backup" os as you call it. As for power cycling my device, it just depends on whether or not I want to save battery; or if I encounter a bug (like touchscreen unresponsiveness or SOD).
IDK why, but to me this seems like it should be a trivial task to streamline this into a full fledged android device at this point. Also, I wasn't aware there were any threads about how to remove WebOS, I looked at the main page and expected to find one but didn't. Ergo, this thread.
Not trying to be rude-
I was forced to see this thread when I tried to open a new thread titled "Remove webOS":
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1453930
A search for "Remove webOS" also found that thread in the general section and the following in just the first page of results on the Q&A forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1461517&highlight=remove+webos
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1490575&highlight=remove+webos
I found those with less than 5 minutes of searching on xda.
A google search returned this as the first result (searched "remove webos"):
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/8571-anyway-to-remove-webos/
Again, I know this sounds condescending, but it's frustrating to see this question constantly. Maybe it's because on the Galaxy S II forum we are flooding with the same questions at least weekly; "How do I install an i9100 ROM?", "Where is ICS?", "I installed a i9100 ROM without reading the instructions, my phone is acting weird".
You weren't the first to ask this question, and you won't be the last to ask it. I bet we'll see another thread before February is over. Outside of the threads dedicated solely to this question there has been a lot of discussion of this topic. On twitter, Rootzwiki, and here on xda. There is more to it than just a penchant for webOS. I am fairly certain the android system could not function without some of the webOS architecture or files. I cannot find where I saw that off hand, but I am pretty sure that currently it's not possible, even if some of the devs wanted to do it. I didn't respond with this the first time, because I could not find the source.
I also have much more than 32GB of music. But with Google Music, Pandora, Slacker, and other similar apps I don't see the need to put music on my device. If you played all your music non-stop how long would it run before repeating? Days? I only have 500MB on my phone because there is no need for an artist discography when I only want 3 of their songs.
CWM is not a backup OS. It's a utility. Yes, i have never borked CWM, but if you have too many moboot entries how can you fix that from CWM? You can't. You have to either be in webOS or Android. When switching from one ROM to another often both entries are there, and for me more often than not neither will boot. I just get boot failures. Without webOS I would have to use webOS doctor to completely wipe the device and start over, and reinstall android completly fresh. This happened to me at least 5 times in the past two months.
I posted from the android app, you don't see suggestions of similar threads.

That brings up an interesting point. How did you get the xda app to run on the touchpad? Are you using tapatalk? I could not get the xda app to run on any CM7 or CM9 variant. Judging by the market comments the xda app doesnt run on any tablets, even legit ones.
Personally for that reason I don't think the mobile app should have the ability to create threads. Also the search function on the app is beyond useless.
