Droid x vs eris.. any thought among my fellows .. fellows is a funny word. I know about the thunder bolt.. btw.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA Premium App
Well I've played around with Droid x a lot rooted a buddies for him and install liberty rom Im pretty sure Droid x isn't supported by cm7 so if you like cm7 your out of luck. I'd rather have Druid x over Eris for the memory speed and ram. But I'd rather stick with HTC. I don't jnie what I'm going to do with more then 50mbs of ram extra when I get a upgrade in November haha. But luckily we have get devs to keep the Eris running smooth and kepping up with the times with 2.3
Sent from my ERIS using Tapatalk
Yeah. Love Eris Dev ppl. I'm running liberty now. And no cm7. But would like this raw power and cram it in an Eris problally the perfect phone ty for the feed back its a little disconcerting going to a new forum. Even after the 1.5 years with an Eris.

so it's been a few months since the last thread regarding how the atrix is.
I currently have a Inspire 4G and I'm debating on getting the Atrix.
You own it, I want to know about it! What do you think? Should I make the switch?
The answer to your question is entirely subjective.
Was it ever bad? Debuted a super phone?
Sent from my MB860 using XDA Premium App
It was good when it was locked, now that it is unlocked it is turning into a behemoth. Just wait until you see a polished CM7 rom on this thing.
it was never bad, otherwise this forum would be desolate.
If you are willing to unlock and flash custom ROM, its a beast.
If you have to live with the stock firmware, there's probably better options out there, unless you really hate 4.3 form factor.
put it to you this way the locked bootloader was why alot of people didnt care for it but the bootloader can be unlocked now and the custom rom train is going to pick up steam, as some one else said cm7 for one thing
It's better than the Inspire that I owned.
Don't listen to what they say in the Inspire forums. The Inspire isn't the best AT&T has and the Atrix is a lot better than what people think. It's a very nice phone.
Not trying to put the Inspire down at all--I just know because I've owned both of them. The Atrix beats it and the Nexus S that I have...

Honestly, it was never bad. As a stock device that was incapable of installing kernels, it was good. I still found myself using my Captivate while the bootloader was locked. Now that there's ROMs and kernels available, I haven't touched my Cappy at all.
wow! I wasn't expecting that many responses so fast!
I want to root the phone, play ff7 (of course) and ENJOY the phone.
I put a custom rom on my inspire so I don't see why I wouldn't put a custom rom on the atrix...
Trying to get the inspire back to "out of the box" state so I can return it.
The only issue I have with the inspire is running fpse and ff7. little laggy at times. hoping the dual core will remedy the issue.
hell, it's the same price and you get more internal memory, hdmi cable, and a better CPU..

I've never had any lag on any emulator I've tried. I don't think I've lagged once in a game.

Atrix is the best phone i've used, honestly. I wouldn't trade it for anything, except maybe SGSII.
Sure, it has some bugs and issues at the moment, but those will be fixed or bypassed eventually. Atrix has a great dev community.

Mine doesn't ever get hot.
The only time mine gets warm is if it's hot outside and I use GPS.

The only time my phone gets hot is when I'm using it with the car dock, where it's charging, playing Slacker/Pandora/Google Music, and sitting in the hot sun.
Anyone know how many Arias were sold and any estimates for how many may still be in use? Just wandering about what the market is for continuing the rom upgrade work for this phone.

I still use it as my main phone. I flashed munjenis cm9 ROM which is working great for me. I just bought it two months before the Desire C came out, so I want to keep using it for at least one year. Maybe then something better comes up, who knows?

I got it in the beginning of the year, so just like dansou901 I wanna keep it for a while. I love this phone and I hope it gets support for a little longer.
This is an awesome phone for my first Android!
You're right, it's awesome, but it is only Arm v6, so it won't be compatible to newer software...
Sent from my Liberty using xda premium
I just like the small size and it's elegant design. I am also impressed with how the rom developers have been able to keep it current with ICS and now JB. And particularly how other developers have overcome the memory limitations with programs like S2E. Just what is the appeal of a 5" screen?
Sent from my Aria using xda app-developers app
I still have 2 Aria's, one with CM7 and the other with CM9. I love what I think is the prefect size of these phones. It's too bad HTC hasn't built another similar sized phone with more memory and processor power.
Guys. I recently exchanged my iPhone 5 for a droid DNA thru craigslist. I am coming to android after almost a year and I was hoping to root and install sense 5.0 roms. So after doing the swap at the verizon store and finally sitting in front of the computer to start the s-off and rooting process I discoverd after an hour of unsuccessful attempts that since I am running software version 2.0.65.xxx I won't be able to unlock or root. I got the phone with that software and from my past experience, just assumed that everything would work out.
Since there is quite of bit of topics and items involving this device, I just wanted to confirm my understanding that there is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY to root the droid DNA if its running 2.0 version. Correct ?? No downgrading with an earlier RUU possible either. ... correct ?

At this point in time there is no way for you to root your device.

Does anybody know how long have we had the 2.0 software? Has it been unusually long to go without an unlocker procedure? I can't imagine xda devs not coming up with an exploit ever, but it could take a while I guess.

From what I heard they were stopping asking for beta testers, so that usually means they have enough people testing.
I couldn't wait and just bought another phone. It might be weeks or they might not be able to unlock full functionality.
They had to wait for HTC to release the source which is why its taking so long.

You said thru CLs? Restart the phone holding VOL down to boot into fastboot, what does it say at the top of the screen? tampered, unlocked, locked? If you are lucky maybe someone rooted and unlocked before the update. Just saying, if it was me I would check.
Someone wanted an Iphone? LOL
I *think* I remember reading one of the devs mentioning that new things were encrypted on the ota and that is causing some problems getting supercid. Since I read it really late at night when I was drowsy I cannot remember where I read it.

Well, what can I say..I got tired of the phone already.. gave it up.. went back to an iphone 5.. (I guess it's about time I changed my username..LOL)..
I really wanted to like the DNA.. but I can see HTC hasn't done much in the last 2 years with the OS. Too bad
p.s. Anyone who is wanting to buy my lightly used droid dna phone (along with box and case etc.) is welcome to ping me.

Not 3 days. I am not new to android. I come from the line of OG droid and then droid incredible and then thunderbolt. I've actually written codes for various Roms before and also done quite a bit of theming. I just got to a point where I couldn't devote as much time to developing anymore. I had switched to the iPhone after the thunderbolt and found it refreshing and appealing to my engineering sensibilities. I recently came back to the android world via the droid DNA. Unfortunately it just doesn't click with me anymore. The gigantic screen, the unpolished OS and what a bummer it is to find out that even with a quad core processor, this phone lags and stutters at time. Don't get me wrong. I am not bashing android users. I just saying that the simplicity and refinement of iOS along with the practicality of a handy sized phone , just seems to suit me better.

Wizeguy highly recommends Nova launcher to get rid of the lag.
As far as liking one OS over another, it's personal preference and no one here will hate you for going to Apple. Maybe we'll see you back soon and you can do somethings for the DNA.
Im just getting a poll. I might start developing roms for this again. Just post in the comments if i should.

Yep! My daily phone since my Droid Inc 4G broke. Don't think I'm getting another HTC phone but that's beside the point. I'm using the Jelly Bean ALPHA CM 10 rom. It's extremely buggy. Usable, but extremely buggy.
Motorola Droid X2
Just got one for my wife on straight talk , running eclipse v 2.3
Just got 2 of them from my parents.
Upgraded the wife and myself from our OG Dinc's
Unfortunately it seems the Incredibles were better phones.
Even after rooting, running Eclipse, debloating and running V6 Supercharger.....these are the laggiest pieces of crap ever...
My wife says if she ever needed to call 911 she'd get on her computer.....go to the verizon website.....deactivate the DX2....re-activate the Dinc and make the 911 call on that....it'd be faster than trying to dial on the DX2....
But hey - the larger screen is nice....
Dan
better idea..
Or, instead of developing for this phone your self you could teach me how to develop ROM's for android and I could do it myself!
I have newer devices for work, but I still use my dx2 as my personal phone.

My DX2 rocks. CM7 if very fast...only 2 real issues are wifi dropping out sometimes and dialer lagging when dialing out a bit... Still a solid phone.
Yes...do it for Tracfone Users
This phone is getting a lot of interest as an eligible BYOP alternative for Tracfone Android users. It would be great if someone could help folks like me find a decent, cheap phone that would work for this network.
Is the phone really as slow and doggy as some have mentioned?
Tracfone BYOP requires a non-LTE CDMA phone...users are looking for larger than 3.5 inch screen with more than single core 1Gb processor...any suggestions?
My X2 is still in use. Running Eclipse and working great.
That is exactly why I bought my dx2, except for straight talk byop. I've found eclipse to be the most stable and feature inclusive ROM so far, and am really enjoying this phone even if it doesn't have ics, jb, or kk. Especially like that it's on Verizon - best coverage hands down in my neck of the woods.

Yes, using this phone daily. Just flashed it for the first time with eclipse 2.3 last night and I'm happy with the functionality so far.was hoping to see an improvement with battery life, and fix some issues I had with stick, and so far so good.
I am still using the X2 with Eclipse ROM. It does seem to be slowing down though so I'll probably need to reset it.

Where would be a good jumping off point for this phone? I have a friend who's stuck with it, and I've tried a few of the root guides but there's missing files, bad redirects, and just generally dated info. I just want to root it and probably put a slim rom, and by your review I'll probably go with Eclipse. I tried the zerg root but it threw an error that the phone was write protected. All help is greatly appreciated
