I know that the Dart is based off of the Galaxy Mini, which runs Gingerbread, and was wondering if there is any known way to get Gingerbread on the dart (which runs Froyo stock.) Is there an image of the Galaxy Mini I can flash, or a Cyanogen port or anything? I haven't really seen much as far as custom ROMs for this phone.
Yea any info for this phone will be great I got one and need drivers to work in xp or 7
I am also looking for info on a gingerbread rom for this and there are gingerbread roms for the galaxy mini which is the same device pretty much but someone has to code one.
what do you mean you need usb drivers, to turn it on to usb mode go to usb mode on the device, if you need drivers then you can use the galaxy s drivers from samsungs site

Yes, there is CyanogenMod running on the SGH-T499. Unfortunately the forums where it is posted are down at the moment. Mostly everything is working, there is the screen wakeup delay on incoming call, and the buttons at the bottom don't light up.
If you are planning on doing the network/sim unlock, it has to be done on the original rom, so might want to do that first: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1335548
I can't post external links yet, so here is the post that links to the other forums where the latest CM port is posted: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19936092&postcount=100
continue developing
ive noticed that development seems to have dragged to a halt on the t499 and i was wondering if someone would be interested in making a project out of this, perhaps continue developing on the cm7 that has already be started, or the cm9 that the thread has been closed on, im not too experienced in development on android but id be willing to help any way possible
I was hoping to find something here for my girlfriends Dart. Looks like I may have to tell her to get a new phone after having it less than a year. To bad. She loves her Dart. I was wanting to make it more enjoyable for her. I'm not a programmer but I can read and follow directions. If there is anything I can do to help, let me know. As of 12/14/2012 my Gf. still has the phone..

Hello:
I just would like to start this thread wanting to know if you guys know when Samsung is going to release Gingerbread for this amazing phone. Since the last rumors that I heard said on March, now were on May and still nothing from Samsung and on top of that SGS II is already on the market and I feel that Samsung will forget about us...
I appreciate all the effort that people has put to port Gingerbread from the international Galaxy S and I know that are a few bugs on those ports, and not all the people will run to install it on their stock phones, specially, since to get Gingerbread at this point they need clockwork or odin and some knowledge on how to do the process, and that will keep it away from the masses; but still thank you very much to all the people that's working to get it for the Vibrant
Finally I would like to say that this community is the coolest thing ever and thank you all for making like that, best regards.
This is a re-post of a question posed by naddie in the development forum. I was curious about something similar, and received some indication that the dev forum was the wrong place to get the question answered. Any thoughts over here?
"I'm starting to learn how to compile Android ICS from source, and thanks to Shen's tutorial, I'm starting to "get it".
So I do have a few questions before I get started.
1) Does the Nexus S and the Samsung Vibrant use the exact same hardware?
2) Can I use the Nexus S binaries listed here (http://code.google.com/android/nexus/drivers.html) for the Vibrant if question #1 is a "yes"?
I was going to buy a Nexus S or GNexus just for the purpose of learning, but if my Vibrant is basically an Nexus S, I say why not use it? It's not my daily phone.
FYI, it already has ICS Passion v9.2 on it, and has an FFC (I added it). I would just like to get started in compiling my own ROM for the sake of learning, starting a new hobby, and hopefully able to contribute to the Android community in which I have already benefitted as a ROM-flashing enthusiast."
Yep, that'd be me. Posting to automatically subscribe.
I went ahead and followed the steps of Shen's guide and currently compiling into an OTA package.
I built it as if it was for a Nexus S. Would I brick my Vibrant if I flash it?
If so, what do I have to do to make it a Vibrant specific ROM, assuming the binaries for the Nexus S works for the Vibrant?
Right now I'm thinking there's no way it will work just like that. Otherwise ICS for the Vibrant would have been a trivial thing for the more seasoned developers.
Even if it's something I can't do on my own, I'd like to learn how it's done. Anyone who can chime in on this, please do. Thanks!
*bump*
Anyone?
Dude, I think you and I are alone on this one... :E
the devices are a little different but what you could do is track down all the specs of the vibrant, chip set and everything and figure out what is the same between the 2, then you wouldnt have to port over as many binaries, also we have 3 ics ports currently so you should be able to take everything you need from those roms and build for the vibrant
I am fairly certain there is a way to do it on your PC to compile all the binairies, libs, modules,...and flash it through a type of dummy phone set up on your PC without ever touching your physical phone. It was in another forum that I am a member of. If you want more info on it, I can PM a buddy of mine about it. Not sure if it was a github type thing or some other repository and then you build your source on your PC and if it works great you can transfer to phone. If not, then no harm no foul and you find the problem.
You can pull up basic specs on NS and Vibrant on GSMarena side by side. That is how I decided on picking the Vibe instead. I am kind of a media whore and like the external sd slot. 14+gb on internal and 32gb sdcard is supreme storage.
I decided to do it proper, and found that the CyanogenMod github has the binaries:
https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_device_samsung_vibrantmtd
However, in the step where I run ./extract-files.sh (which requires the phone to be jacked into the PC and recognized by ADB), it copied files over, but had complaints of missing files.
Upon running lunch, it said it did not find a config file for the SGH-T959.
Here's the post I did on the Tutorial thread. No answers yet.
I appreciate the responses here, though.

I'm asking because I see development only for the 5.0 version
May want to search a little more.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1377771
This was on the first page of the development forum, 4th one down (not counting the sticky threads)
Edit: Wait...What are you talking about you only see development for 5.0? The tread I linked you to you have replied to multiple times. Are you really not seeing what you are replying to or is your memory starting to slip?
I own the 4.0 version and I like it.
I own a 4.0, but it is my first Android device, so I am still learning how to hack and mod. There is Steve's kernal, which is about it as far as rom stuff. Custom roms seem a little overrated to me; first thing people ask when they get a device is "what's the best rom?". In truth, android is pretty darn easy to hack, modify, and theme without any rom so long as you can root. I guess some people are just to lazy/busy to figure it out themselves, so they wait for someone else to put the modifcations into a rom for them. My motto is if "if you want something done right, do it yourself".

i couldve swore i saw you excited when someone mentioned a cyanogenmod port....
Yea, cyanogen would be nice, but I'm getting sick of people posting and sending pm to me saying "what's the best rom for this?" and "where are all the roms for this?" Don't get me wrong, roms are nice, but going on and on about them instead of making them yourself is pretty rediculous!

lol. its kinda hard to even learn how to. i know people and if i didnt my electronics wouldnt be so fast.
Ugh, I give up. You shouldn't be on a developers forum if your not willing to help develop!

just because i cant provide coding help doesnt mean i cant help! ive already helped a few people out with some problems they had
Good for you! Keep up the good work and we'll have a booming little community in no time! Sometimes I get a little bummed out about the lack of major development but, I'm still happy with my little player! Sorry about the explosion of wrath
MTP device error
Thought I would post this here in case anyone was having any trouble getting the Galaxy Player 4.0 (YP-G1) to connect to Kies using Windows (I'm on 7, 32bit). It was for a Samsung phone model but it works for the Player also.

Here are the instructions on connecting your Samsung Wave GT-S8500 phone to Kies.
1. Close Kies
2. Remove phone and USB from PC
3. Select Samsung Kies under Settings > Connectivity > USB > Samsung Kies
4. Press and hold menu button on the phone > select 'end all applications'
5. Connect phone to USB
6. Connect USB to PC (I am running Windows 7 64 Bit)
7. Windows will automatically install MTP driver and opens up its own window to manipulate the contents of the phone
8. Now start Kies --> it will now recognize the phone
Done!
sorry to revive this old thread but can anyone explain why the 4.0 gets very little development 'progress'? I mean I remember the 5.0 got ICS in no time and is already om jb. it had to do with sources and samsung...right?

Don't know if it's the 4.0 that have little dev progress or just you that haven't seen the news since quite a while ago... we have JB 4.1 and a 3.0 kernel is in the works.
Also to answer your question I think you seem to forget a little detail. We're only 2 (or more like 1 and a half) compared to the 5.0 where's a they're 3 or 4.
I know that and maybe I'm not remembering correctly but I clearly remember there was some problem with porting ics to the 4.0 while it arrived a year before on the 5.0 and it had nothing to do with people involved. But then again I might be wrong

Yeah because at this time, nearly no one was experimented enough to do it.

I own the 4.0, and like Zac said, there's been quite a bit of development progress the last few months.
I'll preface my post by stating that I'm fairly certain that no stable ROMs yet exist for this device; the only thing I've seen anyone running is CM7, and that still appears to be in development for the E-739.
That said, I'm coming to this phone (temporarily) from an HTC Sensation, which I love dearly. Going back to Gingerbread from a stable ICS ROM is frustrating, to say the least. The interface feels very dated, and I'm not a fan of the dock that LG implemented for the device. I'd like to be able to select which applications are in the dock, as with ICS. Ideally, I'd like to find a compatible ICS ROM. Based on hours of searching, one doesn't exist, but it can't hurt to ask.
So: has anyone had any success getting an ICS ROM on the LG E-739? Or perhaps a passable Gingerbread ROM? I really just need to rid myself of the ludicrous amount of bloatware that currently inhabits my applications folder... Thanks in advance!

Hello all,
Sorry if this exists already, I did a little looking but didn't find anything so I thought that I would ask. I bought the APC and while the system is nice, I was hoping that someone had done some development on new ROMs for this bored and maybe new kernals though I know the latter is a bit more tricky as they are refusing to release some of the source for certain modules of the kernal. If someone could point me in the right direction it would be nice. I'd just like to update mine so that I could take advantage of some of the new features in Jelly Bean in a project that I am developing at the moment. Again thanks for any help that you can give, and again I apologize for any repost or if this is in the wrong place.

some development...
VIA recently released a firmware update for the Rock from 1.0.0 to 1.0.1 on February 6. Not much of an update and no added support. USB GPS still a no go. lilliput 7" egalax USB touch screen still has the X and Y axes reversed. They did however change the default of ADB to use the USB OTG port instead of ethernet (thank God). I want to use this as the brain of an inexpensive Car PC. For that, I need the touch monitor and GPS to work. Is there ANY community development, or should I look to another platform?
