So i need to "hard boot it" in the volum up-power - menu area...
Anyone knows what to do and how to fix it?
But when the cable is in and gives power to the unit its starts normal and turns off normal.... and that rly starts to piss me off
So pls help a noob

that is the battery temperature warning.
For some reason the contacts on the battery may not be making clean contact.
Take the battery out and with a tooth brush clean the contacts on the phone and the battery.
reinsert and see if that solves the problem.

nope it didnt help anything

ay. called the place i bought the phone and they gonna send me a thingy to send it back with.. and they sayd they would fix it or give me a new phone. So cant rly complain then

update: Phone got not repaired or replaced.. The clame it was water damaged.. The usb/charging port that is so i got my phone back. they didnt wanna touch it couse they told me it would die sooner or later.. they could change the mainboard but they didnt wanna do it.. So i need to fix it my self. so i ordred a new usb/charging thingy and gonna replace it when i get it.. Ill update if it works or not (sry my sucky english)

Bro dunno but have I tried using a new battery? The symbol is a temperature/battery warning. Did I get it wet??
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App

nope. has not got wet at all... Even tho the repair dudes says it "water" damaged.. .Anyhow.. i ordered a new battery too. so first gonna test that before i change the usb part.

Get the battery cover, hold each of the sides with you're fingers and bend so the middle of it is going in ward, bend fairly far, now try, fixed my battery problem which was similar to this, also it would alsol think it's charging when it's not and constantly vibrate, I had been bending the back before and just realised when the phone was screen down it was fine so realised was loose, hope you fix it

just changed the usb port and now it works perfect again... even samsung people couldnt do that.. lol

well, you are the first person who actually fixed the problem. No one in all the forums I've been reading was able to identify or fix it.
Could you please tell how you replace it? are there any instructions or ¨comprehensive guide¨to do it?' I'm having the same problem too.
Thank you

No one like my fix? Worked for me? Also adding a bit of tape to the back of the battery worked

well. wasnt hard tbh. Just take apart so u get inside the phone. take of all "screws?" so mainboard is loose. then take out the usb board and replace it.. .should be doable without taking out the entire mainboard. i just "tipped" it upwards so i got the cable thingy out... sry about my sucky english.. U need proper tools to do it. cheap tho but the "screws" is so damn small. And yes.. my phone still works perfect.

hmm thing i posten a guide to it somewhere.. give me a sec..

[Q] X10 Mini Pro Touch Screen Problems

Recently my cellphone started doing this, all of a sudden, the touch screen stops receiving any input, and my phone locks, I can still use the keyboard, so I know the device is still running, only the touch screen appears to have the problem.
I was running under CM6 when this started to happen, so I tried re-flashing my ROM and nothing changed, then I restored my phone via SEUS, and still the problem was there, so I think the problem might be hardware related.
I've tried to mess around with my phone, trying to reproduce what triggers this behavior, and I'm thinking it has something to do with the hardware keyboard, as my phone does't lock up as easily as if I used the keyboard.
So, I'm currently looking for any suggestions (besides buying another phone for the time being) to bring my phone back to its former glory!
I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks.

Its probably the ribbon in the back, its better known as a "flex cable" of tiny cables connecting the motherboard and battery to your screen, if you can find a disassembly guide on the internet this can probably be fixed by buying the flex cable from Ebay... I fixed my old Nokia N80 through this method, it only cost me about 5-6 bucks.
When you open your phone appart, the flex cable should look like this...

I can't guarantee it will work but its probably worth a try.
I think i've seen a disassembly guide somewhere on the themes and apps part of forum.

Well alright, if the flex cable method does not work, your last resort should be changing the digitizer ie. the screen which can also be bought online.
Thanks to you all, I will try both and see if those fix the problem!

Detesto, keep us updated on how you get on... I hope you make it first time round. I've managed to find the x10 mini disassembly guide but not for the mini pro, there should be one out there. I don't recommend opening your phone without this guide btw, you can easy damage your phone all together.
Good luck.
Ooops!
Sorry guys! I totally missed replying to the thread!
I have a friend whom also had the X10 mini pro, and I tried with his ribbon cable and digitizer, and found out the problem was the digitizer, so I just replaced that part. That was almost a year ago... yikes!
The phone is well and running still, but I replaced my phone with the Optimus 2X and gave my xperia to my sister in law.
Thank you all for your help and sorry for the late response!

[Q] I bricked it. Any chances of recovery?

I think I'm the first to really bricked my two days old SGS2, haha..!
My phone had the Download Mode bug, so while trying to fix that according to a guide, I probably did something really stupid, and now I'm stuck with the black screen of death. Reading about JIG, I really feel that that is way beyond my knowledge.
There's really nothing else to do but to return the phone, right?

So, I opened the Samsung Micro USB contact, and it turns out that there's 4 and not 5 pins! Does anyone know which ones to use then? There's a red, green, white and black one.

You shouldn't have to mess up with pins.
A jig is a small micro-USB device that you plug into your phone while off, and it sets the phone into download mode.
Have you purchased one? Have you plugged it in? From the download mode, you can then flash an official or custom firmware.

Tried another USB which looked correct, and it worked!!! Amazing!!! You should see the smile on my face, haha!
So the next question, now being in the very sought-after "Downloading...Do not turn off target!!"-mode, what would I do next, should I find the original ROM somewhere and shoot it over via Odin?

i doubt its the game that cause this , it could be faulty to begin with
now im doubting that some problem related to chip or gpu as if the screen fails then why the fone couldnt boot into OS? it now freeze in samsung logo, i try flash stock rom using ordin but it also fails to boot.

Even most probably the GPU or a connector. Since he was playing I'd say the GPU is toast.

Why not? Even if it was rooted, they'll swap the logic board since it's nearly impossible to check anything on a hardware-broken device.
thanks all. i also think that its not the screen issue as the phone cannot boot into OS. will have to send to SS services to check.

HELP. No clue what caused this (gray screen)

I just turned my phone on and now all it's showing is a gray screen (see image) below.
Even when I pull the battery, it "boots" into this. After some time I do hear the booting sound.
The phone is unlocked/rooted/s-off'ed.
When I boot with the volume button down it does show something, but it's unreadable (only showing the top 1/2 part of the 1st text line)
Anyone here who might have a clue what is wrong, and how to fix it?
Thank you.

Try booting into the boot loader and see if it still does that if not your rom has gone corrupt. Superwipe and reinstall.

Looks like the LCD is damaged or the connection ribbon for the LCD is loose.
What everyone's said so far is right. Your LCD is either broken or has a loose cable.
Send it in for repairs.
I don't see why they wouldn't repair it even if you are rooted, as this is their flaw, not a result of your rooting.
But to be safe, try and flash an RUU on the phone, for now.
Thank you all for the input.
It's still withing waranty, and will be picked up tomorrow for replair!
It's still rooted.. Let's see what they are going to say.
Will keep you guys updated!
re: Will keep you guys updated!
Today I gmy evo back..
(I was away for a holiday , so could not get the phone fixed before)
They replaced the motherboard... It's great, exept that I now can not root the phone anymore
Why not?

Today I noticed that the compass and GPS are not working!
Compass is stuck at the North, and GPS does not see any satellites (tested outside)
HTC will pick it up tomorrow.. again......

S2 very hot

Hey guys,
recently my s2 died (wednesday). I suspect it was due to condensation.
anyway, today i put a battery in it after leaving it in rice, and it turned on.
however, the phone was hot, very hot actually and the battery life didnt seem consistant. eg. id put a battery in, itd say 80% then turn off the phone, turn it back on and itd say 9%. this is in the space of a couple mins.
ive got 3 batteries, and all showed similar things.

the above photo shows where the heat is coming from. its too hot to touch. it wasnt like this before.
it doesnt even need to be turned on for it to heat up. once a battery is inserted, its almost instantly burning.
anyone know what that is which is circled, what the possible cause for the excess heat is, and any solutions?
thanks
Hi, I believe the IC you have circled is for battery charging/control which in the s2 is a max8627. The IC could have failed or maybe one of the caps near it (which do look like they have some sort of residue on them).
Short of replacing them there might not be much you can do i'm afraid. If you are feeling adventurous and have a good soldering iron (a steady hand can help too ) give it a try.
Mike.

Hi, thanks for the reply. makes sense why it gets so hot now.
should of mentioned, thats not my photo. i found it on another thread, but its the same place thats heating up on mine.
i think i might give cleaning that area with isopropyl a try, although not sure if thatll make much difference.
edit- using the ic part number you mentioned, i came across this thread http://samsunggalaxysforums.com/sho...age-overheating-u503-(USB-OTG)-and-Workaround
which is exactly what is happening to mine.

Good find there. Sounds like this IC in particular is prone to failure after being shorted out. Will you be attempting this fix?
yeah, no other option really. getting a new phone soon, so thisll be handed down to a family member if it works fine after attempting the fix.
update-
just used a dremel with the smallest diamond tipped bit i could find, and wore the chip away.
the phone still turns on, and temps are not only feel different, but are reported as 31c (was 80c when the chip was present).
so a success!
Sorry for late reply glad it turned out to be that component and you managed to fix it.
