Howdy guys,
I'm having a problem on my Archos 70, when I press the power to wake up the screen, occasionally all that I get is a white screen. It doesn't respond to touch, nothing comes on it, though it does turn off when I press the power button again. The only way to use my Archos again is to reset it by holding power down for 10 seconds. I'm on Urukdroid 1.5.1 with the OC kernal running at 1.2. Anyone have any ideas of what is going on?
This is a known problem of the old FW that Uruk 1.5 is based on.
Archos fixed this with FW 2.4.19 and Uruk will get that fix with 1.6.
having a similar problem on the archos 70, though with the standard unrooted android and cyanogenmod. on the regular os I get the whitescreen upon wakeup. on cm7 the whitescreen will flash for a second on wakeup, or just before sleep.
edit: guess it's probably because I never update my fw.

So it seems that no matter what i do regardless of rom, kernel, bootloader version if I press the power button while my gtablet is awake, it will just shut off- maybe twice now it has successfully unlocked for me and came back to life.
The other night i did a test, with 100% battery set the brightness to its lowest setting using the power manger widget (this seems to be 30 out of 255 btw)
Idling while I slept (screen on, sitting at the home screen) it ran 10 hours and still had 16% left.
Obviously the screen still remains as the key battery drainer, so my question is- is there a way to turn the screen off but keep the cpu running? Perhaps even just kill the back light completely- and upon volume button press or maybe a certain swipe gesture on the screen, the back light could be re enabled.
Ive tried a few apps, none of which have functionality quite like this- I was wondering about perhaps a script we could run via terminal (that maybe could be tied to a shortcut on the homescreen..?)
Thanks!
the sleep of death is my #1 gripe with the deivce.
what i am more interested in is why this happens. I would imagine this doesnt happen in stock form, so it must be an issue with rooting it.
Nope
No it happend in its stock form too... even with the 1.0 fw that i started with...
Went for the update to 1.1 bl and 1.2 bl
I really haven't been able to determine the issue and ive tried every rom between 1.1 and 1.2 ... (at least all the obvious ones on the forums here...)
Not sure what to do other than suck it up and just find something that can kill the screen.
Suddenly I'm experiencing my touchscreen locking up. Sometimes immediately after reboot, other times it might happen after a few minutes or hours.
The volume and power buttons still work, and the accelerometer can flip the screen.
When the issue occurs all I am able to do is hold power for 10secs to force the tablet to reboot.
This has only started happening in the last 24 hours.
I haven't installed anything new.
Running stock rom 4.0.6 + GoLauncher.
I have recalibrated.
Anyone else experienced similar?
Any ideas what I can do to fix it?
Yesterday I really thought my device was broken.
After the issues above I began to have a situation where I had to reboot but as soon as my device booted I was locked onto a 'homescreen' that I hadn't defined; it was on a secondary homescreen but my touchscreen was completely inactive!
I managed to boot into 'safe mode' and my touchscreen worked fine on the default launcher.
I rebooted and GoLauncher HD loaded up fine with my screen also perfectly responsive.
For 24hrs since I have had no problems whatsoever.
I suspect GoLauncher HD may be buggy?!?
QUESTION How did I boot into safemode? I did it by accident!
Hello everyone.
My Folio with CM9 alpha 5 have a strange problem.
Sometimes (it seems to be random) the screen stays awake after turning off the device. The red LED also stays on. It seems like it doesn't want to turn off. Then I have to hold the power button for 10 sec to hard-turn-off it.
Also I got the screen flickering problem after waking up the device. I wonder if there's something common in the problems.
Anyone knows a solution?
In general the CM9 a5 is a nearly PERFECT rom. I mean it's like not a Folio. Almost every problems gone. I used foliomod 1.4 before and there were so much SOD which was a horror. Sometimes my images and videos from the SD card were deleted randomly.
All I miss about the CM9 a5 is the bluetooth. I hope they'll fix it soon or release an alpha 6.
Sorry if I have any grammar mistakes.
I have foliomod installed and when I lock it, randomly turns on too, each 10 minutes or so... the only way to fix it is to turn it off, but it's annoying because I use it as an ebook sometimes. I was going to try CM but if you have the same problem...
I have the same problem. seems to be a bug in the rom
Hello,
When I press the standby button on my X10, my screen goes black, which is normal. Lately, my screen goes black but immediately after that it returns to the lock screen, and I have to press it twice or more to get it black.
Is this software or hardware related and how can I solve this? Running Wolfbreak's ROM and Doomkernel V6. Running Wolf for about a year now and suddenly this problem starts showing up.
Hi,
its complicated, because might be both. If you used power button very often and/or your X10i is older it might be hardware issue.
I recommend you try different rom first and try it. If it would be the same, then replacement of power button should be the last fix . In that case I might help you with that.

Seems like I fixed the problem by wiping cache and dalvik cache. I'm not sure which one actually solved it. So it was software related.
Thanks for the help anyway!
i'm trying to sort out the battery on an archos cobalt 80. at the moment it has the latest stock firmware available from the UK archos support page. i restored it to factory settings from the recovery menu earlier today.
i'm fairly sure the battery isn't dying, because just a few days ago i had it working all day from a single charge, although now it will barely hold a charge at all. thing is, it doesn't seem to be possible to fully power it off, which is necessary to properly calibrate it. it apparently should be possible to switch it all the way off then plug it in so as a battery charging animation appears on the screen, but this thing just seems to go onto some sort of standby mode. if i try to charge it with it switched off, the damn thing switches itself back on again. i've read that it should be possible to power it off properly from the recovery menu, but the option simply isn't there, only reboot. it says that it's recovery system v 4.00.
is there an older/newer recovery image for this tablet that i can flash that will allow me to properly switch it off, or could i do it by installing CWM? or is there a secret button combo that will properly power it down?
