Water under my screen?! Update: it wasn't water! - HTC Flyer, EVO View 4G

So I was using my flyer all today, and around 5:30 I left my house to go to class. I put my flyer in my backpack, and when I got to class I took it out and there seems to be moisture under my screen. How the hell it got there? I don't know. There's no way it could've gotten wet at any point during my commute to class. I've posted some pictures so you guys can see what I'm talking about. Is there any way to dry it out that you know of? Is my screen ruined? I sure hope not because i can't afford a fix. :/

Ps, jar of rice is a given and I'm going to try that when i get home. Thanks for any other ideas

Its not water. You device has been bent. Basically what's happening is your screen is getting pressured from the back and touching the digitizer panel or some other panel. I had this problem what I did is I placed the device on my lap held from both top side and applied pressure with my palm as if like trying to curve the device and it was fixed. make sure you don't apply too much pressure and break the device. I noticed mine happened because I kept the device in my back pocket and may have sat on it.

trust me no need for jar of rice. lol. initially i thought it was water damage as well.
well actually i thought it was humidity damage.

Thanks! I tried it, and it got rid of half of it then kinda made it worse. Any other suggestions on how to apply the pressure so i don't continue making it worse? I'll keep trying.

You have to get rid of all at once then it goes away. if its half gone and you stop it comes back with a different shape.

No matter how hard I push I can't get it to go away completely. I'm afraid of permanently damaging it.

I felt the same when I was trying to fix mine but risked it. I might have have used my thumbs to swipe over the damaged are whilst applying pressure. Basically push air to the affected area so it stops clinging on.

well..i've been trying and trying and it's getting to the point where my thumbs are starting to hurt from pushing so hard. lol thanks for your help i'll try again tomorrow or something.

That same thing just happened to me. Had it in my back pocket and I sat on it. I used a suction cup and placed it on the screen to pull the glass from the screen. Seems like the edge of the cup against the part thats touching works best.

I've had this problem twice, just wait a few hours and it's gone (at least that worked for me)

I had the same problem once. I had it in my back pocket when I was testing out cars at an automobile dealership (sitting down a lot). It fixed itself in about 20 minutes. I think temperature has something to do with it too. I think it cooled off.

You guys were lucky. I waited two days hoping it will fix itself before fixing it myself.

The suction cup worked flawlessly! i had to use a pair of pliers to pull on the suction cup because the plastic piece attached to it kept breaking off.. but thank you!!
As for damage to the screen, i've noticed that when i put my finger on the spot where it was bent or whatever and move the homescreen it will sometimes do this weird lag thing but it's not that bad i can live with it. just glad to have the ugly spot gone

They will repair it
I had the same happen, but with no significant pressure applied by me - the biggest issue was not the visible problem, but that the capacative layer went jumpy - sent it in and it was fixed under warranty - 5 days from calling to having a fixed device in my hands - it spent more time in transit than with HTC! I was very impressed.

I just put mine in the pouch overnight and it fixed itself.

Funny, funny, I thought it was something between the screen protector and the screen itself. I had the exact same thing when I had it in my back pocket for some minutes, no sitting down or anything, but it might have gotten a bit of pressure though. I was a lot scared when I saw it, but it just shrunk while I used it again, and with a SLURP (not kidding) it was all clean again in the end. Strange to hear some folks did make use of physical violence against their device to make it tidy again...

Hi fellow Flyer owners,
Same thing happened to me many times.
1. First time-was a very soft press, leading to forefinger sized patch, it went away by itself within a few minutes. No orange discoloration throughout.
2. Second time was more serious-had accidentally sat on it while on jeans backpocket (never do this, guys !!). It led to a double thumb sized patch with the same orange fringe discolouration that Gumby63 showed. I took to HTC Centre, they said "LCD Crystal had leaked out" leading to both the wet patch and discolouration. No amount of rubbing and bending will remove that. Unit was deemed defective.
They changed the entire unit FOC taking 3 days and all lost data. The new unit had a much harder glass, it will not show liquid marks even under very heavy finger pressing. (But do not sit or overly pressure it, might crack glass !!)
Conclusion: The 1st batches of Flyers have soft glass, where very succeptible to patch and leaks. Some of you could have gotten an exchange, others might have no problem yet.
My Flyer now has Part Number : P/N 99HML044-01 D
Its a 32gb 3G Wifi. The "-01" and suffix "D" could signify an upgraded display.
Guys, hope my information helps you.

Grumby,
I just relooked your pictures, it does seem you have LCD crystal leak. Could you take yours in and mention for a change to better glass version.
You could quote them my new P/N as safe measure.

Well I fixed it with the suction cup, I'm not to worried about it seeing as my device still works perfectly (it doesn't do the screen jumpy thing I mentioned earlier anymore) but maybe if it happens again I will try what you said. I'm being extra careful now
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App

This happened to me 3 times. First time I had it in my back pocket. The patch appeared after a 10 min walk. Didn't sit on it. It went away by itself after an hour or so.
2nd and 3rd time it seemed to happen randomly. On the 3rd occurrence the flyer was just in my bag. When I took it out the patch was there again. After 2 days, it was still there so I decided to go to the HTC service center and have it repaired. that was yesterday. Now I need to wait 3 to 5 working days, hopefully not longer!
Update: I got my flyer back a few days after bringing it to the service center. Good as new! Either they replaced the casing or gave me a new/refurbished unit because all the scratches and dents are gone. =)

[Tips] Minor Defects to Check For Before Leaving Store or Before Your 30 Days Expire

If you are viewing this thread, hopefully you haven't bought the Evo 3d just yet or are still within your 30 days. I just wanted to share my experiences with the Evo 3D to help others avoid the headaches I have had with a few visual defects on some Evo 3d's and also an operational defect. I would recommend inspecting the phone for these things before you leave or before you'll be outside your 30 days and offered a refurb. I made the mistake of not looking things over at the store, and it took me 2 replacements to finally get a phone that didn't have these defects.
Please Note: I'm a very picky person, so I always check my new phones for defects and eye sores before I get to the point where I am unable to resolve the issue within 30 days. Some of the things that I have an issue with may not be a big deal for others. Many people are happy with their phone even with a minor defect, but I feel if it's brand new it should be the same quality as a brand new phone.
If your opinion differs on what matters and what doesn't, don't bother trying to debate. The purpose for this post is to help others spot minor defects that may be an eye sore for them personally.
Pin Hole Size White Dot near Capacitive Buttons
-While this may not be a big deal to some, I found it a rather annoying eye sore while using your phone in a dark room or when your bottom buttons are lit up.
-This shouldn't be too hard to spot, just make sure that your buttons are lit up. Usually you will have to cover the sensor along the top of the phone if you are not in a dark room to get the buttons to light up. See picture below for example.

Dead Pixel's on Screen
-Once again just a minor defect that is common on LCD screens, but if you are watching a movie it can become rather noticeable.
-The easiest way I found to check for this is to install "Dead Pixel Test" from the market. This app will go through several solid color screens which will help you spot a dead pixel if there are any.
Power/Sleep Button Activates with a Minor Touch
-Could be a possible issue if the phone is in your pocked and button is activated, your phone may turn off and you wouldn't even know it.
-The button should have somewhat of a click to it when your press it. Try gently putting your finger on the button without much pressure, and see if the screen turns on/off.
Dust Particles Under Screen or Glass Covering Camera's
-May cause pictures to appear fuzzy if you have dust under the glass, and well the screen that's self explanatory.
-Could be difficult to spot, just look from multiple angles to spot any dust.
Red Trim That Surrounds Camera Glass is Lose [Reported by: mayfield103]
-Only have seen this mentioned a few times, but could be a big eyesore if it comes out. I would guess that this issue stems from the rear cover on the phone not being taken off carefully but check anyways.
3D/2D Toggle Button is Wobbly or Lose (Fairly Common Issue) [Reported by:dirkyd3rk and a few others]
-This is more so just annoying when the phone vibrates so does the button itself. Could be a problem in the future though if the button actually pops off from being slid back and forth a number of times.
-Easiest way to check for this would be to just slide the toggle, if it has give before fully locking into 3D or 2D then the button is probably faulty. You may get weird looks for this but if you shake the phone you can also hear it as well.
Screen is Slightly Tilted to Either Side [Reported by: DeMiNeO]
-"It's almost unnoticable if your not looking at it, but then drives you mad once you find it".
The Infamous "Light Bleed" Along Bottom and Slightly Up Sides of the Screen
-This has been reported and debated by quite a few people. Some say its light bleed, while others say the Capacitive buttons are just too bright. This just appears as a slight glow between the side of the screen and the frame of the phone along the bottom. Those who had the OG Evo know exactly what this looks like.
-If you have access to a decently dark room this shouldn't be hard to spot, wake the screen and look along the bottom edge of the screen.
Picture borrowed from: itsallsubliminal
-"You can see if it effects you easily by looking at the upper right corner of your phone. If it looks tilted, you have the issue".
These issues seem to be isolated, so don't let this sway you from buying the phone. I am very satisfied with my phone I just wanted to provide a thread for such issues.
Hopefully this will help some people out and prevent multiple trips to the Sprint store for a replacement. As I said before, some may not care about these issues but if you notice the little things I would recommend checking for these defects. If I missed something else just post the issue and I will edit the OP.
Excellent tips thank you. I'm very picky also. I'm getting mine July 4th.

No problem, most of these have been posted already in different places but just figured one thread would be a little easier to find instead of doing all the digging.
Only thing I noticed on mine is that dot u pointed out its a cosmetic thing not a defect more like a ant tit of a spot can't see it unless u rape your phone with your eyeball other that my phone zero issues no problem with pixles or leakinglight which people claim they have its not leaking just bright ass buttons .
2d3d button wobble slightly no issue no yellow tint either . I'm not picky unless you get white spots like the EVO had 2 months into the brandnew phone that sucks .
ITT: Why OCD people will get their phones replaced
Awesome! Thanks for posting. Also another thing I have noticed is a minuscule but noticeable small silver chip off the paint on the rim surrounding one of the dual lenses at the back. A couple of phones had it, MAKE SURE YOU verify that yours doesn't have it.

Yea, i got that man. Boy was i mad when i got home because i changed out the original 3D i was going to get because the top of the screen had a bump and the battery cover had some kind of stuff stuck on it. I thought i checked it over good but to my suprise, low and behold that scratch on the rim of the camera lenses a couple hours later when i checked again.

Check to make sure your screen isn't tilted either.
I've seen where some people's screens (And the Sprint Demo evo3d) had the screen tilted to the right a TINY TINY bit. It's almost unnoticable if your not looking at it, but then drives you mad once you find it. You can see if it effects you easily by looking at the upper right corner of your phone. If it looks tilted, you have the issue.

I hear you there, My OG EVO had the white splotch of doom too. It appeared in the lower center of the screen. I didnt know it was a well known defect until 8 months later, or that you could switch it out under the mfg warranty. So this is a good thread to have.
The kind guys at my radioshack swapped my evo 3d that had dirt under the screen in a few places. they didnt even look at me weird. They seemed to understand that I didnt want to look at that for at least one (possibly 2 years).
I Have light bleed when my captive buttons are not lit but my back light is on... my search button still glows from the leak... bothers me late at night when i am in my bed... "researching"
its a good thing you posted this, once I read it I began looking for these little flaws and found a dead pixel. Sprint is overnighting me a new one. Thanks

My EVO 4g had a couple of dead pixels, it was only noticeable when the screen was black. I dealt with it. I didn't want to go through the unrooting and rooting process again or worse...end up with a crappy refurb.

Guess I'll keep replacing.

Until I get a flawless 3V0. ( I don't care about light leak)

Cool story bro. I heard Samsung is coming out with a new phone for Sprint, you should try it out.
On my third. The first was for light leakage and a yellow tint. The second had leakage as well, so I figured I would live with it, but that one had a power button that wasn't responsive without pushing it down really hard.
This one has light leakage but everything else is fine. I'll live with it.

Anyone tried taking theirs back for the crooked screen? If so, did they replace it? Thinking about trying. Sometimes I don't really notice it, but there are sometimes when it really seems to show out more than others.
On your new one look closely for dirt under the screen..I'm sure you will find a spec some where. Then you can return it again.

Your so much better than everyone else. You probably are the only legit person here. I paid full price for this phone. My laptop doesn't have a crooked screen and it cost less than this phone. Sorry for expecting my $550 phone to have a straight screen. Plus, FYI, I noticed the crooked screen without ever reading one thing on here about it. In fact, I had no idea anyone else had noticed it until I came here to post about mine and saw the thread! Imagine that! You are wrong about something!
Yeah, imagine that....Well maybe if someone had 6 issues with 6 different phones then maybe that person should look for a different product..If i had to get something replaced that many times I can tell you that product/company would not get my business...If you've replaced a product that many times you're never going to be happy.Save yourself the headache in searching for the perfect phone and just give it up and move on.
<side note> If i paid full price sure i'd be a bit more picky, but 6 times? Does the company even deserve your hard earned money at that point?

Yes, they should. Can't imagine you'd get any flack unless you get a turd of a store. Only returned mine once: for the crooked screen. New one is perfect. Local Sprint store even let me sit down in their repair room and open and check out the brand new one before they even activated it. I confirmed the screen was straight, used the camera and gallery to search for dead pixels and then when I was satisfied, they swapped them and activated the new one. Great service!
P.S. Manager at that store commented that my screen was pretty bad. His was slightly crooked too and he said he was going to swap his out later but we both said the one I exchanged was twice as bad! Drag the notification bar down and the left edge of the notification bar on the bottom was actually underneath the blackout it was so crooked! It's only half to 3/4 of a millimeter but that's easily noticeable and since the digitizer (top glass panel) is straight and the LCD panel underneath is crooked, it can actually throw off the touch response. Straight digitizer + crooked screen = some keys on keyboard (and buttons in some apps) don't align properly and you end up pressing the wrong thing sometimes.

I definitely agree with you on that point. I haven't taken my phone back yet because of the slightly crooked screen, but am thinking about it. It doesn't affect the function of the phone one bit, but it is a bit annoying when I see it. Like I said before it is not always noticeable, but there are certain times it is.
Some people are never satisfied and that's just the way it is.

If your screen is crooked and you noticed it with out the thread in this forum pointing it out to you then maybe your screen is crooked enough to warrant a swap out..My screen actually bricked on 3d content and anytime 3d activated,my phone would restart every time..If this phone I have now had an issue then I'd be done with it..I love the phone, but I think a lot of people here are wanting to love theirs and that's where the picky-ness sets in..I get it but I don't want to look forward to liking a product I buy..I want to like it for being what it is and performing the way it was intended...
Sorry if I came off as being greater than anyone else,I wasn't trying to..I just think I have a higher tolerance for technology than most..

Anyone interested in taking apart DNA's

Anyone enjoy tinkering and working on hardware that would enjoy having a side job opening or dismantling DNA's and maybe a few other devices?
I'm looking for a partner in a project that has experience on the hardware side of electronics and spends some time on the forums or surfing the net.
If this is something you might be interested in let me know. I also need someone to source some bricked DNA's.
sent from my ATM machine I bought Saturday like a boss
Define tinkering , I have changed screens on my HD2 from one to the other on many occasions . So Im interested but I dont know if that is enough to help you out ?
same here, I have opened and replaced screens on iphone 4 and 4s. taken apart and brought back to life an o2 atom, opened a one x to replace the screen and did it.
I have had my DNAs apart. But mostly only opened up phones with removable batterys. Honestly the hardest part is getting the shielding off this phone without mangling it.

It's going to be a learning process I'm not looking for a DNA take apart expert, mostly I need someone interested in participating that's patient, and doesn't get halfway through a tear down then drive to the nearest lake and dump the parts in the water because of frustration.
The kind of person that might take apart the family's microwave to see what's inside (or buy an ATM machine to see how they work lol). Someone who enjoys mechanical stuff and can stay level headed even if they hit a bump in the road, take a breather then out think that stripped screw by making it a flathead with a dremel tool so you can unscrew it and replace it.

Totally up my alley, but I just simply don't have the time these days. Wish I could help, but I just can't.
Hit me up on gtalk if ur still looking for someone. I've taken apart and replaced screens, charging ports, and cameras on a few different model phones, mainly HTC. I've even learned the art of soldering those tiny little solderjoints on some phones

I am game
I've replaced the battery in my razr with the extended battery and replaced the digitizer in my og droid

Dell Duo touch screen tablet/laptop. It was slow and I wanted to see if I could change the processor. Its soldered to the board, not a problem
My Keurig Coffe Pot. It was not filling the cup as fast as I wanted it too, a little tweak to the pressure tank fixed that.

These are just a few of the things I mess around with. In all cases above, the things still worked when I was done "tweaking" them. Thats not always the case lol. Sometimes my curiosity has broken stuff, but not that often.
However, I don't only take apart electronics. When I bought my house, I didn't like my bathroom one saturday, So I removed it, the walls, the floor, the ceiling.. and built a bigger one with a skylight, jet tub, tile floor, walk in shower.. I found out later that I guess your supposed to have a permit to do stuff like that? lol.. oh well. Sold the house and nobody asked questions.. shhh!!
I have also rebuilt the engine in my 2004 Sport Trac. It sucked a valve into the #1 cylinder and shattered the piston. Pulled it, disassembled the entire motor, replaced the piston, crank, connecting rod, timing gears/chain, intake manifold.. then put it all back together in about 4 days. Alone in my dads garage (I don't have a garage.. sigh) last December. Works like a champ and only cost me 300 bucks to do!
I'm a tinkerer turned professional.. a professional tinkerer? lol. To me, all things work the same.. if you can take apart a microwave, you can disassemble yard sprinkler system, or rebuild a transmission. Everything comes apart, and everything can be put back together.. doesn't matter what it is.
So what are you workin on?

Dude, that is awesome!
I would have loved to pursue a career such as that. The most tinkering I do is car stuffs and little gadget repairs here and there. Maybe one day...
Serenity, that's pretty awesome. But electronic trannies to me are meant for professionals. I used to hate rebuilding the Allison 4L80E trannies in hmmwv's.

Now you guys have my attention. When I was 14 I got a 1968 Chevy pickup that was supposed to be a rat rod style cheap daily driver hotrod.
Within 3 months it had turned into a frame off restoration project/show truck/daily driver/built for the hot rod power tour as well.
While working on that Dad and I got into drag racing and built a 91 Camaro drag car.
Fuel injection is what first got me into technology. I was into mechanical things but computers kind of scared me because of the unknown. And this was way before smart phones and tablets and such so tech wasn't part of popular trends.
I decided I couldnt judge computers based on not knowing them, so I decided to take one apart. I was pleasantly surprised to learn it was just like building a racing engine or designing custom suspensions. And here I am

Okay saw the post and wondered... how far you guys got with taking the DNA's apart?
I'm in the process of replacing the screen with digitizer. Well this was the plan and now I have taken off the motherboard, battery, charging and the camera portion according to the video from etrader.
It seems I have to get the LCD and digitzer away from the actual frame, but that is nowhere mentioned or shown and I don't really know where to start (prying or not ... )
Attached 2 pics... I really need help, my wife is driving my crazy complain about my old trust Droid X ... even so it was her in the first place breaking the DNA.

Cracked screen - Warranty?

It seems I am one of the unlucky ones, who by accident break their phones while having it in the pocket. A week after I bought the Z Ultra, I discovered that the phone was bent, i.e. the corners were a couple of millimeters taller than the middle of the phone, which I decided to remedy by bending it back once in a while. But alas, it is broken now.
After looking at the picture, people are probably going to say, that its caused by bumping into something, but I can pretty much rule that out, as I always have the power button on the phone facing my important pants, which means that the screen is facing my left leg. If I bumped into something, then my important parts would hurt as well.
The big question is: are they going to fix it under warranty, or should I fix it myself?

As you can see, the cracks starts beneath the power button, and moves across to where the speaker is. It looks very much like it couldnt handle the stress any more, on the corners?
You've probably bent the frame too much when having it your pants pocket, and it probably couldn't handle the stress at one point and snapped.
Will it be covered by your warranty? I doubt it. Don't you have some insurance?

Yeah, that sounds plausible.
I do have insurance, but I have to pay a deductible of 140€ / $193, or almost 1/5 of the price of a new Z Ultra.

Yeah, that sucks, but do you have any choice? You can either sell it as it is for a very low amount of cash, you can keep the screen cracked and hate your Ultra, or you can invest €140 into it and also get some money back if you're going to sell it down the road.

This happened to me a week ago. I was texting and I had just put it back in my pocket and it vibrated and I went to text the person back and it was cracked and I couldn't do anything. I called the lady that finally sent me a new phone for free the last time my phone broke. This time she told me that this is a problem with the phone and has been happening to many people and I should get it done for free. I hope she is right because I have sent my phone back but I have not heard from sony yet which is not surprising because I had to email the a bijillion times last time to even get a response about my phone that they couldn't fix due to a operating system problem. This has never happened to me with other phones. Don't get me wrong I love my phone and missed it dearly since i sent it back last monday breaking on sunday. I can not wait to get it back because using an old laggy s2 is not fun. Which I have had for 2 years and never had really bad problems with it. Only lags because the rom I use is horrible and cant flash another rom because my recovery doesn't work like it should. Back on topic. I have had this phone since november and it has broke twice. I will be mad if I have to pay anything since i got this new replacement one in december. I will pay what they want me to though but paying 680$ for a phone that breaks every month is not cool. For 680 I should get a phone that last a lifetime. I am considering selling my baby. But I really don't want to even though it breaks a lot. I love it either way. I will update you if I have to pay anything but for now it is in Texas where I sent my old phone back. Ill keep you update.

I have onle had my watch for a few days, but is this because it doesn't clip on or because it is annoying to clip on? I figured the waist way is to line it up on the one end then push it into place, it fits nice and snug at that point.

the charging clips seem like they were just meant to break. mines broke after a few months.
I'm confused. What problem does socks and bottles solve? Do people using them have broken tabs on their charger or "slots" on their Gear and use the socks and bottles to apply pressure so the pins connect? I know I could end up like others with a broken charger but I have two (work/home) and so far they attach and come off fine. With all the issues reported I look at the clips on both chargers regularly and nothing's changed. Once a non-defective charger's attached I can't see where applying pressure to it would do much to preserve the tabs. If there's something causing them to fail I'm guessing it's stress from repeated attachment and detachment. Granted it's a dumb design for a $300+ device but I'd like to think enough thought went it regarding longevity so if people are affected it's a minority. Time will tell.

yeah adds pressure to broken chargers. eventually the tabs will break. i was always careful with mine, but in months it broke anyways.
I babied mine after reading about the broken tabs also but mine broke after 3 months also. I'm so ticked that Samsung won't own up to this big blunder. It should've been wireless charging to begin with because I've read of peoples charging contacts on the watch corroding and not working any more

My biggest concern isn't having to replace a $30 charger (even though I/we shouldn't). It's the pics some people posted of the receiving slots on the $300 Gear S breaking. That's a problem. You spin the wheel and take your chances.
I somehow got status in Samsung's support program and I called about this. I was told if anything happened to my Gear S or charger I'd get an advance replacement. Some relief but I'd rather not have to test it.
Hello All! I read up a lot about the Gear S before making my purchase so was well aware of the tab on the charger breaking. First time using it was difficult to get off; now I just slide it a smidgen to the right & it comes off without me pulling & tugging at it.
So now I have it down to a science.
Snap on; slide off. I hope doing it this way continues to work months from now but only time will tell.
Is this trick somewhere in the manual?
Slide right, gentle pull on the tab... how simple. Much less pressure to detach; easier on the clip. Why isn't Sammy advertising this more? I've ordered two backup chargers on ebay: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/281588490165?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT -fearing the inevitable breakage..
Update: Speak of the Devil; Postman just dropped off chargers as I was posting. Both allow usb connection and charge ok. No LED like the OEM and I'll have to get back to you on standalone spare -charge after I've tested. But at $8.99 US (free Shipping - Apr 27) I have backup for my worn clip.
So I bought two.
Now let's hope the Watch clip stays viable

Update 2.0: the Cheapies appear to be CHARGER/ADAPTERs only! No LED and no mobile -charge. On the plus side; they work great to leave on the night desk, come with their own usb and seem to charge the watch via generic usb-mobile-battery pack as a work-around...
BTW Did you know that thumb-pressure on the corner of the charger opposite the tab (Speaker corner) will pop it off with almost no effort? Where is that posted? Works on the OEM version, too
Well after the ebay chargers have now stopped staying on the watch, I filed a claim with squaretrade and sent my watch back to them for a refund. I really did love the watch but I cannot justify paying that much money and then having to shove a sock inside the watch opening to charge it every night, and the fact that Samsung could care less about the issue makes me even more upset about this whole thing. I will miss being able to see who calls without picking up my phone but if Samsung does not care any more than this why the heck should we.

ST is insurance. When you send your watch/charger back they'll repair it. If the repair cost is higher than the insured value they'll consider it "beyond economic repair" and pay you whatever the max value of the policy you bought is or what's on the receipt you provided them. "I don't like the charger design" isn't grounds for a refund.
