This is such great news!!! knowing that motorola is unlikely to release an official build of ICS! I will follow this thread closely!
This should develop a lot quicker since they have an absolute vanilla ROM to start with, right?
wow, i honestly wasn't expecting to see this thread that soon!
I am definitely going to give it a try.
I wonder if market download issue is related to drm server not started. HTC Vision ICS alpha builds had this problem. I will report back once I get a chance to try it.
Edit: Just as I thought issue with market not downloading is due to DRM server not started at boot. To fix market downloads do the following on shell as root:
Code:
mount -o remount,rw /system
chmod +x /system/bin/drmserver
/system/bin/drmserver&
mount -o remount,ro /system
After this Market will install fine.
How do we get in CWR? Reboot to recovery doesn't appear to be working, even wipe data from settings doesn't engage. I noticed now during boot while at M logo, brightness goes down and notification light goes blue for a second, then green for another second then off, shortly after boot animation starts. I tried holding vol+- keys and camera to see if I boot into something else than normal boot, but no luck. Actually - managed to boot in "safe mode" by holding the camera key I believe (or was it some of the vol keys?). Phone started but was saying "safe mode" in the lower left corner of the screen.
So far I can say WIFI, bluetooth and GPS work fine, but GSM/CDMA connection is not. Phone says no service and signal bar is blank. I cannot even get into mobile network settings (force closes), even *#*#4636#*#* service menu FC's. Also messaging app crashes on boot (I guess related to GSM/CDMA issue).
But I am impressed how smoothly phone operates, transitions and all!
Another bug I found - HW keyboard has issues with ~ button (top left corner). In most cases it engages as Tab key. I managed to get it do ~ once or twice. The rest of the blue symbols (ALT) work fine. ALT Lock functions properly too (except for ~ key).
Also launcher seems to be not quite landscape aware, or at least there is something buggy there. When I slide keyboard open while on home screen or in app drawer, the screen orientates and shows fine in landscape in split second then goes back portrait.
As far as GSM/CDMA goes - no go. Tried both with and without SIM card - nothing happens. Phone settings keep force closing.
Phone.apk
In order to change from GSM to CDMA, you must edit the phone.apk to withstand the global mode

Not sure exactly what you mean honestly. I am in Canada and use the phone on GSM. My CDMA radio is active too, but I only use it when travelling in the US. The thing is phone does not start in either mode. Nor there is way to flip between modes. I was thinking of editing build.prop to set in either mode (not default Global), but data wipe doesn't work either. And I can't figure way how to enter Clockwork either. Waiting on more knowledgeable people to shed some light here...

Right when the LED turns blue, I've pressed volume down and I was in the android boot menu. Hope this helps. Still can't figure how to make GSM work. It worked on first install, but after I installed gapps refused to work anymore and keeps giving an error at startup about messaging service. But I'm not giving up...

Thanks!! I guess my timing was bad when I was trying combinations
Now at least I know how to get into recovery. I'll try playing with build.prop to see if I can fire up in GSM or CDMA mode instead of Global..

Hi,
I am stuck at MOTOROLA logo after trying to flash this ROM.
I was in 2.4.3.30 booted up to CWM using Droid 2 Bootstrap and flashed ICS zip file.
Now phone won't boot, it is stuck in MOTOROLA logo... I think I bricked my device...
I can enter recovery but I don't think that would help.
Hope you can help me.
Best Regards.

You need to update to Gingerbread before you flash this. Froyo kernel won't work. Simply SBF back stock, update to Gingerbread (4.5.608) OTA, then root, install CWM and proceed with flashing ICS zip at this point.

Essentially, you need to launch /system/bin/drmserver process. You can either do from terminal or from adb shell.
If you have terminal.apk - install it from file manager then launch and start drmserver that way - you don't need adb. BTW - it seems drmserver has the right permissions already, just needs to be launched (no need to remount read/write and changing permissions - essentially only one line remains from the original:
Code:
/system/bin/drmserver&
. (the ampersand at the end is so it detaches from shell and goes in background). If market was launched before you start drmserver, you need to stop market from app management. After that when you start market, it will download just fine.

Looks like battery gauge is not working (shows always full battery). Try recharging battery on external charger or see if you leave phone plugged in for a while if it charges.
As for bootloader - the problem is likely again the battery - if it is too low, it won't let you flash sbf.

Hi, not sure if it will help, but ICS on the Droid 1 does something similar, I have found that if you open a terminal, do a 'su' then at a # type 'radiooptions 1' you get your cell connection back. Not sure if this is applicable in your situation, but might be worth the try.
Get out of here you Defy-kanging noob. Please take down your donation link while I gather evidence to prove that you steal other peoples work.
This "project" is also stolen: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1410879
Edit: And please don't lie about features, you know you're baseband doesn't show in About.
As a side note: way to help people after release.

Hi
As I can't post in the develpment forum just yet I really need an answer for the 2.5 patch im trying to install to fix the power issues.
I have copied all the files and chmod 777 the 2 required files.
I ran the supercharger.sh as root and boot but its come up with an error on one of the lines. "suspend not found" seeing at the phone is not going into deep sleep should I worry about this message?
Take a look here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23244739&postcount=4394
Hi
Thanks for replying, I edited the supercharger.sh file and added in the command PIDOF SUSPEND which stopped the error. Unfortunately there is still no deep sleep mode.
I'm running Neutrino GT
FYI,
I'm running 2.5 EE
I also have "suspend not found" when running Supercharger.sh (without the modification given),
but my phone goes into deep sleep

Thanks a lot, I can see now that my phone does not go into Deep Sleep mode
from time to time my wifi stops working. i try to enable and disable it, but it does not work. i must reboot the phone to get wifi working again.
just now it happened again. so i open an adb shell, switch to root and kill the wpa_supplicant. and now wifi is working again without reboot.
@Lloir & @Thömy attached is a logcat. at 10:30:41.072 i killed the wpa_supplicant

Not sure what the problem is. Can't find anything obvious.
Is that timeline correct?
Code:
09:38:36: disconnection from WiFi
10:18:38 - 10:29:04: you try to enable/disable WiFi a couple of times
10:39:18: connected to WiFi
10:30:41: you kill the wpa_supplicant
10:36:12: wpa_supplicant complains about being forcefully killed
wpa_supplicant restarts 5 times
10:39:17: you're connected to WiFi again
The next time that happens try to get the output of "dumpsys wifi" and "dumpsys connectivity" before you kill something.
Probably needs either a clean install or a fresh kernel flash

the "10:39:18: connected to WiFi" is imo wrong. because i killed wpa_supplicant because i was not connected to wifi.
i will do the dumpsys thing next time and post the result

why? this ist a dirty flash of cm-11-20140304 with its kernel. what is wrong with it?
the problem has occurred again, but a little bit different.
1) connected to b.nuhq.nunet (at work)
2) 12:32:18.973 make a smoking break -> wifi got disconnected because of poor signal
3) back at work place: can not switch on the phone. only the hardware buttons begin to light up, but the displays stays off.
4) attached the phone to usb and adb
5) 12:43:44.938 get a logcat (logcat.txt) and dmesg (dmesg.txt)
try to get the dumpsys wifi on a adb shell as ROOT. this command hangs forever without any output. but after 30 seconds the phone vibrates and the adb logcat on the other terminal spits out many log lines (logcat-crazy.txt). after that, i can switch the display on again. but the phone was not rebooted!
after that i try to get the dumpsys as user. and this works fine (dumpsys-wifi.txt, dumpsys-connectivity.txt)
wifi is still at VERIFYING_POOR_LINK but this is wrong. the access point is 3 meter away from me
dmesg2.txt is after the screen works again. but after 10 minutes the screen is off again and i can not switch the phone on. im still connected via adb
logcat-time.txt is a is a complete log with timestamps.
traces.txt is from /data/anr/traces.txt
13:42 killed wpa_supplicant with "kill 939"
13:44 manually connect b.nuhq.nunet (failed)
13:45 switch wifi off
13:45 switch wifi on (works fine)
after that i can use the screen again.
the problem that the screen can not switched on exists for since the begin. but in the most cases it happens in connection with a poor wifi signal.
Hi,
I was using my phone as tether (usb).
I unplug my phone And some times later it shutdown showing 0% battery's boot screen. I know that was wrong.
So I plug in phone, reboot And immediatly see that phone show 20% charge. After 2 hours, phone remain at 20%
I use it all the Day And battery's indicator don't drop.
Battery stamina is the same as before.
Apps see it as "good"
I try to reflash previous And stock rom, Wipe dalvik And data.
Nothing change.
Phone remain with full life battery but at 20 %
So I don't know the real %
And I don't know if Quick charge drop or not. This May be dangerous.
Any idea / solution ?
Thanks to read
Try this,
Open up the phone app, and type *#*#7378423#*#* . You will get into the service menu. Go into Service Info -> Factory Charging. What % do you get?
Required level 50%
Present level 20%
Factory charging unfinished
Please connect the charger ( or Factory charging is going on, Please. Wait)

how many sony telemtery services do you have disabled? diagnostics: sonymobile.devicemonitor and sonymobile.phoneusage give info to sonymobile.support and also to What's New and Lounge... when I had disabled permissions for support, i couldn't see any usage data until i opened Whats New and Lounge permission to storage and phone... this was when I was experimenting which apps i could disable without root and not cause the settings menu to crash
another thing to try is [Power + Vol Up] cache clear
When you flashed the Stock ROM again, did you leave (if you got one) the custom kernel on?
I would strongly suggest you completely flash the device anew with flashtool including the kernel.sin, even temporarily locking the bootloader. If it's still stuck then it's not a software problem and the battery controller might be wonky.

Yes I leave the custom kernel.
I had add a new battery, and all works fine now.
so I think this is the battery's controler that is dead .
Hello and compliments of the season.
I have a Poco, fully stock MIUI 11 with all latest updates of all apps and services. I have done my best to disable all unnecessary apps and permissions and ads etc. I've even factory reset my phone yesterday.
But even in doing all of this, my phone refuses to go into deep sleep. Overnight I'm losing 35% battery when before I used to lose only about 2%. I've disabled Sync, disabled anything that's auto, no backups enabled.
Still the phone shows "Awake"
I am aware of some Wake-Lock detector apps that I can use... But I'm not sure how or which to use.
Please advise. I have attached screenshot of overnight battery.
But can anyone teach me the best way to do this.

Can you give me step by step instructions.
Do I need a PC or can I do it from my phone itself?
Here is my bug report.
I've attached the bug report if anyone is willing to help me. I don't understand how to use Battery Historian page. So if anyone is willing to help me I would be very grateful.
Update : Failing everything I can do at home, I took the phone to the service center. They flashed 10.2 firmware and the problem still persist. Then they flashed 11.05 and the problem is still there. He even opened the phone and cleaned all sensors and cables etc. Took three hours of time but problem is still not solved. Fortunately I was not charged even though I'm out of warranty.
I don't have any options now.
I can unlock bootloader and flash custom ROM but the problem will still be there.
I can only hope that Android 10 will fix the issue.
If anyone can give any advice I would be grateful.
